Contacts has stopped on J5 2016 - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

Everytime I open my dialer app, it keeps closing. Then I tried some methods like clearing up the data but still it stopped. I also noticed when I clear the data and open the app, when I press the favourites and contacts section on the dialer app it trigger to stop. Does anyone have a fix on this?

Reflash the Sec_Contacts app in priv-app (i think) and wipe cache and dalvik

Is this safe?

If you are not rooted, just do fact9ry reset

My phone is rooted then I tried but nothing happen. Still the same..

Just reflash the stock rom,simple

I found the solution. It's all about the Xposed Installer. There's a bug on Flat Style Color Bars, maybe it needs update on their module..

"android is upgrading" on every boot.

Hey Guys, anyoen have any clues on this?
All I did was swap out my boot animations.
On every boot the "Android is upgrading - Starting apps" popup
Boot time has not changed as my startup manager shows a consistant 34-40sec boot,
I even extracted the original image and reinstalled all the original boot anims.
Uninstalled xposed framework, Wanam,
uninstall titanium,
cleared cache via recovery..
Any ideas? Its annoying.
Thanks!

You're getting that message because its rebuilding your cache on boot.. when you clear it in recovery, that's normal behavior.
Getting it every single boot, now, that sounds like there is a problem.. I would check for something clearing the cache besides you doing it manually (unless you are doing this every time you get that message on boot), worst case scenario flashing the stock odin file in General should clear it up
Did you fix permissions and ownership on the new boot ani? Use Jrummys root browser and check both of those.

Finally figured it out!
What a pita. Reflashed via Odin and started
Installing all my stuff.
The app that caused this out of all the system app mods I have running was the transparent accuweather widget nodded apk. I forgot to Delete the corresponding odex when i installed it. DUH!! all Self inflicted.
All good to go now.
Thanks guys.

Thank you very much. I was having the same problem ever since I installed LG G2 keyboard on my G Pro F240L running G2V5. It was just a 3 second message at start but still bugged me.
I deleted the odex files now for the keyboard and its theme files. Rebooted about 5 times to check. Keyboard still works, startup upgrade message is gone. Didn't have to reflash ROM or clear any cache. Great solution.

Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped

After flashing the 4.4.2 firmware to my Note 3, I get the following error message once the device turns on: "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped". I can just click ok and the message goes away but it shouldn't be appearing in the first place so does anyone know how to make it go away? An the phone works fine.
Yes I did a clean install, tried clearing the data and cache from app manager and any of the obvious ideas.
Anybody else having this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated!

try doing a factory reset, if this does not work then try flashing a different 4.4.2 or re-downloading the one you flashed and trying again.

you have already downloaded and installed a different version of 4.4.2????
if you are getting the problem on multiple roms then you must be doing something wrong during the flashing process.

Hmm, Tried a reflash? -- if no good, reflash with a full wipe that usually solves 99% of issues. Only thing I can think of
I had that problem too and it almost made me to hit my note 3 into the wall. From the first day I turned him...
My fix solution was Settings>Application Manager> Menu > Reset app preference>Reboot. Do it again if its going to be the sam outcome. I found tjat when you are force stopping aps, or closing you are going to end with those messages....

i have same problem and posted before : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620340
i asked from all kings of developing , but no one could help me .
i searched on google and found out that problem maybe cause of our sim-card . maybe changing sim card your problem will be solved.
i'm almost confident that is cause of baseband " NA6" and we should wait for 4.4.2 for our region with different baseband .
be aware , this problem is with u even when try any custom rom , cause all af the are using NA5 and NA6 .
just crossing your finger and wait for new and diffrent baseban version my friend .
I'm having a similar issue accept my phone boots with the error, and will not go away even after multiple confirmations and reboots. Tried wiping cache/dalvik but nothing.

