Please Recommend Me The Top 2/3 Most Stable Slim Roms - New Axon 7 User! - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I hate asking this as each has his own preference, however, I have only just ordered my ZTE Axon device as it was such a good offer, being even cheaper than brand new 2018 mid rangers! I purchased the device brand new and sealed for just £193 ($274) so you cannot go wrong.
My current phone was the Sony Xperia XZ Premium but I am giving it away to my wife and need another to replace it.
After some reading it seems the first thing I need to do is install all drivers and run the Axon 7 Tool kit. This will unlock bootloader, root and flash recovery from my understanding.
Then I can proceed to installing a custom rom of my choice followed by immediately flashing a modem otherwise I will not have any signal. Would this be everything needed to successfully running a custom rom trouble free?
Lastly, I would like a simple rom, preferably based on stock/vanilla Android, slim and bloat free. Something very basic, bug free and made for pure speed and decent battery. What are the top recommended roms with this regard? I did look into these, anything better? What are the differences? Thank you so much for your advise.

As for the SL!M roms i made ( making some advertisement here ) i only can advise looking at these ones as they are aroma roms and can be debloated further. Battery tweak is included and choice between SuperSU and Magisk is possible. These roms are stock-based as to preserve, imo, the sound quality of the phone as it came out of the box. No bug issues imo and fully up to date :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slm-dfnr-t3716825
Based on MiFavor5.0 (CN) but fully applyable on all versions
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slm-dfnr-t3735003
Based on stock G version but fully applyable on all versions and with the latest security patches of the A2017G-N(ougat)-B09
But then again others can comment on my slim roms better then i can perhap :cyclops:
Futhermore i do not advice https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slm-version-t3704143 as it is was my first version of MiFavor 5.0. Instead use the first link.
Didn't used the last one you mentioned based on LOS but others can advice more into this.
Good Luck and ENJOY !

^ Thank you very much raystef66 for your speedy response! I will go for this version - https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slm-dfnr-t3735003
Fingers crossed I should receive my Axon 7 Sunday or Monday at the very latest. First Thing I'll run the Axon 7 Toolkit so that I can unlock the bootloader, have recovery and root then I'll be able to flash your rom, looking forward into doing so!
I'll keep you informed in the coming days when complete. :good:

Yeah, very exciting isn't it :good: It's a damn good phone, quick, nice quality screen and an amazing sound... !
I assume you'll get the G version ? The SL!M➃ is based on this G-version (btw, take a look at the DownloadCenter to have all necessary files) and keeps all things to stock. Just some minor mods and improvements, nothing fancy as to stay stock. With the battery tweak included i always get >7h SOT. But that depends of course on usage. But then again i do alot in a day . Some others have no benefit on the battery tweak but i'll hope you end up with a descent SOT.

Sounds good! I would be happy with around 7 hours SOT. Once received I'll let you know what version I receive, however, I'm guessing I'll get the Chinese version as it's coming from Dubai, UAE (Middle East) and most likely it'll come from China and not EU as it's much closer.
I have everything ready accept for a flashable TWRP. The link appears down for me and I was not able to find a flashable version, could you please give me a link of a working one? I was only able to find a non flashable version which is run via CMD/fastboot commands.
I would much rather a flashable recovery in which I can flash once installing your rom along with SuperSU or Magisk. Regards!

The TWRP is inside the toolkit, so you can flash it downthere imo. Never done this that way though as in those early days i used this one to do everything. But use the toolkit and you're good to go.

Ah good to hear, glad it's included in the kit. So I can simply use the one from the kit to flash recovery after flashing your rom? Because in the instructions it mentions we have to manually flash recovery after the rom.

That depends. I dont know what version of twrp is installed via the toolkit. Perhaps it checkes for the latest when it updates but not sure. But if a certain version is installed which is not the latest, put the latest twrp.img onto your int or extSD and flash via your twrp you've installed.
Second, if your phone would be an CN version and not a G, you'll have to install the Universal BL and your specific modem as described in the rom thread. You can find them in the link of the rom thread. So, after installing the Universal BL (which has an older version of twrp !) , you'd have to install the latest via twrp too. So just flash the twrp image and you're good to go.
Btw, i made a flashable zip before of that Universal BL which replaces the old twrp with the 3.1.1.0 version, which will do fine too.
Here's the link : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329066038 (it also works on the SLIM4 as it just replaces twrp)
So after installing this version, you dont need to flash another twrp (as it brings you to the 3.1.1.0 as said)

Uuhh. I think you'll get the G version. Anything else than China and US gets G. With that said, I recommend you two things:
- (If you get a G) Use Controllerboy's guide instead of the toolkit. Lately a lot of stuff is going wrong with the toolkit
-Whatever happens, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RELOCK THE BOOTLOADER.
-Once you have TWRP, just follow the instructions on each ROM. Never flash stuff from other models.
-Take the TWRP img either from raystef66's download center or from twrp.me

Will do. You are right, the toolkit automatically checks for the latest update and it finds version 3.1.1.0.

