Any way to twrp a CID 11 sm-g900v? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I have a CID 11 sm-g900v that I would like to install twrp recovery on. Is there any way to unlock the bootloader or flash it or do anything to get twrp on it?
The reason I ask is I would love to have magisk manager on it, but from what I understand it needs twrp on the phone first.
I want to have root, but I also want to play certain games on Google Play that won't install if it detects you have root. Magisk has a way to hide root on your phone.
IMO it's complete BS that they do this. It's no one else's business if your phone is rooted or not. I kind of wish I could dual-boot my phone. One partition that has an OS with root access, and another partition with an OS that doesn't. Of course even if that was possible I would need an unlocked bootloader to do that.
Anyways any help would be appreciated.

Install TWRP using g odin

Nah sorry bro CID 11 has no bootloader unlock so you can't install TWRP.

My phone has cid 11 and I install TWRP and ROMs all the time!

What variant of the s5 do you have?

Kltevzw. I flash TWRP for klte in odin.

Unless you've somehow gotten it unlocked, then I doubt that. Give him some info rather than the one line answers.

What can I say? I download TWRP for klte on to my computer. I open the Odin program, left click run as administrator. In the AP slot I put TWRP for klte. Turn off phone and restart into download mode, or Odin mode as some call it. Plug it into the computer.I click Start. I then have root access and can install ROMs. I don't know what other information to give other than that

Actually, if there is some program I can use to get logs off of my phone for to show you something worth looking at, just tell me. I have no problem doing that

Unfortunately I don't know how to make a screenshot in download mode.

I put my phone in download mode and had my daughter take a picture of it. I'll post it somewhere. And put the link here

Great.
It has told us the truth.
Your phone is SM-S902L, this topic is about SM-G900V.
Please, have a look at the thread's title.

The sm902l is a g900v!

I'm afraid you're mistaken. They are quite different.
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SM-G900VZWAVZW-specs
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SM-S902LZKATFN-specs
At least, SM-S902L is a CDMA/LTE phone and SM-G900V is a CDMA/LTE/GSM/UMTS phone.

The only ROMs I can flash are g900v ROMs! Look at the post a few above this one- another guy has a g900v with unlocked bootloader! My phone is a g900v. Always has been. Kltevzw. Say what you will, but original poster, just put TWRP for klte on your phone with odin. You'll have root. End of story.

Bbsc- I have the Toshiba CID 11 chip. Look in the specs for my phone.

I just upgrade my g900v from Kitkat to Lollipop. Verizon locks the bootloader, so there's no way to get Clockwork or TWRP on it. However, many features of TWRP (including creating an image of the phone to SD card) are in SafeStrap, which does work on this phone. See my recent posts for the links I used to do this, or start researching SafeStrap to see if that will allow you to achieve your goal.

I've tried installing twrp on my phone using the standard method. It bricks the phone. I have to re-image the OS to get the phone working again. So no, we don't have the same phone.
Even if we did have the same model phone, this model has two different chips. I have the "bad" chip in my phone that is hard to work with.
I'm thinking of just getting rid of it. I've had to many issues with this and at this point I just hate it.
I wish phone manufacturers would stop the crap and just give us access to root. Why play all these games?

The only reason I want twrp is to install magisk manager so I can "cloak" the root on my phone and play games like super mario run (which won't install on rooted phones) and still have root access.
I have safestrap installed but when I install magisk it bricks the phone and I have to re-image it again.
I've re-imaged my phone like 5 times already. I'm sick and tired of it. My next phone will either have one-click root or I won't be rooting it. I'm never imaging a phone again.

[HELP] My Galaxy Note 3 (Verizon) is stuck in recovery mode

hi guys. I am in desperate need of help. I wanted to try using a custom rom for my phone and tried using safestrap 3.72. It didnt work, but then i found 3.75 on apotoide. I installed the recovery, rebooted, the continue/recovery menu did not pop up and i went into my regular rom (4.4.2 kitkat) and all my uis and touchwiz stopped. i tried to go into recovery mode and now im stuck in the menu with a screen saying "System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help. Ive looked around and people have said to try odin. im very new to this so i dont really know where to start. Im willing to do anything, even if it means just simply factory resetting my phone.
I've only used odin once. It reinstalls firmware (like a factory reset). It worked like a charm. I followed the steps here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2576104
There may be an easier solution and this won't even work if you cannot get to download mode in your phone so you may want to wait for a more experienced user for more specific help.

