To prevent more users from paying way to much for a SIM card (sorry @noahvt ) I've created this thread to give some small intel about the used frequencies of the Sony Xperia SP and the use of them on your vacation.
First some small details about the case:
When you use your device as normal it is connected to your own operator. For example; I own a Xperia SP Int. LTE version and my operator is VodafoneNL. I use it normally and I have (almost) alway proper connection.
When (and this means when I win the lottery) I go to the USA I am unable to use my phone with full LTE and 3G. Reason for this is the frequencies from the American operators.
Some intel about our Sony Xperia SP.
We all know its hardware but do you know which frequecy bands it supports?

Most common question:
Q: How can I use my phone on my vacation then?
A: Depends on your location*
* see Intel about DataRoaming
Data Roaming:
Data Roaming is uses by your phone to sent and recieve data from unsupported operators. This is mostly used when your own operator has no coverage in a certain country or location and you need to use your phone.
Data Roaming does cost extra money! So you have been warned!
Roaming only works when the both operators (your own and the one in the visited country) got a Roaming Agreement. If this is not the case you cannot use data roaming!
How it works:
When the phone enters another operator coverage it will be noticed and the operator will try to locate the orignal operator to see if there is an Data Roaming Agreement. If this is not the case the phone gets denied on the network. If the two operators got an agreement step 2:
The other operator tries to get in contact with the original operator and requests intel about the phone. The original operator gives this intel; IMSI number, SIM Number and the services it supports.
When this intel has been delived the phone gets a temporay phone number with the "roaming operator". The orignal operator gives the "roaming operator" one intel how to connect to the original network.
(Ma English is poor sorry 'bout that..)
When your operator has no Data Roaming agreement with the other operator you have two choices:
Buy a temporary SIM while you enjoy you vacation
Turn the phone off and don't use it during the vacation
When you go for option 1. Remember the supported frequency bands at the beginning of this post.
The C5303 does not support certain bands and the same is for the C5302 and C5306.
Some support pages for you:
I need a bit more pages! Please sent me the one from your operator so that I can add it!
T-Mobile USA
3 Biggest Dutch Operators (on one page)
I am still working on this thread but for now you have some small intel about the use of the other operators!
Please be a smart user and ask your own operator (or store where you've got your phone) for information about the supported bands and operators in other countries

great effort but i got c5303 and my sim which requires band 2600 doesnt connect in my phone

S5 G900L LTE problem in Europe zone

Hi, i have an S5 model G900L but i live in europe and seems it use different band frequency (850 instead of 800?) for LTE.
I'm able to get gms 2G/3G network but not 4G also if i have a 4G LTE enabled plan from my provider.
So i tryed to flash with odin g900f firmware on my g900L it fail for secure check.
I flashed it with mobile from device and SD odin and it worked. but device wont boot and redirect on download skin for odin for boot failure.
I also tryes to flash only modem part of firmware. phone boot but no 4g yet.
I hear the chip support all LTE frequency so it should be a parameter/soft problem.
There is any exploit for enable or costumize LTE frequency of my G900L for my geographic zone (europe)?
My device is rooted and with cwm recovery 6.0.48 working.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but frequencies are a hardware capability, not software. So the hardware you have is not capable of supporting that frequency.
I'm not sure LTE (modem) chip is integrate into Snapdragon 801 processor. Every model T-F-L-I-A etc have same hardware chip "Gobi" should be MDM9625 model.
Chip is able to work with multi-band so if frequency are not fixed into something like an eprom of gobi for each model i guess it just work with drivers/firmware loaded on device boot.
I found a file in root>dev> __properties__
and found a different modem model
"MSM8974PRO"
with all specs and was a row interesting about gms band
Code:
ril.skt.network_regist_status „ÿ baseband
G900LKLU1AND2 gsm.version.baseband operator 8 ´ H numeric 22201
gsm.version.baseband operator 8 match with korean skt operator maybe i should switch it to 5 (european LTE band).
I wish to try replace some file from stock g900F firmware but have few issue to extract system.img.ext4 on wndows.
so i can't test if replacing firmware ans some setting file want let me able to connect on a different LTE band
Hello All,
I have the same phone, SM-G900L and it works properly in France, 2G, 3G and LTE without problem.

and about 2G,3G and LTE are you able to switch data mode from "mobile network" menu?
Mine G900L not show me switch option
can you post a screen of your menu is look like this?
Yes, I get the same screen each time I start the phone and like you, i'm not able to find the menu to switch networl option.
I will take the screen captures asap. But for me i can get the LTE without problem.
Do you mean guys that if I bought a galaxy s5 model SM-G900F I can flash it with another model frimeware like SM-G9008V or SM-G900I and the 4g frequencies will will work fine after the flash???
Hi all,
I am having the same issue with my G900L (on Baseband G900LKLU1AND2) in the UK - 3G is fine but no 4G (SIM is 4G ready). I am getting the same prompts that ramsesxv posted as screen shots. Ramsesxv have you found a fix? Does anyone else have any ideas please?
I just got my s5 g900L. I too had problems with LTE. But I found a fix from another post.

