[Q] China Version Same as International Version? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Does anyone know if the China version of the OnePlus 5 is the same as the international one? I might be able to pick one up from China. Judging from the Chinese specs page, it appears the only thing that is different is the OS? I live in Canada.

If i recall correctly there was a Global and a Chineese version, and the Chineese version didn't support as many bands as the Global did, btw this was on the OP3.

I'm fairly sure, during yesterday's announcement, OnePlus mentioned there was but one OP5 "global" model. So it sounds like only language and maybe apps (non/removed, Google apps in any country that bans them) would be unique.

One version, global! No more confusion. The OP5 supports around 40 bands used around the world!

Does Chinese version of Oneplus 5 have blocked google play store? Is different from international version?

Someone at the OnePlus forums mentioned the China version won't have warranty support? Meaning if my phone is defective, I'm SOL?

Just got mine today.. H2OS.. without google apps.. wonder if i can just install with google installer

I didn't realize OnePlus had Live Chat until just now. I asked in Live Chat and the CSR assured me that if I buy the OnePlus 5 in China, use it in Canada, and there's a hardware defect, I won't have problems with warranty coverage. I got a copy of the chat just in case.

can you maybe show a proof? Because I'm thinking to return my Oneplus that I bought from their site and get one from china. Don't ask why.

OK so at the risk of sounding lost here, why the hell are you guys buying a china version to use in Canada?

well I was thinking about it because I could save like ~50€ and it only would take 7-10 days to deliver. Another plus is that I don't even have to pay any customs at least here for germany because they will send it from Hong Kong to UK and from UK to germany.
So, why not save these 50€ when you would get the same phone? I only need to inform now how it looks like with the warranty coverage.

Don't trust everything in their live chat. As we've learned time and time again, they give a lot of fake info and make random BS up.

i got my OP5 (Midnight Black) here in China, i could confirm following:
- phone came with H2OS, which is for Chinese customer, and is without Google stuff;
- i successfully usb/adb flashed the os into O2OS;
- now i have all the Google stuff (including Assistant) out of the box, not some workaround solution.
hope it helps.

China version comes with H2O OS and different charger, otherwise it is completely global device, just install OOS

so you don't think you'll get the warranty?
EDIT: nvm I wrote with the Live Chat and they told me it depends on where you buy the phone. In my case it would be Hong Kong / china, so yeah, almost no chance for me.

If i have chinese version with hydrogen os
Can I load the oxygen os using the command "adb sideload <filename>"?
Do I have to do any additional work?

Sorry but here, they just tell they have the parts in Amaerica, not that you 'll have warranty cover... CS doens't answer about sendind it to china or not.
And you tell them Buy it in CHina but buying it on the grey market is different than buying it from the official channel in China.
IMO it doens't worth to bet on that to spare just a few $...
Edit : for ex. I've seen OPX owners that were screwed because they couldn't change their screen via the official channel because it was bought from China. So it costed them more than double

My shipment is Missed! your advice please

Gentlemen,
I need your advice.
I purchased HTC Touch HD ,more than one, devices with some accessories from (www. . . . . .co.uk) website last Wed 17-Dec-2008 and it was shipped through a well known courier company. It was expected to be delivered on Dec20.
I followed up with the two parties.
Conclusion: the shipment is confirmed to be missed (lost) and can not be traced.
The sender company representative emailed me today that I should wait until all parties' offices open after Xmas leave and until that they can not assist me.
I live outside UK.
1-What should I do?
2-What compensation I'm entitled to claim?
Your advice please.
Thank you.

Hello,
I am looking to purchase the Touch HD asap. I found a UK seller called Electronics system (Dave Peter) but his price is very low at $330 shipped to Los Angeles. Just emailed him now, to see if he can take credit cards through a PayPal type service. Are there any places you would recommend to purchase from?
Thanks!

