Do the 6gb and 8gb have different memory management values in Oxygen OS? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

Otherwise what's the point?
I hope it's at least improved over the OP3/T in Oxygen OS.

It may, depends on your usage. But the other point is the extra storage (128GB). So you are getting a little more for your money.

In my case the 8gb one is just spend more money, 64gb is enough for me

SD cards... what the maximum?

So i was just wondering whats the highest storage the xda will take? i was thinking of buying a 4gb SD card you know if this would work on the exec/universal?
I saw somewhere last weekend that Sandisk is comming out with 8GB MiniSD cards.

The 4GB card works just fine on my Universal. I love it, never have to swap it out for a different one.
The only issue I've heard about (but isn't an issue for me) is that the camera won't let you save pictures to the card unless you have at least 2GB filled up. It's an issue with the way the camera application was written.

Does that ROM include the goofy battery indicator and jumping clock? I've avoided upgrading the ROM because 1) I don't really have any problems with the way it's running now, 2) I like the clock to stay where it is and 3) I don't need a battery indicator since I have Batti. Sort of a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
It's good to know they fixed it at least the camera thing though, thanks!
huh?
Dude the new rom is much quicker than old ones.

is the new ROM really quicker or is it the fact that installing 'any' ROM again and giving your decide a nice hard reset and wiping all other programs would speed up or make it appear as things are running faster?

I think it MAY be more that, but hey, the new rom has brilliant A2DP, AVRCP, and Push Email!
My Universal is plenty fast enough as is. None of the new ROM's bells and whistles are really that important to me, so I'm just going to keep it as is.
I think we've gotten a little off track and hijacked the "SD maximum" thread!

This was an April Fool's joke....
Sandisk, as good as their cards may be, are usually one of the last to release big cards.
I've not heard rumours of 4gb miniSDs let alone the 8gb.

64MB Extra Memory on Nexus One

Hi, All
Don't you think it would be sweet, if there was Radio released like the HD2 Update that unlocked 64MB Extra memory for the Nexus One.
The comparison with the Desire would be finished.
JAW$
It would be nice, but it's already so fast I don't think it would make a difference for the majority of Nexus One users.

Dont understand why you need it. Just looked at my phone with 19 processes running and 200 Mb avail. At any given time I never have less than 100Mb free mem. Does the Sense UI use more memory? Is that why you think we need more?

Sense UI doesn't use much more I usually have 100MB to 200MB free with Sense UI. Also my phone feels much smoother with Sense UI rather than stock. On top of all that, we don't even have all our 512MB unlocked. I think its like 395MB.

HD2, 1GB of RAM?? HuH!?!?

This whole time I have been researching the HD2, I have always heard it having about 500+mb ram...now when I went and checked on the Tmobile site it says 1gb of ram...here (I was comparing it to the touch pro 2)...

I hope this is true ? but Idk why I dont really believe it yet??...any ideas?
the american version of the hd2 will have more RAM and ROM
These screenshots say 512MB ROM, 1GB RAM... but from what we know it's the opposite (1GB ROM and 512MB RAM), the guy who made the website description most likely screwed up. Not to mention 1GB RAM would be absolutely useless.

But people always say bigger is better
Big phone
Big delay
Big bug
Big error
Is it better? No it isn't!!
yeah even on the htc website it says it will have 1gb of ROM and 5_ _ mb of RAM.... hey I know you say 1gb of ram would be useless, but for the same price -why would you argue with that ? haha....but yeah can we say 'false advertisement' here?.... I am sure there is a complaint to be made, for those of us who already knew it was fake from the beginning it would not be a surprise when we get our hd2 and do not see 1gb of ram...but for the others, they may be like 'wth??!' ....

Current ( European ) HD2 :
-512 RAM
-512 ROM
T-mobile ( USA ) HD2 :
-512 RAM
-1024 ROM
Isn't it 574 ram on both versions?
yeah they do but most shipped roms disable the last few sectors of ram for stability reasons i believe, you need a cooked rom to enable the full amount
Yep, but why do they loose stability with more ram?
Loose stability??? I see no difference between cooked rom (576MB RAM) and official 1.66 WWE (448MB RAM).
it probably looses stability in a case of when an application over ranges ram so if there is a block of ram reserved then it may be used for those instances ? I am not sure just trying to think why it would be that way....
Just open lots of apps to fill RAM and again ad again. Nothing happends. Where did U read about instability with 576MB unlocked?
that is not what I was talking about, (opening a bunch of apps)... that does not mean it will over range the ram...
you may be familiar with programming and in such if you say go out of bounds on an array -it will cause some sorts of errors.... This is the type of situation I mean when I said over ranging ram, except it may come in a different form, but when a program basically tries to access more ram than it is allowed or tries to access ram which is non existent then it would normally cause an error....
all in all it is just an example, and I was just trying to think logically of why they would not allow all of the RAM to be unlocked in stock ROMS ...

I concur, I am actually using one right now and in hardware specs it shows the 576mb RAM, 1024mb ROM, and of course the sick 1024mhz processor
as a result of the U.S. version having more ram and rom, its a little bigger..

64GB Micro SD-Cards out!

I'm sure it'll be expensive as hell when it first arrives, but KingMax is releasing a 64GB Micro SD-Card.
There shouldn't be any compatibility issues, since I'd be formatting that as ext4 for use in my Xoom anyway.
Thought the max for compatibility was 32GB.

Pretty sure that's just a filesystem issue with FAT; since I'll be formatting as ext4 that won't be an issue unless the kernel itself can't issue the block commands, and that's something that's readily fixed.

WOW. Thus, I will have 96 GB tablet. Whoohoo.
Oh, I've been waiting for this!
Once it's tested, I'll get the Sandisk one.
Out of curiousity, what will you use the 96gb for?

Hmmm... I am not sure the stability of handling 64GB since it was stated to support up to 32 GB.
I have a dell streak 7 which say supporting it up to 32GB, but my system got unstable whenver I got my SDCard in for a while. (only for a while, not immediately it will be unstable).
It restarts randomly and dead on sleep when I have the SDCard on. I tried to go back to stock on roms and it still happened until I gave up and took out the sdcard.
Based on this experience, I would rather think Android system's capability of handling large external SDCard is not perfect/stable. I may just hold a cautious but certainly happy view on this news =)

... and as a kernel dev, I think you just had a crap SD-Card
The device should handle any card regardless of size really, even without ext4 (the volume limit of FAT is something like 2Tb).
I read somewhere that Android didn't support ext4 on SD card without a custom kernel, is this correct? Seems odd considering the kernel must have ext4 support to read/write to the internal filesystems.
32 GB is usually mentioned by any device because that's the largest size that was actually tested with. Once they validate that 64 GB cards work (which they probably will), they will probably update the official specs.
Just a validation thing.

Yeah, there's probably a misunderstanding somewhere in what was written or read. For all intents and purposes, our internal storage (which has two filesystems on ext) is not much more electrically than a soldered-in SD-Card.

Nice quotes. I'm just curious, no need to flame. (96gb wouldn't do much for me; too much for basic stuff, but too little to hold everything. It would be a storage shuffling nightmare for me. I'm curious how people use their tablets).
