Mobile GSM Data issues after unlock - Sprint LG G6 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I'm outside of USA.
I have unlocked Sprint LG G6 using service from ebay.
For now I can use GSM sim card and make a calls. I configured APN and data turns ON and web browsing is working fine.
BUT messangers works very odd... telegram sends only text, not photos, viber not works at all....
Why? It's sprint specific setting like tunneling/proxy? How I can remove it? Any workarrounds?
Thanks

Strange... I don't use Viber or Telegeam, but I am using my G6 on Verizon and have had no issues aside from the lack of VoLTE and native VVM...

The same problem. Download works ok, upload is very limited by small data packets =(

Could you resolve that problem, I am facing the same here

Same problem here. Outside US. I Cant connect to LTE or 4g only H. Speed test upload is always cero.

I have the same Issue. I even got it unlocked using both, GCPro and Octoplus through a third party from ebay. for both cases I did a hard reset first (which SIM locked the Phone back again). Both of them with same results. Unlocker told me only successful unlock can be done on V4 of the phone. I am currently running V6.

Non-US countries use different bands from the United States for LTE that US phones can't use.

How did you get your LS993 working on Verizon?

Wifi Tethering
One odd thing is that even though I can't seem to get any upload speed when using my phone. when I use it as a Wifi hotspot, all other devices using my 4G data can upload things perfectly and get readings on upload speed. Can this be due to a blocked tunnel?

I have the same issue here in the US. Unlocked my LS993 from eBay using gc pro. My doewnload speeds are fine but my upload is essentially 0. So my browser always times out.
Any solutions?

Guys, any updates? we can donate to anyone who solve the issue...

I'm having the same issues. Would flashing to a different rom help?

I've faced with the same issue - the phone does not upload data and has issues with downloading (chrome works fine, but WhatsApp and Facebook doesn't see the WCDMA network). I'm from Ukraine and I've tested it on our Life operator, which has almost the similar 3G bands:
Life 3G Bands: 1920-1935 MHz, 2110-2125 MHz
Sprint 3G Bands: 1 (1920 - 1980 2110 - 2170), 10 (1710 - 1770 2110 - 2170)
So there I see that the phone is possibly trying to use different frequencies for different tasks and different applications.
If it is possible to find where is it set in Android and change it - this could be the solution. I suppose.

There is someone in Mexico who has already figured this out, he fixed mine and now showing Upload speeds up to 8 mb/s. PM me and I will provide his contact information. He is not charging for this info but you can donate him for this research time invested.

Tested this and working on my Sprint G6, thanks alot man. But I know Sprint updates can sometimes disable features, is it likely that the hidden menu will be removed with any new software updates?

Many thanks for the solution.
Does your "Select SPR if you have the sprint phone." means that I should use SPR if this phone had originally belonged to sprint, or that I currently use sprint?
I currently use non-USA MNO and it is not present in the list, so I wonder about should I choose SPR, or VZW, or NONE....

How do I find out the dvp bands version?

Hi! would someone please tell me if there is a way to find out if I have a
US Model: UMTS850, UMTS1900, UMTS2100
or
AWS Model: UMTS900, UMTS1700, UMTS2100
"System View" app says it is HSDPA 850/1900/2100, but no other app says that kind of info.
I have an unlocked dvp I got from ebay, the seller said twice that it is a UMTS850..., like for at&t,
but
the problem I have is that there is no way I can get 3G signal here in Costa Rica, I have a 3G sim also, with 1MB internet but the phone only gets "Edge" signal for 128kbits/s internet, I have 3G option enabled btw, and I also messed up with EM, and the RF power stuff was set to UMTS 1700, I changed it to 850, setted and that doesn't changed anything.
Tried some test in the tmobile section and some tests say WCDMA disabled or something like that.
Also if someone know a way to force WCDMA / UMTS / HSDPA ?? of enable it?
or set manually frequencies, or know which version I have.
BTW! internet speed works as it should be on a 3g datacard con my pc, but not on the 3 cellphones I tested.

[Q] LTE Bands supported by UK LG G2 (D802)

Does UK LG G2 (D802) support LTE Band 20 (800 MHz) used by O2 UK?
Does anyone know this?

