Just got it this morning, was a little worried with everyone whining about the status bar but I'm satisfied with it.

Hmmm, so the icons have changed? I see urs above and look different. Also seems u may be a lefty. Kinda like the current design.

Noticed it a has a new cool feature to hide Navigation bar when you open an app and swipe up when you need it. When you open an app you'll see a dot on the lower left corner that activates or deactivate it. This is extremely cool!!
Not all Apps will have it activated the first time opened but there will a Tap here option to hide it.

This update sucks. Navbar apps doesn't work as well keeping it black.

Noticed it added a Bixby voice volume option with the rest of the volume options.

Which apps with black Navbar? No issues here yet.

looks really ugly in certain apps now. snapchat for example puts the nav bar down there when it didnt have it before.
Also Bxactions is no longer hijacking the bixy button, it tries to start the bixby setup. guess i need to wait for dev to update it

I noticed the same thing. I contacted the developer through the Playstore and he says he is aware of it, and will try a "workaround". I really hope he is able to fix it. I really liked having the button mapped to the flashlight. I dont understand why Samsung is trying to cram Bixby down our throats. Its garbage, and if they would just allow people to remap it to whatever they want that would be a cool selling point. A fully customizable hardware button? That would be cool.

Not having a black nav bar is driving me nuts. Has anyone found a work around for this? I know you can hide the nav bar completely but have to slide it up Everytime to use it

I've had no any Issues here too, all Apps behaves the same right way. True NavBar falls a little fast but i've gotten used to it.

Black used to be an option here... it is not anymore

Yes that's the problem. They removed the black option so if you still have black now after the update don't even mess with the color options. If you select any of the new colors there's no going back to black!

Icons haven't changed, I'm using an overlay from here. You can also make the invisible or lots of options.

This is gonna sound insane I already know. I've never been anything remotely close to the tinfoil hat types. I did my update yesterday and I use my Google maps all day long. I swear to you all that while me and my wife were talking, the phone kept picking up parts of our conversation like we did a voice command. That **** spooked me. Anybody had this happen yet?

Doesnt bother me too much not having it black. But, i have this dark theme from the theme store (free) and if i select Apply curent theme i get the black in some screens.

Tap notification bar to scroll to top in any app

Ever since my switch over to Android a few years back from my iPhone 3G, I've always been waiting for such a feature in Android that will give me the ability to tap the notification bar and instantly scroll back to the top in any app that requires scrolling. I've never once asked for this feature once until now. I've Googled it and it seems to be a rare topic. Do Android users know if this such feature? Because it seems like an easy concept and assuming wouldn't be difficult to incorporate a mod into Android... or would it?

Used to like that feature on the iphone a year back. But don't you think that it is also possible to just flung one time and the whole page goes up? In iOS the flings are not continuous. To me at least. I would love to have this though.

I agree, that's one feature that android is sorely lacking.

Yes, that is what I have to do now. But when I'm reading a long article, flinging up on the page 20 times gets old.
I think Apple would sue Google if that feature was intriduced to Android
I think the new Samsung Galaxy S 3 has an gesture with scrolls in any list to the top. You just tap the top of the phone twice.
It's weird that just few people care of this feature, which is very cool, I miss it so much

nope. i'd never use this if it were rolled into android. it seems very un-natural to tap the notification bar to go to the top. let iOS have this one....we don't want it anyway.
Well, some of us do. Seems like it would be something fairly easy to do with some dev knowledge.

you better try to experience this feature, then decide it's natural or un-natural.
in general, 1 side: users have to swipe many many times to come to the top of the page; another side: just a tap then done(just like the home key on PC) - smooth and easy. Think and compare

Its part of Google Now. You probably searched some directions or have your home or work programmed in there, so when it knows you are away from that area it will show you how much time to get back to home or work, or the directions you searched for.
Pull down the notification bar and you should see it there like "Time to get Home xx mins" or similar. Just swipe it away if you don't want to see it.