I've had very good experience with clove.co.uk.
The $330 price is suspiciously low - significantly lower than what I've paid for with 2 year contract
I bet it was those horrid people at DHL or BusinessPost.
Thanks DigiMagic, I now agree. But with all the pain issues, I've been reading about here, I think I may hold off on a purchase.

Interesting and possible they got some of the Ones released in Germany (Their physical address on the site says "Warsaw, Poland"). I'd have to check on them before I bought anything since I've never heard of them.
Just found this on a quick Google search for them: http://www.scamadviser.com/is-idigitalshop.com-safe.html
Not sure if they're good or bad, but they are very new apparently.

But I still don't believe they have them in stock. (especially the RED one!!!)
Really don't think its true since they claim to have a "Red HTC One" in stock.. someone call contact them and find out
i made a contact yesterday, thay told me so.. i was wondering if someone has already bought something from them

mmm... why the hell they should use anonymous service??
I'm from Warsaw and they use false postal code... I've asked them a question, now waiting for answer, but I'd be very careful.
Sounds too good to be true
Apparently they have a mobile number in the contact us page which is always off lol
Actually it's not a mobile, but it still sounds too suspicious for me.
Come on, guys: it's a SCAM!
They pretend to have in stock the Red one and to sell all versions a a ridicolous price!!! :silly:

My ongoing experience with winning an invite, buying, receiving, and RMA'ing the OPO.

Last updated: July 16, 9:50PM MST
First and foremost, my invites are already spoken for if and when I get them (none issued yet). I feel for those that didn't get one, but then again after my experience it may be worthwhile to wait for a newer batch or even avoid the OPO all together.
Also, I don't post very often so I apologize if this is in the wrong forum for whatever reason.
Alright, so I was pretty excited to see that I won an invite to purchase a OnePlus One through the Storm of Invites contest. I had been looking forward to this phone since I'd been between the Nexus 5, Moto X, and Note 3 for the past 6 months without really loving any of them.
Here's the story so far (some emails are condensed to stay relevant and on topic).

I create an account and purchase the phone. $349.99 USD + $27.99 USD Express Shipping = $377.98 USD = $415 CAD after conversion (I'm in Canada).

I get this email from OnePlus, as I'm sure many others did:
Thank you for your recent order of the OnePlus One. You're probably aware that your package has not yet shipped. We wanted to let you know that though your order has been processed, your device will likely ship on the 9th of July.
We apologize for the delay in your shipment as we work to optimize our logistics processes and will continue to refine our operations to ensure a seamless process in the future. As a show of gratitude for your patience, we'll be adding two invites to the three you're already receiving so you can share them with your friends and family. Shipment picked up from Los Angeles, California. Alright, some movement!
July 4, 6:57PM
DHL is at my door, fantastic! Definitely the fastest shipping I've had to date - crazy... Wait, what's this?! A $32 CAD customs charge at the door? Wow. The phone that was once $349 USD is now worth $447 CAD (roughly $420 USD). Oh well, it's in my hands! Awesome!
July 4, 7:05PM
After taking the phone out of the box, I notice it requires a micro SIM, I've been using a nano SIM for a while in my Moto X so I head to my local carrier and grab a new SIM for $5 (grand total $452 CAD). Power on phone, get an OTA update immediately. Reboot, and then once I open the browser (primarily white screen) I notice the infamous "yellow band" along the bottom. Whatever, not a big deal.
July 4, 7:30PM
After playing with the phone for a while I notice that the rear-facing camera (you know, the primary one) isn't recognized by the phone at all. No apps at all have the "switch camera" button and a hardware information app doesn't even know it exists. I open a support ticket.
July 5 - July 6
Blah blah in the support ticket - I did basic troubleshooting to prove the issue (factory reset, check for updates), and then I ask the following 3 questions:
1) Are replacement units in stock and when could I expect to receive one?
2) I was charged $30 in customs fees when receiving the phone, is that going to happen again with the replacement? Am I on the hook for any shopping costs as well?
3) Would the replacement unit be refurbished, brand new, or are you simply planning on repairing mine and shipping it back to me?

