LTE does not work anymore (G600K) - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hi All,
I bought this LG G6 (G600K) from HK a month ago. It was working perfectly until few days ago when the LTE stopped working. In the notification bar I can see LTE, but there is no data going through. E.g.: messenger shows "Connecting...". Basically no 4G internet any more. So I did my research and these are my findings:
If there is no LTE coverage, the phone switches to 3g and it works - so the problem is only with LTE, but LTE is everywhere nowdays
In this Korea Telecom ROM there is no way to configure to only use 3g (CDMA only), not even in hidden menu - this could be a remedy, but would not solve the issue
Wifi also works
I did Factory Reset twice (also Network settings reset), did not help
I waited for an update from KT, maybe contains a fix, but did not help
I went to my operator (TELENOR Hungary), and they have checked my subscription, and they said everything is ok, but they can see that my phone does not connect to the LTE system.
I tried my SIM in an other phone, and LTE works perfectly
So based on these facts, I can't think of other than the phone has a hardware issue. Do you have any idea how can I investigate further?
Thanks for any suggestion.

Have you made sure data roaming is turned on as you have Korean model, I had to enable data roaming to get mobile data as the device thinks that's exactly what it's doing.

Unfortunately it is grayed out. But 3g works and 4g worked before. I have not changed any settings, just went away.

Did you fix the problem yet?? I also have same situation like you.........

Hi, sorry to hear. I could not solve yet. I went to the 3rd line support of the operator, but they say everything is fine from their side. So I'm waiting for a custom ROM, or I will change my operator. If you can, send back your phone.

Well i just found temporary fix for grayed out data roaming..this method worked to me
download quickshortcutmaker from playstore open app and switch to normal search find roaming click on roaming - global roaming - create... you can enable data roaming from there..
And for manual network switch LTE /3G : quickshortcutmaker - normal view - network -networksettings global
Hope that helps
Sorry for my bad English..

Wow, thanks. This is working as a remedy. You are the hero of the day

Found the solution !
Google Search : how to fix 3g/4g high on android
(can't put a link since this is my first comment)
Its something related to APN . I've tried it and it works .
Hope this helps . Cheers

serious issue on SGS-2 and 3g internet

i own a samsung galaxy s2 ordered from uk,
everything working fine except for this serious issue that i have been trying to resolve till now.
i have a monthly internet subscription from my carrier and it always been working fine on my iphone ( i mean here connecting through the 3g network ). but in the S2 .. i have to use Edge to be able to access the internet ( the mobile network mode must be set to GSM only ). whenever i switch the network mode to GSM\WCDMA auto , the 3g icon appears but when it tries to connect to internet, the phone automatically switch to Flight mode and i loose the network signal. and this happens all the time. till now i am only able to connect to the internet by switching the mobile network mode to GSM only which only uses Edge network .
i have tried every possible thing to resolve this issue but nothing worked for me. please help
What country are you in? What carrier are you on? What bands do they use?
location location location.
Where are you from?
And what frequency does operators in your region operate.
just curious, have you tried hard/factory reset?
i am from saudi arabia and i am using Mobily network.
mobily is using HSDPA network as well as Edge network.
i did a software reset and still the same issue.
phone information:
Baseband version I9100XXKDH
Kernel version 2.6.35.7--I9100XWKDD-CL161513
Build Number GINGERBREAD.XWKDD
crazy idea - is there any blocking going on in SA or with that carrier? Have you used another not carrier supplied smartphone successfully on that network?
I have been always using their 3g network on my iphone. And still there network only on edge connection on the s2. What i have noticed is that the saved apn sometimes shows up and sometimes disappears

Hi, very similar issue here.
For this four days since I have got my GS2 everything was just fine. The data connection and 3G speed was great. Yesterday, all of the sudden all got crappy. Could not display any web pages. It starting to display page but after few seconds pop-up window appear which say "Data connectivity problem. The server failed to communicate. Try again later"
Interesting that my gmail, market, xda app working fine as normal.
I'm in Ireland on O2 now.
Baseband version I9100XXKDH
Kernel version 2.6.35.7--I9100XWKDD-CL161513
Build Number GINGERBREAD.XWKDD
Can someone help to solve the problem, please. Is it possible that something with the hardware is wrong? Broken?
I'll perform the factory reset and will let you know.
i just managed to flash my device with the latest EXE1 dated May 3.
and i am still facing the exact same problem.