1) Go to Phone, just enter following command,
*#*#4636#*#* (no need to press Green Dial Button after this).
2) Once you enter last *, Testing menu will appear. From that menu, select "Phone Information"
3) Scoll down little and you will see "Set Preferred network type". There is dropdown at this location which shows all the networks.
Just note,This is testing menu. It will show all the options like CDMA/WCDMA, GSM, LTE etc. It does not mean that all the networks are supported.
Just insert LTE sim and change option of preferred network from above list to LTE only and check if that works.
Officially it supports 850, 900 bands. But I am wondering if the bands are only controlled software side seeing that the antennas and hardware seem to be streamlined across all versions.
On the box it says:
LG-D802
LTE 2100/1800/2600/900/800
6GB
BLACK BLACK
Thank you for the test menu you solved my problem I just bought the d802 would not work on my 4g sim in uk changed to lte and all good thanks.
Sorry to bring this one back form the dead but the original question doesn't appear to be answered to me...?
I am on Three in the UK and they are rolling out 4G on 800Mhz and 1800Mhz. Complete noob here, but from what I have read 800Mhz has greater range and building penetration (at the expense of some speed), which is great. Except that the G2 doesn't actually support 800Mhz LTE, or does it?

I found and downloaded the free app 4G LTE Switch from the play store to help with this.
While it doesn't solve the problem of having to manually select LTE after each reboot, it saves you from having to dial the code yourself. Instead, just launch the app and it takes you right to those settings. I find it very useful and time saving! :good:

No problem man. I didn't give up searching and actually followed this thread, where it says "No 4G/LTE?" and tried putting my networks actualy LTE band (17) in there instead of 11 and 13. While it now gived the option of selectiong LTE in the dropdown menu of preferred networks, for some stupid reason, the phone STILL doesn't save the setting and you still have to go back to the menu again after a restart to enable LTE.
While it is even easier than the method I said earlier, still frustrating that even after selecting it in the menu, that it still defaults back to GCM/CDMA!
There just HAS to be a way to make this stick. Any devs out there who could look into this further???

Hello,
I am from Portugal, so your mobile could say something rather different. But in essence is all the same.
My version is the D802, International model, just like yours.
1.st step - Provider:
The provider part is always the first to be deal with.
Make sure you go to your operator and ask to enable your SIM-card to have access to LTE.
2.nd step - Equipment:
Go to Definitions -> "Network" tab -> "Sharing connecting & Network" on the bottom -> "Mobile Network" third from last ->
a) Make sure that "Enable Data" is checked;
b) Go to "Network Mode" and choose the option: "GSM (2G) / WCDMA (3G) / LTE (4G) auto".
This way you will always have automatic access to the best network available.
All the people who choose the 4G/LTE only option should check this mode, so you can access 3G when 4G is not available, instead of having no connecting.
Any doubt you have, just ask!
Best regards.

Step 2 in bold, that's not an option. 3 options are
1. GSM / WCDMA auto
2. WCDMA only
3. GSM only
However when using the 4G switcher app you can change it to GSM (2G) / WCDMA (3G) / LTE (4G) auto and it works fine, but on reboot just defaults back to GSM / WCDMA auto.
Our D802 supports 1800 Mhz and 2600 Mhz frequencies for sure.
But to get the LTE toggle to show up in the network selection menu, we need to insert a LTE capable sim or usim. Tried and tested and not a here say.
If you do not get LTE option in network selection then your sim is not LTE capable. Simple.

The option in my phone is:
"GSM (2G) / WCDMA (3G) / LTE (4G) auto"
All this information at one option.
So the phone can choose the highest band level.
This is a problem with your ROM or a problem with your SIM.
And, as I said in my first post, go always first to your provider and ask him form help.
Making sure the SIM part is enabled and fully accessible.
The bands are not important here.
That is because, if you bought your smartphone in the UK, LG made available the D802 model to make your smartphone antenna frequencies correspond to those available at your country.
This will matter if you want to achieve maximum speed of 150Mbps.
But if you want just the regular user experience, you sure have access to LTE network.
In wikipedia (I could not find a good source, as GSMArena make no reference on the version D802)
Wikipedia -> LG G2 -> Specifications
D802 supports 4G/LTE bands:
800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600
And here you can see the bands of your provider/network:
Wikipedia -> List of LTE networks -> Europe
EE: 1800, 2600
Hutchison 3: 800, 1800
O2: 800
UK Broadband: 3500, 3600
Vodafone: 800
This is wikipedia information, so take this with a pinch of salt, and search for a better source.