I did see on the forum users attempting to relock the bootloader and it worsened things, I will not attempt this.
Should be able to let you know tomorrow or the day after what version I get and hopefully when I successfully gain recovery and root access!
I just hope I don't get the dead microSD bug that many people have mentioned. Top of the range 64Gb/128Gb MicroSD cards can be costly so I would not like to have them corrupted!

@raystef66, Do you have any other download links for your rom aside from androidfilehost? I tried several different servers but all keep randomly freezing otherwise saying 5 hours, 6 hours, 11 hours and 15 hours. Extremely slow download.

If you want to try a more Android vanilla ROM, then I suggest AICP. Be sure to use the unofficial builds by genesixxbf3. They are very stable and have good features.

Yeah, sometime AFH can be cruel. Just depends. I tried the Washington DC just a moment and no problems there. I just advice, take one and let it take it's time. Some way or another the download speed gets stable enough And then again, you still have a bit of time don't you or has it dropped of yet with the postman :cyclops: Do I Hear a heartbeat there ? :good:

Haha, no, not yet received! Where I am living at the moment, the weekend is Friday and Saturday, Sunday to Thursday work, strange but that's the way it is.
The seller estimates the item to arrive on Sunday or Monday, hopefully Sunday.
In the end the Netherland's sever finally managed to get me the 2.1Gb download complete. I did try others but were slower. Good thing in your rom you included the 3 different models for the Axon 7. I'm yet to see which one I receive!

Not working, been trying for hours.
Not connecting despite all drivers installed, including Qualcom driver. Followed all instructions as stated. Stuck from number 20. When entering this command I get ''failed to connect''
When typing in adb devices it finds my device.
1) Backup all the data of your phone's internal memory that you don't want to lose. Copy it to your PC
2) Download the axon7tool from here: http://www.filedropper.com/axon7tool-15-win64
3) Download minimal adb and fastboot from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767103465
4) Unzip the minimal adb and fastboot file, place the folder with the files in it somewhere you can easily find it
5) Place the axon7tool exe in the same folder as adb.exe and rename it to "axon7tool.exe" (it's easier to work with that way)
6) Download the TWRP .img and .bin files from here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4...nlaZU1NRldoRjA
7) Place the TWRP .img file in the same folder as "adb.exe" and "axon7tool.exe", rename it to "recovery.img"
8) Make a copy of the "recovery.img" file and name it "recovery.bin". Leave it in the same folder
9) Go to settings in your phone and go to "About Phone". Tap "Build Number" 7 times to make the Developer Options available
10) Go to "Developers options" and tick "Allow OEM unlock" and "Android Debugging"
11) Connect your Axon 7 to your PC
12) Open a command window by holding shift and right-clicking in a blank space in the folder where the "adb.exe", " axon7tool.exe", "recovery.img" and "recovery.bin" files are located. Click "Open command window here"
13) Type "adb devices" and hit enter. You should see one device with some code listed
14) Type "adb reboot edl" and hit enter. Your device will reboot to EDL mode. It appears to be off, but it is in fact in EDL mode.
15) Go to Device Manager on your pc and verify your Axon 7 is listed as "QUSB_BULK"
16) In command, type "axon7tool -r gpt boot recovery" and hit enter
17) After it is executed, your phone will reboot. Wait until it has fully booted.
18) In command, type "adb reboot edl"
19) Verify you now have 3 backup files in your ADB folder for gpt, recovery and boot. These are backup files in case something goes wrong
20) In command, type "axon7tool -w recovery" - STUCK HERE - FAILED

You're on nougat ? Look into about phone for that.
Afaik, you'll have to be on MM. So downgrade/rollback if on Nougat (look into DownloadCenter for B10 or B11) and do the procedure all over again.
Imo it's due to that.
edit: sure you have the recovery.img and bin in your adb folder ?

