Locked out of Phone, No Google Password - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello!,
Just recently purchased an unlocked S7 SM-G935F phone several weeks back, and got locked of the google account. I can't get password from google because I think the password was compromised. Google refuses to provide the password or reset it. So, my question is how can I modify this phone without having the developers tab tap 7 times get back to it's original firmware? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Sorry but you didn't give enough information.
First of all, if the phone is not yours, give it back to the owner or don't try to access data without passwords: it is illegal, though impossible too.
If it's your legitimate property you can reset your google password with the methods you configured. If you find no way suggested to recover your password you will have to contact directly google customer service and hope they will try to verify your identity and give you someway access to your data, and device too.
The thing of developer option it's not correlate to your problem, maybe you want to install a custom aoftware (rom, kernel etc) but you didn't say that. And anyway there are tons of guides which you maybe already read. If your device is locked there's no way to recover it without your google password. Don't try flash strange things you will brick it.

Nope, it's my phone. I purchased it several weeks ago as mentioned before. I have a receipt from Amazon as proof. I honestly got locked out of the phone and can't recall the exact password because I probably tossed it away. I've called google 4 times still no avail. I would like to install a custom rom if possible. Any other suggestions? Id be willing to donate a few bucs.

Then go back to the Amazon seller and ask him/her.

I'm sorry but if you write here on xda you will likely find people who know what is going on. And anyone would be suspicious if you're asking to bypass a security lock. There are 2 cases, one is that that ain't not your device, the other is that you're so dumb to lock a 700$ device with a password you don't remember saying bull****s like " the password was compromised " or, which is fantastic, " I called Google 4 times" like if they have a number to call to get Samsung assistance. I'm really happy theres no way to acces phone without correct psw, but if you want you can keep waisting your time.Mods please throw away this tief

You forgot or "lost" your Google password? This doesn't sound right.
Why not recover your Google password using their online system?

"I cant recall the password because I probably tossed it away"
Love the "probably". Can be hard to keep track of bulls***.
Make your mind up - find a lie and stick to it. Did you probably toss it away or is the password "compromised"?

Good luck trying to fool anyone in here to help you out with your "problem".
If it was legitimately yours, then you would've set up a fingerprint and not only a password, don't you think that would've been smart? That way you would've not been "locked out of phone". Emphasis on "If it was legitimately yours".

Smell test is clear...

Password was compromised, password was tossed away... sounds legit!

I've actually done what this guy has but I did it on a freshy right outta the box with me swing the first owner. However this does seem suspect I would help if I knew you were the first and only owner but seeing you're not I cant.

I'm in the same boat. My father-in-law somehow got his S7 edge locked and forgot his google password at the same time. He went to a Verizon store, but they only told him to recover via google. He shipped the phone to me to try and help him unlock it. Google password recovery is by 3 methods:
1) send a text to the phone. Of course this doesn't help because I can't unlock the phone. I hear the tone when the text comes in, but can't retrieve it
2) Sends a code to another email associated with the google account. He swears its his daughter's email address, but when we put that code in, google says it doesn't recognize her email as authorized
3) tell google what month & year the account was created. He can't remember that either
At this point, I'm willing to pay someone to fix it. I believe it has the newest Nougat firmware. I tried many suggestions from YouTube, but I can't even get to the menu where you connect to a wifi signal.
Anyone willing to help or just think I stole the phone like the previous guy?

THANK YOU!. At least I made some progress. Now I find myself in an endless loop...the phone keeps saying "This device was reset. To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device".
My father-in-law has 2 Google accounts. Having put his sim in my phone, I was able to reset passwords for both of these Google accounts, but the phone doesn't like either of them.
Any more suggestions?
Oh. Without the sim, I was finally prompted to connect to a wifi.
Is it possible that no Google account was synced with this device?

guys... try to fix ur google accounts in a pc .. after u finish and u have the email and the password. just enter it to the phone.. u dont need to doo all the work from the phone

I've fixed (can now log in) two of my father-in-law's google accounts. Its just that the phone isn't recognizing either of them now. I don't know if he has a 3rd account of if it was possible to set up the phone without one. I'm on Verizon with an iPhone so I don't know anything about android or google.
Read that you have to wait 24 hours after changing Google password, so I'll try it again tonight.

the scotsman - You are my F*CKING hero! 24 hours after resetting the google password, the S7 edge recognizes it and is now unlocked. My father-in-law (& mother-in-law) thank you.

So my dad lost his gmail password...

