[CLOSED]OnePlus Has Invited User Participation Into Their New MP Early Access Program - OnePlus 3T Guides, News, & Discussion

OnePlus has invited its customers into their new MP Early Access Programme.
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/mp-early-access-program.507605/
According to the thread, Oneplus' Customer Base can now participate in a selection for the new MP (Mass Production) Software Testing Team.
This new team will be given "Near-OTA-Ready" builds of the Oxygen OS for a final run before it is released as OTA to the masses.
How it works :
The CBT (Closed Beta Testing) Team will test out the early versions of a new build. They find, report and fix as much bugs they could.
Then it is passed on to Open Beta Users where any left out bugs are detected and final suggestions and improvement requests from the wider user base is taken.
Then comes the role of MP team, where you will get Near-OTA-Ready builds for another final round of testing.
Once the build passes the MP team, it is released as OTA to the rest of the user base.
The Eligibility Criteria is rather simple :
You should be owning an OP3/3T.
Be a moderate to heavy user, willing to spare some time off for testing the builds.
Any experience in testing ROMs (both Official and Custom) would greatly add to your chance of getting selected. They are expecting around 150 people.
If you are interested, feel free to fill out this Google form; https://goo.gl/forms/cSMXSlkhPgLwTB283 ; which is also there at the bottom of the OP ,back at the Oneplus Forums.
More info can be found in the OP. (link posted at the top of this post)

Yeah but since its concerning both 3 and 3T users, I felt this would be the right place. Anyways I'll consult with a mod and do the necessary.
Thanks.

Just signed up!

Same! Hope we get accepted!

I've reported the thread and moved it into a General Section. Thanks @domosicecream and @SynisterWolf
Ajay

I went ahead and duplicated this thread in OP3 and left a link to this thread so we can keep all the post in one location.
Going to change ownership to you OP. incoming.

Oneplus has closed the invite as they have reached over 1000 applications. Good Luck for all those who applied. :good:

Kernel Discussion

So when the kernel is released what will that mean for us. What kind of things can we look forward to?
Is pending some license/certification completion issues.
Thats what my email from elocity said in my latest response from them. Hoping it's sooner than later. Even explained in the email why getting the kernel released would be good for thier business. They need to deliver something whether it be the A10, the kernel or upgrade options. Wonder how possible that would be. Send your A7 in to get the multitouch screen put in. Anyways when I hear anything I will post more.
With kernel source every developer could:
- make a full ROM (kernel + any version of Android from released sources)
- improve stability and performance
- fix issues before official techsupport
- add new features
That's so important!
If we would get kernel source in summer - that might be too late. Many eLocity owners might change their devices to new Xooms, Flyers, Asus eeePads, Samsung 8.9s and etc...
That is basically how I worded it in my email, pointing out that everyday more people are selling thier a7's and getting a different device. And that if they released the kernel it would practically eliminate that. Also that thier company needs to release something soon, yet to see any branded accessories a10 is delayed and our a7 we want the kernel. give us something before you lose your future market.
I think they have to much on there hands with a10, maybe after they will release something for the a7, keep your fingers crossed

Zipping files and emailing them takes about 2 minutes ... doing so will relief them from working more on the A7 has the community will be able to developpe stuff for the A7, otherwise the A7 will just die there.
I suggest we all email [email protected] and ask for those files to be released ASAP.
I would even say that someone just write an email template to copy and paste that email
If they care about having a future market the sooner they release the kernel the better.

I am not going to make this live, I don't know what kind of legalities would be involved if eLoicty found a flood of e-mails harassing.
You might want to add that XDA and Dexter are even in big reseller's review (Aka Tiger Direct) ... wich is mainly why people would buy an A7 has of today ...

I am not publishing it anywhere, I just made the template and created a Gmail account to track how many people use it, if any.
Like I said in the post, I don't know what kind of legalities would come into play should eLocity deem it harassing. With the whole thing being able to be composed and sent in 2 clicks I can see it being easily abused. I don't plan on being the fall guy should it result in thousands of messages.
Not to sound like an idiot but how do I post this.

1.Copy contents of code window.
2. Paste into HTML document.
3. Remember that you are the one responsible when eLocity gets angry.
Dexter what are your thoughts on this?
Here is an encouragement from eLocity Team :
Regarding the kernel information, I have been working to get our overseas team to release it so developers can really take the A7 to new heights. I am hoping to be able to share the kernel info soon and will certainly reach out to Dexter, the XDA community and others so they'll have a new tool to make exploring and developing easier.

Don't abuse those emails, but for sure, we're making a difference, if it's done properly, I can't imagine a company being mad for receiving interest in their products ...
Sorry, I didnt see this thread when I posted the other new thread...but there is some slightly newer info there.
Kernel
If they release the code does that have any impact on anny new releases of the OS for the A7? Are we assuming the eLocity is done? Is there any chance for a major upgrade before they are done?
@masterfred: your quote from them confirms all my suspicions.
"Over seas development team" my ass. eLocity is just a reseller, at most installing a different launcher and fielding (not to the best of their ability btw) the tech calls. Compal has been the ones pulling the strings the whole time.
So where does it go from here? I have very little faith that Compal will be on any rush to help the development community. They even backed out of marketing this tab under their own branding. I don't trust companies that operate from.the shadows like that.
elocity a7 source code
If you google the whats above you will find many places that reps stated elocity plans to release the source/kernel so keep smiling and be patient.

Yeah, they are probably waiting for Compal to release it to them.

