Nokia 6 on AT&T - Nokia 6 Questions & Answers

I have just ordered from ebay a Nokia 6 32gb, I know this is the Nokia that is released in china. Now I have set up the access point to be the AT&T although when I turned on the phone it did have them set up automatically. I have checked on both of the settings the automatic one and one I have set up, and both show the speed to be HSDPA+ or sometimes it shows 3G, is that all I can get from the phone here on AT&T or is there a setting that I can change to get 4G maybe not LTE but at least 4G.

the phone is 4g supported and you can enable disable or change options here settings-data usage then select vertical..., head over to cellular networks and if your sim supports 4g then you can use 4g

I did do that on the settings, and still I have not seen it change to the 4G. I will try to play with the settings little more when I get home from work. But thank you for the help.

LTE bands supported by Nokia 6 Chinese variant (TA-1000) are 700, 800, 850, 900, 1800, 2100, 2300,2600. So make sure if LTE band supported by your SIM falls on it.
Sent from my TA-1000 using XDA-Developers Legacy app

So this is what google says:
"AT&T 4G HSPA and HSPA+ use 850Mhz(Band 5) and 1900Mhz(Band 2) bands but it all depends on area if they own a license. LTE uses Band 17(700Mhz), Band 5(850Mhz), Band 2(1900Mhz), Band 4(1700/2100Mhz) currently."
So it should be on, yet 4G dose not show up.
But I started to have one other problem with the phone, I started to eat battery like crazy about 15% an hour, and I been using the phone for 1 day, and it started to get pretty warm. Anybody else having that problem? Should I start a new thread with Nokia 6 problems and fixes?

How to stop network Roaming

I'm on T-mobile here in the UK and I can't seem to stop it roaming to Orange.
I don't mind roaming except when it choses Orange 2G when I have a 3G cell over the road from me on T-mobile. If I go into networks and after searching select T-mobile it will change to T-mobile but it will not stay on it.
How do you switch off network roaming?
I'm running ICS 4.04
same here
Switch off the setting in settings-> data usage-> advanced settings

Thank you for your reply but I didn't say anything about Data roaming. I need to stop it NETWORK roaming. I don't get charged for data when roaming on Orange as they are the same company in the UK.
As I said I need to stop it NETWORK roaming. Any ideas please?
Go into Settings | Wireless & Networks | More | Mobile Networks | make sure Data Roaming is unchecked.
settings, wireless, more, mobile networks, network operators, select network instead of auto?

Yes I have done that many times as said in my first post.
"If I go into networks and after searching select T-mobile it will change to T-mobile but it will not stay on it."
I don't understand why it keeps wanting to change when I have manually selected my network. Is this a ICS 4.04 bug or am I missing a roaming setting somewhere?
Ref. Data Roaming it has been turned off the whole time see screen shot
You mean national roaming ? I think that was in previous CM and only in CM, not AOSP.
So has anyone got any ideas how to stop this roaming?
I've just got home and it has roamed to Orange again, I've been home for 1 hour now and it is still on Orange even tho I have a 3G T-mobile cell over the road from me. If I manually select T-mobile it will go onto it but it doesn't want to stay on it.
I didn't have this trouble before I upgraded to ICS 4.0.4

I think you have to call T-Mobile and opt out as its NOT normal roaming(little R over signal bar) its a network specific thing

[Q] No 2G on N9005

Hey guys, first timer here. Having a bit of issues with H+ / 2G and 4.4.2 battery drain.
I know that 4.4.2 has a battery drain bug that will be addressed with the launch of 4.4.3 and so I'll have to just keep waiting until it reaches my phone. However, I'm using the LIME network here in Jamaica and I'm unable to get 2G. This being the case, my phone stays on H+ while I'm on the road and this kills my battery very rapidly. What I usually do with my note 2 was to keep it on 2G until I needed to browse and that would allow my battery to last for up to about 16 hours.
When I select GSM only, I don't get any data whatsoever. When I check with my provider, they claim that the 2G band on my phone probably isn't compatible with theirs. I find this strange, because this note 3 is an international version. Are there any tricks, hacks or anything that anyone can give me to get 2G on demand and save some battery?
Ps. I normally use 'tellinfo' on the note 2, but it apparently isn't compatible with the N9005. Any help'd be greatly appreciated.

ask operator for their band specifications and then search it to find flashable package of modem of
N9005 that s compatible with urs.
then flash that modem.zip Or flash whole rom of another region
:good:
According to GSMArena, Jamaica uses the following bands

Many phone flashed with Super imei facing this problem, comform your imei number typing in keypad *#06# , compare with sticker under battery or box.

Well I don't know how it was flashed, but when I typed that in, I got a different imei than what's on the back of the phone. Is there any way I can fix it back? The phone keeps coming off the network and saying not registered, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a fix for this problem but u need to tack your mobile to Mobile service shop who has a TOOL SPT Box, look below link.

Sounds promising. I'll get on it Monday morning and post back here with the results. This should work for the 2G issue, but what do I need to do about the changing imei? I'd much rather get the phone back on the original
Additionally, I hear mention from a couple of persons that they ended up taking their phones to repair shops and had them do it. Is it that special hardware has to be used along with the spt software; or can I just connect up to my laptop with the software and do it myself?