Whe he bought his evo he went to the sprint store. Long story short a rep set it up for him, he told the rep what he wanted and what his security question was. Why he didnt do it himself, is beyond me. Anyway, now I rooted his evo for him and went to restore gmail/contacts etc and he cannot remember his password. So we played the google games and emailed them etc etc they are saying they cannot give us our password because we didnt give them enough info to prove its us. So now he's short on his contacts right?
Sounds like it. Unless he has them backed up already somewhere (you can export to a csv or xls file when you're logged in) he's probably screwed. You should be able to get google to reset it by giving them the right information, but sometimes you have to have that set up ahead of time (like a recovery email account or something of that sort).
See if he can dig through his brain and remember it.
yeah ohwell haha. i mean I thought he would have known it, but I bet the rep ****ed it up. Hmm.. Ifilled out the form again but I doubt its going to work. kinda crazy that there is no other way for them to give it to you. I mean I see they have an SMS recovery option but no where to put in your phone or anything.

Yeah that would have to be set up ahead of time...otherwise, anyone could steal your password by providing their phone number. How is google going to authenticate you without a lot of information besides a password? They're just trying to cover their asses.
I totally understand your frustrations though, I had the same problem with steam, and when they said they sent an email to the recovery account, it was to my old hotmail address that I hadn't used in years...huge headache.
true true, but there has to be some way around it. Or something haha.
There is a way around it. Google ask's you to setup and alternate email address for recovery and I get the screen all the time that ask me to add a phone number just incase. So its not that there isnt away around it. Its that your dad hasnt taken the proper steps to avoid the situation.
Also click the contacts button, go to menu, and click export/import, back up your contacts be exporting them to the sd card or restore your contacts by importing them from the sd card. However, your dad doesnt sound like the kind of guy that exported them to an sd card. I am basicly only telling you this so you can make him aware of the option so he doesnt loose them in the futur.

Not when you set up an account on the phone tho. He never uses it let along on a PC. So that option wouldnt be available to him. Unless they changed it since I signed up on my Hero a year or so ago.
I had the same thing happen to me but my daughter set up phone to have the pattern password and she is 5 so she didn't know what she did. I tried to figure it out but couldn't. After a number of tries I got locked out and had to enter gmail but I forgot that too. Called Sprint and they got it for me it was saved to my aol account he gave it to me and end of story good luck
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
if you backed up before you flashed you can restore that, make a backup in titanium backup the green files, and accounts and sync (red), go back to the new rom and install titanium by downloading from their website then restoring your backups
Well I unrevo. His phone, and didn't think about it. I was unaware that he didn't know his password.lol

if he remembers the email address and the answer to the security question you can reset the password on the gmail website
or take his contacts off an older phone as a last resort!

Yeah thats the route he'll most likely have to take. He didn't add many new numbers but he did add some key ones... Oh well, mofo shouldn't have lost his password lol.

The rep did nothing wrong, its not his/her fault. Sorry, but your dad should have remembered his password, or wrote it down somewhere.

lolwut. you made sure he or she typed it in right for him? kk
But I know for a fact she spelled the secuirty question wrong. he uses it all the time and he hasnt changed it and well he was born there. So he knows that, but that too wont work.

you tried all spelling variations that the rep might have typed in?
yeah man.. its ok though. Im not here for people to argue back and forth tho ya know? Not saying you at all, just in general. Ive seen gmail/google sign-ins act funny before too. Like when I googled it earlier alot of people had to disable CAPTCHA for instance on the PC to make it work. And even when I sign in on my PC I get a CAPTCHA even with the right passworl. Guess its a security measure.. too secure IMO>

[Q] password ulock

i bought a phone off the internet and it says enter password to unlock is there a master code so that i can get into it?
Is it MT4G? Also how do I know that you didn't steal the phone? There are ways to bypass logon password, sim password, pattern sig. Send me the proof that you bought it and ill tell you howto bypass. I don't really wanna help thief's or folks who found other peoples phone and don't want to return it.
I'd say not to help, because they would have contacted the seller for the password and also nobody would sell their phone without doing a complete wipe, which would have also removed their password. My bet is that it's stolen or that they bought a stolen phone, either way it was still someone's phone being stolen.
Ya man I had dev-hd2(leo1024) stolen last year on Dec2010. I even left the kid message and voicemail saying I would pay him 600 cash if he returned it. I have massive amount of data on it and it was fully customized by me. Most damage was business phone numbers which I lost and till today I don't have those contacts.

Do you have a google account? Your contacts should have synced to your google account, so you should still have them, just log in to Gmail on your computer.

