[Q] Volume sliders in P10 Plus - Huawei P10 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi All,
I'm planning to buy a P10 plus, this will be my first Huawei device coming from Samsung (Galaxy Note 4). I've heard that Huawei's EMUI doesn't have seperate volume sliders for Ringtone, Media, Notifications and System? Is that correct? I also heard that Ringtone and Notification volumes are linked which really sucks for me. Can somebody clarify this volume issue for me?
Thanks.

Nevermind, I just read the threads about Huawei cheating in some P10 and P10+ hardware components and cancelled the idea of buying it, unless there is no issues with the International version.

Thanks for the reply and the images @AllTheWay
As for the volume sliders..I see there is no notifications slider which is what I don't like...damn it...this means that ringtones and notifications volumes are linked

That's is correct. It doesn't have the individual slider for that. Never really noticed that on the Samsung devices but I guess you are correct.

While it's a pain in the @ss, you could always modify the source file's volume in a basic mp3 editor on your PC (or phone) when saving your custom ringtones and notification tones. If the 2 are linked and the separate slider is missing, then that should serve your purpose.

Missing Features in Windows 8 phone

Some the basic features missing in windows 8 os for phones which are as follows
1. No option to view your sd card files ( this is a big let back)
2. In dial pad you cant get the number directly by just typing in the name in dial pad itself (though you can download app for this but it is expected to be a default thing)
3. If you are an ebook savvy person then my friend you will have to put your all ebooks to skydrive because none of the apps available will read from your sd card.
4. In wifi settings you dont have the advance settings to have your own static ip.
5. No control over the gps, will keep draining your battery
6. Only one kind of screen lock facility available( password) more options are expected
though the phone I use(LUMIA 820) is great , but these are some basic stuff which sometimes makes me think have I made the right choice about the phone.
NOTE---> I know I am being harsh as w8 is still new and I might not be correct of few of the things which already might have been resolved . Please keep updating this thread If you face any kind of similar problem.
5. No control over the gps, will keep draining your battery Can't u turn Location OFF? I can in my Lumia920...
What I would implement is the ability to change colors of every tile independently of another. Then, there could be an option if there is a missed call, unread message etc. that the tiles change color.
One of the features I miss really badly from my iPhone is the custom notification and messages sounds, and the ability to insert a specific message tone for a specific sender. That way I knew just by the sounds what is happening, and is it something urgent.

the message tile wouldnt change colour but it does some behaviour like , if u have a new message your message icon will be a wink......if you have more unread messages then it will be sad...
and about "the ability to insert message tone for specific sender" you are talking about message tone only or the ringtone??

I havent seen those faces u r talking about, just the plane number. Pretty satisfied with that too, but I always want more.
I meant a specific message tone for different senders, like I had on the iPhone.

yea i checked it out , their is only ringtone option for a specific contact nothing for messages.......
Well, I do know what I am talking about.
And that is one hell of a feature I am missing in WP8.
Now, another thing that annoys me, is there any possible way to turn off Skype? Because, when I am on my computer, and chatting with some1, the phone keeps popping up notifications about new Skype messages. Also, I had a call earlier today thru Skype, and in the middle of the talk, the phone started ringing (that particular Skype call), and the call was already established.
Notification centre like iphone, a do not disturb mode, stopwatch and timer in the clock app, T9 dialling, HDR and panorama modes in camera app, reliable push notifications, option to auto download images in email app (how hard can it be?), DAV support, folder tiles ....

That's a pretty big missing feature, not being able to play WAV files.
My Main gripe? Haptics.
Seriously, I don't know if someone's got the patent on this (google? Motorola?) but my biggest peeve is that the input methods only have audio feedback. Now don't get me wrong, the sfx used for the keyboard does an amazing job of making the keyboard seem physical, but as of now it's really the only thing I want. And how do you turn off sounds for the dialpad?

You can't customize notifications as well. This missing feature is killing me I have my pager forward to my phone and the stock notifications suck! Yes some people still have pagers.

I used to think this was a huge issue. Pin favorites to your start. Use the people tile and voice dial. While I too expect it to be built in, using a third party app actually is as simple as usin gthe dialpad, it may be one or two touches fewer.

I don't understand this. Maybe I am too into WP7 and forgetful of how I used to use an SD card as easy, multi device storage. If your 820 treats the SD as expanded storage, than the ebook app you use to download the ebook will store it where it wants.

I would agree with you from your point of view. From my point of view, you just need to adapt a bit to the new system and you should have bought the 920 because QI charging is the freaking bomb!
Not sure how my tone appears, not trying to be a ****!

k dude how to setup that reservation thingy and 820 also has QI charging......differences b/w 820/920 are camera, screen resolution/size, internal storage, gorilla screen, rest Is mostly same
The only thing I really miss is separate volume controls for media, games etc.
W8 on Lumia 920 is really great.
There are a couple of features i miss a lot :
- No access to images details (localization, image size, shutter speed etc...)
- On Android I used to set a long duration ring-tone for appointments, otherwise I forget to check my appointments. No access her to those settings.
But I repeat, W8 phones are fantastic. On many points of view much more practical than Android

As for opening ePub files from the SD card: that is up to the App developers. WP8 does allow Apps to read files from the SD card. It's not allowing them to write there though.

[Q] link volumes together

Hello,
just asking whether or not there is a way for linking ringtone and/or Notification and/or System Volumes together, since it's really annoying having to set these 3 each time...

you could try ultimate sound control on google play
just as I thought it needs root, but no problem since Kingo...
but also not the thing I want. I heard that Google unified Ringtone and notify volumes and I want this too and MAYBE go a step further by putting System volume ion this unity too...