[REF][INFO] The use of Xperia SP with other Operators

To prevent more users from paying way to much for a SIM card (sorry @noahvt ) I've created this thread to give some small intel about the used frequencies of the Sony Xperia SP and the use of them on your vacation.
First some small details about the case:
When you use your device as normal it is connected to your own operator. For example; I own a Xperia SP Int. LTE version and my operator is VodafoneNL. I use it normally and I have (almost) alway proper connection.
When (and this means when I win the lottery) I go to the USA I am unable to use my phone with full LTE and 3G. Reason for this is the frequencies from the American operators.
Some intel about our Sony Xperia SP.
We all know its hardware but do you know which frequecy bands it supports?

Most common question:
Q: How can I use my phone on my vacation then?
A: Depends on your location*
* see Intel about DataRoaming
Data Roaming:
Data Roaming is uses by your phone to sent and recieve data from unsupported operators. This is mostly used when your own operator has no coverage in a certain country or location and you need to use your phone.
Data Roaming does cost extra money! So you have been warned!
Roaming only works when the both operators (your own and the one in the visited country) got a Roaming Agreement. If this is not the case you cannot use data roaming!
How it works:
When the phone enters another operator coverage it will be noticed and the operator will try to locate the orignal operator to see if there is an Data Roaming Agreement. If this is not the case the phone gets denied on the network. If the two operators got an agreement step 2:
The other operator tries to get in contact with the original operator and requests intel about the phone. The original operator gives this intel; IMSI number, SIM Number and the services it supports.
When this intel has been delived the phone gets a temporay phone number with the "roaming operator". The orignal operator gives the "roaming operator" one intel how to connect to the original network.
(Ma English is poor sorry 'bout that..)
When your operator has no Data Roaming agreement with the other operator you have two choices:
Buy a temporary SIM while you enjoy you vacation
Turn the phone off and don't use it during the vacation
When you go for option 1. Remember the supported frequency bands at the beginning of this post.
The C5303 does not support certain bands and the same is for the C5302 and C5306.
Some support pages for you:
I need a bit more pages! Please sent me the one from your operator so that I can add it!
T-Mobile USA
3 Biggest Dutch Operators (on one page)
I am still working on this thread but for now you have some small intel about the use of the other operators!
Please be a smart user and ask your own operator (or store where you've got your phone) for information about the supported bands and operators in other countries
great effort but i got c5303 and my sim which requires band 2600 doesnt connect in my phone

Sprint and Roaming

Has there been any fix to this phone flat out refusing to roam no matter the settings. I'm currently in Ogallala NE, should be roaming on LTE or at least 1x, and I have no bars. It's like that in any roaming area. Or I get a couple bars then nothing. Using signal check pro to check networks. Never see anything. Have tried airplane mode cycling, changing the preferred network, anything I can think of. About to go back to my M8 because I drive all over the nation and now I've lost quite a bit of coverage in allot of states.
Lte roaming is new and unconfirmed on this device. I have no problem roaming on 1x though. Coverage map shows roaming that area? It was recently updated to show the new areas.
Yes confirmed roaming area here. Most of Nebraska is. Odd I found nTelos LTE when I was on the east. I'm no bars, using a Verizon hotspot for connectivity... Kind of sad really... It's almost like my prl is corrupt or something when it comes to roaming.
ntelos is sprint so that makes sense. I assume you have done the prl and profile updates in settings. only other thing would be to chat with sprint and see if they can do anything. Could also try a full wipe and reflash mm full firmware or moderm.
I'm noting an-aaa fails on ehrpd in the debug/engineering screen while in this area. I'm wondering if I could have a corrupted modem or modem programming. Yes I have tried updating profile and prl, both appear to take correctly.
I'm not unlocked or rooted in any way, how would I say, try to take the modem back to factory? EFS partition right?

Factory reset, and lost 1x and 3G. Now I just have LTE. Wheeeeeeeeeeee....
I think I may just have a bad phone that just kept getting worse.....
If you are locked then flash the full signed image in fastboot.

Radio Issues

Anyone else noticing an issue where you lose LTE in an overwhelmingly LTE area and it sticks on 3G? I have to use airplane mode to bump the radio back to 4G. This has been happening ever since I've had the phone. I'm curious if its just my area or if others are experiencing the same problem and if they've been able to fix it, what did you do? I have my MSL and I haven't taken the update so I am still able to edit my APN settings.

It doesnt happen to me. Whenever I dont have LTE is due to low coverage, especially when driving.

I have the same issue. The only thing that helps me is when i use it as hot spot is I mount it on my satellite receiver (pointing to signal direction). with a better signal it doesn't switch. I noticed with about 20% strength jump to 3G but my 3G is weaker and slower...
I have not experienced that problem.
SM-G935P
Mine really prefers LTE and rarely see it on 3G. If it does it's fairly quick to go back. I actually think it's too touchy it will hang on to a crap band 41 signal rather than a good 25 or 26 signal. A lot is of course going to depend on your area but I would try a radio reset.
Only time mine sticks is if im updating something or using data it wont switch back unless i move to another location outside of 3g or after the download

During this past week I lost all data connectivity. I was in a strong signal area where I have never seen a problem before. The only thing that looked wrong was there was no strength of signal indicator. My data signal has been set on automatic since I've had the phone. I changed it to LTE CMDA, the phone reset, and the problem disappeared.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I had a problem over the weekend. I was in an area with no Sprint signal at all, and when I got back home realized my phone hadn't reconnected to Spring. I ended up having to reboot, then I got several messages and emails that had been pending.

I was going to suggest this action. Set your network type from automatic to lte/cdma. Then reboot. You may also want to run a profile and prl update. Last ditch you may want to run the HFA again. Usually just changing the network type will suffice.