I have same issue, and for Ihrrob, your other application are working fine because what i noticed on my mobile that 3G & 2G connection is there but not permenant that's why WIFI hotspot always disconnect and VOIP applications are not working.

You are right the 3G/2G connection is there but not permanent.
If I press the Internet icon the home page, which is 'Google' appears (sometimes) immediately. I think this is because the page is very light. If I try to open a regular page it loads 1/3 of the content or nothing.
i just hope it is a software bug not a hardware problem
Type on the dialpad *#*#4636#*#* and force the phone to HSDPA only on the dropdown menu. This is a hidden menu on the phone.

Unfortunately not.
I have spoke to the rep in the store. They reset all settings for me but it didn't help.
Just to double check if he wasn't wrong I've put the sim card in to my N900 and all data worked fine.
Bad, bad...

I'm on Mobily network in Riyadh, and 2G/3G is working fine for me. I stay on 2G most of the time to save battery, but have tested 3G and got around 3mbps.
I have the same Baseband, Kernel and Build number (rooted)
Are you using "Market Enabeler"? It can change your APN settings, and you need to restore the provider setting.
just rooted my device.
still same weird issue.
issue again: simply whenever my device tries to connect to H+ , the device automatically enters flight mode and automatically disable flight mode so that the signal bars come back without H+ and when i check back the saved APN i see nothing there ( thought i was there before ). and this strange behavior disappears when i switch the mode from GSM/WCDMA auto TO GSM only .. after i do this the device connects regularly to Edge network and i can browse the net.
so basicaly for me i will be only able to use the device on Edge instead of HSDPA or 3G.
im really hoping for help from here because i don't think i will find any help outside of this expert community.
regards
try to make it on obligatory 3G (WCDMA only) and check if the problem still there ..
still same problem juffo
i have noticed that another post are poping up talking about almost the same issure.
i hope a new firmware will fix this

no LTE icon after 4.4.2 update

Hello people
Im posting this here as I havent managed to find a solution yet.
I have a German T-mobile 16GB d802, only the device was purchased and using it in Greece.
When I was using 4.2.2 everything was perfectly fine concerning LTE with my mobile provider.
After flashing 4.4.2, I noticed that I data traffic was not working anymore. After searching I found that my APN settings were gone, so I manually inserted them.
Following that, I noticed that when I am on LTE network and have data traffic enabled, I don't see the LTE icon on the top right corner on top of the signal sign anymore. The data traffic is working though, so it seems to be a missing icon for some reason.
In 3g/HSPA and Edge I see the relevant signs, the only problem is when using LTE
A friend of mine who has the exact same version of the phone has got the exact same issue on a different cellphone operator. So its not related to the network.
I reported this to LG using the local site, but got the reply that I haven't bought the phone from the local market and they don't know the changes made from tmobile..
On tmobile website you cannot report an issue unless you have a german tmobile subscription or for business issues, so I have sent them my problem stating Im contacting them for business related reasons
Anyone else got the same issue? Anyone using German T-mobile? Anyone who has any ideas?
update:
Got a reply from T-mobile Germany that they need to have the phone in their hands in order to troubleshoot and they cannot help me
In your dialer, enter: *#*#4636#*#*
Then go to Phone Info, scroll down and set the drop down to LTE/GSM/WCDMA or something similar with LTE at the start.
See if that works...
This is something you have to do each time you boot though.

What you propose is valid if you cannot enable LTE.
I dont have that problem. I have the option to enable LTE.
The problem is that after my phone connects to LTE I dont see the LTE or 4G icon on the top right side next to the signal sign.
But LTE works perfectly fine, I managed to make a speed test to almost 54Mbps yesterday
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/785031726
So it not the regular issue that most people have with LTE being disabled, my issue is that the icon is missing
Thanks for replying though

In addition i also found this:
Dial 3845#*802# on LG-G2 key pad,
then the secret menu will come up...
Then: 1. Go to LTE-Only
2. Modem Settings
3. RAT Selection
4. Select GSM / WCDMA / LTE auto
But when i select LTE-Only a popup comes up saying "not supported" altough LTE works fine appart from the missing icon.

