Based on lastest leaks, G5 is not that worth coming from the G3. The plus variant may be a better choice in my opinion

Well I feel like the moto g5 is better upgrade because it comes with nougat and the battery is replaceable making it easier to switch batteries.

Yes, well it depends on everyone's personnal choices and opinions

Yeah I agree totally, it would have been nice to get the 625 in the non-plus and some smaller bezels. Get shafted as usual. :-/

A S625 will increase the price too so..

Thinking about upgrading my Oneplus 2 to the G5. Mostly because I want a smaller screen and the G5 looks to be fairly cheap.

It is. But I don't like the 5.5" screen size and the G5 looks to be a decent smaller-size phone.

Just bought one today - already available at a local brazilian retailer. So far I'm liking it. Built quality remembers me my Moto G 2013, solid built. BUT I miss the front facing speakers of my Alcatel Idol 3. Front facing speakers are very underrated. Anyway If you guys have any questions I'll be happy to answer them.

Nice upgrade

12 hours of moderate use now. Battery seems just right. Good thing is the phone did not overheat once during all day of use.

Guys, I've just left the store and had the g5 and g5 plus in my hands, a brief description (maybe nothing new)
G5: Extremely light, really realy light, it is fast, the cover is removable and only the center part is made of metal. The camera looks good. The phone has a good size, and the interface is the same as always. The chip and SD card are under the hood. Price: R$999 (in Brazil)
G5 Plus: Heavier obviously, have NFC and fast payment option or name that I don't know. I thought very fluid. Particularly, the design on hands is beautiful. The Launcher is equal to the pixel, but dark. Price: R$1499 (in Brazil)
I must have forgeten some detail, anyway ask me.

Be proud of your Moto X

I've been Moto x user for almost a year and I have no desire to upgrade. My work issued me another phone which is G3. Guess what? Moto X has some significant advantages over over that phone, even though it's considered high end device. G3 colors look dull and washed out, not to mention auto brightness feature doesn't work that well. Black color is much deeper and white color looks much better on Moto X. It dims the screen way too much indoors. Here are some interesting images. One is at 100%(bottom) another is on 0% (top) brightness. Images are taken using Panasonic mirrorless camera.
If you are thinking about upgrade, make sure you check out your next device in person.

My story is quite opposite.
I just got my moto x first gen four days ago and I'm in love.
I never quite found the phone that I could love until I used this phone.
I have owned M7,M8,S4,G2,Nexus 4&5, Moto G, Optimus G, and then from the Lumia line the 520/635/935.
I might have a problem....
The funny thing is this phone doesn't really do everything the best. It sits in the hand the best though.

I also love my moto x, but I've found some lacks:
-the device is slightly heavy considering his dimensions;
-the camera could be better;
-the device overheats easily;
so if the new moto x 2014 was not so big maybe I would have bought it
Only concern I have with my Moto X is the Whites are soo yellowish beyond acceptable... I completely hate that... Except for that it's awesome... The ways it sits at hand while calling is just so damn nice

I took it apart once and it's very well built device, I would compromise grams for durability.
Camera is Ok I've taken some decent pictures with it. Most people don't realize that camera is just a tool and adjustments and conditions of picture taking is very important.
That;s the issue of all modern cellphones.
So Moto X users everywhere should be thrilled that you like the phone more than something else? Why should I care who likes what phone and how old said phone is? All that matters is what I like and can make work for me, not random people in the internet with unknown preferences and tastes.
Sent from my Moto X
I bought my XT1060 Dev edition off someone for 200 bucks to replace my Nokia 520. I'm on the AT&T network right now but I may switch to Verizon in the near future. It's good to have a phone that can run on both networks.
Moto X is the one
I've been using moto handsets for more than 18 years, I'm crazy about flashing ROMs, Moto X is the first handset which made me stop flashing ROMs, only the new CM12 I flashed it then back again to stock so quick.
I cannot live without the smartness of this phone, it's the smartest, dealing with me smartly and differently at home, car and when even touched or talked to.
My next will be definitely the new Moto X 2014.
This Moto series is incomparable.

I really really loved my Defy and Defy+s. Those were the only cellphones that resisted MY wear without breaking or scratching. It's a pity that Motorola discontinued the line (and their hardware is so outdated).
But the Moto X 1 is the best of its time, no questions asked.

Rumor that power/volume might be moved to side of device is sad. I love the back buttons!
I'm hoping it has the modular design and removable batter. Even a removable battery would be enough to make me switch from Samsung.

Nothing less than a fully unlockable Bootloader will make me even consider switching.
First, thanks to Tony for kicking off the thread. Second, I'm looking forward to the SD 820, micro SD card, removable battery, buttons on the back, hell just everything! I'm super stoked about this phone. Buh bye Nexus 6!

Except it doesn't run stock Android, can't be used on multiple carriers the same as the N6 can, doesn't get fast updates, will have much less dev support, isn't guaranteed to get root or unlocked bootloader, etc.

The way I interpreted it was that the G5 will still pale in comparison to pretty much any Nexus device because it doesn't run stock software or isn't easily unlockable.
If that wasn't your intention then I do apologize, but I do feel strongly that at this point even phones without Nexus like interfaces will still run better than Nexus devices because of the hardware choices that Google gives manufacturers for those specific devices (Although Google is starting to push the limit a bit with the latest Nexus releases).

