USB OTG - - Huawei P10 Plus Questions & Answers

Can someone tell me ..... does this phone support USB OTG ??

Used to owned P9 Plus. OTG works well . Using P10 Plus now. No problem with OTG. Check your OTG connector whether it is too short.

Yes it works even if you use a micro usb to usb c converter.

I briefly tested plugging my 64gb flash drive in via my USB OTG cable; it showed up as storage but wasn't readable (was formatted in NTFS, i had data i didn't want to loose on it so i didn't try to format it). So my guess it USB OTG is enabled and working properly, however i have not 100% confirmed that.
Seems like otg is enabled.
Anyone able to check mhl?

Can Note 2 mount portable HDD via micro-usb OTG cable?

Hi, guys. I have got my note 2 rooted. I would like to know if note 2 is able to read data from portable HDD(NTFS) via micro usb cable. I want to watch movies which store in my portable HDD. Thanks

I was able to read files from an external hdd with his own power supply, so I believe u will not face any problem. As for ntfs you have to use a third party app to mount it, though I don't know if there is any custom kernel that supports ntfs mount, the stock one does not support it.

Devil or AGNI kernel and download Paragon NTFS or USB OTG Helper from PlayStore.

I was not that lucky, had a Hitachi portable HDD tested, the HDD emitted an abnormal mechanical noise due to insufficient power supply. However, USB flash disk worked in that way perfectly.
Yes, the power provided by the phone is not enough. I used a little trick, I don't know if you can do it too: My 2.5" portable HDD had a Y USB cable. One plug is for power and data, the other one just for more power, if needed. I connected the power+data cable to my USB OTG cable, the other end to a 5V USB power supply. I don't know if it's good for the phone, but it worked like a charm and the phone didn't get warm or so.
But as far as I know, not every external HD has a Y shaped cable.

Powered USB hub

What's a good recommendation for a powered USB hub for my car? I got an easy cap USB stick for my back up camera for my Nexus 7 car install, but it doesn't get enough power from the OTG cable

I haven't installed it in my car yet.
But my bench USB-OTG testing has worked quite well so far.

USB C Adaptors for OTG

Can anyone tell me if there are any USB C to micro USB adaptors that work for OTG. I've tried a few brands and they will work for charging, but not OTG.

This is interesting as I ordered an USB C to HDMI adapter a few days ago for my 6T. It should arrive on Friday so I'll let you know if mine works or not.
6t has USB-c but only usb 2.0 with no MHL suppport. you need usb 3.0 or 3.1 for displayport support.
yes this is why oneplus is flagship killer. because they put cost savings where no one does.