thanks. i did get into download mode. im going to try the link you sent
Of course you need to follow all the steps which will include installing odin into your computer and downloading the right firmware. The newest is nc4.
---------- Post added at 02:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:17 PM ----------
I assume you cannot boot up phone normally. If you could you just had to open safestrap app (not the recovery). Choose uninstall recovery. Then phone is back to normal. Reboot. Should boot normally with no custom recovery Then open safestrap app install recovery and choose the 3.75 instead of 3.72.

i have installed odin and nc4. i just gotta wait for the dl to finish
i was able to normal boot my phone but all the processes keep crashing so i cant even reach my lock screen. this seems to be my option at the moment
Ok, that should do the trick. I haven't tried towelroot yet. Of course you'll need to root again so let me know how you make out.
I originally rooted with kingo but I have a new phone now in nc4 so I do not think kingo works and not sure if towelroot does.

Sorry I completely forgot to respond here again. So I did the Odin thing. I still had all my uis crashing but I was able to go into recovery mode without the software thing popping up anymore so I decided to factory reset now. Didn't lose much at all really. All my important stuff was on the SD card. I then downloaded towelroot so my phone is rooted again.
So everything's fine now. Thanks again for your help
Excellent. I wasn't sure towelroot would work after installing NC4. Now I know I can root again if I want to but all my backups are useless because I was in jellybean then.

[Q] Galaxy Core Prime - SM-G360P - Root?

So I see there are a bunch of variants of this device... why? Any chance anyone has had any luck getting an G360P rooted?
I started another thread because I don't see this variant listed on the forums so far. Here is the software for it:
http://samsung-firmware.org/downloa...nt USA)/6e85/BST/G360PVPU2AOH1/G360PSPT2AOH1/
I have the Virgin Mobile phone, but Sprint and Virgin are usually the same, and this build matches mine.
I have tried everything -- KingRoot, KingORoot, Towel Root, iRoot, Etc.. no go. Was kinda hoping Root and CWM/TWRP would have been already available, but I assume all the variants make it a pain.
I have the Galaxy core prime from metro. I achieved root through Odin 3.10. Check all developer options like the untrusted sources and enabling download mode options as well as stay awake and whatnot. Put the trap kernel in the AP section of odin, boot your phone in download mode and press start.
If odin isn't doing anything you may need to check through your devoloper tools for anything that seems at all relevant to achieving root.

OK update on this. Twrp works to boot into recovery mode, through I am still unsure whether or not a custom kernel installed this way will brick it. As soon as I find a safe kernel I will update again.

Yes I GOT ROOT for this phone G360p mines a boost mobile variant. sprint owns boost mobile bla bla bla but our version G360p is the same regardless if its sprint, virgin, metro or whatever. anyways u can root this phone with kingo root...... use the PC version of kingo root not the apk. the apk wont root your phone but the PC windows version will. install all your drivers on a windows PC before running kingo root, leave your phone on and allow any requests kingo send to your phone while its plugged in vis usb, it will run and re boot your phone a few times then it will ask you if your sure about installing software, allow it and your phone should go itnto download mode and rebboot, if your phone does all that you should be rooted once it boots back up........
hit me up if you cant figure it out but i know it works cause im rooted with the same build your is.

ive been trying to install twrp or cwm on my g360p for some time now with no luck... ive read people are able to get other variants g360h, hu, f, to work with twp but those phones have different chip sets i think even though there the same phones basically, what twrp did you get to work on your phone? i found a twrp for sprint core prime lte but i cant get it to work on my prevail lte which is the same damn phone just a diff variant of it. maybe i need to open the .img file and remove and add my specific stuff that the sprint has different but i dun knw how to do tht
My G360P on Boost
Kingo root looks to be the most promising for the Samsung core Prime series I know that the apk you can request implementation for your specific model and architecture and they did just updated on the 11th of November however everything that I've read said the same as you which was to download the PC version and it's supposed to be the easiest hassle-free for noob developers I have it downloaded but I have not tried the PC version yet I was still hoping for the non PC root apk version but I may be trying that today I will keep you guys updated on how it goes wish me luck
If you want to lose King root and move on to Chainfire's supersu install supersu me let it wipe out the King root it will install Chainfire superuser and you will have full root without King root you may have to do it once or twice depending on your phone variant but i really admire your prime LTE 3 boost with this process and got full root access with Chainfire super su with no root exploit other than supersu

