My screen auto shuts off if I hold it still for 5 seconds no matter what I do?! - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

As the title states, I can't keep my phone from going to sleep. I've set the display settings to keep it on for 5 minutes and I even tried it with 2 minutes. If I lay it on a table and say, read a forum post, it'll just turn off. Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix/change it?

Screen turns itself on at 23:59

Hi to all,
i am running Essential ROM 1.7 (used to run X-Treme before) and on both of them my topaz activates screen every night exactly at 23:59. So it turns on, and go to sleep after 2 minutes (as set in settings). Anyone experienced this? I have bunch of apps installed and don't really want to try uninstalling all of them
Do you use G-Alarm?
Same problem to me and I use galarm.
It is something that G-Alarm does on purpose... If you go to the developer's site, it explains why.
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ageye\G-Alarm"
Don't wakeup at midnight
Because of the Windows alarm bug, G-Alarm wakes the device at midnight so Windows Mobile can rebuild its notification queue. If you turn this off by changing or adding following registry value, it may happen that an alarm doesn't go off:
MidnightWakeUp: False
http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=galarm/support/manual/hidden_options
Glad somebody else asked this, it's been bugging me for a few days but I never got around to posting.
I wouldn't mind the turning on, but mine doesn't turn off! I have my timeouts set to 3 mins for backlight and 4 mins for device (they're high because I use it to play Scrabble!) I've left the midnight thing on for as long as 10 minutes before manually turning it off. Any ideas?
Hi
I think that is poor programming, you can turn the phone on without turning the backlight on and this happens all the time many times a day.

wifi not disconnecting in standby

Hi everyone
I have a strange problem since a couple of days. If turn my HD2 off (standby) the wifi connection remains alive. This naturally is a massive battery drain and the only thing I can do, is to manually turn it of whenever I don't need it. Does anyone have a solution for this problem.
After this problem appeared I thought I might have accidentally turned on the WiFi Standby tweak in BsB Tweaks. It appears turnoff in BsB Tweaks. So I thought I might try turning it on an then off again to clean up the registry, but I don't seem to be able to turn it on so it sticks. I'm thinking maybe BsB Tweaks isn't actually showing whether it's turned on or not. Does anyone know the reg-key concerned, so I can check manually whether it's turned on.
Thanks for your help
Greetings

I have exactly the same problem. Have you found a solution?
I had this problem today where it constantly kept trying to connect and my battery went from 73% to 4% within a few hours, even though i selected cancel.
do you have bsbtweaks installed? there is a tweak in there that lets wifi stay on when on standby, perhaps that is active?
this is not issue this is normal , as they make the end key closes the screen they should have stretched the wifi turn off time after standby so wait from 2-3 minuites after going to stand by and you will find it closed automatically

it was doing exactly how you say before, but it now never disconnects. I keep forgetting to turn it off and it's such a battery killer. "keep wifi connection in standby" is not active under BSB Tweaks by the way.

Check this registry value...
HKLM\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms:HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended
It should be 0 to turn off wifi when in standby.
Hope this helps
Edit:
Ignore the space in "HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended" above. It's this forum - it's always doing that
I've found this:
HKLM\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms:SuspendOffDelayInterval
I've set it from default 30000(30 seconds) to 5000 (5 seconds) and WiFi does restart when I power-on after 5 seconds.

that didn't help me, still stays connected in standby.
This thread is interesting. I, on the other hand, would like to keep wifi ON while in standby (with screen off). For certain programs such as Pandora, I would like it playing in the background but have my screen off.
I am having the opposite issue. I can't seem to make it do that given the tips I found already on this thread.
I tried changing the following from 0 to 1 but noticed that when I poweroff phone, it goes back to being 0. Can anyone help me out? Sorry I don't mean to take over your thread. Maybe I should start a new similar thread with an opposite meaning..

Backlight while charging...

There was another post over this topic on Q&A but his was never answered so I'm posting here.
I recently reset my EVO and now when it is plugged in after 2 minutes (which is what it's set for) the backlight goes completely off. Now before I reset my EVO it would dim after two minutes and then stay on while it was charging. It would of course dim completely after two minutes if not on a charger. For some weird reason I can't seem to find how to duplicate this setting again. It dims completely off after two minutes whether it's being charged or not. Anybody know how to make this work or was this changed in the last update and that's why I can't find it? Anybody??
Have you tried looking under settings-applications-development? There is a setting that says to keep the screen awake while charging. That might be it if I read your post correctly. Then again maybe not

That was it. It just eluded me to no end. Thanks bro.
Thanks for me as well. It sucks that such settings are buried so deep.

Anytime. Just doing my part
Hmm. This doesn't work for me. Screen keeps sleeping even with this option selected. Sometimes the backlight stays on even though the screen and goes completely blank. Most of the time, the brightness fades until it is unusable. Anyone else have this problem? (Using stock ROM - it came with Froyo out of the box).

To keep the screen on you can go to Settings > Applications > Development and choose "Stay Awake".
You can also download Quick Settings (Free) from the market which will prevent dimming of the screen when "Stay Awake" is selected. Choose Never Timeout from the Quick Settings Device Timeout option.
it works on archos 101
Is there a program to leave the screen on ?
Thanks a lot
Stay Awake I selected my monitor goes off but still

Did you try Quick Settings? All I can say is that the Xoom screen never turns off or dims if you select Never Timeout for screen timeout with this app. Does the Xoom screen stay on when the problem occurs? I have never tried connecting to TV so if this does not work, there is something else going on.
What does not work is the extinction of the screen. There is time and the maximum is 30 minutes
Or by what it includes only Xoom when plugged in?

I think you need to be more specific. I do not understand what you are saying and you did not answer my question regarding the Xoom screen staying on.

AGAIN be more specific of the state of the Xoom when then issue occurs. Is the Xoom screen ON and BRIGHT when the problem occurs?
Quick settings with Never Timeout setting allows the Xoom screen to stay on and never turn off or dim. If this is working on the Xoom, are you still having the same issue?
The first problem was 2player
Your answer: lit screen
Second problem When I select stay awake there is another option timeouts and maximum 30 minutes
It's ok I find screen off timeout software Thank you for your help and effort to understand me

screen will not timeout.

I have screen inactive settings set to 15 seconds. But my screen will not turn off on its own no matter what. I've tried all inactive times and none work. If I get a text my screen turns on and stays on till I shut it off. This is killing my screen and battery. Anyone know if this is fixable? Should I try factory reset? Thanks
Just in case anyone has this issue I learned a temp fix. Backup and restore and then reset settings. But the issue just arised again today. So it's only temp.

If you have the Dev option on to 'Never Sleep' then that's why. Otherwise I have no idea.

Nope. it's super annoying. And restarting phone won't fix it. All I change is ring tone and text tone. Takes about 3 days to start acting up again and it really kills my battery with my phone on in my pocket.