I get the following response:
1. Yes, we do have stock reserved for replacements.
2. There are no shipping costs for replacements, but I do have to check about the issue of Canadian customs fees – please let me get back to you on that.
3. Your replacement unit will be brand new!

Receive email asking me to now open an RMA ticket instead of a support ticket... Alright, kinda figured they'd just do that for me, but sure. I can do that. Also provide them with the IMEI at their request which, for some reason, they don't have on file.
July 8, 12:16AM
Follow up on my last unanswered email, asking again about whether or not I'm going to be charged for customs.
July 8, 3:28AM
Fast response! "Approved. Let's ship from HK and pay for customs ourselves." was all I got. Sounds good, let's do this!

I really didn't expect them to be able to make it on such short notice, but it's worth a shot. I've never really shipped anything this way before, so I'm not sure what's realistic and the instructions weren't exactly detailed.

No one came, not at 8AM and not at 5PM. Hrm. Ok, update the ticket with the following:

Couldn't you have disclosed that information a little sooner? Also, expecting consumers to sit around after 5PM from Monday-Friday is a bit ridiculous... I don't have my own shipping/receiving department at home, so I can't exactly guarantee I'll be there every day after 5PM indefinitely.
July 8, 8:19PM
My response:
What courier is it? Can I drop it off somewhere instead? If not, between 5-7PM MST Mon-Fri.
On another note, will the version of OnePlus One from China be any different from the one I received from North America?
Please provide an estimated ETA for the courier to come and pick up the faulty unit. Please also provide an estimated ETA for when I can expect my replacement unit to ship from China and when it should arrive at my house. The intent was to save me time, but I don't think it's working. I've since requested that they cancel all of the Hong Kong/China RMA, and just RMA it normally through the USA. At least then I'll get a phone that works, even if I have to fight over the customs to get it here.
July 15, 4:00PM
Alright, so I spent most of last week arguing and dealing with OnePlus over shipping details and such for the replacement. To sum it up, I was told that it would be the international version, that it would ship from China to avoid customs fees, and that I wouldn't be paying a dime.
Fast forward to July 14 - the phone ships! Tracking information! Hoorah!
Wait, DHL?!?! From California??
Thanks for listening OnePlus. I called DHL today once it cleared customs and was told that the fees I would be responsible for at the door would be $34.71. Again. DHL mentioned that OnePlus did not mark ANYWHERE on the package that it was a warranty replacement, and that if they had the fees would have only been $10 for processing. So screw you OnePlus, and screw you DHL for trying to charge me processing for nothing.
I argued with them about it for quite some time, but it sounds like I'm pretty much screwed.
July 16, 9:50PM
Alright, so finally some good news!
To my extreme surprise, I received a call from Andy at OnePlus this morning. I had actually requested a phone call during the initial RMA request, so after several weeks without a call I definitely wasn't expecting one now. This is the only response I have had since informing OnePlus that there were customs charges on the second shipment a few days ago, so I was impressed to see that they were concerned enough to actually call about it. That, and I left some pretty heated words in the support ticket that may have forced the call. I'm not sure, but either way I was definitely happy to receive the call.
Anyhow, Andy assured me that if I did indeed get charged a second set of customs charges that OnePlus would have no problem reimbursing them for me. He sent a follow up email so that I knew where to send the invoice/receipt to, and so that's where things are sitting now.
On a side note, I managed to negotiate the charges down with DHL from $35 to $15, but not without providing them every single piece of proof I had (export paperwork with TNT, commercial invoice, copies of RMA info from 1+ website, etc.) that I had shipped the other unit back to them. Even still, I am hoping that they hold up their offer and reimburse the remaining amount.
Summary
The $350 "Flagship Killer" phone turned into a $450 "D.O.A." phone really fast.
OnePlus has had my money for nearly 2 weeks.
I have a OnePlus One with a faulty camera in a box that I can't use.
I have no idea when a courier is going to come pick it up.
I'm really hoping I'm lucky enough to be at home when they show up.
My new phone won't even ship from OnePlus until they receive the faulty one....
In China.
And then it has to ship back to Canada...
From China.
Joke's on me! It's DHL again...
And another $35 in customs fees, yay!
Updated Below:
Managed to negotiate DHL brokerage fees down from $35 to $15
Andy from OnePlus called me directly, offering to reimburse the second set of customs charges if applicable
Submitted invoice/receipt to 1+, just waiting now.
I'm aware that there is a chance the camera issue could be related to a bad flash or something software-related, but I'm not bothering with any of that in the off chance that it's actually a hardware issue. Better safe than sorry.
Presumably you already paid upon importing the phone so tax/duty doesn't apply for warranty repaired items. As long as the shipping label clearly states "warranty repair" you shouldn't get a problem.
FWIW I had a weird update too but fastboot oem unlock and reset cleared it up.