There are at least 4 different Core Prime phones. The early ones released 2014 early 2015 with KitKat were rootable using Odin. The SM-G361F was released 2015 with Lollipop 5.1.1,
and that phone can not be rooted!! Maybe SM-G360P is the same. No one knows why Samsung made 4 models (at least) of practically same phone. There are some differences inside, thats all. But nothing that stands out.
Chainfire's Autoroot WITHOUT TRASHING RECOVERY!
I created a variation of Chainfire's Auto Root (autoroot.chainfire.eu) by taking his version of the SMG530BT and the stock recovery of the SM-G360P.
I tested it with my "unrooted stock" Boost Mobile SM-G360P with firmware G360PVPU2AOH1 and G360PVPS2APE2 but I would recommend updating the phone to the latest firmware - G360PVPS2APE2.
Just follow the directions (I used windows 10):
1. Plug phone into computer with USB.
2. Make sure phone is powered down.
3. Hold Volume Down and Home buttons then press the Power button until "SM-G360P" logo appears and let go of the Power button only.
4. The phone should prompt if you want to go to "Download Mode".
5. Let go of all buttons.
6. Press Volume Up
7. Phone should enter download mode.
8. On computer download my modified CF Autoroot file: drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0BzMAcTVdvKEncjhYNHZLc2g0eFU
9. Unzip file into a folder.
10. Run odin.
11. Click on "AP"
12. Pick "CF-Auto-Root-coreprimeltespr-coreprimeltespr-smg360p.tar.md5"
13. File should pass verification.
14. Click on "Start"
15. Wait for "Download Mode" to finish and DO NOT UNPLUG PHONE!!!
16. Phone should reboot and flash "SM-G360P" about 3 times before going to "Android Update" dialog.
17. Wait for phone to boot.
18. Once booted you should see the new SuperSU app already on your phone.
Going to Recovery mode
1. Restart phone
2. Hold Volume Up and Home
3. Phone should boot into a working stock recovery!
Enjoy!

Does anyone know how to unlock the hotspot/tether. I get error "you are not sub. to hotspot service". Tried some root wifi apps, not working either.
Edit: NVM, figure it out
I have few questions:
1) - My Samsung is SM-G360T, instead of SM-G630P... Does it work anyway...?
2) - If I do it, I will be able to unlock my mobile from T-Mobile (USA), so I can use in other companies...?
3) - If I do it, I will loose all my data (contacts, apps, messages, etc)...?
Thanks in advance,

LG Stylo 2 (LS775) root?

I recently purchased an LG Stylo 2. It just came out and I am looking to root it. However, I have not found a way to root it, both manually and through any one-click software. I had an LG Volt before this, that I rooted manually. However, I have yet to come across any method to rooting the LG Stylo 2. Is there any method as of late?

Heya - Yeah the boot loader will unlock from ads fastboot in a sec. the fastboot on the phone (I have the ms550 Metro version) is crippled, however. it will not fastboot boot so you can't just grab a twrp and test it by throwing it at it. I would like to test more, I'm willing to flash whatever since I know the download mode will let us fix all....I'm just trying to get a kdz file so I can have it in the background just in case I totally F it up
Obviously without the twrp I can't flash any of the su versions.
My spidey sense tells me it's not that far away for us. Just be patient. I love the phone ( I liked my G Stylo as well)

If I'm not mistaken I believe the phones are pretty much the same specs still aside from the camera. I have a bootable TWRP. If you run ATB you can boot into this trip without installing it I'd be more than happy to upload it for you guys. I believe the original maker was either Game Theory or DrakenFX.

Can you do that for us along with instructions? I'm kinda scared to do anything with my Stylo 2 since its basically untested and it is my daily driver.
Here ya go...boot zip with instructions
When you are supposed to boot the zip... Type in : fastboot boot.zip instead of twrpblah blah blah....i renamed it to be easier
Any way to flash this twrp thing your talking about without a comp..ill be honest ive only just started to root the last couple phones i owned and have tried to flash any kernels or roms or custom recoverys...but i really want to change up this stylo 2..and the opting out of adpotable storage lg sony and few others did is drove me crazy..i wish i woulds known before i bought this dumb thing

I'm confused. Does installing TWRP get us any closer to root? I mean it's good to be able to get a backup, but it's really root that I want.
Style 2
If boot loader is unlocked in a sence u can get root by pushing su right? And how do u get into factory recovery?
In the event that this fails (Since I have the Stylo 2 and not the Stylo) and my phone bricks, is there a program to de-brick?
Hmm, When I type in "adb reboot bootloader", my phone reboots. back to the lockscreen.

