Team Win Recovery Project 3.0.2.0 - Onetouch Idol 3 General

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

I'm missing something or I'm just watching text? Lol @satana.nik.1996 I saw already this posted on 4PDA, it has idol3 detected on TWRP to install things instead of Ido?
EDIT: well indeed it works, and it is fast as ****, the problem it is only has russian language and i can't test if the twrp is ido or idol3
Enviado desde mi 6045B mediante Tapatalk

Any chance of getting for idol 347?

Thanks for the update! now has all the languages, anyways it had a less bug with other device name, just edited the initrd/default.prop and now all good, it is really really fast, it install roms and backups as twice the old speed lol

Guys, do you mind kicking me in the right direction to find this? Would like to try it out, but can't seem to find it on 4PDA... Thanks!

@kt-Froggy i don't know if i'm allowed to do this, but satanik if you want the link removed from here tell me lol
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=753533&view=findpost&p=59165103 here is the first post, only russian lang
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=753533&view=findpost&p=59176110 here is the translated one, but has the device as p839v55 instead of idol3
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=753533&view=findpost&p=59196559 here is the one i edited from satanik to change the device to idol3
you need an 4PDA account (except for the translated p839v55 one), if @satana.nik.1996 wants to post it here i will do it too

Thank you! No idea how I missed that in the ROM thread ("Прошивки")... Duh!
My Russian is a bit better than my English, and I do have an account on 4PDA.
Of course, thanks to @satana.nik.1996, too!

@kt-Froggy yeah you are lucky tho, i just use translate
4PDA has some goods Roms too, @andrejchern for example did AOSP_6045Y and Xperia_6045Y, they are really good for battery life (i'm using Xperia_6045Y now)

Can this one deal with encrypted partitions?

Well since he posted the 4.7 already, i will post the one i modded for the 5.5 version, obs all the credits for satana.nik1996
This is TWRP 3.0.2.0 Santana.nik1996 edited for Idol 3 [5.5] 6045 Version, he posted one working already on 4PDA here https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=753533&view=findpost&p=59176110, but i just changed the p839v55 to idol3 (on default.prop in initrd)
as i said, very fast (the time to install roms is like 50% less more or something like that), tested to install multiple roms and no problems so far
the .img is here https://mega.nz/#!t54mgBbT!WcJiSByzyuTZFcRXOxXPSePKmioMOmiTU9TPfVbwW1k
Install from TWRP 3.0.0.0 or 3.0.1.0 with install image option, or if you are lucky via fastboot
PS: i suggest if this possible, to an admin, to move thsi thread from general to Android Development, if possible

Installed OK, but didn't have a chance to really test it yet... One little issue found so far - "Reboot Recovery" (from TWRP itself) doesn't seem to work... It boots straight to the OS. But I can reboot to recovery from the OS, and also by Pwr+VolUp from the "off" state, so not a big deal...

Twrp 3.0.0-0 do the same, it doesn´t boot on recovery again, it starts O.S.

@kt-Froggy EDIT: my bad, yes you are right lol, anyways when you put reboot, just press vol + (without power) and no problem, on 3.0.1.0 this worked well

now if is other thing, i didn't understand it D:

After I just got done flashing 3.0.1.0 haha, I'll give this a go.

I have one question, what is the difference between flashing rom with 2.74 version and 3.0.0? Is it possible to flash any rom on 2.74 version? Can nougat be flashed with 2.74?

Maybe something is different between 6039 and 6045 in these aspect

sometimes some roms can be flashed on old TWRP versions, and i would say (i can't say this is true) N, if it is released, it will need atleast TWRP 3.0.0.0
for example in my old Moto G 4G (XT 1040), i couldn't flash AOKP 7.1.1 on TWRP 3.0.2.0, i needed to upgrade to TWRP 3.0.3.0