I completely agree, there's no way I should be hit with customs charges a second time on something I've already purchased by they couldn't promise it.
DHL is the only company that has consistently hit me with customs charges.
^ Good luck! Please keep us up to date with how the whole situation develops.

July 9, 2:30AM
I receive an email from them clarifying the difference between Chinese and global versions:
China version and global version could support different bands.
The OnePlus One global supports these bands:
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/4/7/17/38/40
The Chinese version OnePlus One supports below bands:
GSM:850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
TD-SCDMA:1800-1920 / 2010-2025
WCDMA*:2100 / 1900 / 850 / 900
TD-LTE:2570-2620 / 1880-1920 / 2300-2400
FDD-LTE*:2100 / 1800 / 2600

I think there is just some confusion regarding the "Chinese" phone. I doubt they were every planning on shipping you a Chinese version of the phone. Both versions are produced in China, so just because your phone was going to be shipped directly from China, it doesn't mean it wasn't going to be the international version. By shipping directly from Hong Kong, they could pay for the custom fee in one shot. If they sent it from the North America distribution center, it adds another layer of complexity that they didn't want to deal with. Their comments didn't say anything about shipping you a Chinese version - I think you read too much into their comments.

I would have thought that too, but they didn't refute it at all.
Instead of saying they were shipping me the same model, they told me the models were different and she couldn't guarantee it would work properly here.
Damn Really sorry to hear that!
Friends ordered 2 from china, the LTE bands don't matter since we live in Europe i hope for them that they don't get a faulty one.
So the hardware from the international one and the Chinese one are really different? I thought it was just software, kernel related or whatever. So there is no way to mod the modem to work exactly like the international one.
I hope for you that this gets resolved!
Heads-up to OP: I read a couple other ppl have reported camera not detected on an earlier build of CM-11s, upgrade fixed it. Have you tried factory wipe & install CM11 M8?

Well I think she misunderstood your question too. I think she was simply stating how the two versions were different. I wouldn't take her response as a confirmation that they were sending out a Chinese version.
You have to remember that English may not be the native language of the people you are getting support from......
All in all, I think there has just been a misunderstanding in the communication. I really doubt they were sending you a Chinese version to replace an International version unless you specifically asked for it.

Thanks, and I believe the hardware is more or less the same but in order to use North American bands you need to flash a radio and I'm a bit nervous to do anything like that with this phone in case it's an actual hardware problem. I'm worried that OnePlus may try to refuse warranty support because of it.

I'm not mad at her, I'm not sure why you're so adamantly defending her. It's not her fault at all, she just works there.
"All in all," I think you're voicing your opinion much like I've voiced mine, and I'm not sure why we're still arguing about it... You're allowed to interpret that conversation however you like, just like I did.
In my opinion, when I ask if the model I'll be receiving from China is different from the one I purchased in North America and they come back to me with "China version and global version could support different bands" that tells me that they are likely sending me a different model that "could support different bands."
If it makes you happy, technically speaking neither of us are right since it hasn't happened yet.
Yeesh.