Okay so i acquired an lg v20 . my quesriom is as follows . i would like ro know if it's possible still to root and install cwm or tarp on this device ? Im on h191820f software verdiom . I'm pretty familiar with flashing some and rooting and breaking Knox on Samsung phones but I don't want to risk bricking this one by an incorrect procedure / yes i know there is always the risk of bricking. Anyway do I need to some how roll back or is it just a straight shot of using adb and unlockong bootloader and flashing recovery ?

You will need to use a kdz to roll back to 10p then use the instructions in the laf exploit thread to root and install TWRP then you can update back to oreo using the rooted stock Oreo rom

I don't have it as I don't have a h918 I believe you can get kdz from LG website

It's a fairly simple process overall once you have the rooted Oreo ROM flashable zip stored someplace; my recommendation is to have a microSD card handy to put that archive on. You don't need to root the device before you do all this, root is not required to get from what you have right now to the rooted Oreo ROM (which has Magisk preinstalled).
- roll back to 10p (which you can easily do on the H918)
- install TWRP using the lafsploit which requires that Linux USB stick you create which does NOT require you to install Linux on your computer, you will simply make the USB stick and then boot the computer from THAT USB STICK and do what's necessary, it takes like 5 minutes start to finish
- once you reboot back into TWRP the recommendation (at least mine) is to install TWRP (the latest version) directly to the Recovery partition where it belongs and then restore the laf partition (there's a flashable Zip in that same thread to do that), and then shutdown the device totally
- reboot into the freshly installed TWRP (on the Recovery partition) with the Volume Down + Power button (hold Power till you see the LG logo, release it and quickly press it again), then choose Yes for the two options
- once you're in TWRP nice and proper, then you'd do a full wipe (system/data/cache/Dalvik/internal storage - but only do the internal storage IF you have the Oreo ROM flashable zip on a microSD card, if not then it'll have to be on internal storage which of course you don't want to wipe but you can always copy that file to it from inside TWRP if needed from a computer)
- install the rooted Oreo ROM flashable zip, let it boot after it's done, then I'd say do another regular wipe (data/cache/Dalvik cache) and then you'll be totally good to go after the next reboot and initial setup
I've done this like 8 times on my V20 of late for testing purposes and it's relatively easy IF YOU FOLLOW THE STEPS that are provided in the necessary threads.
im done. im tired of trying to do this root bull crap. i got the lg v20 in 2019 because i wanted something that was high end. i got that, but no root or recovery...... why cant root be as easy as just flashing twrp via fastboot and then flashing magisk via the recovery like it is on the budget lg devices like the lg aristo 2..... :\ this blows.

But no, instead we have to do all this dumb ****. downgrading firmwares, booting linux from a pendrive, restoring laf partitions. WHAT EVEN IS LAF?! ive never heard of it in my whole life. wish i hadn't have heard of it. its all just one big ass headache. then, to even get the lastest android update, and keep root. you have to flash that too. why is it so damn hard now. i mean seriously, has the android security been upgraded that much?????????????

i know all this stuff seems easy to you guys, but considering the fact that i have learning disabilities in real life, it's really really hard for me

I understand you have learning disabilities but the steps are pretty straight forward. If you need help just pm me and I can walk you through the steps. Or you can ask a question on XDA. Just be polite when asking...

Finding my phone remotely

Hello I'm looking for help to gain root permission on my G6+.
I recently realized that if I loss my phone without the GPS turned ON then I can´t track it (that's why google's "find my device" is useless).
So I found an app called Cerberus that can enable my GPS remotely, but for that I need root access.
Can get that access without twrp and flashing new images? I mean in an easier/safer way?
Thanks!

You have to first unlock the bootloader, then you can Boot TWRP and flash magisk, but are you asking can you root the device remotely?

Rooting an A/B device can be a little tricky, especially if you have an encrypted ROM. There are good guides for rooting previous ROMs but this last update requires several extra steps.

No, what i'm looking for is to gain root permissions in an easy way to instal an app that can remotely turn on my GPS to find it in case I lost it

That's why I'm trying to avoid rooting as seen on posted guides. I'm fine with my ROM I just need to fix that finding my device issue.