This was on Win6.5.X 29XXX base and no google/tmob sync enabled. Other than Android none use it nor rely on it as it was my pure dev phone. Was at the bar with gf and lost it didn't even have gps or remote wipe installed as I left in hurry right after I flashed new COM build.
TmpUsr, T-Mobile even has a contact backup app. I rememebr my Shadow running 6.1 had that app. Either way, Backing up should be followed religiously
TmpUsr...did you check your tmobile my-account contact manager?
My contacts were backup up there without me even knowing!
I keep an app called Seek Droid for this occasion. If it gets lost or stolen I can enable GPS from my phone and track it down or even wipe the phone or SD card. Can also get recent call lists. Of course its pointless if they happen to find the program installed but its not listed in the menu so they would have to look for it to find it, which the average thief would not do.

Locked out. Phone asking for google password

A guy i know has an s6 edge +. He told me that even after hard reset, it still asks him for his google password, which he does not remember because when he setup the phone, he did it with a new gmail.
So, now that he is locked out, is the only solution to flash the stock firmware through odin? If yes, where can i find stock firmware for s6+? Is it the same as s6 firmware?
Thanks!
Even after Odin flash, it will require the password. Unless you know the password, you are pretty much locked out.
Are you 100% sure about that?
Thanks for replying btw
Am... why doesn't he recover the gmail password ?
I am sure there he needed to put in the Mobile Number to approve the account or some alternate E-mail / Security Questions to recover lost password ?
Well if he tried to fool system - I am sorry to say this - but then he does not deserve an easy solution in this case.
(Thinking n my head: How the f.... do you forget your Gmail password ? If it's new, you just created it, or??)
Best,
Dpool
I agree with you. I'm just trying to help the dude a little bit. As i said in the 1st post, the guy made a new gmail and forgot everything after that. If there is no solution then there is no need for him to make the trip and bring me the phone. Problem is... I want a solid answer and i haven't got that yet. Thanks
I understand it. But people here at XDA are really cautious about answering this type of questions as we don't have certain proof that the phone actually belongs to that person. It is a rule as well. I'm not judging, just saying. I could be wrong as well. There are a lot of ways to recover your Google password including the help of recovery email address. You have to research on that by yourself and this is the clearest possible solution we can give you. Good luck!

How to deal with Factory reset Protection?

UPDATE
My brother in law somehow managed to install ransomware on his sprint galaxy s7, me not knowing about removing it with safe mode went into recovery mode and did a factory reset. WELL now i know he forgot his gmail account and now I am dealing with Samsung's Factory Reset Protection, It was Very Frustrating to me not knowing this was the issue as I was under the impression that he knew his google account. So Currently I am trying to bypass this.
Does anyone know if he takes his device into the sprint store if they can verify it is his phone and lift this?
Is the only way to get it back is to either remember the account (how he forgot boggles my mind) or to do one of the bypass methods that have yet to be patched?
How do you restore the device? Will it work if the original Gmail account is used but with a new password or will it only work with the original Username and password?
It lets him set his gmail account and password but then it does the Verification Text which does not come through?
What Exactly is required to pass the Factory Reset Protection?
How do I resolve this issue?
Thanks for reading
this worked for me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVmcr13qDkI&t=0s
I can't believe someone on XDA would recommend another to Youtube!!. Those videos are a bunch of scammers trying to get everyone to do surveys now. Total crap.
Actually... Most of the YouTube videos DO work.. if you want to avoid surveys and etc, they have a feature called "comments".
Actually, That is CRAP. Not true at all.

Unable to Sign Into Device Due to Recent Password Change

Hey, so I tried searching on here as well as on Google, but to no avail. I just bought an Axon 7 from Swappa and in trying to sign into my account it says I can't because I've recently changed passwords. I haven't changed the password on this account for at least six months. I tried another Google account that's had the same password for years and it gave me the same error. Any ideas? It's the U.S. variant if that makes any difference. I may just go ahead and go through all the steps to install custom recovery and unlock the bootloader and see if that fixes it, but I thought I'd check here first. Any help is much appreciated.
Edit: Ok I didn't notice before but it's actually giving me asking for a Google account that was previously synced with the phone, so now I'm searching Google for how to get around this. For reference, here's the wording:
This device was reset. To continue, sign in with a Google account that was previously synced on this device.
I'll post here if I can find the solution.
You're SOL, bro. The same thing happened to me when i sold my Nexus 6. The only way around this is to get the previous owner to give you their login credentials. What should have happened is for the previous owner to factory reset, sign in to his/her Google account and then sell it. I know, it's BS, but it is for security reasons.