Excellent, yes I had just confirmed that with the customer service rep this morning.
For future reference, TNT shipping is possibly the worst courier for returns from a consumer.
They only pick up from 8AM-5PM Mon-Fri (which is when I and most people work), you cannot drop it off anywhere for them, I need to provide (create) a commercial invoice with my signature, provide customs information (ie: export license, some sort of harmonized code?), all of which I don't have since I'm just a consumer, and provide them with 4 copies of all of this, signed and dated.
Here begins the hour of paperwork and printing required to return my defective product. There has got to be an easier way.
Oh right, and a lithium battery form too....

Oh dude, I know. I've been wondering for so long why there isn't a startup delivery service that ONLY hires people willing to work when the rest of us are at home. Oh well. We're not happy either about how this is turning out, so keep us updated (via your customer support contact) and we'll evaluate the procedure. In non-business speak - we're looking for a better provider, but I'm aware that doesn't help you at this point.
Wow I am really sorry to read that, I like must of us had to wait a week or 2 to actually get the phone (express shipping dont do any difference) but thank God my phone is flawless (knock on wood), I hope that was an isolated issue.
Good luck.

What can EU/UK users do to get the same level of service as USA?

This Bootloader Unlock announcement just for USA users has annoyed me to the maximum now.
Why are the USA users getting a premium service compared to EU/UK users when we are paying £360/€450 for the phone?
All problems:
> No Stock ROM/Theme
> USA have up to date ROM (B02 Released for Europe)
> Buggy OS on EU version (B02 Released for Europe)
> Passport 2.0 for US (Confirmed 3 year warranty)
> Screen Protector for US
> Regular Software Updates for US (B02 Released for Europe)
> Great support forums for USA
> BOOTLOADER UNLOCK only for USA
There are a few more to add to the list im sure, but i cannot remember them at time of posting.
Anyone have suggestions to what us EU/UK users can do to get the same level of service/support as the USA
I am hearing minimal from ZTE about anything and have to result to the USA forums but they are not much help there.

Don't expect anything at the moment from ZTE in Europe.
Don't get me wrong, i like the device (preordered, will see how it goes) and i'm happy to see ZTE working with the customers in North America (to a certain extent) but ZTE just isn't implemented in Europe. They sell a dozen of differents devices and that's it.
To change things, i would say contact ZTE via official forms but they aren't responding...

Dont get me wrong either, i love the device but the support is just terrible.
The bootloader unlock isnt a big deal to me now, im sure someone later on will release an easy way to unlock and install custom roms.
The main issue is that ZTE are giving USA users such a premium service and a better OS which is way less buggy.
They promise Nougat when it comes out but will us in EU ever see that, we havent even got one OS update yet.
Don't buy it - this is the only way to say "change something".
I really like the Axon 7, it's almost perfect, just few more mAh but I will not pay more than the US (450€ = +500$ / OnePlus is 399€ and US 399$) and get less (no case, no screen protector, no updates, no support, no passport...)
Maybe I will order one by Amazon, open it and send it back. Really start hate ZTE.

To be fair, you don't pay more for the Axon 7 than the US (well, 13$ more but that's negligeable). You have take taxes into account, inluded in Europe, excluded in the US.
Not buying isn't gonna change things since they obviously don't really care for the European market at the moment. But i have to admit it's just too much hastle to go and rant about Europe to ZTE on every communication channel they have...

