[Q] S4 Stock Notification sound files - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I recently got a new phone (the LG G3). I had the S4 before though and I liked the notification sounds that were on it better. I would like to have them on my LG G3. I did some searching but I couldn't find a working download of the files. I really don't know anything about rooting, custom roms, etc. If anyone could point me in the right direction of a simple download that I can easily put on my LG G3 I would appreciate it. Thanks

The only issue you may encounter is if the sounds at the link above are in Samsung's proprietary .QMG format. Ideally they should be in .OGG (Ogg Vorbis) format, though .MP3 is also a possibility.

Aren't they convertable?

Probably not, except via the analog hole.

The link for the downloads in that thread doesn't work

Ecstatic about my Galaxy S after 1 week - having returned my iPhone 4

Hello all, I posted this on another site, but thought I should post it here too as I have overcome some of the teething problems I had when posting here previously, and am REALLY happy with this phone.
Ive flashed with Pauls Modaco ROM, and replaced the TouchWiz with LaunchPro, and am VERY happy with the speed and overall performance.
I did have a bit of a lag and a bit of a wifi connection issue, but flashed the rom again and the wifi problem disappeared, the lag went with TouchWiz.
GPS has been fine, Navigation great, so has voice searching, playback of my Divx Xvid WMV videos and Flac Ape WMA etc audio files... been loving just dragging and dropping my movies and music to the EXT SD disk, just lovely to NOT have iTunes try to control your life!!
Yahoo and Gmail push are fantastic and incredibly fast (for yahoo you MUST use the Yahoo Mail app which gives you IMAP on Yahoo!!! (yesssssss!!!!) with all its folders etc.
Recording 720p videos has been really amazing, smooth 30fps with no dropped frames, and the audio was surprisingly good too. No flash for stills, but the cam shoots well in low light and you can bluetooth share the photos with your friends too.
ABSOLUTELY bloody delighted I am, by far the best phone I have ever used, thank god I saw the light and returned my iPhone 4, though its really a very good phone, just not as good as this, with the openness, speed, flexibility and widgets!
Thanks for the community and support here,
Mark, UK.
Yes with the newer firmwares gps and lag no longer an issue, and i think launcher pro is a must for this phone.I just love the customisation possibilites with android, you really can make your phone unique and your own.
As for the hd video recording i was playing a few back through the ps3 last night and really was shocked by the clairity of them (being realistic and considering its a phone)
Mark, great testimony.
I'm just about going to eBay off my SGS and get an iPhone 4 mainly because of the serious lags and GPS faults. I'm still very keen to try out Froyo 2.2 but perhaps on a device that has better performance and GPS. As it is now I have not been able to realise some of the key reason why I came to Android - i.e., to watch flash videos and to have browsers that some reports claim is as much as 3 times faster than iPhone's. (I know, I know, I should have known that it is still running 2.1. The Optus shop assistant assured me that she had personally installed 2.2 onto SGS, and I was naive enough to take her word for it before buying)
I like to get to exactly where you are now. Would you mind giving us the links to your firmware please?

Hi Steve, no probs, but I am running 2.1 still!
From experience on ROMS for Hero and then my WinMo Touch HD before that, the best roms are based on manufacturer's release versions. I dont have any GPS problems, certainly no more than any other phone Ive had, and even my expensive, in-car Garmin gps-specific device still takes a while to get satellites sometimes! I have successfully used my phone twice so far to enter an address and do turn by turn navigation.
For my ROM, I paid a bit to Modaco last year, so that still entitles me to free downloads of their roms, the link is
http://android.modaco.com/content/s...rom-for-samsung-galaxy-s-with-online-kitchen/
You DO have to flash first to one ROM then to another, as Paul says in the instructions. For rooting, I think there are some easy instructions on this xda forum.
For the Launcher Pro, Id just search the market.
I have nothing against the iPhone (other than the design flaw and slimeball steve jobs smoke and mirrors) my wife has a 3gs with iOS4, it runs well as a phone, but IMO it is really for people who want a phone with apps that are useful to them... nothing wrong with that! For someone who wants to be closer to the cutting edge, nothing beats android. Personally, as a bit of a geek myself, I love to have a phone that works AND have an exciting phone. No other phone on the market offers ALL of what the SGS does... not even the Evo.
Mark.
ps, the Evo does have 4g but no divx xvid ape flac

Hey Mark,
I've just downloaded JG1. However, since this is my first Android phone, I have no idea what to do with it. Currently I'm having a rooted JF3 firmware. Would you mind just in a few points tell me how to install JG1 since the Modaco link assumes that it's already done?
BTW, the way I unrooted was to download an update.zip file into \sdcard, then press volume, power and home, select the update.zip item, and that's it. Is the procedure for installing JG1 similar? Do I need to rename JG1.zip as update.zip?
Thanks a million, and I look forward to sharing your joy in using this phone.

Sounds very easy. Thanks for your great help. I assume to move to the custom ROM in modaco, I do exactly the same thing again?
I'm having problem. This is what I did:
- I copied JG1.zip into sdcard, and rename it Update.
- Turn off the phone
- Press volume up+power+home until I see the Samsung logo, then let go.
- Use the volume key to go down to apply sdcard: update.zip, press home.
Here, I have these messages displayed:
#MANUAL MODE#
--Apply Muti-CSC...
Installing Muti-CSC
--Install from sdcrd...
Finding update package
Opening update package
Installing update
Installationg aborted.
What did I do wrong?

