Huawei Y5 (y560) keyboard is wanting to install emoji keyboard as part of update - Huawei Y5 (2017) Questions & Answers

My Huawei y5 says that the default keyboard is touchpal X and that it is system installed so it cannot be deleted to use ASOP keyboard instead. What is annoying now is that it has become really invasive wanting to install Touchpal X with Emoji's. This has the affect of generating floating bubbles on screen with news article links and little blue diamonds. At first I thought my phone was under attack by viruses, but it now seems to be part of the update.
I want to remove complete the ability for the touchpal app to update.
Also I'd like to receive no update notifications for this app because it keeps wanting to update.
I turned off the news feed setting but it still generates floating icons, hence why I want to get rid of it. And the keyboard is awful anyway, given that it has a black background. Its impossible to see with low light settings.

problem background keyboard

I installed a theme and this is the only problem...can i change the background?
sorry for my bed english
thx
I think it was intentional. There doesn't seem to be any graphical glitches and the keyboard's transparent!
i hope not I see no good
Some visual artifacts occur sometimes with the keyboard background. I had something similar with Better Keyboard having a white background that was looking awfull with the black keys. I've solved it by switching to other input method and back to Better Keyboard (also a restart but this I don't think it helped to much).
What you can do, is to switch to other keyboard (install a free one from the market if you don't have any), than switch back to android keyboard. There are big chances that your problem will be solved this way.
P.S. This is only if your newly installed theme does NOT have a transparent background for the keyboard. If it's made like this by purpose by the theme creator, your only option is to change the theme..or ask for a non transparent version of it.
Rapier you're right! I changed various keyboards and this has solved my problem (Multilingual Gingerbread keyboard)as always..many thanks!!!

The Good and Bad LG Software Features

This is a thread for those coming from an AOSP ROM like Vanilla Android or CyanogenMod or even from other OEM overlays like Sense. What would you say are the good and LG features?
For me, good:
Heads up display implantation of incoming calls when screen is on that ensures you don't break your workflow.
Little hovering window to show a call is in loudspeaker in the background with the time on it
Though almost standardised, having call controls in the notification drawer
Bad:
Auto expanded notifications
Unable to disable the clips tray
Unable to remove toggles from within the drawer
Battery percentage being to the left of the battery
Unable to customise lockscreen
Implementation of software navigation keys breaks functions like hiding the keyboard
Customisation of the share intent with everything being ticked all the time
I only had my phone for half a day, but already some software feature I really like:
"Clip Tray" (Multi-clipboard).
Double-knock to wake and go to sleep (I don't use knock-code, haven't tried it yet)
And something I really don't like:
Keyboard sluggishness. When I type (using flow), it's always 1 or 2 words behind... I'm going to replace it quickly with Google keyboard or SwiftKey

Agree with you about the keyboard... I hate it. I was using s4 with keyboard ported from s5. Is sluggish and i keep typing space more often..
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
I've noticed that the keyboard is sluggish with more than one language selected.
I really like the keyboard. Haven't tried swipe input on it yet. Overall i'm really impressed by the UI. Its got great flat icons, beautiful selection of wallpapers and lots of options to customise.
Knock on and knock code are great. Clip tray is a very useful feature and the popup reply notifications for the messaging app are really handy and have stopped me from using Hangouts as my main SMS app.
The downsides so far are no search on server within the email app and no option to show the weather on the smart notice widget without turning on GPS. Also for some reason LG took out the wireless storage feature from the G2 which was very useful. They should have kept it.
Bad:
When adding contacts, the default option is to add to "Phone" with no way of changing it.
Oversharpening of text. More obvious on certain fonts with black text on white background.
Camera options are way too limited.
Overall I'm quite happy with the software. Looks pretty good and some of the added features are quite useful.

Fire HD 8 (2016): device is smooth, the software is crap, why?