[TWRP][YotaPhone2]TWRP 2.8.5.0 Recovery for YotaPhone2

TWRP 2.8.5.0 YotaPhone 2 recovery imageAfter the bare bones modded stock recovery for YotaPhone 2 it's time for something more advanced. The TeamWin Recovery Project 2, or TWRP2 is just that: a fully fledged, graphical, touch enabled, custom recovery.
This recovery image for YotaPhone 2 is still an alpha version, so expect some rough edges. Which leads me to:
Disclaimer
I am not responsible for damaged or bricked devices. If you follow instructions in this post, then YOU are making the choice to tinker with your device. You are likely to void your warranty by doing so, and on a bad day you might even damage or brick your device.
What is it?
It's a recovery image for YotaPhone 2 based on TWRP2 custom recovery, and the stock kernel from Yota Devices. You can boot it ad-hoc, or flash it permanently to the recovery partition. Use it to root, install software, make backups, update ROMs etc.
What can you do with it?
- adb root & shell access
- All TWRP 2.8.5.0 functionality (except MTP)
- install update zips (signed with testkeys (e.g. SuperSU), Yota Devices software, and also unsigned zips like Xposed framework.
- You can sideload packages, but also install them from internal storage (e.g. Download folder)
- make partition backups
- root your device
What can it NOT do?
- In this recovery image the MTP functionality of TWRP is disabled, it doesn't play nice with YD's kernel.
What do you need?
- YotaPhone 2 (YD201) with Lollipop 5.0
- Some technical confidence to cope with quirks that come with an alpha version
- USB cable with a PC or laptop on one end
Steps overview:
NOTE: I used less detail in this post than the previous recovery thread, please look there for more detail.
1) backup (sync stuff, copy photos off, use a backup app etc, use search if unsure how to)
2) Install adb and fastboot if not yet installed. (For Windows look e.g. here, for linux the fastest is probably to install Android SDK with platform tools, see here If this is not enough info to get you started, please use xda search!)
3) Unlock the bootloader if you haven't done so before (read warning below!)
4) Download recovery image: recovery_twrp_yd201_alpha2.img
5) boot or flash the recovery image
Unlocking bootloader:
Warning: It is currently not known how to re-lock the bootloader. This means you cannot completely undo the next step as of yet. This might have consequences for sending the device in for repairs, if they check for this, and deem it a (warranty) problem.
See stock recovery thread for unlock steps
BOOT the recovery image:
a) First: put the device in fastboot/download mode:
Power off with USB cable disconnected, then hold volume down key while inserting USB cable (which should already be in your PC on the other end).
You should see a black screen with a tiny white: downloading...
b) Boot the recovery image:
Code:
fastboot boot path/to/recovery_twrp_yd201_alpha2.img
Alternatively, flash the recovery image (overwriting the stock recovery):
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_twrp_yd201_alpha2.img
Problems & FAQ
Q: It doesn't work!!1!
A: Please provide plenty of detail about error messages, which step, what versions etc. Without providing any detail you'll look silly. TWRP has it's own logfile that you can copy to (virtual) SD card, and access from there.
Kernel sourcecode:
In this recovery image is Yota Device's version of the Linux kernel v3.4.0 for YotaPhone 2. Yota Devices are required by the GPLv2 license to release the source code for this kernel, but so far they haven't taken that step or even shown intention to do so as far as I know. The YotaPhone firmwares and also this recovery image are in effect violating the GPLv2 license if the situation does not change. Attempts to contact Yota Devices on the subject through support, press departement, and an attempt to contact Yota Device's management, have gone pretty much unanswered as of writing. I'm hoping they're just busy making great devices instead of being unwilling.
If you would like to help future custom ROM development for YotaPhone 2 please do the following:
Encourage Yota Devices through their twitter or facebook accounts to publish the Kernel sourcecode for YotaPhone 2, and ask them to support the open source Android community. You can also submit a request through their support page (hint: choose 'sales' as category, otherwise you'll have to enter lots of details. Be polite!).
Info & credits::
TWRP2 is created and maintained by TeamWin. Please donate through their site if you enjoy their work!
Recovery image for YP2: SteadyQuad

Thanks to: TeamWin for TWRP, @Dees_Troy for hints for getting it up and running, @Jeopardy for testing, @Chainfire for SuperSU and lastly Yota Devices for a great device.

I just approached Yota for the Yotaphone 2 kernel's source code, and they gave me a link to Yotaphone's developer page (https://yotaphone.com/developer/). It's not there (yet). Maybe they'll release the source code once they finalize the SDK...? That, or the recipient of my query didn't understand the question.
Regarding the recovery: works flawlessly. :good:

Yeah, I got the same boxed response and replied that it was not relevant, and explained why. Their SDK (for app development) has nothing to do with the kernel sourcecode, and at the moment their developer pages do not mention anything about kernel sources. I think that their support page tickets are handled by an external company (quicksupportlink.com), that is dependent on Yota for definitive answers, and they're probably instructed to send this reply. At least Yota will get reports from them, with hopefully lots of requests for kernel source. On the press page there's email addresses of 2 press ladies, you could try those too (as I did).
So nice to see this! Looking forward to trying, once mine comes.

Hi Jeopardy,
Next great mod by you! Congrats! :good:
BTW: Does it mean that your version of TWRP recovery doesn't work with 1.44 EU firmware?
Or if I flash this recovery it will work, but the kernel is one step back to 1.39 version?
Thanks in advance for the info.
Regards!

This recovery is done by SteadyQuad, only tested by me.
But I can answer your question: this recovery works just fine with 1.44 EU firmware. I have flashed it myself successfully. I'm quite sure it is not tied to the firmware version in any way.

Thanks, this archive was already known, it contains a kernel snapshot of end of june 2015. I put it on github with some small adjustments to make it build initially. (and it actually boots
I've also put up an initial device and vendor tree there, although both are pretty far from complete/correct at this point.

