Sprint omadm notification saying 'checking device status' after flashing G950U1 - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Does anyone have a sprint omadm notification saying 'checking device status' after flashing G950U1?

You can safely ignore. As far I'm aware when it happened to me, nothing else... lol It'll eventually disappear after a while.

It's been a few days and it's still there

Weird, assuming you've rebooted at least once right? Are you in the States?

Is your Sprint s8 unlocked? If not it won't work with any provider besides Sprint.

My s8 is originally Verizon, using it with ATT sim, so that's why i think it's very weird

Sorry to revive this thread. But I have a Cricket S8 and flashed the July update XAA which from my knowledge is the unlocked S8 firmware. After flashing I get the exact same thing even though I didnt flash any sprint firmware and my sim card is a Cricket one.

This exact same thing is happening with me, however it only started after I just updated to 8.0.

Question about putting 935u firmware on new phone

Hello,
I got a good deal on a new sealed Verizon S7 edge, going to use on Cricket. The phone will be in my hands on Tuesday.
The question I have is can I just charge the phone and flash it right out of the box to 935U? Or do I have to turn it on and do anything to it?
Thanks for your time.
Just put that sucka in download mode and flash that u firmware
Many thanks for the reply that's what I was thinking.
Just wanted to be sure. Take Care.
I'm using a Verizon S7 Edge right now on Cricket with the 935U software. I don't have any issues.

Thanks for the information I saw a few posts about IMEI issues, hope I don't run into that. Not going to root just flash the 935U firmware. Did you have any issues with activation or IMEI? Hoping to just pop my sim in and go.

Nope. I just flashed the 935U software, rebooted the phone, popped in my sim card and the phone automatically restarted and download all of the APNs. I haven't rooted either.

That's great to hear ! I've been messing with electronics for years. First time flashing a phone, not worried about the process, just the activation. Very happy with Cricket, I don't mind my speed being capped, never bothered me, use WiFi 85% of the time.

No you have the 935v =Verizon stock firmware, the 935U is Samsung international firmware meaning it don't have a carrier like Verizon. ect.

You can't downgrade from aph1 the latest update updated the bootloader. But you can still have data, messaging, etc with the aph1 update just takes a bit of tinkering.

I'm currently running the 930u firmware and love it I have my Hotspot an all. It's a completely different phone now. First few days of my s7 I HATED it. My s5 was faster no joke, I don't know what sprint did with their bloat but it's a different phone without it.

That's what I came from was 930u latest firmware it is pretty amazing compared to 930p. I just really missed adaway and a few other things. I had a s5 with unlocked bootloader before my s7 and yes my s5 was way faster than my s7 fresh out the box.

LOL I didn't notice how much Adaware did until I didn't have it.
There are a few things more im missing but 930u is a huge step in the right direction. I need to do more research I guess been years since I've had to root a device I almost took this thing back an went back to my s5 after the first day.
I know about Sam Mobile but it's links are super slow unless you pay, I was trying to find a decent free link.
I don't even need a custom rom I'm stoked on this one as is, I'd be happy with this an xsposed modules.

Well I had a hard time getting the LTE and messaging to work with root. 930u when I rooted I could not change my apns I couldn't add new ones either. I tried using ##data# to go in and fix my apns that way but I needed my msl which sprint refused to give me. On sprint firmware tho all u have to do is go to build prop and change ro.cdma.default_alpha it says chameleon after the root process change it to Sprint and ro.cdma.default_numeric from 310000 to 310120 and restart ur phone.

Flashing T Mobile firmware on ATT

So I have seen multiple people here on the forum claiming to do it or wanting to do it and I am a bit confused. I have an s7 edge on contract from ATT. Can I do this? If I flash T Mobile's firmware on this does this make my phone usable with a T Mobile sim?
Thank you

Can you advise the procedure? I'm currently permanently locked to AT&T network and would like to use a carrier (SK Telecom - Korea).
Wouldn't you still need to SIM unlock your AT&T phone to use on T-mobile network? I don't think just flashing another carriers ROM will allow you to use their network. Am I Wrong in thinking this way?

