Bracketing - Huawei P10 Plus Questions & Answers

What is the best way to make bracketing. With Huawei camera there is no function for bracketing. With camera fv-5 app it's not working probably and it is even not possible to set the shutter speed. Any suggestions?

Not sure why you need bracketing if u can see the image before shooting.
Or you can shoot in raw and edit the pictures later.

The camera has hdr option, and with raw you can manipulate the image as you want.
Use the shadows and highlight in Photoshop.

I know, but it's no where near as good as taking, say, 7 images at -3eV through +3eV and combining them in an HDR program or app.

Yup. He'll need a tripod though...

Thanks for answering
I need it for photos spheres in HDR as I wrote in an other thread.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10-plus/how-to/photo-sphere-focus-t3611563
I use tripod and nodal adapter and shoot single images and stitch it in ptgui.
I would love to do it all on Huawei p10 plus but somehow the results are blurry when I use streetview app camera.
https://goo.gl/photos/Xmdi4FpsTwi22wbt7

So bracketing is not possible on Huawei p10 plus. So I tried to stitch fotos in raw but they don't have exif data. Ptgui needs this information. Huawei makes it not easy to make photo-spheres.

Camera settings for best quality

Guys okay i can see all of you likes the camera quality and i think then is just me i cant do the right settings to it to get good quality pictures ... i read in this forum to get rid of task killers and use only System Panel and to disable the image stabilizer to get more focused and non blurry pictures but still i don`t think the quality is that great because the sharpness is big fail ...(or it is me not using the right settings) if i have to compare it with camera of nokia 6700 the nokia is taking better quality pictures ... if somebody can tell me what is the right settings to use i`ll be more than happy ty! atm i at as it fallows Normal capturing mode, 8mpx or 6mpx it depends scenes more often are in normal and using multi autofocus as common taking picture method
i agree, id be very interested in the replies, i put most of mine down to poor light but to be fair it should be able to deal with indoor lighting
Ive used 8mp and 6mp wide. I switch on screen touch to take photo. Image stabiliser off.

well its looking good John but anyways in full size picture the quality is not so good... when i`m looking my pictures in my phone they look great but when i download them at my pc they are very different ...i red about switching stabilizer off and its a bit better y but still is more to want from that camera

I use Vignette since I think the default camera app messes with the picture.. it compresses it or something
Plus with Vignette you can take 16:9 8 mp shots, not just 4:3 8 mp. and they look great. Look at my timelapse for proof
yeah with vignette is much better i think but it is only me again how to shoot video with vignette ... because i can only take pictures with this widget
Vignette has a widget?
Anyway Vignette is only for taking pictures, not videos
I think the pics are compressed when uploaded. Zoom is hopeless though.

Yeah... it's a crap digital zoom. Not gonna get anything more out of a lens that small. I don't think I've seen a cameraphone with an optical zoom, and we have some insane cameraphones in Japan. (12 MP CCD with 1080p video, ect)

always try to play with EV. It kinda seems that on 0 EV images are bit over exposed. Same as taking well lit night images, lowering EV do -0.7 -1 also lowers ISO values, so you ll get less noise

Well, thing is, Vignette can't do that
And the stock camera app is compressing the files too much.
Why the hell SE doesn't give us the option to set compression level?

Confirmed T-mobile 5.1.1 got RAW

So all you need to do is download snapcamera or camera fv-5 and enable camera api2 bcoz the stock camera not yet got the option to shoot RAW but the API2 is there.

Sorry to piss on your parade but its a base feature of the OS so all you have done is installed an app that can work with the API already in Android. Wake me up when Samsung enables it directly in their own camera app so we can make full use of the Hardware as intended and properly calibrated to the sensor.

I think you got some misunderstanding concept here. It is not a must bcoz Lollipop supports full(api2), limited(api2) and legacy mode(api1). Our 5.0.2 currently is running on limited without RAW function. Some other phones like Note4, Sony Z3 probably is still running with old driver mode.

There are examples where a third-party camera app produces much better quality than Samsung's own app. Like this, this and this on the Note 4.

Is it not the point with a converged device like a smartphone that you don't need to carry all those extra things?

What's the old adage? "The best camera is the one you have with you."
No one should expect DSLR quality photos from their smartphone (yet), but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the new RAW capture abilities. Sometimes I'm out with friends or driving somewhere and I catch a nice sunset or a perfect cityscape shot. I wasn't out with the intent to shoot so I don't have my camera with me. Well guess what—I can still get a (potentially) nice shot now, because my phone can capture RAW images for me to tinker with later.

Of course not. It's foolish when smartphones are compared with DLSRs. Even my ancient Canon 300D with all of its 6 megapixels still performs better than my new Galaxy S6. But that's not the point. I will not always carrying that bulky DLSR with me but I always carry my phone.

I don't see why they can't be both benefit by RAW. Why only DSLR is allow to shoot RAW? Because you think I want to transform my S6 to DSLR via RAW? Are you kidding me?

Well because when the opportunity comes to take a great photo and I don't have my dslr I won't just say ohhhh dam. And no the quality will not be as good but I'll have the shot.
Do people know that photography is an art and people still use pinhole cameras to get shots and people still use an old dslr with 5 mp to sell work ?
However if you don't understand the passion in photography I can understand your point.

What settings do you suggest for low light shoots?
Attached from left are image no HDR, HDR, Light room android RAW edit super low light and light room android RAW edit morning sky. All taken using stock camera app.
The camera is quite miss or hit. Sometime the photo came out pretty mediocre but sometime its on par with s7.

Play with manual mode, ISO 800-1600 and exposure time (1/15 - 1/18sec). have you a tripod, you can use iso 200-400 and exposure time 4sec or higher.
a lower ISO has better image quality!
Edit: add low light sample photo with manual mode

Both are 12mp, but the 48mp is a fake mode to render the pics in a higher resolution. But it will lose definition
So you advised me not to unlock my mi9t for that because it is not worth it is it?

The difference is really minimal, it is especially at the time of the zoom but otherwise the image as a whole is practically identical in quality..
In my tests, using raw files, there was a decent amount of difference. but again, the "need" for the extra detail is very rare. 12mp raw is good enough. I enable the 48mp only in special occasions.
will post a few tests tomorrow

Sorry i thought it was someone else ?
in my tests, night shot does not benefit from using raw nor 48mp raw, as the raw does not have the result of the night shot processing, so the jpeg result is wayyy better and cleaner than the raw.
you need a lot of cleaning and filtering to the raw to make it look good.
also, with the 48mp module enable you get artifacts on the image and preview if the ISO gets to high.
so, in summary, no, 48mp is not useful for low light.
if your scene is "stationary", and you have a tripod, a photo with long shutter time is miles better, as you can get a super clean image from a night scene. But gcam does not have manual options, so another app is necessary, like hedgecam2. also, the 48mp module allow doubling the shutter time (60s from 30s original) so you can take very slow and super clean night images, for stationary scenes and tripod use.
but i don't know if there is an app to allow 48mp raw and manual adjustments, to have a 48mp raw night image. hedgecam can do manual with 48mp jpeg + 12mp raw only, but if you enable the magisk 48mp module and shoot raw, it crashes hedgecam
hedgecam2 + gcam + ANXCamera + 48mp module, are the "almost complete" package to take the best you can from mi 9t