TWRP is only doing anything when you boot into recovery. When you're just using your phone normally, Android doesn't even know about TWRP. So your EPD freezing must be something else.
May be my phone is dieing?

Have you done a factory reset?
My EPD was freezing and system clock screwing up. Factory reset, wiped caches etc, then cleared out a few apps didn't need and some system crap, seems to be ok now. Battery drain still occurs but I'm resigned to that unfortunately, just hoping 5.1 fixes the issue (and that we get it soon.).
If nothing works you could try emailing [email protected], hopefully you get somewhere. Their customer service was very good initially for me but seems to take a very long time to get anything done nowadays.
Either way good luck and I hope your phone gets some decent function back eventually .

I got rid of it I tried everything downgraded wiped data etc clean install then did ota still freezes after a while. I did clean install of Rom twice. I think the screen is dying or something inside it is loose because the epd started off as freezes then moved to very light grey instead of black and would refresh but old pics and widget would be visible and it started to flicker from one side then it would start to work after a while then fade again etc. When these freezes happened I would get a blue screen when phone was rebooted and it would slow device down then reboot it self until the screen got unfrozen. I noticed even after installing rom new the screen would some time be frozen. It's only sometimes the screen would be reseted if I did a new installation.
I will miss my yotaphone. I will be getting a nexus 6p or v10.

Nubia Z17S - EN_common v1.02 on phone - MobileIron not installing

Hey friends,
As I already informed you in the "geekbuying firmware" thread, I have ordered a Nubia Z17S with "gobal rom". See here where I got it from: https://nl.aliexpress.com/store/pro...hone/708786_32837057331.html?isOrigTitle=true. I have 2 subjects to discuss with you. One is FOR you, one is where I need help .
GLOBAL ROM UPLOAD:
I got the phone in, just a few days ago. But it appears it really HAS a stock global ROM with full Google Play support, everything works! It is the EN_COMMON v1.02 ROM.
If you like, I can make a backup from this ROM and upload it for you guys, in order to see if you can cook a compatible Z17 ROM from it?
The only question: How do I do this, WITHOUT rooting my phone, if you have a tutorial for me, I will try for you.
Mobile Iron not installing:
Why I ordered a Z17S with the global ROM, is that I am NOT allowed to root my phone. Why: I need to have Mobile Iron installed, a secure enterprise cloud service, used for my work email. See here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobileiron&hl=en. Normally on my other phones (for instance the Z9 mini) it was no problem to install this app, as long I had an official rom on it. It was always on a Android 5 ROM. However, now, the APP is not installing and gives me the following error: "Your work has set up a work profile. If you like to use [email protected], use the version with badge that has been installed on your device". The problem is however, that my company does NOT have installed ANYTHING yet on my phone. Searching around on the internet shows that also Samsung users with Android 7 have this issue, as there is a secure folder installed that is not allowed by Mobile Iron, see here: https://forums.androidcentral.com/a...galaxy-note-7-unable-install-mobile-work.html. So, my question here is the following: Does the official Nubia ROM have something like a "secure folder" option, or anything like that? And if so, how can I uninstall that? I tried to look around myself, but no luck.
In summary: if you could help me with the Mobile Iron installation, I will help you with the Z17S ROM (and even if you cannot help me with the Mobile Iron installation ).
flash twrp,
make a backup
flash official recovery.
Sorry but for twrp I need to unlock the bootloader, which I can't do.
Can you make the backup using the stock recovery? It would be great to get the ROM. I found this on an official Nubia forum: http://bbs.nubia.cn/thread-1079140-1-1.html But haven't tried yet.

Finally I was managed to get it working. Now my phone is rooted with just two or three steps. Really easy to do .
1. In your phone, Open settings, about phone, tap many times on a build number to access the developer mode and enable USB debugging, enable also OEM unlock!
2. Download this file: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aibwba12yUANjd4Ss0xEQErPtMrfTw
2. Unzip the folder somewhere to your disk
3. Run recovery.bat
4. Close the opened website and in the opened command line, press 1 and enter to install drivers
5. Press 2 and enter to install TWRP, after the installation is finished, the phone remains in a fastboot mode but you will see press any key to continue in the command line (don't press anything on the computer!) you have to press volume down on your phone to choose reboot to recovery mode and confirm it by pressing the power button
6. Voila, you are in a TWRP. In TWRP first of all, if you have a set pattern or a code, type in the code or a pattern, select language and confirm by pressing the blue enter button. You can also choose your language (for me English). Swipe to allow modifications.
7. Navigate to advanced, tools and root device, swipe to confirm
8. Wipe cache/dalvik and reboot to system.
9. Download root checker and check if you are rooted.
10. If you want to boot to the recovery again, I think this is a temporary TWRP installation. If I tried to boot to TWRP again, I just got into the original recovery. BUT the root still remains! And if you want to unroot the device, you just tap to unroot device in TWRP.
11. If you want to get into TWRP, again repeat steps 3 and 5 - Just open the recovery.bat and hit 2 to install TWRP, then get into it and make a backup.
MOREOVER, I was able to make the backup! So if you could make the backup (I skipped the data part because I think it is not so important since there should be just some apps data and other things not the system files), but please make a backup of your rom and upload it somewhere. Please give it a try
Thanks in advance
Thanks, but as I mentioned, I cannot unlock, root or reflash the device, sorry!
unlock bootloader,
flash twrp,
make a backup
flash official recovery if you want
lock bootloader if you want.
you are still not rooted so your iron will go on working. any many no zero operation done to ROM - system so you are still unrooted.