They must have made some customization in the icon that you dont get unless you download the tmobile stuff when you connect the phone at germany,
Do you by any chance speak German so you report the issue as well? Maybe if they get many tickets they will fix ut

Not connecting to international network

Hi guys. I'm having a problem with my gt-i9505. I flashed a custom rom a few weeks ago (Paranoid Android), and last week I traveled to Spain. I live in Portugal and everything works fine, but in Spain I didn't get any network or data roaming. I went to the network selection panel in settings and no network was found. I was 3 days in Spain with no data/calls, and as soon as I got back to Portugal, I got my signal again and all was fine.
Does anyone have any idea of what might be wrong?

Hi ,
I guess you checked that Mobile data was enabled also data roaming?
Did you tried different bands like GSM?
Do you have roaming in your contract in Portugal?

Yep, both mobile data and roaming were enabled.
Different bands I don't think I tried... may it have been that?
As for my contract, I called them and they say everything is ok on their side, and roaming should work fine.

Hi ,
Is strange if roaming was available ( data and calls) you should had been able to connect , one thing that does not sound ok is that you did not have any operator available , even if you do not have roaming you can still see them.
Did you ask in your rom thread?

[Q] Mobile data issue

Hey!
I have found a really weird issue since (officially) updating to lollipop (N910C, BOC3). Initially, mobile data worked fine, but after a day or two I noticed, that after going off of wifi, I only got edge connection. I rechecked the settings, restarted the phone but the phone just doesn't go past edge (to 3g or hsdpa; no lte yet for me).
So I then chose to hard reset my phone, wipe cache and reinstall everything. At first, everything went fine and I had H+ connection, no problem. I tried to enable/disable wifi and mobile data a couple of times, but all seemed fine. Today (after 1 day), I noticed again that mobile data is stuck on EDGE.
As far as I remember, everything worked fine on 4.4.4. I even rechecked my sim and settings on my old XperiaZ, where H+ works normally.
Any ideas?
Best regards and ty.
Update: After messing around, I found that by setting the network to wcdma only, allowed the phone to connect to 3g. This means that when left on automatic network mode, the phone choses 2g network and won't switch to 3g even if it is available... Do you guys know a setting where you can tell it to preferentially chose 3g, while on the auto network mode? P.S. I don't have any battery saving options turned on...
Bump... No one knows how to set preferred connection type?
Are you in a room when you are testing? Have you tried to go outside, and while you are connected to edge or H/H+ , open up your internet browser and go to a website and watch your connection if it changes to LTE or 4G...
There is an app that can do what you are asking but you have to root your device in order for it to work... I can't remeber what it's called and I know someone will chime in...

UMI Super 3G instead of 4G

Hi,
did anyone using Umi Super have any problems with using 4G at 800MHz? Im on giffgaff and even though Umi Super is supposed to work at 4G under 800MHz (thats what the specification states) i cant manage to make it work. I have perfect 4G coverage, 4G sim, 4G tariff, even gave my sim to a friend with S7 edge and it worked on his phone. Maybe new update will fix that? I tried with different sim from different operator (LYCA) and it works but 4G in LYCA is at 2100MHz so I didnt really check the 800. I tried everything and still nothing. Did anyone have similar problem?
I actually bought 2 phones of the same model so I decided to check if 4G worked on the other one and as I put the sim card in I just remembered something and realized same thing happened with my phone. When I put the SIM card in for the first time it DID automatically go to 4G, ok, when I looked for available networks it found O2 4G, granted BUT!!! when i got to "preferred network type" there is only 3G to pick, and THE MOMENT I PICK IT there is not possible to go back. Every network I find from that moment is only 2G or 3G. Now i reckon that a software problem right? See attachments
It is a software bug and I think I sort it out after flashing the phone. For now I sorted out the problem using Networks app by Philipp Mangalov and switching network to LTE/GSM auto
Well it seems the data part of the UMI SUPER is not so super, is it? I face a similar problem but worse. The 4G band of 800 doesn't work(despite being advertized by UMI as supported) but luckily the band of 2100 works without any issues. The problem comes when I'm out of 2100 band coverage and phone must switch to 3G - then I lose all data connectivity completely. So basically whenever I'm out of 4G 2100 coverage(which is often) I am without any connectivity! Anyone facing the same? Solution?

