Problem with video & audio - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I started having some strange issues with audio and video playback on my Nexus 6P. It seems that my phone has suddenly lost the ability to play any audio or video file. In Google Photos app if I try to play a local video file it just informs that the file cannot be played. If I try to shoot video using Google Camera it just informs that the connection to the camera is lost. I cannot listen to Google Music or even the system ringtones & notifications. Even the alarm clock starts without any sound(only vibration).
I don't know what exactly caused this. My phone is rooted and I'm using custom roms. Lately I've been using Pure Nexus and Substratum themes. I suspect that the problem started after switching the theme in Substratum.
I have already wiped my phone from recorery(TWRP) and clean installed the rom & gapps. That didn't seem to help so I clean installed another rom(Nitrogen OS). I still seem to have the same issue.
Could this be hardware related issue? Any ideas?

Anyone know of they work on the Nexus One? I'm downloading them now.
Camera installed and works but missing the shutter button graphics. Meh
Music App works great.
Desk Clock fails to install. Could be a permission thing.
Gallery 3D FCs when trying to launch.
Cube Livewallpaper works but FC's when opening the settings
I just tried the new Music app this morning. It works. They have official signatures too so it works even on unrooted phones.
The music app seems nice, though it also seems a bit sluggish to me. It will take a few days to know if some of the Music apps annoying bugs have been fixed yet.
I haven't tried the other apps yet, maybe later today. I'm curious what has been changed.
camera nd music work fine (though you will replace the camera app entirely and the prog is a bit crippled regarding options)
gallery-app does not work for me (force closes)
Music works fine, but still has not implemented Gapless Playback and Album Artist classification.
It won't install for me. It just says "Application not installed".
????
is there a way to install these on an unrooted phone without overwriting the original system apps?
Just install as normal. You can't overwrite a system app.
Any remarkable improvement in the new camera app?
I can't find the “Recent” section with album previews and a scrolling wheel feel? Can you guys tell me how to get to it?
Thanks.
Are any of y'all running unrooted stock gingerbread 2.3.3 on your phones? I am and I can only get the gallery to install and it just force closes

Im running stock gingerbread and the music player downloaded and is working just fine. Didn't try the other apps because reading the comments from other users they all had the same result as you.

Thanks for the feedback.
I tried re-installing the gingerbread update and installing the app again but I just got the same results. I had rooted my phone using SuperOneClick when it had Froyo because of internal space issues but when I updated it to Gingerbread there was really no need. It is my understanding the phone becomes unrooted after you install the update right?
I am unrooted 2.3.3, and as I said earlier, the music player won't install. I just get "Application not installed".
Is that what other people are getting?

I got the same error. My problem was that I had the updated music player (Gold Speaker Music App). I went ahead and reflashed the gapps, Giving me the old music app (Blue Speaker Music App), now the the music app installs just fine.
Note this will not replace the Blue Speaker Music App.
After the Leaked Music App was installed, I do not have the Music Sync option in the my Google sync settings that came with the Gold Speaker Music App. I have tried to update to the Gold Speaker Music App after I got the leaked music app working however the Gold Speaker Music App replaced both music apps.
Thought I would add: I was doing this in hopes that I would get the Jumper and the Sync option with the new Leaked Music App, just in case Syncing would start working. Maybe this is the key to get the Google Music Sync to work again and I hope someone smarter than me can figure this out.
Ah, a great thing about the new music player (just installed with no problem on my unrooted N1) is that it works with Voice Search's "Listen To..." option, where the old Froyo one doesn't. Very sweet. "Listen to Paranoid" brought the song right up, and it starts playing, no need to hit any keys. Will be great in the car.
Also seemed to grab an existing playlist I made on my phone using PowerAmp, which also makes me very very happy.

Music player: "sorry, audio player does not support this type of file," camera prob

Music player: "sorry, audio player does not support this type of file," camera prob
so I have a GB 2.3.4 Atrix 4G, and usually, it plays my music and takes pictures fine. But every so often (it seems everyday), I wind up rebooting after, when trying to player music, it says "sorry, this type of file is not supported," even tho I've been playing them all the time. Also, when this happens, the camera and camcorder also happen to stop working, saying "com.camera.android (or blur)" unexpectedly closed. All my songs are MP3 or MPEG4, and usually all play.
Why is this happening on an update? What can be done to prevent it? Are there apps I need to keep off the "auto-end list?" Does rooting a phone bring this on (via pre-install method)? Or is this a common glitch? I have also complained about the way the music player doesn't have an "all songs" option for the player. Personally, I think a blur 5.0 needs to come out already.
Whoops, I've run into this problem several times, too.
Click on the Next or Previous button on the music widget may sometimes help the audio playback issue, but I'm not sure if it fixes the camera.

Issues playing cached/local albums in Google Play Music

I recently upgraded to the newest version of Google Play Music for the All Access feature, but I've found that the app is having trouble playing music that I have on my phone, whether it is cached from the app or added manually.
The first song of an album or playlist will play, but the app displays a "Music playback error : Couldn't play the track you requested" whenever the app tries to move to the next track. This doesn't happen to streaming music strangely, only music I've cached or loaded from my computer.
Is anyone else having this issue? Let me know if you're able to reproduce this or not. I've tried re-installing the app, clearing the cached music and data, all to no avail.
I really want to love this app with its new layout, but not being able to properly play back local music is a huge issue.
BTW my phone is rooted, not sure if that's going to be an issue or not.

No sound from notifications

SlimKat 4.4.4 on SGH-T-999
Flashed about a year ago, no issues except camera (Can't access camera sometimes. CM does this also. Not the point of this post)
Recently noticed I'm not getting sound from Google voice notifications. I get the Notification bar & LED flash.
I wiped app data & reinstalled. The sounds came back. I set the notification tone & it worked about a day.
It stopped working again. I just now realized that other notifications not making noise either.
Interesting fact is that in the app/notification sound picker, the sounds don't preview. When you pick a new sound, it is supposed to play so you can tell which sound. There is no sound. I have Business Calendar Pro, SplenDo (Tasks), Hangouts, GMail. No app plays the sound when you change the notification sound.
I have phone ringtone & it will accept changes & it plays the sample when you change it.
I can play audio from a few different apps (Google music, Spotify, ES File Exp, Onkyo Player)
The only reason I'm posting it here is it seems to be affecting everything, so I dont think it's an individual app.
Not sure where to look next.

Airaudio Problems on LOS 17.1 with Magisk

Yesterday, I loaded the AirAudio app (v9) to stream to my Apple Airport Express. I downloaded and installed the AirAudio module (v6) on Magisk (v20.4).
Among other problems, my display went to full brightness, and although the display brightness slider is still there and slides, the brightness does not change. In addition, my music player will not play ( songs do not progress in the "Play" monitor), and I have lost all sound from the phone.
I've removed the app and uninstalled the Magisk module, but the problems remain.
Also, camera now locks up when snapped and other apps lock up.
Anyone else having issues with this app on LOS? None of these problems have occurred prior to loading AirAudio and module.
Thanks!

Hey there,
AirAudio has been kicked by Google because they didn't like a link to a rooting-website inside the description anymore, written 7 years ago.
Its successor is called AirMusic and allows to stream some apps (eg. YouTube, YT Music, Deezer, PodcastAddict , radio.de, Plex and more, you have to try it out) without root on Android 10+.
On rooted devices, all audio can be transmitted.
To get around the Magisk-issues with LOS, please contact the developer for a TWRP-flashable zip.