When the phone is on a flat surface like a desk, you wave your hand over the top where the LED is, the LED will light up shortly and then screen will come on for a few seconds to show you the notification screen you attached earlier

Just to add - the idea is to show you why the LED is flashing without unlocking your phone. If the light is blinking it could be from missed call, text, email, etc. That screen shows you but it also has icons for weather, driving directions, etc.
I have been using this feature, but i am not sure it is any better then tapping the home button - since that wakes up the phone, and you will see notification icons in the top to tell why the LED is flashing. Now that i think about it, i may turn this off

adding soft buttons/disable hard buttons?

does anyone know how to enable the on screen soft keys and disable the hard keys

I have been wondering this since I picked up my note 3. Coming from a galaxy nexus, I'm missing my on screen button navigation. I really hate clicking a button to go home.

same here i had the nexus then got so used to it so I added them to the Note 2. But unfortunately I tried the same method by editing the build.prop on the note 2 to get the soft buttons to work on the note 3 but it crashes the system ui. Hopefully someone know a way.
If you are rooted, you can add LMT / Pie Control but not sure on disabling the hard buttons.
If you are not rooted, I was thinking there was an app similar to Pie in the market but I did not find it with a quick search.
same here.
And change the build prop because it will give you a bunch of force closures.
Closes I came to a navigation was floating soft keys in the market.
why would you? you lose screen space and they are already built in so you lose more then you gain
I would recommend to use Ultimate Navbar for softkeys
And Xposed Additions to disable/remap hardware keys
I use LMT an have the activation point just above the home button. I've been using it since the day I rooted and like it a lot.

the skin would stick on the whole bottom of the phone including the button. you could see the outline of if you were to press on the area where the button is.
I just installed the Hyperdrive ROM and it has support for softkeys that do not cover up the bottom of most apps. Does anyone know of any other ROMs that have successfully implemented this?

Really hoping someone finds a way to get rid of that sht.
Deleting 'S Finder', "Quick connect', and 'Quick Connect Interaction Service' leaves the 'S Finder' button doing nothing, though you can still click it, and the 'Quick Connect' button disabled (after a reboot). They're still occupying the same space.
As I posted in this topic's threat in the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5 area:
This is annoying me as well. I think those not yet able to craft their own ROMs (like me), are gonna need to wait. If you're feeling adventurous, you maybe try installing [ROM][G900F][4.4.2]-AllianceROM-OTA Nightlies (the F and T models are similar I believe) and providing the developers with feedback.
There's also the possibility that [APPS][4.1+] Google Experience Launcher (GEL App + Google Search App) will work, as described by the article How to get the Google Experience Launcher on the Galaxy S5 which I found via this post (go thank him if it works).
would be great if xposed modual came out for this there very annoying

If you hold down the icon for a couple seconds it will give you the option to hide it.
It shows up there because you must have used it. it will show back up after each time you use it.

2. Now toggle invert colour option on and toggle it off right after
3. Now change the date back to todays date
Now you wont be seeing this option.
Cheers

If you hold down the icon for a couple seconds it will give you the option to hide it.
It shows up there because you must have used it. it will show back up after each time you use it.
I just leave it there and use the short cut from time to time to help eliminate burn in.

Where can I find this setting? Is this on stock rom? I don't have the toggle, nor can I find it anywhere in settings.

If you're on 5.1 go to settings scroll down to accessibility once there scroll down to the bottom and you'll see display/ Color inversion.
Turn on on and off and then check your toggles from the drop down.
Mine went away. I forgot to toggle it on and off before I changed date back lpl

I got it too. Thought it was because I flashed the retde image two days back. Weird that we're all getting it
You can also get rid of it with adb (no root needed).
Just connect the phone and type in a terminal: adb shell pm clear com.android.systemui
(and then reboot the phone)
No update just appeared this morning. I have never used this setting and done nothing other than use my phone. It's straight stock. I wonder if it's a google services thing. Very Strange.
I got it randomly yesterday, too. If you aren't on 5.1, the setting the date back trick is the only way to make it go away.