Need Beginner's Guide, so Custom Rom can be installed

***UPDATE***
Thanks to reply, I have now successfully done everything I set out to do, and created follow-up guide!
You can find it HERE
Original Post below:
Hello Everyone!
I'd like to start off saying I used to have a Nexus 4, with TWRP and Lollipop-based CyanogenMod. I was able to install this all by myself, and keep both TWRP and the ROM updated. I also flashed custom radio to unlock the LTE capability on that phone. My tool of choice to help customize the phone was Nexus Root toolkit.
I was able to follow guides posted long ago on these forums, to do what I wanted with the Nexus 4 back in 2013/2014, but it seems I'm not so capable these days. I've hit such a roadblock with lack of root and constant stutters/slowdowns with everyday use on my current device, the Axon 7, that I must get away from the stock software. I heard it was not so easy with other devices, and while a few devs have posted wonderful guides for users, it's just not enough for a true beginner like me. From skimming guides posted, it seems like devs already expect you to have installed custom recovery, or unlocked bootloader. Then when I try to do these things, so I can move onto custom ROM, it seems the guides are out of date or just not step-by-step enough for me to use, and I don't want to take a risk and brick my device trying things that I'm not sure about. I'm a power user through and through, but not so up-to-date or knowledgeable enough to be able to follow the guides already on the forums. Consider me 1 out of 5 on tech level for Android software.
Here's the model/software already on my device: Stock everything, from bootloader and recovery, to ROM.
Model: A2017U, Nougat 7.0 on B15 ROM
What I still need clarification on:
with my device already running on nougat, do I need to install the nougat universal bootloader/radio I saw in earlier guides?
will LineageOS have any downgrades in regard to audio quality, on either the headphone output or speakers?
will my ROM of choice have Daydream VR support? if not what would be needed?
this is not a big deal, but do I need a special app or entire custom ROM if I'm interested in a temporary unroot to use apps like Android Pay?
Here's what I want on my device: TWRP, LineageOS with root.
If anyone, expert users and devs alike, could reply with current known-good info about the following, I and a lot of other users would be eternally grateful:
unlocking the bootloader, installing TWRP, and LineageOS, in a stupidly long but simple step-by-step process.
Quick follow-up info:
What I can do so far: download current LineageOS nightly, correct version of root .zip, and TWRP from official websites
NO, I'm not good with using ADB on Windows to get things done. I had to ask a friend to help me install it on windows, the guide he sent was much easier than the one i was using, and he still had to walk me through how to use it once installed to help me unlock bootloader/root on another device, Zenphone Zoom if anyone is interested.
PLEASE, don't link me to other guides for any part of this process, if the steps are thorough and relevant, please copy here, of course with all due credit given to original poster.
Feel free to let me know if more info about my knowledge level or device is needed to help you work on my request.
Thanks for reading, here's to several years more of everyone enjoying this wonderful device!
ok there is three real steps, but it can be aheadache, mainly because you didn't unlock before going to nougat.
Step 1. Downgrade to B29 Marshmallow - go here https://www.zteusa.com/axon-7/ and on the support tab in software updates is a full B29 software package. Download it, unzip it once, then put the update.zip file on your SD card.
- on the phone, in developers options, turn on OEM unlocking (it is needed to flash from sd card)
- boot phone to recovery, choose update from sd card, pick the update.zip from the sdcard, the phone will flash the B29 software. It is a bit slow, let it do what it needs to do.
Step 2. Unlock phone and install TWRP - go here https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/edl-emergency-dl-mode-twrp-unlock-t3553514 download the miflash program, fastboot unlock program, and twrp for B29.
- instructions are all there, just do what it says.
Step 3, Install LineageOS - https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/unofficial-lineageos-14-1-zte-axon-7-t3545679 very straight forward. Don't forget to install first the bootloader, then the rom, then gapps.
What makes this so hard is not being easily able to unlock in nougat. Most of us here unlocked way before marshmallow
No need to downgrade to b29.

I was thinking this too. Should be as simple as the steps below
1) Flash signed twrp using axonroot tool - this pry's open the door
2) Using twrp, flash fastboot (b20_fbop or something?) - opens door wider
3) Enable usb debugging and oem unlocking in developer options
4) reboot to fastboot/bootloader mode
5) fastboot oem unlock - door is now wide open
Done.

