Update S7_97_20170410 - Elephone S7 Questions & Answers

Unlike some others on here I've had no problems with my S7 X20, 3Gb RAM, 32 Gb ROM, until this update.
The fingerprint detection has gone from 99% success to about 5%, worse the light tap/double tap has stopped working unless I enable the navigation bar and then hide it.
While that workaround fixes the light touch, around 20% of the time it stops me from swiping up to enter my PIN!
So if you haven't yet done this update I'd advise not to bother.

[INFO] Wake up from standby fix!

Well those of you like myself that were having the issues of hitting the power button only to see a black screen, here is all I did and its been working flawless for 24 hours. Turn of the screen lock! I haven't tested other screen locks yet so maybe its just the default one
If this dose not work for you please post.
Trying this myself now. It had previously happened 3 times to me with the default lock screen. If this does work, that sucks cause I really liked the lock screen... Does anyone know if either of the firmware updates addresses this particular issue? I haven't done them yet was waiting for the new root method which was just released yesterday.
maybe that's why i never had that problem... i always had a pin from day1
I am updated to the latest firmware and the issue still existed. Are you running a battery monitor widget?
turning off screen lock didn't do the trick for me
what worked for me is disable wifi before turning the screening off or go into option and change it so that it never disconnect from wifi will fix the issue for me though

Anyone having issues with phone rotation & fingerprint unlock dissappearing?!

Had the BEST VR experience to date last night using the bundled Gear VR and playing Gunjack/Lands End until phone ran out of juice...
However that experience was marred when I fired the phone back up this morning and found that all the applications have suddenly starting rotating into landscape and despite rebooting twice, I cannot change the behaviour (it was fine yesterday). Ran some sensor checks which appear to be OK. I don't even seem to have a rotation lock button available as I did on my Note 3 as a workaround.
Adding to this, I have also noticed that the fingerprint unlock feature seems to have disabled itself, even though it's still enabled in settings together with stored fingerprints. I know this is a new device, but this is pretty basic stuff that should be working... Not impressed!
Any others having similar issues?
Thanks,
G
Fixed... kinda
I since discovered that the rotate lock had become enabled and is still available on the settings icons (didn't recognise the icon in the locked portrait state). It actually did it again this morning and appears to be defaulting to this state after a cold boot - weird)...
The fingerprint issue appears to have been caused by loss of the screen timeout/instant lock with power button settings; however I hadn't changed these values, so there do seem to be some software glitches that need ironing out...

fingerprint unlock requires extra 'touch'

When you wake your N6P with fingerprint, is your phone ON and ready, or does it require one more touch on the screen before it is actually working? Mine is the latter...fingerprint (or pin code) to unlock, phone wakes and shows home screen, touch icon (or anywhere on screen) once, then touch icon again before it works
I only noticed this yesterday, but have only had my phone for 5 days...i am using stock rooted - it may have been happening all along or it may have happened after I installed Xposed and Gravity Box and messed with the Navigation Bar Tweaks, or after I enabled SRGB, or after I installed a custom launcher (Apex)...I have tried to undo every setting I might have messed with, but nothing is preventing the extra touch required
it's difficult to google a solution because if I include the word 'unlock' the results are all about the bootloader
anyone else?
OH FFS!&&*%&^$%)*^(^)*&^&
i had enabled "unlock animations" in Beautiful Widgets...it wasn't showing anything, it was just stopping my phone from being usable for 3 seconds [idiot!]

8.1 screen unlock delay

Hi there, so I updated my ph-1 to the latest Oreo 8.1 earlier this morning and have been experiencing significant delays when unlocking my screen. Sometimes the phone did not respond at all and the screen just stayed black. I had to restart the phone in such cases. Help! I seem to be the only essential phone user in entire Sydney
If you're using immersive mode, that might be the issue. Try disabling that, and see if the issue persists.
I'm experiencing the same. Setting immersive mode to None does help a bit, but it's still not as snappy as before.
And after all the same settings worked perfectly on the 8.1 beta.
Tried to go back, but on official 8.1 the recovery mode only says "no command"....
I am experiencing the same issue too. It doesn't have the delay problem right after reboot, it seems like it delays the unlocking when the phone has been in idle for a while.
And specialty if you use immersive mode with sytem UI make it very long delay

Same issue here. Sometimes takes so long to unlock that I am unable to answer a phone call that comes in before it goes to Voicemail. Usually happens when the phone has been idle for a while.
Update:
Did the dreaded FDR (factory data reset). Installed the "Tiles" app from plasystore and ran the noted adb command to allow immersive mode, tile display, and enable write secure settings permissions. I chose the action to hide the navigation bar within the Tiles app. I ignored the setting to stop on sleep so the app keeps running when the phone screen goes off. In testing it for about an hour the phone seems to unlock without any issue for now and without any delay. I also made phone calls while the phone screen was off and I was able to answer the call easily. So far so good using the Tiles app!
sounds like the expanded desktop Oreo issue. There's a Xposed module DeepScreen Oreo for it.

Several problems without any fix/workaround

Hello!
I have my phone, 2 months, right now and compared with my previous G4, I like it(except the camera)
Now, I have:
- unlocked the bootloader
- rooted it with magisk (Super SU was loosing root from time to time)
- installed xposed
- use gravity box and systemui tuner for other tweaking
- Elemental X kernel 2.03
-build number 25.137-92, Android 7.0
Per general, it works very well, but still have some problems.
I have searched fixes for all of them, but I am writing here, maybe other have found a way to solve it, or they have a workaround.
1. random reboots. I do not know why, it seems they are not related to an application or something
2. if call is longer than several minutes. after I end call, the screen remains black. Probably an error for the ambient light sensor. is there a fix for this?
3. increasing ringtone. Can this be disabled somehow?
4. Very weak signal. And the biggest battery drain is related to the signal. Right now I have one day of usage, but I know that I would get more. Also, I had to move the SIM card from slot 1 to slot 2, because the signal suddenly disappeared
5. Reboot loop, when I activate GPS, and I search on Maps, and when I start navigation
6. WiFi not connecting automatically. I have to press quick tile, ant let it open until it connects to my WiFi
7. At some point the signal for SIM1 dissapeared. I had to switch to SIM2
8. In call volume was low. Every time I had to make it louder
I would like to remain to stock, because custom ROMs, have lower quality camera, and also heard that Moto application don't work on them (I use the fingerprint sensor for navigation and the option to turn on the screen when I take the phone in my hand)