Go to http://www.cellunlocker.net/ and get an unlock code for your phone. I unlocked my tmobile S7 edge this way right out of the gate worked just fine.

I am confused. Can I not flash the phone with t mob firmware without unlocking? I thought this was just a software restriction and would have been removed by flashing a new firmware.

Flashing the phones firmware will not carrier unlock the device. That is tied to the IMEI. It will boot up the Tmobile software, but it still will only work on AT&T network.
Also in order to unlock the device from AT&T they will most likely bill you for the remaining value of the device as soon as you request an unlock code. You cannot take a phone from one carrier to another unless it is fully paid off.
I have an Unlocked AT&T S7 and I can put in a T-Mobile sim and it works. So why Flash T-Mobile onto an AT&T phone if its Unlocked??? My AT&T S7 is Paid for in Full.
My question is, if you do flash T-Mobile firmware on AT&T phone will you get OTA updates off of T-Mobile, like when Nougat comes out????? Also would you still have wifi calling and get all the LTE bands of a T-Mobile phone????

Yes. All the edge models have identical hardware. Their only differentiating factor is the firmware they run. I flashed the unlocked firmware onto my AT&T model and now get updates directly from Samsung. If you flash the T-mobile firmware on the AT&T device, all features will work and updates will come from T-Mobile. Same would work if you flash the AT&T firmware onto a T-Mobile variant. Or Verizon to Sprint, Sprint to AT&T, etc.

So you are saying this about S7 Edge, does this work the same for the AT&T S7 SM-G930A? Mine is not the Factory Unlocked model but I got the unlock code from AT&T. I thought the firmware came from the carrier and not Samsung on updates on a carrier branded phone???
So if I flash T-Mobile into my AT&T S7, I can also flash it back to AT&T firmware should I go back to AT&T???
Think you are talking about flashing firmware on your that is original for the Factory Unlocked version, think its SM-G930F

Well people on the S7 edge have flashed the tmo firmware on their AT&T models. Updates come from carrier on branded phones. So if you have an AT&T phone and flash another carriers firmware, it would only be branded by the physical logo on the back. It's like buying a Windows PC and installing Linux. The updates would come from Linux, not Windows, and vice versa. You could always go back to the AT&T firmware, just make sure that both firmwares you flash are on the same bootloader version.

But I have always read that OTA updates come from Carrier not from Samsung. Thanks for the info. Maybe AT&T will be out with Nougat by Spring after S8 are out for sale.

Updates do come from the carrier. However, if you flash a different carriers firmware you will start getting updates from the new carrier.

Can I completely delete Sprint from my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge?

I have an "unlocked" SGS7 edge that I bought from a friend and he had it with Sprint. I tried using on AT&T network but it asked me for an MSL code in order to be able to change the APN settings to the AT&T ones. I was able to get the MSL from someone who know more about phones than I do. After this, I am able to use the network and data from AT&T but it still has some features blocked because I can't get past the "Hands Free Activation" from Sprint. These features are the hotspot and voicemail among other.
So my question is if I can completely delete Sprint from my phone by flashing the AT&T firmware for the S7 edge onto my device.
All help is welcome.

Read the back of ur phone if it says 935u then it's an unlocked version.
Use the xda samfirm tool put
Model SM-G935U
Region ATT
It will download the most recent firmware from samsung servers.
Set to auto
Flash the files in that zip with odin.

Flashing T-mobile firmware on Verizon s10+

Hello,
I had a s8+ and I was able to re-brand it from AT&T to T-mobile; although I don't remember the exact process. I recently got an S10+ Verizon from my boss and I have it carrier unlocked and running on T-mobile. I was wondering if you can flash T-Mobile branded firmware so I can get access to WiFi Calling and the built in visual voicemail. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes you can. I don't think there is a inbuilt visual voicemail on the t mobile branded devices. I had to install from the play store.

Yes, I have done it. I ended up going to non-branded firmware. As soon as you put your sim in, it installs visual voicemail....at least it did for me.

Thank you. Do you know if the hardware is the same for the verizon and tmobile phones? with it just unlocked and with the tmobile chip the signal wasn't as high. I'm hoping when I flash it with t-mobile firmware it flashes the radios to use the tmobile bands as well.