Is that a "should work" or "does work" because I'm trying to root and install LOS also on stock non rooted nougat Axon 7 and so far I've gotten nowhere and no one seems to be able to give me a list that says Yes this works
Help needed
I followed the instructions and is apparently in a boot loop. Initially it was working but now it is not. I can't even wipe the device to start from scratch. Is there another ROM available to try?

Ok, I've edited your post to clear some of the clutter and numbered everything so I can answer everything.
1. No, bootloader updates are only for users who haven't updated to B15 (through official means)
2. Only audio issues are with the front facing speakers. The way they sound is if you turn them up to 100% and then push it even higher to like 140%. So if you keep it at about 71% they sound normal. Check this guide here to get even better quality on overall sound (headphones, speakers)
3.B15 and LOS both work with Daydream. I currently use LOS with my Daydream headset currently.
4.Magisk with this kernel here. Currently have fully functioning Android Pay with LOS.
5. This is a big problem. If you're not comfortable with ADB you should maybe rethink messing with this phone. EDL mode (which is how I flash TWRP and subsequently the B20 bootloader to unlock) is very similar to ADB and the tools needed to flash in EDL can brick your device. Learning how to use ADB isn't bad but it's good as a fallback so you're not relying on strangers to help you out in a pinch (which most will, I just like having the ability to do things mostly myself).

I'll keep on saying this as much as I need to, I get where you're coming from. There's a lot of data about the correct way of doing things. Best thing to do is read and search. When I got my phone B29 was the new hotness and there was a bunch of older data floating around that I had to sift through. But I did it, I sifted and found my own way and combined two different methods to get my phone rooted and flashed with LOS. Honestly, the trial and error, the searching, the sifting is totally worthwhile because while this device is /DIFFERENT/ compared to methods for HTC and Samsung products, it's not harder. It's better to get yourself properly antiquated to the device you plan on flashing/hacking/rooting because there is /always/ a chance for bricking. Then another thread will be created asking for help to unbrick. Take the time, read now, read everything, understand your device, then push forward.

I quoted this because this thread is like the third I've seen in the last couple days. But to offer some help, this is the guide that I've followed with two phones one running B29 stock and one running B15 Stock. It remains the same because of the use of EDL. It's also good in case you want to go back to complete stock (which at the time was speculated would brick your device) but I read between the lines and discovered that it's just not a big deal. Once you get TWRP installed, make sure your Data partition is EXT4, flash LOS, flash GApps and you're good to go.
The hardest part of the process, is getting your drivers to be recognized properly for the EDL flashing tool to work. Anti-Virus softwares tend to throw false positives with tools like the EDL Flashing tool. I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 JUST to have a flashing station ready JIC. Once I did that, smooth sailing.

I've already used EDL mode from that page to put a fresh copy of stock nougat to, among other things, reduce the potential issues upgrading causes. So all I should have to do is flash B15-NEW_TWRP (Nougat) from that page and then fastboot unlock?
from there reset data/cache, flash custom ROM.
flash gapps
reboot, install apps.

Thank you for the guide, but I managed to get everything done without having to downagrade from Nougat. I was having issues with my Windows variant recognizing my phone after drivers were installed so I used Linux Mint 18.1 and everything went smooth as a whistle. I think the mods should pin your thread post.
I followed the rootjunkie YouTube videos, worked perfectly and the files were all available.

Is there an up to date guide for Rooting A2017G B04?

I am looking unlock and root my European Axon 7 running Android 7.1, and all of the guides seem to be for The US version and for Android marshmallow, do I need to revert my phone to an older version (if so how would I go around doing so?). Is there any up to date guides for rooting my version of the phone?

I used this guide 2 weeks ago to unlock my wife's german axon 7, her phone was on 7.1 stock too, but no issue, you don't have to be on marshmallow. Only advice I can give you is to read the guide 2 times or more and take your time.
Btw after you done everything use the b05 modem, my wife has no call issues with this version. I flashed the dark rom to her phone, works nearly perfect.

Why though? I also used that one, but you should try axon7toolkit. It seemingly does everything automatically and with an ok CMD interface

Yes that's a nice option too, but reading, understanding and knowing what you're doing always works. I'm not a fan of Kit's.
personal choice I think. But you're right.

It seems like very few people actually use the kit. Kinda defeats the purpose.
But yeah, that guide was how I learnt how to install TWRP via axon7tool whenever I needed it.