Hi Bimmerboii,
I also have an unlocked SM-G900L which I picked up in Hong Kong and use on the 3-mobile network in the UK. I have changed the Data Setting to Auto and will wait to see if it can pick up a 4G network when I am next in London.
Could you help with some of the additional settings please? The Phone is LG-Uplus branded and is set by them to always be in roaming mode when I am in the UK. If possible I would like to make the UK my home network. Under Data Setting there is a submenu called Roaming Realm. Entering this opens a dialogue box with Cancel and OK buttons. Would you know what to enter here to set the United Kingdom as my home country?
Many thanks,
Chuffbabt
I'm confused by your query, I've just bought this phone from an eBay seller (wish I'd researched beforehand, but hey oh) and will also be using it on the Three-UK network when it arrives. I'm convinced it should work on 4G though since I believe Three UK is using the 1800mhz (correct me if I'm wrong) band for 4G which this phone definitely supports. Other than that, have you had any other signal issues in general?

Hi,
Overall I am really pleased with the phone, and the reception has generally been excellent but I have never managed to get it working on 4G. I can't say I have spent a lot of time trying, because there is no 4G signal where I live anyway.
It may well be hardware compatible, but the connection settings imposed by the Korean issuer will not allow 4G in any country it sees as roaming (ie not Korea). It works fine with Three in the UK and I have used it extensively abroad on Three's Feel at Home contract without any problems.
If you do come across any sort of firmware update that allows 4G in the UK, it would be great if you could let me know.
Thanks,
Chuffbaby

[Q] No 2G on N9005

Hey guys, first timer here. Having a bit of issues with H+ / 2G and 4.4.2 battery drain.
I know that 4.4.2 has a battery drain bug that will be addressed with the launch of 4.4.3 and so I'll have to just keep waiting until it reaches my phone. However, I'm using the LIME network here in Jamaica and I'm unable to get 2G. This being the case, my phone stays on H+ while I'm on the road and this kills my battery very rapidly. What I usually do with my note 2 was to keep it on 2G until I needed to browse and that would allow my battery to last for up to about 16 hours.
When I select GSM only, I don't get any data whatsoever. When I check with my provider, they claim that the 2G band on my phone probably isn't compatible with theirs. I find this strange, because this note 3 is an international version. Are there any tricks, hacks or anything that anyone can give me to get 2G on demand and save some battery?
Ps. I normally use 'tellinfo' on the note 2, but it apparently isn't compatible with the N9005. Any help'd be greatly appreciated.

ask operator for their band specifications and then search it to find flashable package of modem of
N9005 that s compatible with urs.
then flash that modem.zip Or flash whole rom of another region
:good:
According to GSMArena, Jamaica uses the following bands

Many phone flashed with Super imei facing this problem, comform your imei number typing in keypad *#06# , compare with sticker under battery or box.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app
Well I don't know how it was flashed, but when I typed that in, I got a different imei than what's on the back of the phone. Is there any way I can fix it back? The phone keeps coming off the network and saying not registered, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a fix for this problem but u need to tack your mobile to Mobile service shop who has a TOOL SPT Box, look below link.

Sounds promising. I'll get on it Monday morning and post back here with the results. This should work for the 2G issue, but what do I need to do about the changing imei? I'd much rather get the phone back on the original
Additionally, I hear mention from a couple of persons that they ended up taking their phones to repair shops and had them do it. Is it that special hardware has to be used along with the spt software; or can I just connect up to my laptop with the software and do it myself?