I went from a LG G4 to the N6, three weeks later I went back to the G4. When the N6P came out, I purchased it hoping for the best. I tried... I just couldn't like it. I gave it to my son and then purchased the G4 with unlocked BL.
@geoff5093 I do understand and appreciate your point of view (thank god we all have one:good I have found that the one dinamic I truly love about the G4 is the feel in the hand. While this may not be a biggie to developers, or the crowd that wants root, I truly like when I can hold a phone and it just feels right

Thank you. Well while it is spec-ulation atm, it will be nice to see what the final design will offer.
The G5's dimensions will allegedly be 149.4 x 73.9 x 8.2 mm
If I can get a significantly extended battery for it, I'll consider it. If no big battery = no buy.

Not sure that will be possible. The battery has a different insertion method... or so it was speculated.
Rear camera will be a dual Camera, one cam will have 16mp and the other one 8mp and the gpu adreno 530, not 520. Wouldn't expect a bump that big from 3k to 4k mah on battery :/
I have a G3, if this phone turns out to be REALLYYYYY revolutionary, I might think on upgrading by the end of the year.
No
Because the bootloader on the G4 & V10 still hasn't been unlocked... Not sure if the hack Gods are interested in LGs phones anymore.

Some versions of the Intl V10 and the T-mo are BL unlocked. Same goes for the G4:good:
I'm upgrade from S6 Edge & LG G2... . Lg makes usefull smart phones. I like this one too ...
I'm currently running the G3. I really liked the v10, but the things I want improved on the v10 are USB-C, smaller profile, and the SD 820. I also would like to keep the 4GB of RAM, but let's see how that goes.
I hope the G5 keeps the same style and form as the previous G4,G3, and (to a major extent) G2. The buttons on the back and the high screen to body ratio are my two favorite things on the G3. I also really like the audio cord on the bottom.
Hey guys, just coming here to lay my claim to this sub forum! I'm 99% sure I'm picking up a G5, porting it for an official NetHunter release, and fixing up a fun kernel. I might even get involved with TWRP.
It's starting to look like it could be a real open development phone for me. (I'll be getting it in Canada though when it is available, so I'm certain I'll be in the bootloader safezone)
I'm really glad they went with a 5.6" screen. It'd be nice to see some reliable information on the battery and how easy it will be to replace. Leaving the world of 1 second battery swap to full is a scary thing for me.
Won't upgrade from V10
I am really considering buying the V10 right now, but after seeing this I must consider to wait for the G5.... Decisions, decisions
I am currently using xperia Z5 Premium.

I was thinking the finger should be on motorola's Back M it can better than moving finger ahead bottom like samsung and iphone
If 240 euros is the actual price, this phone will be a joke.Lenovo K5 plus has snapdragon 616(less overheating 615) and its 120 euros(150 in some countries).Anyway, its still not sure that it will use sd615.I read somewhere that it will have 2 versions-with sd430 and sd650(if thats true, then it will be right priced).
Also, its easy to see that the fingerprint is photoshopped.

The leaks seems to have some credibility because part of it was right, so I think it's likely we'd have a version with a fingerprint sensor. Although I wonder if it'd be for select countries like the Moto g turbo

Lg g6 870s

Hello
I live in france and i ve a LG G6 870S (UEA version) , the phone working fine, all is ok but i would like just to update my phone.
Where can i find a new rom? how to install it ? no update avalaible when i user the update section of the phone.
Then there is no manufacturers update.
Verstuurd vanaf mijn ONE A2003 met Tapatalk
nothing still the same old 1st march patch v10c :'(
If there were updates, then LG would've provided you with them via OTA or LG Bridge, don't you think? You've already asked this in another thread, and you got the exact same answer.

What kind of research did you do before your purchase? Did you read a single camera review of the LG G6? I bet you didn't, since it would've told you that the front camera is below average. If the selfie shooter is so important to you, a bad one being a deal breaker even, then yes, you did make a bad purchase. But it's entirely on you.
But its supposed to be a flagship phone!
Even if you don't care much about front camera quality, you'd at least expect something halfway decent.
And it's not, it's simply laughable so bad is it.
Personally I don't care to much, but still this cheap bad low-end camera is completely out of place in a flagship.

Yes, the G6 is supposed to be a flagship phone, but that doesn't mean it'll be flawless. Name one flagship phone that is. The S8? An imbecile chose the spot to mount the fingerprint reader. The iPhone 7 and the Google Pixel? Holy cow, dem bezels. The U11? The phone breaks when bent from the back. Also, dem bezels. And yes, the G6 has a below average front camera. It's not terrible, but it's certainly worse than literally all the other flagships. But we know, or at least we're supposed to know, about these flaws when we choose which phone we'll spend our money on. We know the goods and the bads, and still we buy. That's on us. It doesn't mean we can't criticise, but we shouldn't be surprised that a phone has pros and cons. Because if we are, it's bad buyers research on our behalf.

Front camera isnt "that" bad, though its not terrible.
Sucks in low light for sure.
At least stop arguing that front camera is so bad, use the rear wide angle camera and use it for seflies.

We don't need to argue, I think everyone agrees the front camera is pretty bad.
I don't see how using the rear camera would be an alternative though without the visual feedback on the screen.
