You definitely are right about that but Samsung loves to wait months to give us a beta and sometimes they dont even do that

Got that right about Samsung being Slow and then we have to wait on AT&T for another few Months for them to get all their Junk to work with Update. Wish more were like Apple with their updates.

Probably not based on how long it took for nougat to come out for that model

Well I guess you realize that updates for Apple only a has to contend with 1 device. Whereas Android must accommodate countless devices.

looking at my signature one could tell my love for sammy but the lack of support by Samsung towards their tab range

you're right ex: sam:galaxy note 10.1it will never be updated to 4.4.2 although it's a strong tab and now i turned to z1 from s4
OK that article is a great news! BUT the question is When....we haven't even received 4.3 yet!!!!
I would bet that the only way any of us are gonna see 4.4.2 is when it comes on the new Galaxy Note Pro 8.4 if that ever comes! They just announced the 8" Tab Pro but no word on the new 8" note.

No rule says they need to update to 5.3 first. The HTC One skipped 4.2.x and went straight from 4.1 to 4.3. Well, some of them anyway.

but i strongly believe that article was a marketing strategy and samsung has got no such intentions because gear is old news now the models that were going to get the 4.3+ have already got it.

No. It actually going to be happen relatively sooner. As very good indication, Samsung will debut new Samsung S5 at MWC 2014, and possible annouce KitKat 4.4 updates for not-to-older devices as well. This is the only chance that Note 8 will get KitKat 4.4, remember that there's 18 months of software support for Android smartphones (Google’s 18 month mark), if it won't get 4.4 this time, it will never going to see 4.4 (officially at least)

Well until all my 400 apps are updated to properly run 4.4, I'd rather wait it out. Nothing like app bugs on an android device. Doesn't any of you notice how much apps are being updated. Gosh, since X-mas there has been one update after another for compatibility issues with 4.4, or bugs because of backwards compatibility after the 4.4 fix. Common Google! Get your act together or MS will kicky your lilly white bahookie!

Yes I believe they will, consider that there's not a lot of difference between 4.3 and 4.4, so it makes sense for Samsung to skip 4.3 for Note 8 and go straight to 4.4

Lollipop coming to NA Galaxy devices NOW

Hey Guy,
I have a friend that works for the mobile division of BestBuy and he saw an email that Samsung sent them that says Lollipop should be released within a few days. The email doesn't specifically give that information but he says it shows instructions on how to update the demo devices to Lollipop and how to reinstall the retail demo software after the update. He said usually those kind of emails are sent within days of the actual updates which would mean that most of the units on demo (Note 4, S5, Alpha and possibly Note 3) should be getting 5.0 within a few days. This update affects DEMO units which are not carrier branded which could mean, as usual, some carriers might keep that update for testing until they are comfortable it is fully compatible with their network.
This is good news for us, as Samsung has already started pushing Lollipop to some European countries.
I say mid February
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Possible, depending on the carrier. I think T-mo pushes the updates quite quickly
The T-Mobile Note 2 I had earlier was still on Jelly Bean. Is Lollipop coming to T-Mobile Note Devices anytime soon?
Find this with a quick Google search.

I read the galaxy s5 will get lollipop first early January, note 4 "soon after".

It's funny how several people can read the same articles and interpret it VERY differently. Samsung has announced THEY will be rolling out Lollipop...this means unbranded devices. Then one of the articles uses words regarding US carriers as "could" and "as early as January" adding the disclaimer that the carriers will do whatever they want regarding testing and timelines. So before you all continue fighting over vaporware, research all the articles on KitKat and Jellybean that all had the same wording, people still posting "We will haz JB tomorrow" and then the US carriers releasing an OTA 2 months later. Granted Sprint and T-Mobile are usually the firsts in the US carrier line because they do not have to worry about unlocking and relocking a bootloader without bricking devices on an OTA....so rather than fight...just wait...be patient for that new Knox loaded Lollipop update.
I will be cleaning the disrespectful posts from this thread and expect those who posted in such a manner to accept this as an official warning...do not do so again!

Galaxy Tab S2 (2015&2016) - Official Android 8.0 Oreo Update News

Hey guys!
I don't know if you already heard it but the Galaxy S6 lineup will probably receive Android 8.0. Many Samsung employees confirmed that and there is already a leaked list of devices which will get the update. Today I noticed that not only the S6 was mentioned on that list... the Galaxy Tab S2 will probably receive the update as well! In my opinion it is really great to see that the first premium devices from Samsung will get another update
What do you think?