Step by Step, I managed to unlock it and flash the bootstack, but I hit an error when trying to flash LOS and so decided to reboot the system and try again, however when rebooting the system I got the error "Your device software can't be checked for corruption, Please lock the bootloader". And I cant seem to access TWRP anymore, just the stock recovery.
Im just wondering if I can just flash stock because I cant use my phone at all atm

Then flash twrp again, if your on stock recovery. You need twrp. Something must replaced twrp with the stock recovery.
After you flashed twrp use the files from the official Los thread
Bootloader and modem.

Unfortunately I cant seem to view the phone as an adb device, unless i select the "Apply update from adb" option in the stock recovery, however this only lets me sideload and i cant reboot it to edl mode or anything like that to install TWRP.
What happens if you are on stock recovery and type adb reboot edl. Another way to get to edl mode can be to shut down the phone and press both volume keys while connecting the USB cable, I read that somewhere here, may need some trys.
Btw,
"Your device software can't be checked for corruption" this is normal if your unlocked.

Good, you did it. Yes, after you flashed the latest official twrp,
flash the bootloader zip and modem zip which are linked at the first page of the Los thread, then your prefered rom with gapps and root if you like.
DON'T relock your bootloader !!!
Have fun!

New 6P owner, returning to Android after a few years away, seeking recommendations

Hey, was big into the android scene years ago, switched to other platforms for a bit just to play with them. Got a used 64 gig 6p and was thinking about dropping a custom rom onto it, but I don't know what's good anymore. What's the most stable, daily driver, minimalist rom out there? Wouldn't mind SOME extra features like task/notification bar customization and things like that. Stability and rock solid performance with great battery life are the concerns. Thank you!

I'm running f2fs file system with ABC oreo build & superUber kernel. I'm on latest radio & bootloader from 8.1. it has been pretty solid. I was on Pure Nexus nougat & Flash kernel; this set-up is tried & true. The Superxe ROM is aroma based and has 8.1 preview although I haven't got to try it yet. Hopefully this might point you in the right direction; there is a f2fs twrp build(s) in the 6p development thread if your interested.

Awesome reply, thank you for the heads up. F2FS is new to me, I'm guessing
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ne...recovery-twrp-2-8-7-0-touch-recovery-t3234976
is the thread you were talking about? I need to get it bootloader unlocked and rooted still, i'll probably tackle it when i get home and drop that version of TWRP onto it. Thanks again!
so it looks like the tools like Wug's are all very outdated, are they safe to use anyway on my device that has all the latest stock stuff? like 8.0 and my version aren't listed in Wug's at all.

Here's the link to the unofficial twrp for 6p with f2fs support. Don't forget to check the box in twrp "Use rm -rf instead of formatting" after changing data and cache to f2fs. Make sure your rom and kernel support f2fs with kernel being mandatory for best results. Here's the link:

I'm sure that unlocking the phone with the toolkit is safe. It's the method I used. Also in the link above or in the 6p section it should have any info you may need. You can flash recovery by vol dn & power button into bootloader(fastboot), and once you "cd /path tofolder with recovery image/" & "fastboot devices" to make sure you can see your 6p and drivers are installed correctly, you can rename twrp.img to recovery.img & they command is:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I recommend going to xda 6p section; general, & questions, & answers & reading up on everything just to be on the safe side and very important; make backup at all times just to make sure if there is a "booboo" you can easily restore. If you need adb & fastboot installed, there is a thread here on xda "15 sec adb & fastboot installer".
I hope this could help and I hope you enjoy as much as I have.
Latest ROMs which gives me good performance and battery life are paranoid (still nougat, but always a winner), latest 8.1 with pixel 2 mod and aicp rom with kernvatore kernel.
Buying a 6P for good battery life may have been a mistake...

Battery life on stock has been as good as my iPhones 6s. Does charge slower though, even when it's rapid.

Clockwork mod is no more, TWRP is the new standard recovery.
Nexus/Pixel line by google gives you the minimalistic ROM you would need,ie. stock ROM
Try stock rom for a while. Heck, i got so used to stock , I havent rooted my phone since ages. Atm i have moved on to pixel, and i am perfectly comfortable with stock ROM. I guess custom ROMs only attracted me when i had devices whose software cycle were abandoned by their OEM's.