Mission to obtain LE1 Pro X800 US edition source code

Hi Guys,
I am fairly certain that many of you will have been as frustrated as I am about LeEco's response to our requests for the source code for our devices. Many of us have been met with we did not release the phone to the US market so please contact the 3rd Party seller. You and i know that this is an unacceptable stance and in breach of the GNU etc.
I think it's time for all frustrated owners to show LeEco what we think of their stance, and take a stance of our own as many of us have already started to do, and see if we can twist their arm a bit. The best way in my opinion is to hurt the company where it hurts most, and that's in the pocket and in the public eye. I therefore recommend that all users go to their face book account and leave a review of 1 star and explain why. Making sure you also mention our device in the comments section. This is bound to hurt and just over the last day i have seen their review score drop a few points. Now if everyone who signed the petition did this they would likely have a score near 1 out of 5. Which is roughly what I would give their service just now.
I have also been instructed by Lemall.US to email their opensource team a request to release the code which I have done and hope many will take time out to do the same.
Keep in mind we have been treated completely different to the buyers of the CN model who seem to get endless updates. While we get BS!
All of these reviews can be changed in the future if they release the source code and let us be free of their crappy, malware firmware.
Here are the links

Seems to be definitely working, now at 87 one star reviews and certainly LeMall US Team have taken notice, but we must keep the pressure up.
48 hours have now passed and 49 reviews by US X800 Users.
What can we achieve at this rate in the next 48 hours?.
This is awesome considering the Campaign is in its infancy and only went live on a few other sites last night so hopefully it will pick up exponentially over the next few days. Like the petition on change.org did.
We need to try and aim for at least another 63 reviews, so that we equal their 5 star reviews and they will hit the 2.5 rating, but obviously the more the better, so keep on spreading the word.
Still no further news from LeEco since this morning and not so much as an acknowledgement from le.opensource. But i am in communication with them in all channels and not giving up.
I honestly believe we are not far from cracking this.
I will keep everyone updated with any new developments as soon as I hear.
Awesome effort so far guys!
Respect!
Thanks for putting effort into LeEco finally giving us the source code.
Just posted a 1 star review. Currently it seems they are on a 4,0 star average with 772 votes.
We need more votes!
Posted a one star review.
We need more votes!!!
Desmond thank you for the great idea!
.....
Hahaha, leeco is treating it's costumers like we're toddlers ! They removed two threads that i posted on their website http://forum.le.com/us/index.php?forums/technical-discussion.26/
I've got them back from Google cache but i can't post them on their FB because i don't use FB to let people know how touchy this company is.
And such a company tries tol make it in US and Europe, with this attitude they can forget it !

This is really good news.
Does this mean that we are starting to get listed to.
Let's hope it's not just Honor USA that are doing this

I was in the Honor 5X USA beta test group for some time when the phone was announced in the states. I would say consumers are always listened to by Huawei. I reported bugs and complaints during the time, and everything was fixed quickly thereafter. The team leaders really wanted to know every aspect of how I feel about their products. They chat with me and other testers through Google Hangout and through personal emails. But there always be some limited resources and dedicated time for the team to talk to so many customers. In reality, if you put yourself at the position of the company and the developers, it is almost impossible for the team to keep track of every post here, at least.
I think it is a good chance to exchange information with the Honor team by applying to the beta test team if you really care about the development of Honor phones and software. If you cannot join the beta test team, let us know on the forum, I'd be more than happy to forward your word to the Honor team to improve the products and services for the future releases if I get accepted as a tester for the Honor 8 product line. I hope they will be reaching out to people in a broader region, but if not, XDA is a good interconnecting region.
Cheers!
I applied, we'll see. I somehow made it into an online beta focus group for AXE products (which I despise) about a decade ago, I enjoy doing that type of thing.

Render real-time blur effects in Android with BlurKit

Two years ago we released BlurKit to create fast blur effects in Android. It was simple to use and filled a need for many Android developers. Since then, development of BlurKit has slowed as our attention moved to other projects such as CameraKit.
Today we are bringing back support for BlurKit in a big way. We've released v1.0.0 and will work to squash bugs and roll out new features in the coming months. If you want to contribute or see our roadmap, check us out on GitHub! We've made a blog post about this here: Medium - but wanted to share with XDA for any direct feedback! Thanks in advance everyone.
A couple of years ago I needed to create a blur effect in one of the applications. For implementation I used renderscript. Everything worked very slowly and this idea had to be abandoned. Does your library work in a similar way or does it use something new?

What to do with discontinued devices

Over time, new devices are added and other devices drop off the list. Would it not make sense to create a space somewhere on the Lineage downloads page(s) to allow individuals to access the last official build - not the whole history but just the final build - for any given device (and maybe be able to resurrect them if they have interest in being a maintainer) ? It seems to me that having the devices simply disappear from view is not necessarily the best approach. While folks who have frequently updated their devices will probably be aware that the updates have ended (at least in the short term) newcomers will probably not. How much server space are we really talking about to keep ONE build and the device information for "X" number of devices, anyway?
FYI - 02 April, 2019 - another "obscure" device - the Galaxy S6 - just disappeared from the downloads page. HOW difficult would it be to create a tab for "retired builds" ?
FYI - 27 April, 2019 - the S6 edge is also gone, and the S7 is soon to follow.
I would also like to have discontinued device ROMs downloadable. It is also good to know that such builds existed. I agree that the a device should be allowed to be maintained again in the future should someone wish to become the maintainer or the previous maintainer wishes to continue.

I absolutely and totally agree with this. Why throw it all away. Yes, maybe someone will pick up some of these de-appreciated devices in the future.
... Hello?
That explains it ......
Over 1,000 views and barely more than a dozen votes. To everyone who will scratch their heads when their devices up and vanish, at least you may now know why.