Its a UK sim free handset, and i'm on tesco (which is O2).
Sim card is fine as tested in another 4G phone and defaults to 4G as it should after collecting the APN settings from the network. Checked the APN and both the exact same compared to the one the LG G2 is using.
I'm using stock rom and this happened initially on JB, then updated to KK, factory reset, and still the same, then updated last week, still the same.
From reading this thread looks like i'm not the only one.

Wikipedia, and other websites, say O2 only acquired 800MHz band for LTE.
And LG G2 D802 only supports:
850 (band 5), 900 (band 8), 1800 (band 3), 2100 (band 1), 2600 (band 7) MHz.
I saw this at PhoneArena, GSMArena and ATGSM.
This brings a problem for people which their carrier only emits LTE at 800MHz, when not supported by come smartphones.
But I recommend you all to ask LG about the frequencies supported by the LG G2 D802 version, and ask your network carrer/ provider for LTE frequencies.
That way you will be absolutely sure about its compatibility or not.

wikipedia is saying....LTE band support 800/900/1800/2100/2600, however tesco (o2) are definitely on 800mhz, so must be something to do with LG so it will no doubt be them who has to answer the question, and never do anything about it.

Try one of the following hidden menu to select the LTE network:
1- Band selection: *#2263#
2- Service main menu: *#27663368378#
3- Band mode: *#4636# --> Device information --> scroll down and select 'Set preferred network type'
4- Radio info: *#4636# --> Device information --> menu --> Select radio band
If you have difficulty in launching these secret codes, install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app or Shortcut Master app, open the menu 'Secret Code Explorer' to launch the codes.

I just look to see what band is LTE on T-Mobile and what band my model has. I see tmobile lte band is 1700/2100 but my phone model has 1800/2100 so I don't think it was possible to connect to LTE.
I also tried the secret code thing and it gave me "connection problem or invalid mmi code
You didn't tell us how you went about searching, so we can't identify why your search missed so many relevant posts.
In any event, compare the band coverage by the two models below. You can see that your 900L is missing four LTE bands, half of the bands in use by TMobile. So yes, your phone can connect to the TMB network. But it will have substandard coverage, be subject to congestion and dropped connections. And perhaps have no LTE coverage at all in fringe areas that are only served by a subset of bands.

Meizu MX5 no 4G network capabilities

Hello,
I have been using my Meizu MX5 for about two months now without the 4G network working. I have recently updated to the latest firmware and I am currently running Flyme OS 4.5.2.7A and that has not solved any issues either.
I have checked that the phone settings are configured properly.
Network Mode is set to "4G First".
The phone is pending between, H-, H and H+ connection (3G I believe?)
I have checked with my provider and these are the following frequencies which should be providing 4G in my country (Sweden) for the provider:
800Mhz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2600MHz
Other providers have the same frequencies as well.
I have also gotten two new SIM-Cards during this period of time without it solving any issues. I have tried the SIM cards in some other phones and they get 4G connection without any issues.
I have been in contact with Meizu customer support in China and after some random troubleshooting of factory resetting and reinstalling the same firmware on the phone without solving anything.
They have also provided me information regarding the different bands/frequencies which the phone operates on:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (900/1800/1900MHz)
WCDMA/HSPA+: Band 1/2/8 (900/2100MHz)
FDD LTE: Band 1/3 (1800/2100MHz)
TD-SCDMA: Band 34/39 (no freqency specified)
TD-LTE: Band 38/39/40/41 (no frequency specified)
I am not 100% sure on how this works but according to the information I am given, the phone and my provider share at least one frequency for the 4G network and therefore I do not understand why it is not working.
I am sure that it is software related and thus I won't send my phone back to China (4-8 weeks delivery time and all expenses has to be paid by me) for them to troubleshoot.
Anyone here who has knowledge which could give me an answer?
Kind regards,
Martin
Hi mate.
I had this problem but upgraded to new firmware late last night and it came on. Thankfully!
Give it a try
Hi,
I have checked the upgrade app on the phone and it says I have the latest firmware.
Which firmware version are you running?
Kind regards,
Martin
Maybe it is an APN related problem. Look if you have the same data as in the other phones that 4G works