Just now finally rooted etc. My issue with stock was it would crash and reboot sometimes when unlocking it while something was playing over bluetooth. Not going nuts with advanced feature roms, but honestly at this point trust the devs here over the crazies that Google hires these days. Just keeping it safe simple and solid.
You should try the SuperXE Custom ROM on 8.0 with the Pixel 2 features/addons. You should also give PureNexus a try, if you're not so satisfied with Oreo just yet. I'm currently running the Android 8.1 developer preview and I love it, the battery life is great and the ROM is fluid with little bugs.
alright, i thought i had rooted, i guess not. I'm unlocked, i used wug's to root, but it's not sticking. I don't have super user, and i cannot boot into recovery without using ADB. If recovery is selected from the bootloader menu it just brings me to the default android recovery with no options and I have to hold the power button down. I've tried manually flashing the recovery via fastboot and it's the same story. I tried booting into twrp via fastboot and flashing the superuser zip there but it's not in my app drawer. Everything seems to be successful when the operations are running. What gives?

the recovery does not stick on stock ROM if you don't flash either supersu or magisk. So you need to put the .zip of either one of those on your phone, then boot to bootloader and fastboot flash the recovery. Next, you boot into the recovery and flash the zip that you put on your phone.
you are now rooted, and your recovery will stick.
I'm currently on stock 8.0 waiting for paranoid android 8.0 update

I had flashed the super user zip in the wug kit myself while in TWRP but it still didn't stick. I mentioned that previously but i said a lot of other stuff too i'm not suprised you missed it. I guess I'm probably flashing the wrong SU and will look for another.
edit - grabbed the latest stable super user and it seems good now
What's this vendor image that's a thing now? You have to be tethered to a PC to flash most roms due to it nowadays it seems. Radios used to come in zips i could flash in twrp as well, what happened to that?

[HELP] I would like to go into developer options but I can not

Hello to all,
first of all sorry for my English, i'm using google translate, I do not know if you can help me here.
I bought this jewel from Gearbest and arrived yesterday.
I would like to unlock the bootloader and root it following this wonderful guide , but I can not get into developer options, I get the error "the settings application crashed abnormally"
I wanted to do this via the toolkit, but in EDL mode the phone is not recognized, maybe because in developer options I have to select the OEM UNLOCK.
The only good thing is that it recognizes usb debugging mode (at least I think) because I see the debug notification icon.
I can not understand where it came from, I went into bootloader mode but did not release me information.
From the onscreen screen I can only provide these info:
model number zte a2017g
version android 6.0.1
kernel version 3.18.20
build number zte a2017gv1.0.0b11
baseband version th.2.0.c1.9-00050-m8996faaaanazm
The MiFlavor version is 4.0
The smartphone does not receive OTA updates. I downloaded the global version (b05) of Nougat, the update with Android started I did not find it (I renamed the rom file in update.zip and put in the root of the SD CARD). I tried through recovery mode but it does not do anything to me, it's as if the smartphone was locked in everything and for everything.
I'm doing well ? How do I update when I download the rom? Can you please help me? Is there any system to interact with this smartphone and unlock it? I do not want to keep a phone that I can not update and root it.
Thanks in advance to who will help.
UPDATE:
I tried to manually install the downloaded ROM, but in recovery mode it does not flash the new rom ... the phone does not even try it !!!
It's as if the phone was locked in everything and I only have to keep the installed rom.
Some idea ?

Hey I would recommend clearing the data for settings if you can. To do this go to your launcher, find the settings icon and either drag or hold down or do whatever it takes to get to the app info. I haven't used stock in a long time so idk. But then go into storage and clear data. Then go and try again.
I do have one question though. How did you get usb adb debugging enabled if you didn't get into developer options at all?
For the second half of your question you won't be able to flash anything without first unlocking the bootloader and flashing TWRP onto the device. For the devices recovery idk which one you meant, but it needs to be TWRP. Good luck!

Thanks to my friend, without doing anything, suddenly, he made me enter the developer options menu.
I've been able to do the rest.
Now I have the phone with unlocked bootloader, root and TWRP installed.
Do not ask me how I got the debug without going into the menu, I could not answer you ... it will remain a mystery !!!
I take advantage of your availability: can I flash the zip of the official ROM through TWRP? Or is there a risk that the phone goes into brick mode?

