Restarts cause settings to change back to default? - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Moto G5 (Amazon edition) on Verizon. Not rooted
I had configured some of the settings like adding battery % to top, network, etc.
However, when I turned off the device, and powered it back on, I lost most of my saved settings.
My network switched back to GSM so I couldn't make calls, but after some troubleshooting I realized that they switched me from CDMA. Adding the battery % on top took some figuring out but it went back to default of only the icon. Bluetooth turned off.
Is anyone else experiencing this settings bug during restarts?
I've owned at least 4 other Motorola phones but never seen this happen before.

Everyone with Battery problem post info here fix soon

Ok, although I do not have a solution it seems that their are a small percentage of people on here that have the same problem as me.
This is what I know:
The EVO has a bigger display, a faster proccessor, 4G, and alot of advanced features this means battery is not going to be the greatest.
However, I am now rooted running CM6 RC2, and although I love this ROM I have been having terrible battery. Also, I was using Fresh's and stock unrooted ROM and had bad battery also, AFTER I PUT IN ALL MY SETTINGS.
When I would hard reset my phone, it would sleep like normal, and the battery would run great, however, I think their is a setting that I use with my phone that is keeping it awake.
Now I am going to give all the settings that I use on my phone without installing any apps from the market. Because I know some apps keep your phone awake but I did a factory reset, put in my settings without installing any apps and my phone stayed awake.
***I have already tried the HTC and Sprint method of "conditioning your battery" I know their are 2 methods I have done both. I have setCPU, juice defender, spare parts, all that stuff that supposedly saves battery, but so far none have helped. Also my phone is set to auto CDMA, i tried that*****
Here is what I think. I am changing some setting in the phone that is keeping it awake and I can't seem to find what it is, I had this same problem with google sync setting and thankfully someone helped me fix it and it solved the problem however, after that I am still having the issue.
Keep in mind I HAVE NOT INSTALLED ANYTHING FROM THE MARKET YET, I have only entered my settings in apps that came with the phone because I believe that is the culprit.

If anything looks not right, or you think something as little as it may be may be causing the problem, even if it doesn't make sense please suggest it, I have tried everything, thanks.
Not to burst your bubble, but it's been pretty much proven that CM6 has unsatisfactory battery life.
Try Burnt Droid v1 + netarchy-toastmod kernel for optimum battery life.
I know,
but after reading through the thread it seems that about half of them half pretty good battery life, however I had poor battery with other roms, because something was keeping my phone awake.
I'm having a similar problem. On any ROM that's based of HTC's 2.2, my phone will run fine for about a day and then it will begin to stop sleeping. Once that happens the only way to get it to stop is to do a factory reset. What's funny is that using the exact same settings with CM6-RC2 I don't get the 100% awake issue. I've tried everything and can't figure it out.
I've tried turning off all automatic syncing, turning off network time and network location...didn't work. I deleted my Exchange account since I had heard that some people were having Exchange problems...didn't help. This last time around I didn't install anything from the market, it was just the stock apps. I did connect the phone to Sync in my truck and used it quite a bit before the problem cropped up.
I've got a sneaking suspicion that it's some kind background process that tries to run after a specified amount of time, but there's some kind of problem with the Sense-based ROMs that I've tried that won't allow it to run properly. So we need to figure out what the process is and either stop it from running in the first place, or figure out a way to take it out of the ROM so it isn't there to begin with.
I'm going to wipe everything and try installing Fresh 3.1.0.2 again. I'm going to try to remember to reboot my phone every night when I plug it in to charge and see if that helps. While it isn't ideal, it's way easier than having to do a factory reset every other day. I'll post back and let everyone know what happens.

[Q] Wi-Fi problem - No root, original rom

Hello,
First of all, I have never rooted my cell phone, so I guess I am still using the original ROM? I have no idea how to change a ROM, how to root a cellphone, or how to even see what mine is, just so you know. This is why I created a new thread, the other ones solutions always reffered to "change your Rom" etc.
I currently possess a HTC/T-Mobile MyTouch 4G. The issue that I'm having is the following: Everytime I try to turn my Wi-Fi on, it takes a little while, turns on for a couple seconds and then turns itself off, without any command. And it keeps going on this cycle: turning on and off (it is so fast that it cannot even recognize any saved networks, and the wifi icon does not even show up in the upper bar), until I rapidly and manually click, when it is "on", to turn off. Then it stops the cycle, with the WiFi turned off. This means that I cannot use my wireless connection, and it has been lasting for more than 2 months by now. I can access 3G normally. I have tried to "soft format" the cellphone, but it has changed nothing. (By soft format, I mean the format option included on the phone. It formatted everything, deleted my contacts, apps, themes, configurations and etc, but it was made from within the phone). Also, when it is "on", and when I click in the "Wi-Fi settings" bar, it shows nothing and it freezes the phone for a while, some seconds. Then it turns to the "off" state and returns me to the previous page automatically.
The problem aparently appeared from nowhere, I have not made a single change in anything other than installing applications. I have had an issue regarding its battery, though, which made me substitute the battery. The problem also seemed to appear with the battery issue, but it is still occuring, even though I have substituted the battery.
I thank you very much in advance, and look forward for help and a solution.
Best regards.

My First android phone was a Motorola MB200. The WiFi never worked. Tried soft reset, flashing the stock Firmware via Pc and using wifi fixing appsbut it never worked.
Until i rooted and flashed cyanogenmod.
The Wifi miraclously started working.
Until now, i dont know why the stock rom couldnt fix that issue.
To cut things short, you could give rooting a try and it might fix your issue.

