current best roms? ( been away) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I was using superman rom i think months and months and months ago in marshmallow. Went back to stock S7 edge rom when nougat came out, like the changes alot but its slow and i want to start tinkering with roms again. I have been away from forum for like 6 months or more. What are the best roms right now? Looking for something simple and super fast. ( i guess preferably nougat? but doesnt have to be )

Ever since I got this phone, just before Christmas I've been using ambasadiis rom, no lag at all battery life is amazing he puts out frequent updates also

I've tried many roms and I just suggest ambasadiis ROM.... with ROM control... It's amazing:good::good:

I've been using Resurrection Remix for the past few months now and it's the best I've used, highly customisable, no Touchwiz or bloat and I've yet to have an issue with it, I would suggest you give it a shot personally

I want to suggest you to give King Of Nougat (latest v9 with special edition zip, v10 is work in progress will come out soon). Developer is amazing and kind, we have an extraordinary telegram group where we talk a lot and it's definetely useful.

Any Marshmamllow ROM for Verizon Galaxy Note 3 ?

Just rooted my phone was running @5.0 stock lollipop and I updated to Jasmine 6.1 ROM (I thought 6.1 means 6.1 Android Version but i guess i was wrong)
I'm looking for verizon galaxy note 3 rom that's running on marshmallow
I seen T mobile note 3 can flash rom that's running on marshmallow right now
Is there any marshmallow rom available for verizon model as well?
I'm relatively new to all of this but from what I can gather our bootloaders are still locked (anyone that hasn't flashed a different one before 4.4) I have a rooted 5.0 verizon note 3 but I can't get twrp on it to flash any roms. I don't know if there are anyways around this so if anyone can point me to a set of instructions to read up on, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Their is no Marshmallow (android 6) ROM available that I am aware of. Perhaps we shall get lucky and their will be a Jasmine one available one day?

Due to an exploit you can root it now. Many android devices that were once not rootable are now rootable. You can also install custom roms, but their is still no solution for installing Boot Recoveries (like TWRP)
You can root your device through yemen one click
Then use FlashFire to install Jasmine Rom. Seems to work pretty decent for me.

i know this threads old but root then do bootloader unlock and use flashify to flash recovery then flash roms and enjoy.
Most marshmallow roms currently don't support verizon sim cards. since they use CDMA towers and all MM Roms ive seen are based off Global models (GSM). I guess there are ways to work around it, but they're labor intensive and still don't seem to work well/reliably. They also still have problems with the SMS/MMS and applying their provided patch on a Verizon phone causes bootloop .
I've tried Music of life, Darklord, and Darkwolf. all have some sort of problem. i'm went back to jasmine 6.1. I made a full backup using TWRP 2.8.7 before mucking around with the other roms. so i've been playing around with roms worry free. lol but IMHO there is yet to be one worth using as a daily driver.
CM13 unofficial works pretty well but it doesn't support S-pen and all those little fancy things.

CM13 is MM derived and works fine on Verizon. (I don't know about MVNOs that use Verizon's network - I'm an "ordinary" VZW subscriber). SMS/MMS/Calls, whatever. There are a few odds and ends (e.g. NFC) that aren't working, but the things that make it a phone - SMS/MMS/calls - all have been solid in my limited usage.

Yeah i liked cm13. It was working pretty good for me, i made a twrp recovery image so i could play with it here and there. Just no fancy touchwiz features like spen and multiwindow.
Also, On one of the s6 ported roms i could send sms and recieve sms but not mms. i was also able to get data connection. I like it the best but it still needs some polishing. I just flashed a stock deodexed lollipop rom, still taking it for a test spin to compare against jasmine 6.0. But so far i like it. If i can get more xposed modules working on this rom it may be my favorite so far. Im waiting on darkwolfs v3's release which is schedualed for this weekend .

Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Bootloader HAS been unlocked
I found a thread on here showing how to unlock the bootloader on the Verizon note 3 about a month ago however everyone is still saying its locked. I would love it if someone made a port of the s7 edge and note 5 android 6.0.1 for the Verizon note 3. But, I'm simply just about done wishing since nobody can seem to realize that the bootloader IS UNLOCKED .

In terms of 'current' the Note 3 is still great hardware... But it's coming up on 3 years old and in terms of technology... That's OLD.
Most developers have moved on to bigger and better (newer) phones.

I think it's this one: [Official] Note 3 Verizon Bootloader Unlock.
I've got a VzW Note 3 (SM-N900V) frozen at v4.4.2 using SafeStrap v3.75 (TWRP v2.7.1.0) The device and TWRP work great; I've made changes and roll backwards and forwards -- although I've only done one ROM upgrade, and that was to this specific version. BTW, Xposed and One Tap YouTube downloader now work again.
I like having a computer in my pocket but I want it to work -- phone, WiFi, BT, camera, pen, LTE, everything. Running a neat ROM where things don't function just doesn't work for me anymore.
(This, and I used to write firmware-level hard disk drivers.)
I've frozen ALL of my devices to 4.4.X -- because they all look and act exactly the same. I don't mind different apps on different devices, but they need to act the same. If I'd wanted to Think Different I'd have ibought an iApple.
Looking at v6 M to see if I can upgrade all of them.
I have tried almost every marshmallow rom made for note 3, i have a n900v and i have flashed all of this roms http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...x-roms-5-x-6-x-rooted-note-3-verizon-t3364341
I favor darklord rom right now I setup my phone slightly different then most do in build prop don't know if it made much of a difference but if don't have the issues most do lte sms calls etc work fine for me. I have an iPhone 6 plus also jailbroken/rooted yes I like to be different hate being another sheep like everyone else with the exact same phone lmao. I like all my phone my way that's reason 1 for me not liking my Verizon s6

Should I use custom rom?