You can't flash an official zip through TWRP, it will just fail. No brick.
Edit: didn't read OP lol. If you want to update, you have to flash the stock recovery (there are stock recovery flashable zips on the Download Center) then install the update, then get TWRP again. Or you can install a custom ROM (I recommend one based on stock MiFavor 5.0, I think that the best one is ADM Team V3 (the one that's not based on B13), this way you can simply download, flash in TWRP, and you'll be done

Very poor support? It's going to get Android O, and it's got at least 1 update per month (officially). It's unclear whether that ROM you installed will be updated since it's based on an older version, but the latest (B13) breaks a bunch of stuff like Google Play Games, Maps, the GPS works awfully...

Which is the patch date? G B09 has the December 1 patch, just wanted to know which one fixes this stuff
Can someone provide a B35 update zip? It's no issue for me to connect to Wi-Fi to install it, but I like to keep offline cached copies of files for recovery purposes, so that I can update even without Internet.
Thanks!
Edit: I have A2017U.
When will the B35 firmware will be available as flashable TWRP zip across a2017 devices?Does it have a improved battery life?

As soon as you make one?
Pretty sure it's available now. Let us know how the battery life is.
I know I asked before, but if someone can post a direct URL link to the B35 update file (whether it be a zip or something else) then it would be much appreciated. I know @DrakenFX released a system and bootstack zip, but I would rather use official files. I can't save an offline copy of the file since I'm not currently rooted, I suspect it is stored in the /cache partition. The file size is close to 700MB. I just want a copy for offline use. Maybe someone with root can capture a copy of the file after it has downloaded, but before the phone reboots to apply it. Or maybe the URL can be sniffed with WireShark or whatever. A B35 full OTA zip is better, but ZTE hasn't posted an SD card update download on the zteusa.com website yet.
Thanks!
I was able to grab the B35 update zip without rooting. I let the updater download the file, then quickly powered off the phone before it had a chance to reboot and install. Then I booted into EDL mode, and used @tennear's Axon7Tool to write TWRP. From TWRP I went to /data/data/com.zte.zdm/files, and grabbed a file called fota_update.zip. Then I reflashed the stock recovery with Axon7Tool, and installed the zip. All went fine. I suspect you can grab any OTA zip this way. Maybe I'll upload a copy of the file later.
If there's any interest in a B35 SL!M➀ aroma-version let me know

Yes, sir! Very interested in flashing the update through TWRP while maintaining the advantages of stock for the hardware on board.

I run Apex Launcher & Magisk on the A2017U Stock, cutomized with a ton of stuff frozen & one of @warBeard_actual's mod. It would be nice to have the Aroma power and ability to "thin" things out. Thanks!

I think you're referring to this one ?
In general, did you see quite some difference before and after ?
You can PM for the tons of frozen stuff you like to get rid off. Think i might work on it these days to have some fun :cyclops:

Yes. I downloaded those 'init' files way back last Spring & found them more effective (at least impression-wise) than the AKT stuff. His "Conservative" mod helps w/ battery w/o a noticeable performance hit.
Early on I found the A7 was not happy when some apps were removed & replaced, but functioned OK if they were kept frozen & then replaced. Fortunately there is enough storage & memory that inefficiency does not (so far) cause issues. Sort of like the legacy SubStratum which could (sort of) work as long as system apps were excluded.
I look forward to your "hobby". Thanks

If you are using TWRP and/or are rooted, that setting>update will fail due to modified system files. READ & follow directions in post #2 HERE. Data will be saved & TWRP will be upgraded (if req'd).

Working on it Was harder then our G version stocksystem to make it boot with aroma. Really weird stocksystem...
But i succeeded. Having bootloader changed, twrp build-in and seperate modems, bootanimation changed, build-in battery tweaks, magisk, supersu, fasterUI....all ok now. Just adding some other stuff in next days. Hope to release it in the weekend :cyclops:

It will download, but the install will simply fail as it checks the system files, but certainly you are free to do as you wish. Good Luck!

Uploading A2017(U)(N-B35)_AROMA_SL!M¹_DF!NR now Preparing a seperate thread on ROM section. Keeping you updated when ready :good:
EDIT : DONE ! LINK
hi, i am installing the new OTA update but it when my restarts TWRP asks for password to mount and doesn't allow me to install this new OTA update. I entered my phone password which said it decrypted the pkg but then it only opens the TWRP GUI. I tried to install the zip manually but it said it failed.
How can I let the phone install it without TWRP interfering?
Thanks a lot.

You can't. Use stock recovery if you insist on OTA, or use DrakenFx's zips to flash from TWRP. The latter is much more convenient.