I also couldn't unlock, root or anything else. But with this manual, you can do that. And then you can unroot your device easily if needed.

BTW. Guys, is there anyone who could make his backup even with the Chinese rom in TWRP?
I accidentally formated data and now the phone cannot boot again, the only thing I can do is get to the TWRP but I cannot do anything else. Please someone, make your backup and post it somewhere to download.
Thank you very much.

Sorry but you don't get me I am afraid ... I mean I am not going to risk my 600 euro phone to root unlock and reset, as the Z17s has no solid twrp and I do not have a international ROM to fall back at the moment. If something goes wrong, which is very likely (see your own situation at the moment), I will be stuck for weeks or longer, and having the risk to never be able to install Mobile Iron anymore.
So to be clear, I will be more than happy to make a backup of my system, but if this involves rooting, unlocking or reset, I cannot help you. Sorry!
My situation was totally different. It was just my fault that I did a full reset with all the data erased but I am back alive. Just flashed the old recovery and stock rom. So a quick and simple solution. Hopefully there will be someone who is not so afraid.
The method I posted is 100% safe. I have tested it and worked like a charm. I was managed to install Google Play and other services so I am happy now. Do not need the geekbuying rom. Because there are no updates which I would miss.
Anyway, thanks.

Great, thanks! Where did you get it from?
I just find this : http://www.nubia.com/th/support.php?a=phone&pid=65
Thanks! Nice to see it is downloading from this site:
http://rom.download.nubia.com/Europe&Asia/Z17S/
Too bad this "root folder" for the Z17S is forbidden. But nice to see the folder is named "europe & asia".

most probably, you can't
Please allow a couple of stupid questions:
-Is this ROM you linked ( NX595J_Z69_EN_VNG0N_V105.zip ) compatible with both the models? (6/64 GB and 8/128 GB?)
-Is OTA update possible once they're installed?
-Are they already equipped with google services and stuff?
Thanks to whom might answer

Please Recommend Me The Top 2/3 Most Stable Slim Roms - New Axon 7 User!

I hate asking this as each has his own preference, however, I have only just ordered my ZTE Axon device as it was such a good offer, being even cheaper than brand new 2018 mid rangers! I purchased the device brand new and sealed for just £193 ($274) so you cannot go wrong.
My current phone was the Sony Xperia XZ Premium but I am giving it away to my wife and need another to replace it.
After some reading it seems the first thing I need to do is install all drivers and run the Axon 7 Tool kit. This will unlock bootloader, root and flash recovery from my understanding.
Then I can proceed to installing a custom rom of my choice followed by immediately flashing a modem otherwise I will not have any signal. Would this be everything needed to successfully running a custom rom trouble free?
Lastly, I would like a simple rom, preferably based on stock/vanilla Android, slim and bloat free. Something very basic, bug free and made for pure speed and decent battery. What are the top recommended roms with this regard? I did look into these, anything better? What are the differences? Thank you so much for your advise.

As for the SL!M roms i made ( making some advertisement here ) i only can advise looking at these ones as they are aroma roms and can be debloated further. Battery tweak is included and choice between SuperSU and Magisk is possible. These roms are stock-based as to preserve, imo, the sound quality of the phone as it came out of the box. No bug issues imo and fully up to date :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slm-dfnr-t3716825
Based on MiFavor5.0 (CN) but fully applyable on all versions
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slm-dfnr-t3735003
Based on stock G version but fully applyable on all versions and with the latest security patches of the A2017G-N(ougat)-B09
But then again others can comment on my slim roms better then i can perhap :cyclops:
Futhermore i do not advice https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slm-version-t3704143 as it is was my first version of MiFavor 5.0. Instead use the first link.
Didn't used the last one you mentioned based on LOS but others can advice more into this.

Yeah, very exciting isn't it :good: It's a damn good phone, quick, nice quality screen and an amazing sound... !
I assume you'll get the G version ? The SL!M➃ is based on this G-version (btw, take a look at the DownloadCenter to have all necessary files) and keeps all things to stock. Just some minor mods and improvements, nothing fancy as to stay stock. With the battery tweak included i always get >7h SOT. But that depends of course on usage. But then again i do alot in a day . Some others have no benefit on the battery tweak but i'll hope you end up with a descent SOT.