[Q] S4 Stock Notification sound files

Hi,
I recently got a new phone (the LG G3). I had the S4 before though and I liked the notification sounds that were on it better. I would like to have them on my LG G3. I did some searching but I couldn't find a working download of the files. I really don't know anything about rooting, custom roms, etc. If anyone could point me in the right direction of a simple download that I can easily put on my LG G3 I would appreciate it. Thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2209663
The only issue you may encounter is if the sounds at the link above are in Samsung's proprietary .QMG format. Ideally they should be in .OGG (Ogg Vorbis) format, though .MP3 is also a possibility.
Aren't they convertable?
Probably not, except via the analog hole.

Question about weird results with "setup nearby device" Nexus 6p setup from 5x

Question about weird results with "setup nearby device" Nexus 6p setup from 5x
Any help here is appreciated. I just got my 6p today. I've been tooling around on a 5x for about 3 weeks now, and had it set up the way I like, so I figure why not use the "set up nearby device" option to port over all my apps/settings, etc? Well I did that...and one thing I noticed immediately is that it appears to have overwritten whatever stock ringtone/notification sounds Huawei may have loaded. My ringtone on the 6p was set to the ringtone from my 5x....an LG ringtone. I know Huawei and LG have different stock ringtones, but I cannot seem to find the Huawei tones anywhere. I've checked Media/Audio/Ringtones and/notifications and those folders are empty. My only choices are apparently LG ringtones on a 6p that has only been awake for minutes. An apparent loss of ringtones is no major tragedy, and yes, I know there are about heptamegazillion tones out there for free, but that isn't the point. This seems abnormal to me, and has me worried what other system files may have been overwritten. Has anyone else experienced this or know what the implications for other system files are? How (if at all) do I recover the Huawei tones? I would've at least liked to hear them before deciding that they should all be eliminated.
i think google uses the same ringtones on both phones, and their setup backup service just carried over your individual lg ringtone that you were actively using. someone correct me if im wrong

Interesting theory, and one that I hadn't even considered! It is certainly possible, but I assumed otherwise because I know other LG phones have at least some of these ringtones and Huawei phones tend to have a set of their own recurring (different) tones. Your theory would put my mind much at ease, if true. So can you confirm that your 6p stock tones include a bunch of astral body names, like Dione, Ganymede, Phobos, etc?
Confirmed.
Nexus always have built in ringtones, notifications and wallpapers based on the latest android release.

Changes in Android O - with screenshots

I got the Android O for my Samsung Galaxy tab S3 here in india. Update size is around 1123 MB.
New features are
1. Experience 9
2. Doldy Atmos enhancements
3. New options to play sound of a particular app on a particular device. Ex : if u have connected a Bluetooth speaker, now u have the ability to select only YouTube audio to be played on Bluetooth speaker.
4. Live messages
5. New notification icons and app icons( I guess part of experience 9 home)
6. Multiple clock faces and colours for clock in lock screen.
That's the S9/S9+ wallpaper. Is that on the device after Oreo or did you put it on your tablet? And if it comes with Oreo is it live like on the S series?
Are there themes? I really really want to have black theme all over instead of blinding white
Well this is my experience:
-Changes mentioned by kmdshoyaib in op
-No themes of course (and i wasn't expecting that)
-The overall experience is smoother than nougat but I have to say many lags and delays specially in samsumg keyboard, and third party apps menus are still there (I did a clean install and factory reset)
-I feel a better response time to S-pen (maybe a placebo effect)
-Other things including batter life needs more time!

Live messages is now available on Tab S3 oreo.
Other than that, I feel the tablet way more responsive now. Reacts faster when playing around with different apps.
Samsung Pass now requries secure screen lock to work with autofill of usernames and passwords. Fingerprint is still a must with Samsung Pass, but in addtion a screen lock also is needed.

I got it yest night in India too. agree with all the above comments, but disappointed by 1 thing; no change in the SNote/Samsung Notes fiasco
The Dolby Atmos is awesome. I played a song in the dead of the night and, mighty impressed with the improvement. The output from the speakers also had improved. Good thing the AKG speakers have been used and getting a good workout!
Greetings from India, received Oreo update today, and now tab s3 supports VOLTE. Jio VOLTE calls are working now.
And battery life is better?

Greetings from China...
The s pen translate app also got an update and now it works just like galaxy note 8.
It can translate from Chinese and Japanese now. It can also translate sentences and currency.
My tablet is currently in for repair so have not had a chance to look at the update personally only watched some videos on YouTube about it I was wondering if anyone could have a look and find out if there's a way to change the resolution to save power yet as I do a lot of typing and office work on my tablet and I was looking for a way to down the resolution to 720 p to save a ton of power and was wondering if this has been added with the Oreo update.
Maybe it's because I am a brand new Tab S3 user and updated almost immediately. But all the apps in Play Store that I already paid for are showing up as unpaid. Here is my post about it. Help is appreciated!
Battery life has been fine for me since I got the update yesterday.

Updated last night. The process was easy and error free. The changes are really minor, not anything to write home about. In any case, as Android matures, I would not expect substantial changes from one version to a newer one.

Try to login on a pc to your google account to validate the issue.
On your tab, try to wipe cache, following this steps:
1. Turn off your tab.
2. After that press and hold the Volume Up + Home + Power button for a couple of seconds.
3. Now you should be in the expected mode.
4. You can navigate here by using Volume buttons and select options "wipe cache" by using the Power key.
If this solve your issue donĀ“t forget leave feedback to help other mates.