Not buying is the only way. It's all about the €$¥! Check the last thing with bootloader. Canncel pre-orders and few days later "ok, bootloader unlock next week". Samsung remove sd card slot and after so much hate it's back. They only care about money, like any other company.
U pay 399$, what is about 350€. Look how simple this is: 3,5€ are 1%, 10% are 35€, 20% are 70€... so you need to pay about 30% taxes to get the EU price. We even don't got a forum. The ZTE Axon 7 is not on the homepage of ZTE

ZTE Europe reps are just idiots... Just look at the release date announced at ZTE UK twitter (announced end 2016 while it was 27 july). I wouldn't take their word for it.
I agree, it sure is all about the money. But since they didn't invest any king of "big" money for the european market, they won't ccare about relatively bad sales, that's the irony of it...
On the other end, for the prices, you are not entirely wrong but it's more like 25.7% taxes to get to the same price point. Since average VAT is 21.5%, we aren't too far from those 25.7% (give or take 15€ more for the European price).
I really don't care about the price, when the service is good but this is just unfair. They pi** on EU and take more for less service. This is what makes pain to order Axon 7.
After flop release maybe no updates and with looked bootloader you just get f...d by ZTE. The last flagship they sell for 211€ after few months.

Everything you say is true. How can they release the phone for US and UK markets at the same time, yet give US users a more premium quality operating system than EU!!! like wtf haha Shouldnt it be the same rolled out for all and wouldnt it make it easier for them too
Does the US version not work in the UK ?
US users get shafted plenty. Most of our devices are riddled with carrier bloat that cripples resources. We also almost never get headphones that are included in other models.
Often we have to resort to International models which don't always have all the required bands.
Using the Axon 7 reminds me of a Samsung phone from three or four years ago. I don't mean the UI—MiFavor 4.0 doesn't look bad. It's just overloaded with buggy features that probably don't need to exist. It feels cluttered. At the same time, features that I do want like lock screen notifications and Do Not Disturb mode are made less accessible.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/08/10/zte-axon-7-review/
So, this is the reason why we need open bootloader. The Axon 7 is a beast but no updates, bugs and bloatware.

Dead Pixel; **** Support for Canada and Rant

As many of you, I jumped on the Newegg.ca Pre-order which gave me the Axon 7, 64GB Quartz Gray with "North American Warranty" as well as the famous "Passport 2.0"
Here's the deal...
They don't ship to Canada. Basically making that process worthless. I got a dead pixel after a month and a half. Discoloured on the right side of the screen. So Naturally I thought, no problem, let's get an RMA. This is what happened:
Started a Chat with ZTE USA > Not a problem he says. Does some troubleshooting. Says to call a number to get the RMA completed.
I call the number, ZTE USA > Not a problem he says. Processes everything. Asks for my address; "Oh sorry, we don't ship to Canada. Please contact the Canadian ZTE."
I call the Canadian Number and redirects me to ZTE USA again > I explain my situation, he understands. Tells me he still can't ship it to a Canadian Address. I escalate to a Manager.
Manager speaks for 2 minutes then disconnects the call.
Call once more. Average hold time is about 10 to 15 minutes btw. Get transferred back to the Manager.
Says he doesn't know why it says "North American Warranty" as it's only for the US. BUT THE ****ING CANADIAN WEBSITE SAYS PASSPORT SUPPORT TOO!!!
He gives me a link to some ZTE Authorized Center for Canada. They charge me $650 CAD and are shipping out a replacement. I'll get it soon. Then once I return my device, I'll be refunded the $650.
This is by far the ****tiest support I've gotten on a device that boasts having an amazing warranty. I might sell it once I have the replacement. **** this noise, I've never had an issue with OnePlus. Should've stuck with them. OPO was excellent. The OnePlus Two was good and the Three would be too.
****.

Ok bye,
There are way to many whiners on the A7 board, everything from phone sucks because.... to I want CM now but don't want to contribute to its development. There was not nearly this level of whiners and reactionaries over on the GS3 board.... Ok done venting....
Hey you choose to make it hard for yourself, sorry you live in Canada and want to use US retailers, you should have bought the phone through a Canadian distributor if you didn't want a headache. You first clue should have been when new egg said no to shipping.