Sounds good! I would be happy with around 7 hours SOT. Once received I'll let you know what version I receive, however, I'm guessing I'll get the Chinese version as it's coming from Dubai, UAE (Middle East) and most likely it'll come from China and not EU as it's much closer.
I have everything ready accept for a flashable TWRP. The link appears down for me and I was not able to find a flashable version, could you please give me a link of a working one? I was only able to find a non flashable version which is run via CMD/fastboot commands.
I would much rather a flashable recovery in which I can flash once installing your rom along with SuperSU or Magisk. Regards!

The TWRP is inside the toolkit, so you can flash it downthere imo. Never done this that way though as in those early days i used this one to do everything. But use the toolkit and you're good to go.

Ah good to hear, glad it's included in the kit. So I can simply use the one from the kit to flash recovery after flashing your rom? Because in the instructions it mentions we have to manually flash recovery after the rom.

That depends. I dont know what version of twrp is installed via the toolkit. Perhaps it checkes for the latest when it updates but not sure. But if a certain version is installed which is not the latest, put the latest twrp.img onto your int or extSD and flash via your twrp you've installed.
Second, if your phone would be an CN version and not a G, you'll have to install the Universal BL and your specific modem as described in the rom thread. You can find them in the link of the rom thread. So, after installing the Universal BL (which has an older version of twrp !) , you'd have to install the latest via twrp too. So just flash the twrp image and you're good to go.
Btw, i made a flashable zip before of that Universal BL which replaces the old twrp with the 3.1.1.0 version, which will do fine too.
Here's the link : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329066038 (it also works on the SLIM4 as it just replaces twrp)
So after installing this version, you dont need to flash another twrp (as it brings you to the 3.1.1.0 as said)

Uuhh. I think you'll get the G version. Anything else than China and US gets G. With that said, I recommend you two things:
- (If you get a G) Use Controllerboy's guide instead of the toolkit. Lately a lot of stuff is going wrong with the toolkit
-Whatever happens, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RELOCK THE BOOTLOADER.
-Once you have TWRP, just follow the instructions on each ROM. Never flash stuff from other models.
-Take the TWRP img either from raystef66's download center or from twrp.me

I did see on the forum users attempting to relock the bootloader and it worsened things, I will not attempt this.
Should be able to let you know tomorrow or the day after what version I get and hopefully when I successfully gain recovery and root access!
I just hope I don't get the dead microSD bug that many people have mentioned. Top of the range 64Gb/128Gb MicroSD cards can be costly so I would not like to have them corrupted!
@raystef66, Do you have any other download links for your rom aside from androidfilehost? I tried several different servers but all keep randomly freezing otherwise saying 5 hours, 6 hours, 11 hours and 15 hours. Extremely slow download.
If you want to try a more Android vanilla ROM, then I suggest AICP. Be sure to use the unofficial builds by genesixxbf3. They are very stable and have good features.

Yeah, sometime AFH can be cruel. Just depends. I tried the Washington DC just a moment and no problems there. I just advice, take one and let it take it's time. Haha, no, not yet received! Where I am living at the moment, the weekend is Friday and Saturday, Sunday to Thursday work, strange but that's the way it is.
The seller estimates the item to arrive on Sunday or Monday, hopefully Sunday.
In the end the Netherland's sever finally managed to get me the 2.1Gb download complete. I did try others but were slower. Good thing in your rom you included the 3 different models for the Axon 7. I'm yet to see which one I receive!

Not working, been trying for hours.
Not connecting despite all drivers installed, including Qualcom driver. Followed all instructions as stated. Stuck from number 20. When entering this command I get ''failed to connect''
When typing in adb devices it finds my device.
1) Backup all the data of your phone's internal memory that you don't want to lose. Copy it to your PC
2) Download the axon7tool from here: http://www.filedropper.com/axon7tool-15-win64
3) Download minimal adb and fastboot from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767103465
4) Unzip the minimal adb and fastboot file, place the folder with the files in it somewhere you can easily find it
5) Place the axon7tool exe in the same folder as adb.exe and rename it to "axon7tool.exe" (it's easier to work with that way)
6) Download the TWRP .img and .bin files from here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4...nlaZU1NRldoRjA
7) Place the TWRP .img file in the same folder as "adb.exe" and "axon7tool.exe", rename it to "recovery.img"
8) Make a copy of the "recovery.img" file and name it "recovery.bin". Leave it in the same folder
9) Go to settings in your phone and go to "About Phone". Tap "Build Number" 7 times to make the Developer Options available
10) Go to "Developers options" and tick "Allow OEM unlock" and "Android Debugging"
11) Connect your Axon 7 to your PC
12) Open a command window by holding shift and right-clicking in a blank space in the folder where the "adb.exe", " axon7tool.exe", "recovery.img" and "recovery.bin" files are located. Click "Open command window here"
13) Type "adb devices" and hit enter. You should see one device with some code listed
14) Type "adb reboot edl" and hit enter. Your device will reboot to EDL mode. It appears to be off, but it is in fact in EDL mode.
15) Go to Device Manager on your pc and verify your Axon 7 is listed as "QUSB_BULK"
16) In command, type "axon7tool -r gpt boot recovery" and hit enter
17) After it is executed, your phone will reboot. Wait until it has fully booted.
18) In command, type "adb reboot edl"
19) Verify you now have 3 backup files in your ADB folder for gpt, recovery and boot. These are backup files in case something goes wrong
20) In command, type "axon7tool -w recovery" - STUCK HERE - FAILED