Are you rooted with any changes?
Sent from my Note 3...making all others drool!
I had the same type of problem myself,
But on my HTC one. I was close to start the painful process of unrooting my device and go back to stock.
My problem was not having ANY network & using the phone or sms didn't work at all. I read many "solutions" on the internet but none helped.
I experimented myself and found a solution to my problem. If it can help others as well I am glad.
First go into settings, then apps.
Scroll to all applications, search for phone.apk - if you have an option to uninstall phone.apk to previous version/state do this. Reboot the phone. In my case this did the trick and everything is working properly. Hope it helps others as well.
Please respond if you tried and it worked. It may be helpful for others too.

I have a LG L70 that I rooted. I didn't install any ROM's on it. But what I did do was change the run time from Davik to ART. When the phone turned back on I received the warning Unfortunately the phone stopped working. And when I tried to factory reset the LG L70, that's when I get the error message Unfortunately com.android.phone has stopped working. Then I reset the phone back to Davik with no success. Is there a solution to fix this problem without using a PC? I can't even download anything because I can't sign in to my Google account. And trying to download direct the phone will not open any files, even the files I've saved on my SD Card. Please help. I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. Going to settings>apps>all apps etc. doesn't work.

Try wiping cache, dalvik cache, system data and then factory reset (all this from recovery). I don't own a LG phone but this process is the same for almost all phones I think.
how did you erase the cache/dalvik in this situation

How did you wipe the cache/dalvik in this situation. I can't even reinstall anything to re-root the phone. And there is no keyboard that I can type on. The only way that I can communicate with the phone is to speak through voice mode. And that isn't always a good experience.

J500FN some apps are force closing

Hello XDA Community, I have a problem. I was using Slim stock rom of @vaserbanix and I decided to install Xposed Franework and Wanam Xposed for Android 5.x.x I choosen some settings of that app and rebooted. Since that moment, some apps like Facebook, Amazon Shopping, Gmail and Google Keep don't work. When I open them, there's a message that the apps stopped, so there's a force closing of these apps. I tried to flash CM 12.1 and the problem in few apps was fixed, but spotify got a force close. I decided to flash the latest firmware via odin to restore the telephone, but the problem keeps appearing. I also tried to clean cache, dalvik cache and I cleaned cache of single application. I don't know what to do, the problem keeps appearing. Can you help me? Please guys

Well I don't have warranty anymore since I rooted it, and I don't want to pay that money. That's alot!
Okay, it seems that with CM 12.1 by Nick Verse I solved the problem. Anyway, I'm scared because on stock I think the problem will come again. I'll wait the new firmware 6.0.1 for J500FN when it will be out. For now I'll stay with CM

Galaxy A5 2016 (A510M) PlayStore -505 error and [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE]!

Hello! I'm having this horrendous error that is basically stopping me from using my device properly.
I've been using my phone (stock rom, TWRP installed, rooted, with xposed) for months normally. Suddenly, boom, I can't install any... apps... at all. Tried almost fifty diferent apps so far, not a single one can be installed. If I try installing it from the Play Store, I get the error -505. If I try downloading the .apk externally and then installing it from the file manager, it just says "App wasn't installed", and I can only click okay and then try again to no avail.
I started running out of random solutions to try. Unistall certain apps, reseting the phone, deleting dalvik-cache, deleting Play Store and Play Services' cache, re-setting up my Google account. Absolutely no success.
Then I trying pushing an app through adb. I'm getting [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE] with every single app I ever try, no matter if I had it installed before or not. What the hell's happening? I cannot find ANY solution to my problem at all, and I really really can't hard reset my phone now (which everyone suggests at one point or another).
Any ideas on what I should or can do? Have anyone ever experienced this before? Thanks!
Try

Already did everything this video suggests, nothing works.
1. open /system/build.prop with root explorer.
2. find ro.build.official.release=true and change true to false.
3. save and reboot

Did not try this, but I did solve the issue by dirty flashing a stock rom on top of mine. Had to re-root, reinstall Xposed and TWRP, but now everything's working fine. Strange.
If this ever happens again I'll surely try your suggestion.