Can you please share your experience with other manufactures? How did OnePlus take care of your issue? Seems to me you got what you wanted from ZTE, you're getting your phone replace. What's the problem?
Looks like they went out of their way to honor a Canadian warranty when the phone was purchased at a US retailer.

B.S. newegg.ca is a Canadian distributor, charging local currency and tax and even have a local warehouse. It's not B&H or Jet.com.

Yea, that's BS. Newegg.ca is a Canadian distributor. Lets use a little brain power before replying to posts.

Newegg.ca is not a US retailer...
Bye, we don't care. At this price point deal with the service or go buy a Pixel or Iphone. They have problems too but you may get them resolved sooner.
I live in Oz (Australia), this phone isn't even available here... Had to get it from o'seas.
Will be interesting if I ever have a problem, which thankfully I haven't...
Comments are unfairly passing blame on the OP. Let's put ourselves in his shoes: if your Axon had a warranty issue and the support number doesn't help you until you're escalated/transferred three times, with agents contradicting advertised warranty guarantees, you'd be upset.
Newegg.ca charges in Canadian dollars, charges Canadian tax, and advertised the Passport 2.0 program on the product page with all the details. There's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't get the same warranty service when the same Passport 2.0 program is advertised on the Canadian retailer.
To those saying "we don't care", we don't care that you don't care. It's important for Canadians to know this is what they'll be facing if they try to use ZTE's warranty, it was very useful that the OP posted this.
Even though it's terrible to charge as insurance for the advanced replacment, and it's deplorably poor service compared to what they're advertising, at least it's some warranty. That's more than Samsung Canada can say. My brand new Galaxy Nexus barely used for a few days got dead/stuck pixels and after 3 months of back and forth with Samsung Canada their "managers" told me that essentially they have no policy on dead pixels for phone screens, only TVs, so I can go **** myself they won't exchange it. This is after they had me send in the phone twice, and both times it was returned with the firmware downgraded to the oldest version possible.

Are you serious right now fam? I have the full right to express my frustration as I purchased this from Newegg.ca (That's the Canadian Website if you can't tell). On the item page it states it's a North American Warranty. It states I have a Passport 2.0 Support. On the Official ZTE Page in Canada, it states I have those support options such as "Advanced RMA" yet they can't ship to Canada? They want me to drive to the border to pick out the replacement? Even though they are confirming in several places that the support is readily available.
Don't be sorry about me living in Canada. Be sorry about ZTE blatantly LYING to us stating they offer something they don't.
Just out of curiosity, what is passport 2.0? Is Newegg selling from US to Canada and that is where the confusion is? Maybe you can just return the phone and move on. If I couldn't get the support promised, I probably would too. It's tough because these midranges now have killer specs but crap customer service.
I just returned the Honor 8 because of loose and card holder. CS kept telling me I needed to hard reset the phone despite having done that and trying different cards. I just couldn't live with 32gb of storage and no SD card. It sucks because I like the size of the Honor 8.
To those speaking ignorantly, please note that Newegg, in Canada, is Axon 7's official retailer, and ZTE says so themselves. OP got all this trouble because of misleading advertising, not by his supposed carelessness.
Bull*** buddy.
ZTE has full passport warranty in Canada. I just got a phone of newegg.ca the bootloader on it went wonky on a OTA update.
I went to ZTE support, opened a chat and 10mis later I had all the info to get a free new phone shipped to me from Canada.
ZTE's warranty is done by dfComputers in toronto and they are quite helpful.
http://zte.dfcomputer.ca/create_service.php?warranty=in
They currently don't have stock of the phones but they will replace a broken phone for free with a new one or you can send your phone it to be repaired instead.
I didn't need to struggle for hours to get the info about the warranty, it was given to me right away.
compare ZTE's support to Oneplus for example and ZTE is 10x better.
I've had pretty good support from ZTE sofar, othe than a stock issue they've been very helpful.