You're on nougat ? Look into about phone for that.
Afaik, you'll have to be on MM. So downgrade/rollback if on Nougat (look into DownloadCenter for B10 or B11) and do the procedure all over again.
Imo it's due to that.
edit: sure you have the recovery.img and bin in your adb folder ?

[RECOVERY][TWRP][Unofficial] Galaxy Tab Active 2 - TWRP 3.2.3-0 [Exynos]

Disclaimer
**** All flashing is done at your own risk! ****
**** While this recovery should not break your device, don't come back here blaming anyone if it does! ****
This is a TWRP 3.2.3 build based on Android 7.1.2 source kernel for the Galaxy Tab Active 2 (codename: gtactive2lte) - Exynos. The "tar" file should be installed using Odin (tested on Odin 3.12.3).
Special Notes:
1. DON'T FORGET TO ENABLE "OEM UNLOCK" (located in Developers options, if its not there, you may have to wait for a few days to access that option, some users claim that its within 10 days before this option appears).
2. KNOX will be tripped once you flashed custom binaries to your phone.
3. Samsung Firmware OTA (aka System Updates) will no longer work once you flashed custom binaries.
(You can flash custom ROMs if you want to keep the OS up-to-date.)
4. It is HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED to purchase any access to any kind of private forums, ROMs or Kernels.(DO NOT GET FOOLED.)
Installation process:
1. Flash Stock ROM.
2. Flash recovery using Odin (AP = recovery.tar).
3. Load recovery immediately after flashing.
4. Format data (Will erase /data partition).
5. Reboot to recovery.
6. ADB push SuperSU to internal storage / insert SD-Card with SuperSU.zip.
7. Flash SuperSU using TWRP install option.
8. Reboot to system (May bootloop several times. Wait untill system loads).
Bugs:
1. ADB sometimes doesn't work in MTP mode. Need to manually change to PTP in order to get adb usage.
2. Bad label in ADB shell + bad characters appearing while writing through AD. Works well out of recovery and on recovery's terminal.

Special thanks to CaptainThrowback, Bigbiff and Dees_Troy on TWRP-freenode and Ashyx on xda-developers.
Please post any bugs you encounter. I will try to fix any issues that come up.
Thanks for the work and sharing. I'm excited to try. Having root would be great, but I'd also like to be able to make voice calls ( using bluetooth as the built-in speaker & microphone aren't adequate ). Do you think this is possible. What changes, if any, are required to have work with T397 Tab Active 2 ( US variant ) ? I'm sure that it's mobile frequencies are different than what the euro-spec'd T395, but otherwise I think identical.

Well, Samsung has a nice repo of their source kernels for every phone Samsung sources
I guess we just have to validate some data taken from boot.img from the stock rom and then build the same with the appropriate source kernel.

Had no idea the source was available for these devices, thanks for sharing. T397 source is in the repository. Let me know if there is something that I can do to assist. I've not compiled these sources although I've compiled other things. Possible to use this tablet as a phone with this ROM as stock T397 ( even after installing several different dialers does not dial ) ?

I can't check the dialer thing, as I don't even have cellular network on my Tablet.
I'll try to build the recovery for the T397 later today, but you will have to check it I guess, as I have no access to that one.

I disabled auto-reboot in ODIN per your instructions, but it wasn't clear to me how to power-off after download so as to be able to go into recovery without booting so after adequate time I just pulled the battery. I'll spend the evening playing with things and report back, but so far everything seems to be working

One thing I notice, 7.1.1 is what was/is installed on my tablet now. Not sure what version of Android available on Samsung Opensource or how to check it, but I suspect it is the same since nothing has been pushed OTA.
7.1.1 is what The T397U should have already been on before you started. Mine is and I have not installed this recovery as of yet. Just wanted to let you know it's where it should be.

Awesome. I really had my doubts being it the first build and all. I guess, there aren't really any major differences.
If it's possible, can you go through the TWRP checklist here
Some of the tests aren't really necessary, but it's a good checklist to go by anyway.
That way, I can officially add it to the OP.

