Confirmed to be working on build ending in ACQ9 for tmo variant.
just checked for updates and there aren't any

Bixby remapped successfully to google on Sprint - fully up to date phone- received today- did not notice any updates when scanned for- if it did it updated silently.

Bixby remap wolrks on Big Red!

Working on AT&T as well.

Just got a software update on my S8+ for TMO and it did in fact kill the Bixby button remapping.

Just got my GS8+ on Verizon, remapping worked like a pro.
Not sure the button remap is worth disabling Samsung updates this early, though.

Second that T-Mobile update killed the Bixbyremap remapping

Go to this thread for a app called BixBye for optional remapping or Playstore! You can make the button open apps and other options! I use it for flashlight

Got this app last night, I was so excited cause I'd heard it couldn't be remapped anymore so I was kind of resigned to the fact that the button would be totally useless.

So if I understand right, I can install the 'T-Mobile update service' that I've been avoiding do so that I don't lose the bixby remap now?
Is it worth installing the update?

Yeah I'd recommend updating. I'm on the latest and BixBye still works. Course I always keep my phones updated as much as possible, even when the updates don't provide noticeable things, they usually do a lot under the hood. Plus it's always good to get security updates.

It's June, is this still working?

BixBye works for a day for me then stops working.

Back Button Kill App

Hi people
Without Xposed which does not support M at the moment, is there a way to add long press back button to kill app?
AFAIK not until custom ROMs implement it or exposed is updated for marshmallow. Just going to have to wait it out a little while for certain features until devs get properly stuck in to angler
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Thought that would be the answer. ha ha
Hope Slim comes to Angler.

Nope I want long press back button to kill current app. That won't do that.

Nougat Device Maintenance on Verizon?

Did Verizon take out the damn device maintenance? If so, why the hell do they do this crap. Come on Verizon. Stop taking features that are supposed to be built into our phones away and putting in junk.

I have never used quick shortcut maker. Wouldn't you have to be able to access the app by a search for that to work? Where do I find quick shortcut maker?

The options are in the setting menu already, however the ultra usefull app that let you just hit Optimize Now is gone. I had a shortcut already on my homescreen and it just says app not installed when I try to launch.
It's a ****ing shame that VZW decided to pull that out. One of the most useful tools on the device.

Why would it be called "torch"? That's what british people call it. Here in the US, they're called "flashlights". And on a phone, it should always be called flashlight, because you're literally using the camera's flash as a light.
that isn't the only omission, the mark as read and quick reply buttons from the message notification are gone also.
Settings>Three Dots (top right beside search)>View Simplified List>Device Maintenance
this works thank you, damn verizon just hide it, but it doesnt let you clear your ram or add to home screen or stop the programs.

My wife and I got our phones last night, and during the all the updates we got the Bixby surprise. Fortunately I have the Samsung Package Disabler Pro and disabled Bixby.
Having a dead button is worth it, to be rid of the hideous Bixby.

It is pretty easy. After it loads, you just pick which apps you want to disable. I found in another thread some of the Bixby related apps (courtesy of Syn Ack) you want to keep running in case you want to use one of the many "Bixby key re-mappers"

Remapping Bixby button on European unbranded device version

Can someone how already purchased Galaxy S8 unbranded version within Europe can tell us if it is possible to remapping Bixby button with the below app even with the latest software upgrade from Samsung that rolling out these days gradually to all across Europe.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950F/
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton&hl=en
I know that in US and carrier version Samsung has already disable that functionality but don't know what about rest of the world and especially European unbranded device.
Thanks.

I am using an unbranded S8+ and this app works - sometimes a bit slow as it scans for the button press, but it does work https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dave.bennett.bixremap&hl=en

Thanks but I would like more customizable option than simple enable Google Now instead of Bixby.
Like opening any other app or functionality for example taking screenshot or opening dolphin browser.

With bxActions you can remap your Bixby button to any action or app you like!
Use the Bixby button launch you camera, open google, toggle recent apps or launch any app you like!
Available on the Play store. No root required.

Remapping Bixby causing stutter

I've tried three options to remap Bixby button (All in one gestures, Bxbutton, Button mapper) and all of them caused stuttering while scrolling through menus, websites, app drawer.... It makes me think that maybe this is the reason why Samsung have had disabled it.
bxActions = no stutter :victory:
Works after updating also but it can only remap single press.
Enabling any accessibility service will cause scrolling stutter on Samsung phones running Nougat. It's a Samsung bug.

Something is not 100% correct, but this is the case even with native bixby. Samsung has screwed up the button functionality with the new update. It is slow regardless of how you are setup.
Otherwise, bxactions as of now seems to work every time after first launch on a single button press.