Hi iicc,
Thank you for the reply.
I have checked the APN settings about four-five times and I can't find any inconsistencies. I have even crosschecked it with a support technician from my provider.
The only things I can think of is either my anntenna being gimped, that the firmware is not properly developed or that somehow there's trash in my system and that my phone maybe needs a complete wipe and reinstallation.
After the upgrade to firmware 4.5.2.7A the phone does not even hint on trying to connect to 4G. Pre-upgrade it atleast connected to 4G for about 5 seconds and then went down to 3G.
Kind regards,
Martin

The only things I can think of is either my anntenna being gimped, that the firmware is not properly developed or that somehow there's trash in my system and that my phone maybe needs a complete wipe and reinstallation.
After the upgrade to firmware 4.5.2.7A the phone does not even hint on trying to connect to 4G. Pre-upgrade it atleast connected to 4G for about 5 seconds and then went down to 3G.
Kind regards,
Martin

And have you tried to factory data reset the phone?

Hello,
I have been using my Meizu MX5 for about two months now without the 4G network working.
Kind regards,
Martin

Let me try to come up with something that might be your problem. If you are using 3 as your mobile provider then they use FDD-LTE band 7 & 20 none of which are supported by the MX5 and 3 are also using TDD-LTE band 38 which is supported by the MX5, but might not be available in your area.
If you are on Net4Mobility then they use FDD-LTE 3,7,8 & 20 of which only 3 is supported, so it could that in your area there is no coverage with band 3.
If you are on Telia, the story is pretty much the same as Net4Mobility as they use FDD-LTE 3,7 & 20.
In order to get more from your phone. You can open up google and search for 'meizifan eu' and go to the website. They have a pretty good description of how you install the international version of FlyMe on your MX5, the international version is called 4.5.2.7i. I believe it activates some other FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE bands.
1800Mhz band is a short range, higher bandwidth frequency which usually is less common and given that it has a short range it most likely isn't available in your area.

Thank you for the reply nasty_suicide!
I am using Comviq Tele2 as provider, which should use the Telia net.
This is what I believe as well, but I really thought there was no way to flash the international version onto the phone and was about to abandon ship by buying a new phone yet again.
I will try to install the International version as soon as I have time to follow through the steps. I have found the guide on Meizufans.
Once I have installed the international version I'll let everyone know the outcome.
Kind regards,
Martin
Hi Hawdes,
I've exactly the same problem as you do, please post back once you instal I version. I was planning to do so but since I already have everything installed I didn't want to go through trouble for nothing.
What were the results of this? Is it true that firmware can affect the signal received?
upgraded to the latest firmware yet?
Samsung galaxy s7 4G problem
What about in Samsung galaxy s7 version of Flyme OS?? I cannot see 4G option.

Unlock Bands is already possible

I have a ta-1083 with bands b7 and b28 blocked, I've searched in several places on google and still could not find something that can release these bands,
Has anyone with this problem been able to solve this problem?
I like the device, but it's already boring with this situation
Thank you all
No way. It's not going to happen. Quit wasting your time and buy another phone that has the bands you need.
Thanks for the answer, and this is very sad to read
6.1 plus supports all the bands. You can use this code *#*#4636#*#* to change bands and it works.

Yes, it runs on 4g, but in bands like b5 and b3, but these are not standard here in Brazil, the network with the largest coverage is b7 that runs at 2600mhz,
So it fluctuates a lot between bands and often loses the signal altogether
I've changed a lot in these settings, but it doesn't solve 100%

No, you don't know what a band is. You can't use the test menu to add additional LTE bands. Kindly refrain from posting this idiocy here.
I know what is LTE Bands. 6.1 Plus supports all the bands but the fact it is configured in such a way the user can't change it hence the network switches bands automatically.
The LTE Only option configure the network to the 4G but yes you don't have the option to lock a particular frequency unlike other stock Android devices.
I dont know about other countries but here in India I use Jio 4G with 6.1 Plus my phone locks into 850Mhz , 1800Mhz & 2300Mhz (Jio supports it) simultaneously depending upon the conditions in my location.
The Android one might have disabled advanced band locking (FDD & TDD) feature. I'm not talking idiocy here.

You are not talking about the same thing. The OP of this thread wanted to unlock bands that this phone doesn't normally support. We're not talking about "band locking".
Oh yeah this doesn't supports 2600Mhz