MI Note 2 Users - Please test and confirm WIFI/4G/bands

Hey guys,
As this is a new release, I am keeping an eye out for tests of the stability and reliability of 4G LTE connections (the reception) and also the same for connecting over ac WIFI. Can someone please post some tests/videos/results?
Second. can someone also take a picture confirming ALL 4G LTE FDD bands supported. GSMArena and PDAdb.net both state this supports Bankd 29 700Mhz. is this correct?
Thanks

I have the CN edition rather than the global so I wouldn't expect to have Band 29 so I can't help you there.
In terms of general stability and signal quality with LTE connections.
They're very good.
I'm not sure what kind of test/video or result you'd want to see as it seems like there are always too many variables to get consistent test results, I can quite happily get 70mbps down on LTE using band 3.
As for WiFi - I'm hoping this is a ROM issue more than anything else, I'm unable to set my locale so I don't which nations wifi regulations I'm following (I'm using mi-globe.com as there isn't currently a global release rom).
I max out with a link speed of 433mbps on 5GHz (desktop achieves 1300mbps) and can't achieve more than a stated link of higher than 150mbps on 2.4GHz (desktop achieves 600mbps)
although the range is very good, and the eventual handoff to LTE is very quick too.
Is there something specific you're looking for I can help with?

Thanks for that. Yes, I think there is. Maybe see if you can set LTE only, or LTE/3G (etc)...do you get full reception at work, or in your home? Maybe just monitor it's strength without moving the phone from a typical "full strength location" and see if it changes. You can also run other apps that will utilise more of the CPU and RAM 9not necessarily internet-demanding apps) to see if they are a factor, in any way, on the radio strength.
I am mostly interested in the global version, what ROM it is (hoping different rather than just the CN with extra languages). As it's important to see what bands are supported, usually mentioned on the package... I also need to see the functionality of the dual sim and how the 2 interact when a data connection is active and a call comes in on the other SIM, etc. Screenshots confirming the SIM's connection sin the upper right status bar would also be benefical.
Thanks

Set to LTE only I get full signal at home and I haven't noticed anywhere in the city I don't have 4G, (at least while above ground).
It's not easy to make too much of a dent with that amount of RAM but CPU increased utilisation has no affect. I tend to keep my signal details as numerical anyway, that changed today when I flashed a statusbar mod changing my clock position so it's not in my screenshots.
You won't be seeing a difference in the ROM with global version, there isn't any reason to think they're releasing a separate ROM for the global version. The ROM that's out now is for all versions, I've taken it apart and the support in the current ROM is there for all the bands. I haven't worked out where they're limiting the bands but I've had a tinker. Changes to NVRAM values are lost on reboot and I haven't got any real reason to play other than curiosity.
If they release the phone internationally that would be when they release a global ROM; the differences there are localisations, removal of Chinese local apps (baidu, etc) and inclusion of google apps instead but nothing much more substantial than that. Was there something in particular you were hoping for?
No problems running data on one sim and receiving a call on the other, I tried this a few times downloading on LTE and calling myself via Skype (to my number not Skype -> i.e not local cell or data call). 10 out of 10 times there was no problem receiving the call and no noticeable impact on data speeds at the time.
Not sure how I show you with screenshots that one sim is active for data while another is active for voice, there's no indication when a sim is being used besides for data but I've taken some running an LTE network scanner. It'll only show networks on the band I'm currently active on (no idea why). Searching for available networks to join I can see LTE networks that use must band 7 (I assume, since that carrier has bands 7 & 20 - and well I shouldn't pick up band 20)
Hopefully you can gleam something useful from some of these screenshots, these were taking live as it was running. Since it's just network scanning here's no actual data flow hence why you see there's no data activity in the statusbar.

@StoneTrapper How do you find and rate the UI?
I've heard there's a few who don't like it and want to switch phones because of it.
I can see 4g/3g from your screens, so I wouldn't think using 4g and taking a call over3g frequency would be an issue given the CPU in this. THe lack of Band 28 (or many other bands for that matter) is a bit concerning

I'm used to MIUI, it's not my first xiaomi phone. I don't mind it, it's not ideal but there's nothing really unlikable about it.
People will always have their own preferences with roms, sooner or later xiaomi usually release the source code and the custom roms come flooding.
Yeah one of the networks I'm with only offer 3g, otherwise it supports dual LTE. If you want additional bands they offer a global edition that supports:
B1, B2, B3,B4, B5, B7, B8, B12, B13,B17, B18, B19, B20, B25,B26, B28, B29, B30
TD-LTE: B38, B39, B40, B41
I don't need the additional bands and the CN edition is already available to I went ahead and got that.