I don't have this issue at all. My UMi Super connects perfectly to my 4g network under 800MHz without an issue here in Uganda. You can install the MTK Engineering app from the play store and check the band compatibility on ur device and you can also set the mode using the same app under android settings.
You could also try updating to the latest OTA which is 20160810 or the one before it by downloading the files from forum post here and saving them to ur phone and updating manually if you don't have the current OTA

GravityBox is a perfect solution for this problem. You can set up an icon in notification bar allowing You to toggle between 2G/3G/4G

This is indeed a software issue, one I have come accross many times - using an app to toggle between the service types is the best workaround!
There are many apps that work to resolve this, some great ones have already been mentioned.

You need Giff Gaff settings in access point name. If you try and use O2 4g it doesn't work even though Giff Gaff uses O2 network. Settings are really easy to input but MUST be Giff Gaff not O2.

There is a fix on rooted phones by using GravityBox and switching between 2G/3G/4G

All that's needed is GiffGaff settings inputing manually. Very easy to do. O2 settings that the phone recognises when a GiffGaff sim is used WILL NOT WORK. The Network is O2 but the APN settings for GiffGaff are totally different.
All you guys that think you know what you're doing obviously don't.
No need to Root or use GravityBox or any other App.

Well said. I just shake my head in despair when I see how totally clueless people try to be teachers and Internet gurus with very limited knowledge about the task at hand. These comments should come with warning stickers.
For those who want to be able to switch between 3G/4G and LTE only, use this nifty little APK that I've attached below. It will allow you to enter engineer mode without using the dial code.
Hi
This is a bug implemented in Android 7.0.
I had the same.
1 Just force in your parameters 2G/3G networks
2 wait for network authentification (no more excalamtion mark)
3 go back to 4G
Every thing will be OK to next switch off or plane mode.
Rgds,
LTE band 7 (2600) not working
I recently received my new Umi Super and updated to the last firmware V7.01_20170413, everything works fine except for the 4G. I live in an area where band 7 (2600) is available but the phone can't connect to it. Of course, my preferred network type is set to 4G/3G/2G (auto).
I read a lot about the issue on the internet but I can't find a solution.
I checked the BandMode on the phone by dialing *#*#3646633#*#*, band 7 is included and checked. However, when I tried to remove the other LTE bands and keep only band 7, I got a message explaining that the list can't be empty ("Failed. The band is changed from not null to null, it is illegal"), though the list was not completely empty because band 7 was still selected.
Also, I tried to change the radio band by dialing *#*#4636#*#*, but process com.android.phone stopped working when I pressed "select radio band", even after I cleared cache in phone and sim apps.
Can anyone tell me how to fix the problem and get connected to 4G.
BTW, Network by Philipp Mangelow is not available anymore. Switching between 3G/2G and 4G/3G/2G settings doesn't fix the issue. I tried the giffgaff settings, but the APN gets deleted as soon as I try to save it.
Thanks

You may try to force 3G and then try to force 4G
You may try to user another IMEI number from a UMI device with 2600 support (of course backup/write down the original one before just in case)
http://www.ucc.co.ug/data/imei/2
After the update to Nougat 7.x how long does it take to do a full recharge?
Do you still have fast charge feature (< 1 hour) or do you lost it like all users reported so far?
What about your GPS? Do you have a fast fix after cleaning history and is it reliable (not losing signal often?).

Is it safe to change the IMEI number? and where can I find another number for a UMI device?
GPS is working fine, it fixes pretty fast, but I'm not sure about interruption in the signal because I haven't used it enough yet
