Amazfit pace altitude problem - Other SmartWatches

When i check in compass altitude it is always around 300m even though i went in the mountains at approximately 1600m above sea level. It seems that altitude measurements does not work correctly. The same is with trail run. it does show correct elevation gain and loss. but just wrong altitude. i started at 1200m above sea level. it shows that I start at 350 m ?? Does anyone notice same issue?

Yes me too.
But if you wait 45s/1 min before start running when the watch is GPS ready, altitude is correct.

Here is ss of my watch. Using Bike exercise. I'm on the sea level, and watch is showing minus 43 meter.

if you tap on compass it does show air pressure. Average sea-level pressure is 1013.25 mbar. you can check there. But i don't know if altitude is then calculated based on air pressure or gps coordinates. it would be nice if it was on air pressure. but i don't see possibility to calibrate watch. I hope someone else know i bit more.

Nice.

Following the latest update 1.3.4f, I started having height measurement issues.
Up until this update all was really accurate and fine.
Any idea for recovery?
i do wait for GPS fix before starting my bike ride.

Today in a bike ride that everyone had with ~1600m accumulated, I had more than 2150m...

Well I got my Amazfit Pace today , updated to 1.3.6d, but after I just went to the cellar and climbed back the two floors to our flat, the Pace said I climbed 13 floors.
After like one hour at the desk it were 18 floors and after walking 1,5km without any hills to climb, the watch shows me I climbed 50 floors.
Is that a known issue like this one addressed here or is the barometric sensor not working properly?
I have had a few Samsung Gear Fit 2 which had similar issues with the barometric sensor.

strange right? i then unplugged the charger and put it back in, it was back to normal..
but heres the temps... temps are legit, the phone was cool to the touch (and i know what warm is! )
...
I've had this issue too. The other day my phone was at 52degrees whilst charging.
Someone suggested the cases may be to blame. I use a gel skin but have sent for the official case.

yeah, but the temperatures are cooler than normal? :S, it NEVER hits below 29.0C ...
Today is a hot day, and my phone is at 32 degrees whatsapping online for 20 minutes. But playing games it jumps to 40-45, really painful to receive a call after that. I hope they can lower the CPU speed when it gets hot, that way it won't create as much heat or something. I don't know.
I am having this same issue on my Galaxy Tab

Painful as in burning your ears or any other issues we should be aware of ? We should issue a warning: "Don't play games when you expect a call" or get yourself a personalized voicemail message: Hi, i'm playing games on my phone right now and my battery temp is >50C, there's no way in hell i will reply to any call
argh, i gotten this popup too when i tried to charge my phone. wasn't doing anything with the phone!
@OP Sorry, out of topic question. What is the widget that monitor your cpu speed+ temperature?
Setcpu I believe.

GPS lock on the plane

I managed to get a GPS Lock while on the plane (Boeing 777-200) at 6000m altitude going at 900km/h ground speed. I thought consumer GPS was not supposed to work at these speeds?

hahaha though you are asked to put the phone in airplane mode
Though what is the name of that app ??
My phone was in airplane mode. GPS works - it is an antenna (receiver) only and does not transmit any data. That's GPS Test app.
I used to do that with my previous phones (nokia N95 8GB and Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V) and they both worked fine.
I was traing last year that also but I had a Galaxy S. No fix was possible with that phone. The trip was 45min, plane landed and i could get a GPS fix in 46min.

oh, that wasn't meant to be so serious. it's rather interesting.
Probably its some bad readings, I read somewhere that GPS wont lock if you travel at a speed superior to 300+ Km/h
I did the same about an year back. Will post the screenshot, it's there somewhere on my laptop.
LOL interesting
Actually one or two people using their phones on a plane doesn't interrupt any radio data of the plane or something like that, but if everybody would use their phone, well that would generate problems. Also I'll attach a pic of sport tracker when I was skiing last week, unluckily it's in finnish but maybe you'll get something from it. For exsample top speed of 1102 km/h xD. Yeah Aparently sport tracker doesn't work very well with cm10.1. Btw sorry for off-topic
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
AFAIK your GPS will stop reporting at 1000km/h+, so 900 is normal.
How did you manage to get lock all the time?
I've been recently travelling from Eindhoven by Airbus A320. I managed to get fix but it stopped to receive correct data after 15 min of flight.
When I was in return to Eindhoven again I could get lock only for ~15 min too.
I used GPS status - after while it seemed app froze (same as others GPS apps) and I could get GPS data only for a few seconds few hundred kilometers futher.
After I exited the plane I could get immanent fix.
What can be wrong?

G3 has Barometer sensor!