Redmi 3s network issue

Hi guys,
I have been facing really bad network issue for redmi 3s prime.. Basically there is alot of people facing this issue.. The problem is when network drop to 2g it will not revert back to 3g or 4g.. One of the facing issue sometimes when i drop it will go to IWLAN..
The workaround tips is we use 2 sims and sacrifice our sd card..which some of us dowan to..one other tip is to open gps and open google maps and let it run on background..which will drain our battery..
Some of the user said it is kernel issue, some rom issue and some said it is hardware issue..
I hope someone here will help to sort this problem..
Thanks and best regards..
My redmi 3s network is also week
same problem here! 3s Prime international
Yeah, I'm facing also quite poor battery life due to this continuous network search / reconnecting problem. The workarounds mentioned above, using 2nd sim slot makes a difference? Don't get the tip with maps... With active GPS the reconnect 2G - 4G e.g. Works? But GPS is a known bug by (most/all) cm based roms? I really hope the official kernel source will fix it. I'm using the international version of the phone as well, with b20 lte (as long as it's connected to it )

I have tried:
- Second SIM - did not fix it, seems to work for a short period, but was down to 2G again.
- GPS - sometimes works other times no.
Issue isn't with 4G for me, only with 3G. my phone will only connect to 4G and if it drops off 4G goes straight to 2G even with full 3G reception. I have only seen it connected to 3G on the odd occasion.
Kernel source is not likely to fix it. Only fix (if software) has to be the modem firmware I think.
I had a similar problem with 3s prime purchased from India. Turns out that the network problem is caused by the lack of bands in the phone. Eg. My network runs on the 850 Mhz and 2100 Mhz but phone had 900 and 2100Mhz. so when there is a variation in the network bands I used to get call drops and no network. Even I phone used to get 2 bars in the remote area but I had no service.
There are so many versions of the phone out there. you need to be careful which one you choose. If you have network problems, my money is on the lack of bands in the hardware.
I have these right now compared to 4G: FDD LTE B1/3/7/8/20(2100/ 1800/ 2600/ 900/ 800MHz), TD-LTE B40(2300MHZ) TD-LTE 2300(band 40) FD-LTE 1800(band 3) / 850(band 5)
3G WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz UMTS 2100 / 900 MHz
2G GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz GSM 1800 / 900 MHz.
Although some models are "international version" they may not have all the bands. I cant find the links now as I already got my phone 2 weeks ago but I know for sure that I have looked at many international versions not having all the bands.

Hi guys,
I have been facing really bad network issue for redmi 3s prime..

My operator uses 900 mhz and 2100 mhz
My phone has never, ever connected to 900 mhz band
Your operator must use two bands atleast for one connection
Try to disable it, its very easy to undo the process
Feedback me with results. Regards

I disabled 2100 band instead of 900 and testing now. So far i haven't dropped to edge but lets see if it lasts.

Exactly the same in my case. I disabled the 2100 and it is working better. But also I still dont have any 4G network
I encounter the same problem ! Disabling all the LTE band and 3G band and leaving only the B20 LTE band and 2G band make the phone works properly in 4G.
(My Carrier is Bouygues Telecom in France. It uses the B3 and B20 band for the LTE)
This is really usefull as the phone was really so unstable i coulnd't use it normally to call or receive calls neither receiving or sending sms !
With this trick, at last i can use my phone.

Nokia 6 on AT&T

I have just ordered from ebay a Nokia 6 32gb, I know this is the Nokia that is released in china. Now I have set up the access point to be the AT&T although when I turned on the phone it did have them set up automatically. I have checked on both of the settings the automatic one and one I have set up, and both show the speed to be HSDPA+ or sometimes it shows 3G, is that all I can get from the phone here on AT&T or is there a setting that I can change to get 4G maybe not LTE but at least 4G.
the phone is 4g supported and you can enable disable or change options here settings-data usage then select vertical..., head over to cellular networks and if your sim supports 4g then you can use 4g

I did do that on the settings, and still I have not seen it change to the 4G. I will try to play with the settings little more when I get home from work. But thank you for the help.
LTE bands supported by Nokia 6 Chinese variant (TA-1000) are 700, 800, 850, 900, 1800, 2100, 2300,2600. So make sure if LTE band supported by your SIM falls on it.

So this is what google says:
"AT&T 4G HSPA and HSPA+ use 850Mhz(Band 5) and 1900Mhz(Band 2) bands but it all depends on area if they own a license. LTE uses Band 17(700Mhz), Band 5(850Mhz), Band 2(1900Mhz), Band 4(1700/2100Mhz) currently."
So it should be on, yet 4G dose not show up.
But I started to have one other problem with the phone, I started to eat battery like crazy about 15% an hour, and I been using the phone for 1 day, and it started to get pretty warm. Anybody else having that problem? Should I start a new thread with Nokia 6 problems and fixes?