Phone is locking itself on vibrate...

Ok so first I've had this issue on two phones and across three different roms so I'm not sure what if any app is causing the issue or if it's some hidden setting I've screwed up somewhere. It first started on my Nexus 5 when I was running Paranoid Android. I was having issues with that ROM and my weather app FCing so I switched over to catalyst. The issue would come up more when I switched over to catalyst. I thought maybe it was just an issue with the phone/ROM and I recently purchased the Moto X Pure. When I first got the phone I did a straight transfer of settings and things but the issue persisted on the new phone. So I did a factory reset, deleted EVERYTHING and started over. This time I manually added my google account and re-added all my apps from a backup. I made sure to exclude every app that might cause an issue (anything like automate, tasker, etc).
The problem is, seemingly randomly my phone will set itself to lock. For example my phone was on ring when I went to dinner, I put the phone in my purse, it was in ring when I got home (I got a facebook notification) and I set it on the table. I just picked it up to make a phone call and it was on vibrate, I never touched the phone. This happens randomly throughout the day, at home, away from home, there doesn't seem to be a pattern. IT can happen at night, it can happen in the morning or afternoon. When I try to turn the volume back up it doesn't let me. It will only let me change from vibrate to silent, and the different notification override settings, but I cannot turn the ringer back on. If I reboot the phone the ringer comes back just fine. Sometimes it stays for a day or two sometimes it goes right back into the 'locked' vibrate mode within an hour.
I've removed every app from my phone that could cause it, I have no automation apps or anything that has a mode that sets stuff like that. I've checked moto's settings (which wouldn't account for ths happening on my Nexus), and I've checked the Google settings in Interruptions and there is nothing set there that seems to cause this issue. Thoughts?

WiFi turning on by itself

Hi,
My H990DS has been bothering me for a couple of days as WiFi turns itself on without any kind of intervention.
Turning it off manually or having the phone restart does not help. I made sure the latest apps installed make no impact.
Playing with Developer Options made no difference.
I am ready to Factory Data reset.
Anyone experienced something similar ?
Thanks,
My 918 always shows wifi active in GSAM's graph, even when set to "Never" under the "Wifi on while inactive" option in system settings. I ended up just downloading Leandroid from the play store and setting it to disable the wifi radio, and renable it periodically to check for push messages. Seems to work fine with doze and standby time has improved.
Under settings, location, three dots top right, scanning, turn wifi scanning off. It turns back on anytime you use wifi and you manually have to turn it back off each time.
Mine (918) does this all the time. Im thinking its a 7.0 thing. There has been a few exceptions where it has stayed off. In my case I drive through a busy section in town and it constantly connects to the 20 or so open wifi spots so I turn it off. Well once I pull into the garage at home its magically back on.
Maybe something to do with networks it recognizes, Xfinity wifi wreaks havoc on it as well.
As soon as I uninstalled the latest apps, the issue disappeared. Not a single exception in 24 hours.
I suspect a Sip Client had caused the problem.

What!?
That sounds utterly horific for the battery, nevermind privacy concerns. I thankfully haven't experienced anything similar myself, but I've only ever used custom ROMs so perhaps that's the cause. But that sounds terrible.

No incoming texts over night until morning; they never show up

Hi folks,
I've got the 6013 model in the US, running on AT&T, completely stock never rooted, fully updated to 10.3.11. Either the most recent update, or the one before that, seems to have caused an issue where texts sent to me overnight or in early morning before I first use the phone never show up. I've missed some important notifications due to this. The worst thing is they NEVER show up... they aren't just delayed until I wake the phone up. After I start using the phone, new texts make it through just fine. The phone seems to be sleeping deeper or something and not getting any of these cellular-based texts. Emails and other notifications based on wifi internet seem to be showing up fine.
Do not disturb is NOT enabled (and, I've tried toggling it on and off without change). This has been going on for weeks or longer, multiple reboots, etc.. I've checked my default texting app (Textra) and the phone's built-in Messages app... the texts aren't in either app. They just never show up.
What else can I look into to check the cause of this and hopefully a fix?
Thanks!
As a test today, I sent a text from my work phone to my personal OnePlus when I got up (late! Father's Day!) before interacting with my OnePlus at all. It did receive the text just fine. I think the cellular radio may be on some timer and going to sleep / waking up on some sort of schedule. Where are the settings for controlling this kind of thing? I haven't messed with this phone's settings much... it just worked fine out of the box and ever since for the last two and a half years until recent update messed this text thing up.
Further information: In Settings, Battery, Battery Saver is OFF (I've never enabled this) and under battery optimization I noticed Textra was set for Intelligent Control; I've toggled this to Don't Optimize. "Messages" was not present; I never use it.
Is there anything else to try? Note that the phone is plugged in and fully charged at the time these issues are occurring.

Dude, not sure but hope it will work,
anyway trying will cost nothing...
Go to settings > battery > battery optimization >
hit on upper right 3 dots and select advanced optimization,
then be sure " SLEEP STANDBY OPTIMIZATION"
is toggled OFF.
Try again and cross your finger...
Cheers

Thanks @Dadditz , that was already off. Sigh. Not sure why this happens. I've tested when I get up at 7 am, sending a text from another phone, and my 6T receives it, but during the darker hours of the night, no joy. Thanks for the reply, though.
Just as a follow up, the problem seems intermittent. I got some 4 am texts from my sump alarm when the wifi went down briefly. No idea what's going on, but it's intermittent rather than constant.