Found this thread on Reddit
http://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/2jmund/lg_g3_has_barometer_sensor/
Everywhere I read, I don't see any site listed LG G3 with barometer build in except a few comments in XDA stated it does have it. So I downloaded a Barometer app and sure it does display it! I have the D855 rooted w V10L.
To check for the reading if it's getting info from GPS location based data or using a real barometer sensor (found the info from another site somewhere):
Put the G3 in a large Ziploc bag sealed with the Barometer app running and presses on the bag to see if the sensor moves then it's a real sensor not GPS. And yes the sensor moves with the increasing pressure in the bag.
Okay, to make the test more convincing, I also have a brand new Sony Z3 Compact which has barometer listed in the spec and did the same thing in the bag along side the G3 and it's showing the same reading as I press on the bag.
So, unless I am not doing it right, I think LG or someone else never disclosed the barometer sensor being build-in in the spec sheet. Now this makes the G3 even cooler than it was before.
This is an easy test. Give it a try. Unless like the FM radio which is disabled for US version but not international version, maybe it is included in the D850 and D851? What is your take on this?

Barometer app seems to work! Very cool.
Now why would they put a barometer in and not mention it.
Now that the G3 has been found to have a pressure sensor this could be used also for an altimeter app...
Working, nice finding ...not sure what is it good for except of internal cooperation with GPS to faster calculate location.
Btw, nice application also with widget - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.redTools.osb. Is has ability to correct measured pressure by actual altitude.

Unboxed: Redmi Note 2

2nd day of using it.
Awesome phone, I love it much more than my LG G4.
I had Redmi 1 before, but I hope someone will build Cyangenomod for this. can't wait.

Hey ! Could you write some information about music and camera quality and also what about gps fix ? Thank You
I would love some info about the GPS as well. How quick and precise it is, specially in airplane mode (or GPS only mode).
Pretty nice . What about gaming? No lags?

I read that on gizchina the gps fixing is fast, but the signal wasn't too accurate sometimes on a trip (prob. by car I guess)..
A gps test in a town between taller buildings would be nice.
Have you found any issues yet?
****. That's important for me. A few meters wrong on a trip or worse than that?
If you hold the phone and SHAKE IT left and right, you can feel the battery juggling around!!!
What happened to Xiaomi QA? lol

Anybody else with similar problem?
I really have no idea how the battery could be jiggling around. Not on my device. There are no gaps internally.
If you open the back cover, battery is the only moving part
it does move left and right a bit, no joke, I take things apart and put them back together, same thing.
fingers on left and right edge of the phone (near the bottom) and shake it left and right, you could hear it. I guess it happens to all removable battery phones.

Honor 8 attempts for Guinness Record

A Smartphone attached to a balloon took to the skies on September-5 in an attempt to set a record for the highest live stream from such a device.
That smartphone is nothing but our Huawei Honor 8. The phone was attached to a weather balloon also carrying a camera and other equipment, and set off from the SSC Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden. The balloon was expected to burst at an altitude of 30,000 metres (98,425 ft) with the device then making its way back to down by parachute.
Peter Lundkvist of Huawei Technologies Sweden said the balloon reached 18,421 metres before bursting.
The basic concept was that no one has ever recorded a live stream from that height and thus, the Huawei Honor 8 would be different. There was also a phone charger (to constantly charge the Huawei Honor 8), a GoPro camera and equipment to regulate the temperature and keep the battery safe sent 30kms into the air. The Huawei Honor 8 was attached with a parachute which would help it land. There was a geographic fence created to cut the balloon with a pyrotechnic cutter if the phone came too close to the ground or if there was any issue with the experiment. The balloon was expected to land after 2 and half hours post which it would be tracked by GPS and picked up by a helicopter.
The only real challenge was the maintaining of constant temperature as the temperatures 30kms above could reach -50 degrees and cuase the phone batteries to burst. Thus, the entire operation was carried out using batteries which were space certified and designed for use in vacuum. The batteries used are generally used on SSCs rocket and balloon missions. Though the balloon was expected to reach a height of 30,000 meters, it burst at 18,421 metres. However, it is still the first time that a live-streaming event has been captured using a phone at this altitude and thus, Huawei folks are confident that the Guinness World Records will consider it as a feat.
Peter Lundkvist, marketing manager for Huawei Device Sweden said, “We wanted to do something extraordinary when launching Honor 8. So why not be the ones to do the highest smartphone livestream ever? Honor as a brand stands for braveness and authenticity. What represents these two elements better than a journey towards space?
Hopefully, Guinness (World Records) will accept this as a world record in highest smartphone live streaming.