Maybe we will get Samsung Experience 9.0 with the update. It would be very great to get some S8/S9 UI feauters
If Samsung's track record holds of two major version updates per flagship device, the 2016 Tab S2 should get Oreo. The 2015 may or may not - I guess it depends on whether Sammy is feeling generous.
I'm not sure who would hope their device doesn't get the update? While it's possible Samsung could pull an Apple stunt and kill performance with an Oreo update, that generally hasn't been an issue. In reality, it will just be security patches and support for newer apps. The days of new Android versions bringing sea changes of improvements appear to be in the past.

I agree Samsung seem to give 2 major updates to their flagships and higher spec devices.
The S2(2) should get Oreo. I'd say unlikely the S2(1)will see it.
As a 2015 owner, all I want for the last major update is a stable build without any major bugs. From then on, I'd just like the same build with the security updates. The current Nougat is pretty solid but the screen brightness does keep going up and down on some occasions.
i would love to see something for the 819N, i mean there isn't even any custom roms for that version of the tablet, i hope at least samsung goes oreo for it.

Probably 2016 model can hope for it because it has been shipped with 6.0 and also is not sure...but 2015 model should kill the idea because has been shipped with 5.0.1. Even if we could run oreo Sammy will never give a third major update to a 2015 device, even if the only difference between 2015 and 2016 is the CPU (correct me if i'm wrong)
I think it's crazy how Samsumg abandons its own products. I can understand their budget devices getting updates, but this is their only tablet line. Not to mention they were selling these for $400+ a pop (i got mine out of a pricing error for $200 though).
Just shows you that iPad should be the only tablet product to purchase from here on out... I think the last year and a couple months I've owned this it's been updated a whopping 3 times! Never again will I buy Samsung.

So what is your complaint exactly? You're angry about the fact that we didn't get a rom then, even though we're getting the latest version now? You knew about it, bought it, then came here to complain about it 7 months or so afterwards?
What was so important that changed from 7.0 to 7.1? I have a feeling you're just looking to whine about anything possible
My complaint is pretty clear, not sure why you can't see it.
When Android 7.1 was released, it was seen as a Nexus/Pixel exclusive with pixel-only exclusives. It's more surprising that the Note 8 did come with Android 7.1 than the S8 not getting an update. Most skinned manufacturers decided early on to skip 7.1 in favor of 8.0
Why didn't we get 6.1?
Samsung releases the major builds and frequent updates. We don't need stuff that's more suited for a pixel. If you're that concerned, buy a pixel.

Short answer. Do you seriously expect them to complile thousands of packages all over again for a version that changes basically nothing, only to do it all over again 2 months later for a major release?

This isn't the reason at all, Pie is out for the note 8/9. Problem is T-mobile needs to do testing with their software before it gets out to T-mobile customers.

This IS the point. Regardless of who is doing the testing, the freaking phone doesn't get the update. The Note 7 FE version got it already and we are still waiting. The Note 8 was a flagship a year ago. Updates should come in a month or two, not a year's time regardless of who is testing it. Both TMO and Samsung need to respond faster. Not a problem on my Pixel 3Xl since TMO doesn't need to "test it".

PIE is out for Sprint
Its been three weeks on the testing block and still no update. Its a shame tmobile lacking to update the note 8 knowing this was a flagship phone when it came out two years ago.
It'll be here in days.
Looks like ATT is rolling out as of now. Let's hope T-Mo has it together enough to be in the same ballpark as Sprint and ATT, at least.
T-Mobile begins to rollout Android 9.0 Pie for Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 phones
First Sprint, second AT&T and now T-Mobile is sending Android Pie for Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 phones that are running on Android 8.0 Oreo.
The latest software update bring Android version 9.0 Pie and Samsung's One UI interface along with new features. Also, the update contains March 2019 security patch including bug fixes and system improvements.

It's not out for the T-Mobile Note 8 yet. While ATT and T-Mobile have both pushed the S8 and S8+ updates, only ATT (and earlier Sprint) has pushed the Note 8 Pie update.

Again, that says only At&T note 8. Not for the T-mobile note 8.