Sorry for delay. I've done the following tests all with the expected results. The only thing I noticed compared to previous installations of TWRP that I've performed ( some years ago ) is that the load time of recovery seems long at 1:15. Also a message about "RECOVERY NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING" which I suspect is normal. Tablet has been working without incident. Thanks again.
Blocking checks
- Correct screen/recovery size
- Working Touch, screen
- Backup to internal/microSD
- Restore from internal/microSD
- reboot to system
-ADB ( yes, if this means being able to access from ADB while in recovery )
Medium checks
- Screen goes off (and on )
- F2FS/EXT4 Support, exFAT/NTFS where supported
- all important partitions listed in mount/backup lists
===> define important ? - depends on the device, i guess
= Assume we can still boot a recovery (aboot/lk is still there for fastboot), can restore everything left ?
- backup/restore to/from external (USB-OTG) storage
- Correct date
Minor checks
- MTP export
- reboot to bootloader
- reboot to recovery
- poweroff
- battery level
- USB mass storage export
- set brightness
- vibrate
Security Policy Updates should not be applied to this system ?
Since this is stock Samsung OS that is rooted I'm guessing this system is still SELinux "enforcing" so does this mean that I can/should say yes to Security Enhancements automatic updates from Samsung ? Any explanation or link on this matter appreciated.
Hey @Shedaim, thanks a lot for this recovery, would it be possible to release an update for oreo?

Hey, sorry for the very late answer.
I'm currently not working on Android and I've never tried on OREO, so my politically correct answer would be: "Right now there is no plan to work the same magic on OREO, but whoever wants, can try to use the device tree I created with a new official OREO kernel (didn't know they have one already)".
Anyway, keep checking the forum from time to time, I may have found the time to work on it
Links to the device tree and other tools used are in the main page of this thread.
Thank you,
Shedaim
I Pay 100$ for making my Galaxy Tab Active 2 booting when its charging
Hey guys,
i hope somebody can help me.
Im trying since 2 Weeks to make my Galaxy Tab Active 2 booting when its charging.
I try all the ways i found (fastboot, LPM change and Autoboot App) and nothing was successful.
So i hope to find with this way somebody who would help me to get the feature.
I need it because i installed the Active 2 on my Harley Davidson as my navigation.
And the problem is that i make a Novalauncher thats looking like the original Harley Davidson one and starts without a code.
So when i put the Tablet in the Mask i dont get a method to press to power button and when i make a method (hole trough the mask or something) then everybody can start up my tablet and use it.
So if somebody can help me with that i will pay them 100$ for helping!
you can contact me at [email protected].
thanks alot

I used the methods and recovery here for my tablet which is a T397U...works flawlessly. The same should work for the wifi T390 you have aswell.
Flash process
I am new to the rooting process. This will be my first time. What is the actual flash process? How do I flash the rom on my tablet?
All the links are dead can anyone please post this recovery
i can Flash this twrp-3.2.3-0-gtactive2lte-7.1.2.tar, Odin says pass, but there is no TWRP. it boots into System. when i stop and boot to recovery, there is stll custom recovery from T395XXU5CSH2.
Any hints?

Is it possible to unlock a P8 lite 2017 today ?

Hi,
I'm French and my level in english is not very high.
So I try to unlock my wife's phone but I havbe understood that it is no more possible with the classic way with huawei support.
Does exist another way tu do this ? Or is it definitivly impossible ?
No french forum can explain this.
As I can see many custom Roms here I keep a hope !
Hi, yes it should be still possible.
DC-Unlocker is what you need. The operation has a cost in credits, 4$ are necessary to unlock the device since it's the cost that DC asks from retrieve bootloader code from your device.
If you're definitely motivated to do it, it's your only chance but luckily it's an acceptable prize.

I Have unlock my phone yesterday with dc unlocker

You can downgrade (idk if it is possible from emui 8 I don't even own this phone) and then you can follow this tutorial to unlock your bootloader (FOR FREE) https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/guide-unlock-bootloader-root-device-t3977067
Edit : found this guide with HiSuite it may work https://youtu.be/xFCLpgGZEJM

Yeah, but not for Huawei P8 Lite 2017 version... I found this to be possible just for older phones (like the original P8 lite) which can be downgraded to Android 5. Newer ones can't be flashed with unsigned firmware (= firmware which is not straight from damn Huawei who decided not to provide the bootloader codes in the first place) so the only way apparently is to use paid software like DC-Unlocker as stated in this official XDA thread --> https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-honor-unlock-bootloader-fee/

Unlocked the bootloader yesterday! I have Huawei P8 Lite 2017 PRA-LX1 and had latest Emui 8 build on it... Bought the code for 4€ from DC-Unlocker, and required around 2 minutes for unlocking. You can follow this guide --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xYybHAlWaQ
I tried so hard to get the code for free, and I know modding should not cost people money. But at the end of the day, I think those 4 euros were worth it
Yeah,4 Euros is ok and the only method!!!

