Fire 8 Updated to 5.4.0.0 - Fire General

Unfortunately, when I turned on my Fire tablet this evening, I left it sitting on the counter unattended and when I came back it had auto updated to Fire OS 5.4.0.0. I hope this doesn't make the chances of root even less for my tab. Did anyone else get this update? Tablet is the Fire HD 8 6th Gen.

Fire HD8 6th Generation 5.3.2 Update

Despite my attempts to block the OTA update, my fire now has 5.3.2. It definitely lags compared to the previous firmware version. Does anyone known if it can be downgraded via ABD without bricking?

I have read and was able to downgrade my 2015 Fire HD 7 from 5.3.2.0 to 5.3.1.0. Then I was able to install a CM Rom.
I also have the new HD 8 2016, but I am not sure if the downgrade will work.
Just bought a the HD 8 2016 since it is on sale (today) for $59 at Best Buy and THOUGHT I read it can be rooted, later learned it's only the older model that can be rooted. Really don't want an Android device that will remain unable to be rooted, so, might have to take it back even at that cheap price?
Would love to have a custom ROM on this tablet!

I bought it knowing that it can't be rooted at the moment. But I'm going to block updates with openDNS and cross my fingers for a future root method. Still a pretty good tablet for the money and the Play Store works too. However, I still love my cheap, year-old Fire 7" with CM 12.1 the most despite the screen resolution.
What steps are required to block updates with openDNS? Would like to try it on Fire 8, 6th gen.

I used this method for my Fire TVs, and it appears to work on the Fire tabs too.

Thanks. Looks like this could work on devices that don't leave home network.
Hopefully this Fire HD 8 tablet 6th generation - 2016 can be rooted in near future. Better to block the OTA updates. By the way, can someone pin-point the codename for this device ? That is similar to KFFOWI_Ford for 7'' Fire-2015.

As I was trying KingRoot today it said the code for this one is "KFGIWI"
And I also saw another thread that stated KFGIWI_GI

Fire HD 8 Tablet (6th Generation) To Android

I am looking for the complete guide / or steps to make my new Fire tablet as close to possible to my Galaxy Tablet which was destroyed in a fire.
I am quite savy when it comes to this sort of stuff so I don't think I should have a problem following some good advice.
I see more on the 5th Generation but I didn't want to go by anything there since this one is the latest model (Fire HD 8 6th Generation).
I have found bits and pieces but not enough to be able to follow through ... Any leads would be greatly appreciated !! Thank you !

You clearly need to root your tablet to do that, but we have to wait until someone finds a way to do it for the 6th generation

help please!!!!! kindle fire 10" 2012 model red screen

I am not extremely savvy about all this but I know enough to break things. I was messing around with my Kindle (not sure what gen, but its old) and I put it into fastboot using adb. When it rebooted it went directly to red screen. I have tried all the utilities I can find and even flashed a few things but still goes into red screen. Everything I read about talks about android but my fire is old school amazon. What can I do?? Please help

need help with Fire 8 HD 10th gen tablet

Hello there. So I recently purchased an Amazon Fire 8 HD 10th generation tablet and updated it to the latest firmware. It is linked to my Amazon account and I currently have Prime. Soon after using the tablet for my first time, I realized that it was not really an Android device but closer to a leapfrog. I am wondering whether I should return this tablet and get something else if that would be the easiest thing to do, otherwise, is there a way to convert this into an Android device since, essentially, all mobile phones and laptops and tablets are computers at the end of the day. Is there anything I can do or am I better off buying a regular android tablet online?

Amazon update appears to have slipped through the net!

Amazon update seems to have made it through the Fire Toolbox. Any any ideas? I'm running a Fire HD 8 10th gen. 7.3.2.7 it won't let the Google Play app work
