This is not new. SafetyNet passes despite the recent issue because you aren't using any module.
Also I don't think this is the right section. ?

Do I still need the systemless root? I was told in a different thread that if I do the latest SuperSU it was already Systemless.
Also does this require that Magisk thing?

I don't think i understand what you mean, you can use any root. But for "normal" root you need to patch the kernel.

My personal experience is some modules don't work well with Emui and even lag and/or increase battery consumption of the phone. Hiding root or greenify, for example, are a hit or miss.

[Universal][SuperSu][Magisk] UnRoot & ReRoot

Welcome Guys!!!
Whats this thread?
We all know that magisk is a great tool for android. Also, chainfire's supersu is great too. Now, when using Nightly ROMs, we have to flash unroot zip and then the root zip everytime we update our rom.(Not necessary but those who like magisk/supersu have to). Now, I created a zip which will automatically unroot your ROM and flash the magisk/supersu root.
Procedure
Simply flash this zip like any other zip and reboot!
Download
For Nitrogen OS (Normal to Magisk):-Download From Here
For Nitrogen OS (Normal to SuperSu):- Download From Here (Needs Testing)
For Any LineageOS Rooted ROMs (Normal to SuperSu):-Download From Here (Needs Testing)
For Any LineageOS Rooted ROMs (Normal to Magisk):- Download From Here (Needs Testing)
Please post your requests for other unroot and root zips here, if possible, I will make it for sure!!!
Credits
@xyyx For his awesome rom and unroot zip
@topjohnwu For his magisk root
@abhishek987 For providing the updater script code in his RR build. Thanks a lot buddy.
Guys, please hit thanks if I helped, it'll help me a lot

1. Open Magisk Manager and activate option 'Magisk Hide'. If it's option already 'On', try 'Off' at first, then again 'On'.
2. If U using SuperSU as superuser app... Use suhide to hide SuperSU visibility for system.

Magisk v15.0, anyone using it on their PH-1?

I seen that Magisk was updated to version 15.0 so I was wondering if anyone had problems with it and how you updated from the previous version. Thank you.
I was getting reboots on v14.3 and v14.6 on Oreo Beta 2 but I have not gotten a single reboot since flashing v15.0 earlier today (been running for maybe 8 hours now.)

Just updated.
No issues yet. Safety net is okay.
I'm also using it with no problems. I rooted the phone using the intructions from Magisk to root the pixel phones and it worked great, no need to use twrp.
So far so good on 15.0
No reboots o Android auto for my 2 driving sessions. If I was on 14.3, would have happened already
My phone bootloop if i update from 14.5 (beta) to 15. Fortunately i had a backup and i restored boot partition through twrp...
No issues. Went straight from Stock, to Beta 1, updated via OTA to Beta 2. Then followed the instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/essential-phone/how-to/guide-rooting-essential-ph-1-magisk-t3701976

For me it's working, I use the magisk on meticulous twrp and the safe bet fix, then update by the magisk manager.
What kind of safetynet fix you installed?
I can't get safetynet pass..
I tried to install safetynet fix beta 5 for v14 on v14 then updated to v15.3; then i tried beta 5 (the other version) both on v15 and 14. ?

You can take the update so long as you've extracted the boot.img from payload within the firmware and patched it with magisk.
Then after the update just run what's in the image below.
You'll need payload dumper for Windows to extract boot.img from payload.
If you don't want to extract the boot.img yourself you can wait for someone else but it'll need to be the same version and region.

You can just flash update via local upgrade, don't reboot, then go to magisk (have to be canary) and flash it to inactive slot, then reboot. You should be rooted. I'm doing this every update and this method is 100% ok!

Thanks good to know. I wasn't going to upgrade from OB2 because I thought it was going to wipe the data. Where you on OB2?
For anyone who wasn't on the OB updating is simple just did it. First switch to beta channel in magisk and update to magisk v21. Then do the local upgrade. Then install to inactive slot and you're good.
Also dual sim works! [emoji41]