I don't think you're supposed to flash JG1 as an update.zip? I was under the impression that update.zip is for rooting/unrooting and custom ROMs, and not for official firmware...
You need to flash it with Odin if the update.zip method isn't working!
I can't post links since I'm a new, unverified member (grrrrr...) but go to the Galaxy S Android Development forum here at XDA, there's a {BIG FAQ Thread} {Flash/Root HOWTO}, read post #2 in that thread!

I'm not sure what's in the JG1.zip file.
What I have done is exactly what post #2 says. I don't see any step that I did being different from what it says I should do.
Still no luck with JG1 Installation. Anyone knows what the problem is?
You need to flash rom via Odin here is download link for Odin and PIT:
https://www.wuala.com/Samsung Galax...din/Odin & Bootloader(.PIT)/?key=AfzUZSU4SpKU
Download relevant firmware, in this instance JG1 which you will find at the following(you need to register first):
http://samsung-firmware.webs.com/WEBPROTECT-samsungi9000.htm
Also there you will find at the bottom flash guide in PDF. Download that and follow the instructions.
Once you have flashed firmware then you can flash custom rom.

Have you succesfully installed drivers on your pc?
I know I can use the Odin method via PC to flash the ROM, but I had chosen method B procedure B described in this post to flash instead:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7152078&postcount=2
I want to know why it was not working. Or is the post wrong in saying that you can use method B procedure B?

Can somebody do me a favor?

I looked around the forum briefly, but I didn't find anything.
I'm currently on CM7 and I really don't care for the system sounds too much. Can someone running a sense Rom grab some files for me? I think you could just copy/paste them to the sd using astro. I'd like the alarm "snooze" (I sleep through cm7s buzzer sound ),the notification sound "major" (sounds like the super Mario 1up shroom), and there's a ringtone that sounds like a digital phone. I can't think of the name, but it's not the old school sounding ring.
Any help would be appreciated.

Download one of the several Sense ROMs on this site, then open the zip file, and go into the media folder and take all the sound files you want.

Duh, I should have known that. It's been a very, very long day...
I still have zips for stock and liberated Roms, will have to dig them out tomorrow.
Thanks!

[Q] CM 11 change cursor icon

Hello people, I have now completely moved to CM11 on the Note 3 and I'm not looking back. It's brilliant. There are issues like battery life and audio and so on but I expect these issues to be sorted out in the next few weeks. Anyways the thing that grinds my gears the most about CM11 on the N3 is the hovering cursor. I want a visual indicator of where the stylus is, and on the Samsung ROMs it's perfect, however on CM the big black cursor does not look that great. I was wondering if someone with greater knowledge than me could help with this.
cm-11-20140126-NIGHTLY-hltexx\system\framework\framework-res\res\drawable-xxhdpi
'framework-res' is an apk file, that I extracted with 7zip
My idea is to extract the APK file above, and just replace the cursor icon with something smaller or more like the one on Samsung ROMS, then 'remake' (dunno if you compile/compress it) it into a apk, flash this to the device. Would this work or not?
I have attached the two /png images found in the folder above, which I pulled out of the latest CM11 nightly. The basic idea is to replace the cursor with the other icon.
If this is not possible, is there another way to do it? Xposed modules are able to replace battery icons and all sorts of other things. Can the cursor be replaced that way?
Same here

Gboard keyboard sounds change

Has anyone noticed Gboard only has one sound for all keys vs different for backspace enter ECT, I cannot for the life to me change the sound, more specifically I'm trying to change to the pixel keyboard sounds without any luck. I've tried replacing system UI ogg with pixel ones but it doesn't change, I have root, any input is appreciated thanks
I just tested this quickly on my brother's S7 Edge on Google Keyboard (I don't know which version exactly except that it's 5.x as he hasn't updated to 6.x yet) I did notice that the default "Keypress" sounds from his system/media were different from what Google Keyboard was producing, but I was short on time, so that's all I could test. I also quickly skimmed through the APK, but I didn't come across any sound files in there, though I absolutely could have missed it because I really didn't have much time. I would love to look into this tomorrow if you haven't figured it out yet, I can't tonight much because I won't have access to his S7.
If it interests you at all, on my Nexus 6P, I have v6.0.79 of Gboard, and it is directly linked to my KeypressStandard, KeypressReturn etc. ogg's in my system/media and I am able to replace them similar to any other stock keyboard app I have used, but I'm interested to look into this on the S7 tomorrow as long as I get the chance.

Any way to merge LG v20 second screen on Oreo?

Hi, like the title suggested, I am looking for a way to merge LG v20 second screen with the main one, preferably with an option to switch between the two modes at will.
I know that there is one Rom that allows you to merge the screen in the past but it doesn't get ported to Oreo from my understanding. For now, I am thinking about something like using an app to increase the monitor resolution to be bigger and hopefully push the second screen off the main panel (not sure if that's possible) or may be porting LG V40 or V30 Rom if that's possible and use their widget in place of the second screen. I am just looking for an idea at this moment, so if you have any please give me a suggestion.
I have a Korean model that already received the latest security update so I can't probably root it though.

This.
If the second-screen behaved as OP described on the stock ROM, well, the phone wouldn't really HAVE a second screen.
I did it before... but unfortunately i don't have the moded files anymore.
If you interested I can provide a quick guide to fully disable the second screen, and extend the op screen by moding a couple framework files and LGSystemUI.
I would like to try it out. Can you post your instructions? Thank you in advance