Hi,
I just received a brand new Kindle HD 8, and the device runs smoothly, and I also installed Google play store and got my favorite apps running. However, I wonder why Amazon makes the UI experience so bad for the customer compared to normal Android. My main concerns are the following, maybe you have some suggestions what I am doing wrong.
1.) Notifications - compared to standard Android, where you get a little white symbol for every app that notifies you in the notification bar directly, the kindle is only able to display a small number, indicating how many notifications there are, but you have to swipe to see which apps actually notify you. Very bad user experience, instead they display the name of your device (how stupid is that?). Could be easily implemented, I absolutely do not understand why.
2.) There is a search bar pane on the top of the homescreen which cannot be removed. Why not make it removable like a widget? You cannot even change the search engine this bar uses, it's always "Bing", regardless of what people select in the Silk Browser settings.
3.) Just a minor issue, but in the German localisation, in settings menu, if you are looking for the Blutooth settings, you have to navigate to Settings -> WLAN
But please, Amazon: why are you doing that? Why not allow the user to customize the UI to their needs? This way, it feels like a solid hardware at a reasonable price, which is intentionally limited by a bad UI experience, which really is a shame What do you think?
Agree with you. But you have to remember Amazon is trying to control their environment like Apple does. Easier to maintain. Also I'm sure they are markerting to the average users, not really focused on XDA users I am waiting for root access and ability to flash custom roms on it...

recent apps view issue after system update WW_13.20.10.79_20161009

Hi all,
after the system update version WW_13.20.10.79_20161009 , pushing recent apps button, the view of open apps wasn't as usual like a group of 3D tabs with a wonderful
effect in scrolling among them. but as a flat view. In other words every app appears below the previous, not in 3D style view as usual.
Anyone can help me to understand if this is right after the update, or it 's a misconfiguration of my update or a particular settings that I need to apply ?
Thank you in advance
Roberto
Got the same behavior and found no settings for that. And after a day, I found it OK.
And the notification on expanded status bar sometimes become 3d like recent too
Bought my phone(ZE552KL) 3 days ago(Canada) and today installed a new update called MMB29P.WW_Phone-13.20.10.131-20161028 So while I can't compare since the first I did when I got the phone in install all updates, the background apps list does look VERY 2D and flat like you said. And honestly I'm having a hard time seeing if an app is in the background or in the foreground.
Still ****ing love this phone tho!

[Closed] Cannot hide navbar on EMUI 5

Hello, I saw a screen made on my friend's EMUI 4 smartphone. There was an arrow pointing down, that's used to hide the navigation bar on EMUI 4.
Anyways, I don't have that on EMUI 5 (P10 Lite, build 188), it isn't even disabled.
I don't want to download a separate app, which might cause high RAM consume and some big bugs/glitches/problems.
Does anybody know how to enable that option?
Here's a screen:
Unfortunately it can't be done. There is software that adds it, but it has serious problems in some apps and games. The feature seems to have completely vanished from EMUI5.1 and Android 7.
Fortunately, modern apps and games don't have this issue, as they are programmed to show/hide the bar or have it transparent (like the gallery app). This won't help with older apps though. You'll be stuck with the buttons for those. I do wish I could hide them in the gallery. Viewing a full screen image with some transparent buttons on the side is a bit stupid.

Ok, I understand. Do you think that it will come to EMUI 8 as we saw in other phones who already received the beta?
I also tried an app called "Settings Database Editor", it's working just when you want to hide it, but there's no known process which tells the smartphone that, when you swipe up, the navbar must come out.
I followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/root-hide-navbar-via-little-arrow-t3443250
Immersive Settings
Immersive Settings app in Google play?
I think a day or so ago, some news came out that the p10 lite would get emui8.0. If hiding the buttons is possible in the emui8 beta, it would seem the p10 lite would be able to hide them as well. I sure hope so!

I already said that I don't want to use external apps...

Yeah it seems that it's confirmed, I hope that the button will be added on EMUI 8!
This is honestly one of the things that seriously annoys me about Huawei. They are constantly removing features from one EMUI update to the next. You become so used to having certain features while using a device, then as soon as you upgrade to another device, you lose that same feature you've been using for a year, or more! I miss being able to hide the navigation bar as well, and also being able to hide apps in the launcher. It's incredibly infuriating!

Actually... They also add random features without telling anyone. As they added the living images from the Lumia series now to the camera app as well. It's a bit of a mess.
Fortunately, about the hidden apps: you can get them back using a third party app that can do a few config changes on EMUI. Unfortunately not for the navbar, but it is for the hidden apps and enabling custom fonts (partially): emui tweaker.

I haven't gotten that update yet, since my device is branded, but I'm hoping I get the living images soon too, because I think it's awesome! [emoji23]
Regarding EMUI tweaker, I used it for a while, but since the font in the hidden apps folder disappears after a while, and also uninstalling the app removes the tweak, I decided to stop using it. [emoji85] It's still a good app though, but I'd just prefer being able to activate the tweak using ADB commands, but no one seems to know the commands to enable it. Either way though, I might as well just get used to not hiding my apps, since all EMUI versions going forward won't have the setting anyway.