Dear all,
sorry in advance for the silly question but in this regard I am dumb as a brick.
I run DC Unlocker, got the phone unlocked but now the only thing I have is the stock boot telling me the phone is unlocked and therefore cannot be trusted. From there on, I do not know how to procede in order to install TWRP recovery + LineageOS 17.1. I tried to install TWRP but it only runs after a factory reset with the "stock" Huawei eRecovery and every time I reboot (I even got to the point of installing LineageOS via fastboot) it is always back to square one.
Again, sorry, but the last phone I "worked on" was an HTC Desire HD some 8 years ago, therefore you can guess I lost some years of advancements
Thank you for any help regarding the steps I am missing, links to guides much much appreciated.
Best and ciao from Italy

Don't fully get your question. Current situation is: Phone unlocked with DC Unlocker. When I switch it on I get the "phone is unlocked" message and if I don't do anything it starts booting stock OS, otherwise goes into Huawei eRecovery. If from Huawei eRecovery I do a full wipe, it starts TWRP. But even if I work on TWRP, when I reboot it is all back to "phone is unlocked". And again, and again. Hope it is clearer.
Thanks

Yeah I get it now, the problem is if you wanna go to twrp sometimes you have to press volume up and hold it until logo shows up, sometimes you had to hold both volume buttons etc. It's kinda wierd but the factory format from erecovery is in twrp disabled due to this because sometimes it wont let you boot until format (that triggers almost anything like fastly restarting to and from recovery etc.).
So keep calm it's "normal".

Just for your information, TWRP on this device is not fully supported. Every TWRP version you may find on XDA forums for this particular device is different. In my case TWRP back up doesn't work, wipe cache doesn't work, format data only breaks the system partition , flash GSI's from TWRP also doesn't work XDXD
The only thing I could do from TWRP was flash Magisk and hope that nothing will go wrong in the future ...XD got it? Flash and forget ???

Well, I didn't had any knowledge of it. Turns out my EMUI version was more recent one that's why I had more issues with TWRP.
And I was just sharing my experience with Honor 8 lite.

Thank you for your support. To reinstate some order in the procedure, yesterday I reinstalled EMUI from eRecovery and now I am back to "zero-point-one", aka right after DC Unlocker: when I switch on the phone it says it is unlocked and then launches stock OS. From now on what should I do to have in the end LineageOS 17.1 installed? Again, thanks for your time
Some advice from a beginner

Hi!
So, I installed Lineage OS 17.1 on my sister's phone just two days ago, maybe I can give you some advice being myself a beginner. So, first of all, I guess you have enabled OEM unlock (otherwise you could not flash TWRP I guess? I don't think this is the point anyway) If not so, go to Developer Options --> Enable OEM unlock and you will see both the bootloader and FRP unlocked.
The try to follow the DarkJoker360's Lineage OS 17.1 install guide step by step (don't forget to flash the los_patches_prague.zip!). The right version of TWRP is important too for compatibility issues, so install the version he provided.
Anyway, as @DunoCZ pointed out, for entering TWRP recovery you have to press Volume UP button + Power button and keep them pressed until you get to the TWRP. Otherwise, what the device does is either booting up or go to the screen like "Press Volume UP for at least 3 seconds to go to erecovery" and if you do that, it will go into Huawei's own recovery.
Another thing is... Did you do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik/art cache) in TWRP before trying to flash the new ROM? (don't just do the factory reset in Huawei's recovery, I read somewhere it doesn't wipe everything like the advanced one in the custom recovery)

Because as you wrote here, the stock OS booted up before you installed stock from again via Huawei erecovery. So my wild guess is that the wipe you did before flashing Lineage OS wasn't a full wipe?
---------- Post added at 10:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:06 AM ----------
By the way, after installing Lineage OS 17.1 I found out there were indeed some very important problems in the ROM as noticed by other testers too...
The reason why I changed the ROM on the device was mainly because of two reasons:
1) Short battery life
2) Not enough memory
And unfortunately, on Lineage OS 17.1:
1) Battery life not good enough. Unless you fix it by patching a new kernel, be always wary of apps running on your device etc., the battery ran short even after replacing the internal battery. Alas. Besides, I wanted something stable for my sis who threatened me to buy an iPhone if I couldn't fix her phone lol
2) Very big problem with memory: I couldn't find a way to write to the SD card as other users pointed out. It is read by the device, but apparently it is read only and even with root permissions I couldn't find a way to obtain write permission for the apps. Perhaps some options in fstab mount file should be changed, but honestly, I tried with my below-average knowledge of Linux and gave up :crying:
But then... I tried Lineage OS 15.1 and this one worked much, much better. Battery life is super good and has the adoptable storage option for the SD card! This way, instead of those 9 gigs of memory now the phone has more than 70! And honestly, this ROM solved both the most important problems of this phone
(PS: sorry for the long posts lol)
(PPS: if you decide to switch to 15.1, remember to decrypt the memory following this post otherwise you won't be able to install more that a bunch of apps on the phone. Besides, remember to flash Dil3mm4 's TWRP recovery)
