Random MP3s Not Detected/Being Played - Moto Z Force Questions & Answers

Just recently I made the switch from Google Play Music to a third party player and put all my music onto the phone. Everything seemed to work fine until I realized random songs here and there aren't being detected by any music player I have, or they are detected but are shown with some crazy length (sometimes even negative) and will just sit at the 0:00 mark. I've verified the files are formatted as MP3s and all so I have no clue what the issue might be.

I have a similar issue. The default tones in the "Notifications" or "Ringtones" folders will show in Google Play Music. No other music in any other folders show up.
Basically, I can listen to all the default notifications and Ringtones in any music app, no other music in any other folders (or even the defaults for notifications and ringtones) show in any music app, and I've tried many. I can view and play them using Root Browser even though I don't have root, but I can't play them in a music app at all.

Music Folder on MT3G

Just curious, is there a certain folder I need to place my music files in to play on my player? Everytime I go to music, it grabs all the files from notifications and my ringtones folders!! Is there a easier way to play my music?
Regarding Music...
Can anyone help me out??
Personally I don't use the stock music player for that very reason. Check out an app from the marketplace callled MixZing Lite (it's free.) It has the ability to monitor a specific folder for music and also comes with a pretty slick widget.
You can created a blank file called .nomedia (notice the dot at the front) in your ringtones folder which will stop the Media service (Gallery and Music) from searching in there for files. I have not tested if this will break ringtone searching, so give it a go and just delete your new .nomedia file if all your stuff disappears from ringtones.
You also may be interested to know if you call your album covers AlbumArt.jpg then they will appear in music player when a song from that album is playing, but Gallery will not index them and take a thousand years to load cos of all the covers called different names in different folders.

[Q] weird music player error?

there's something messed up with my music player. for some reason it won't list all of the songs on my phone. some songs are listed, but not all. this error happened only after i installed SetCPU and once set the max frequence to 67 mhz to conserve battery. my ringtone was a song in my music player list and now even that has vanished from the list, but it is still there on the SD card.
Now my default ringtone is some loud annoying ringtone.
if i try to open a song not listed in the music player using sound player (not music player) and set the ringtone from there, it doesn't work. the ringtone is still the default ringtone. i can't even set it going to the settings > sound > ringtone because all the songs are not there on the list.
moreover, all my songs don't play in a queue. so this kind of sucks.
any ideas / help other than to restore factory settings or format my phone or flash a new custom ROM?
btw, i'm using 2.2. no custom ROM.
Okay, so I even tried doing a factory reset, clearing cache, flashing a new ROM but it didn't help. The songs still don't get listed in the music player.
Then I tried transferring the songs through KIES and now they do show up in the music player list.
But most (not all) songs that I download a song off the internet, or 4shared or receive it via whatsapp it still won't get listed in the music player list. Can someone help me out with this?
Did you tried scan folders with you music player? Thats should help

Stop Google Play Music from deleting cached music

Is there anyway to stop this from happening? Unless you pin music, eventually old music gets deleted even when there's ton of space on the phone.
If you have the actual files just download them to your phone and they will always be there.
Otherwise:
1. There is an option if you go into google play music settings to auto-download music
2. If you go into the music library, click on a playlist and you'll see a download icon in between the album covers and the actual song list

Play Music issues

Hi all,
After copying my music files (mp3) to my OP8Pro I can't seem to get them showing in the YT Music or Google Play Music app. Once I opened them from file manager they will show....
With over 1000 songs it's no use opening them one by one to get them showing within the music app. Does anyone have a clue how to get them showing all at once?
I did the same and on Google music they show up automatically and YouTube music it's under local files I think

Click to collapse
Just get the best music player there has ever been on Android.
Poweramp, absolutely no equal. And of course it'll allow library editing amongst other features, definitely worth buying the pro version too, it's a great app..