Hey guys...
Just got my S7 edge today. Are the custom roms better than the stock? Do you advise me to flash? The most important thing for me is battery life, so if there's a stable rom that would do that (in addition to other features and advantages) I'd like to hear about it.
Well, I searched a bit, and people seem to like the Edge Renovate rom and the Omega rom, but it doesn't look like their available for my model "SM-G935FD". So, if you do advise me to flash a custom rom, which would be my best choice?
Thanks
Hi,
First things first, do you use the dual Sim capability of your device? Since the rom doesn't support 935FD I believe it will "turn" your device into a 935F (which I think it's possible, not sure), which is a single SIM phone.
If you do use two SIM cards at the same time I wouldn't flash a custom ROM. If you wish to however, then I will suggest the same I always do, read the threads carefully and check for battery life screenshots with any comments, then see if it's the ROM you want to flash.
All the best,
~Lord

And, no, I won't use dual sims. And I've just read that people flashed a G935F rom onto a G935FD model successfully with no issues. So I'm gonna go for it. And so far, I'm going for the Renovate custom rom. But I'm not sure whether to pick Renovate Edge 3.3 or Renovate Note 2.0, so if there's anyone who can help me pick... thanks!
As someone who's installed all the ROMs on xda for this device, my suggestion would be to stick with stock. You can root your device and use xposed modules to achieve the same result. I'm doing this currently.
If however you've made up your mind regarding custom ROMs, my suggestion would be Renovate Edge. It is an amazing build (I recently mentioned it in the thread) and since the Note 7 is a discontinued line, I'm not sure whether the Note port will be given much priority in future. I can be wrong.

Thanks for your answer. But why do you suggest to stick to stock? Isn't Renovate lighter and better?
I went out looking for custom ROMs to bypass the fingerprint lock issue at reboot where you've to enter the pin manually. Now I don't care much as my phone rarely passes hands. Apart from that the stock is pretty smooth itself... You don't really need a custom ROM. The battery is good by itself. You can improve it using greenify+xposed or you can use Samsung's battery optimisation available in the battery settings. Works like a charm! But hey, try things out yourself and decide.

Not a problem! Also, if it makes any difference, none of the custom ROMs beat the stocks Antutu score for my device. What's going on? I don't know if that's the case for others here. The closest was Renovate and yet not close enough. Antutu is **** anyways.

Help in deciding s8 port rom

Hi guys. Some minor assistance in deciding.
According to your opinion/experience what would be the best s8 port rom to install to my s7 edge ?
I see too many of them and I cannot decide. Ambasadii, sac24, batman, project dream, minotaurus, aurora etc.
I would like the rom to be the closest to stock as possible (i don't really care about a ton of extra features), stable, bug free, and I would like the performance and battery life to be close to stock (or better if possible).
Also, do any of these s8 port roms update via OTA or would I have to check daily teh XDA site, and then download and flash myself the new updated rom every time?
Any comments/suggestions/tips would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Is it worth voiding waranty and tripping KNOX etc?

Should I install custom rom?

Hi there. I am kinda new on these things.
I am at my home right now. I have the time to backup everything.
I am on stock right now , I have started getting a bit of lags here and there.
Should I root and install a custom rom?
And if yes , what is the best combination of kernel and rom for the best performance and battery.

DO NOT INSTALL CUSTOM ROM, if you have to ask that question.
On a serious note, a factory reset will take care of all lags.Rooting is for those who have a spare phone, want to play around and can afford brick sooner or later. Moto has determined stock to be best for all others.

Acknowledged !! and my apologies.
Rooting and custom roms work well on MotoG+.On some of the latest Oreo roms I was playing around with in the past couple of months, the camera app broke more often than once.If you can live with that in exchange for performance, LineageOS 15 and Pixel Experience roms worked great.
But as with any phone, you have to play around for the best of latest or for stability.
Just my two cents .

What about the battery life?
Can i use greenify etc with these roms?
Thanks for the reply
Install only if a stock firmware higher or equivalent to your current version is available. Else you will not be able to go back to stock. If you attempt to downgrade you will run into problems with bootloaders.

Battery life is pretty good on the custom rom side. All updated ROMs are now Android 8.1 and are 64 bit. I usually get 6-7+ hours screen on time and switch between every rom that's released For battery and customizations I recommend AEX or Validius. Also, you can use greenify on any of the custom ROMs and root with magisk and pass safety net as well. I Also recommend you download from telegram group as those links are updated more often than xda.
Telegram links are:
t.me/g5pluslinks ---> All new ROMs released no chat
t.me/motog5plus ---> Release of new ROMs / kernels but lot of chat too.
t.me/MotoG5PlusStuff ---> Collection of all kinds of camera apps.

I believe that using custom kernel was the fix to that issue, not 100% sure as I never had the issue myself. Also, if you decide to go to a custom rom you won't have that issue (it only affects stock rom). Another option if you want to stick on stock is find the thread on here for TWRP flashable stock ROMs and use latest one for your phone.
I'm not able to select SD card storage in the recovery mode. What's the issue here? How do I fix it?

No problem. Happy I could help.

Just got a SM-G930V, what are our choices as of today?

Been trying to get root access with various videos to no avail, guess the new updates made those not working.
Already soft-bricked my device once within 30 minutes of having it LOL.
But anyways, she's running fine again just don't really care for the stock rom so much..
I thought someone had the S9 rom working well on these? Maybe not the Verizon version??
Any help would be much appreciated, tons of outdated threads on here..
