Help softbrick - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

So I had Cyanogenmod 13 installed on my Huawei P9 Lite VNS-L21 and I decided to go back to stock. I could not find a tutorial how to go back to stock from cyanogenmod so I just flashed the whole zip file which contained UPDATE.APP. Now when I try to boot my phone it shows me a black screen. If I connect my phone to pc it does not recognize it. I then put only the UPDATE.APP in the dload folder and tried updating using the three button method but it says software install failed. I know it was my fault but I somehow missed Meticuluses tutorial --->
How do I get back to stock?
If you have an sdcard and followed the install instructions.
In TWRP: Advanced->Extras->Restore Dump
Reboot System
Now the system will boot up like it's brand new. May take 5mins or so.
Once the system has booted you can reboot back to recovery and restore your back up.
If you do not have an sdcard all you have to do is put system.img and boot.img back on the phone in /emmc and do the 2 commands in reverse and format /data in recovery adb shell like this:
dd if=/emmc/system.img of=dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/system
dd if=/emmc/boot.img of=dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/boot
make_ext4fs /dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/userdata

You can restore your stock rom with your own backup in twrp mode.. it is in step by step manual....

But I cant boot in recovery

Can you boot to fastboot?
If yes check if bootloader is locked/unlocked. Install again TWRP and try again.

I can boot to fastboot and my bootloader is unlocked but when I connect it to pc it does not recognise it

Uhm, try to open device manager and see if the phone is recognized.

Return to Huawei warranty and tell them its caused due a update...flash stock recovery and lock the bootloader first....i've had this problem also for 10 days.

Could it be that it does not recognise it because i had cm installed

I cant find my phone in device manager

Reinstall adb drivers and go to fastboot mode
Odoslané z VNS-L21 pomocou Tapatalku

I did install the drivers. When I go in fastboot mode and connect my phone to pc, I hear a sound when I connect the phon and HiSuite shows up but it only says device not connected. And when I open cmd and type in adb devices it does not show any device.

Ok I managed to solve the problem thanks

This doesn't work with new KK bootloader. You must flash the Dhacker's updated recovery you have tried. Try it again, it should work.
I don't know what exactly the mfastboot_v2 is, if it doesn't work, try normal fastboot

I've tried your guide but I cannot get my phone live again.
After installing EMUI 4.0 I tried to rollback to EMUI 3.1 B535 by restoring a TWRP backup but my phone get stuck on honor logo.
Then I tried to revert to stock recovery with multi tool but the result is that my phone wont charge and now I cannot enter in recovery.
I then followed your guide after extracting all the img files from B535 rom but the phone still want charge but it's still visible from fastboot.
What can I try now ?

help | DOWNGRADE TO MM | brick

Okay, so :- :crying::crying::crying::crying:
I was on nougat and went to downgrade and followed ALL instruction apart from one - which was something I missed with translate until i visited the htc page for the tenth time trying to fix this.
:silly: :crying: ----- I didnt change default location whilst running nougat -----:silly: :crying:
I flashed the c432 oem file, and I have tried to update to b151, b150 and b161 all through the update.app method. to no avail.
I have tried flashing everything manually through adb pushing AND fastboot after using the extractor and everything works EXCEPT the system.img. I am faced with an error telling me it has failed, 'unable to mount /system' - - - This message comes through regardless of what I do and im panicking
PLEASE HELP I AM SO STUCK

Yes, I noticed that from time to time, in bootloader mode, it is written unlocked, but as the device bootloop (bug) I believe it too. so
I retype systematically the bootloader code to open.

If you have your bootloader unlocked (if you don,t have it, unlock it) and flash TWRP. After that, flash B130 for your VNS-L31. Done.
Unlock yor Bootloader again. And try flashing again.
Have hade the same problem. My bootloader showed unlocked, but he was not.

Shut down your device. Press the switch off for 10 secounds.
When the phone is off, swith on and same time with vol + without usb-kabel, and otherwise try it with usb-kabel.
When you stock recovery starts. You can try a factoryreset.
When you Revolution recovery starts flash oem.info again and perform the dload methode with your right MM UPDATE.APP.

OK. Go to bootloader and flash:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
extract this files with: Huawei Update Extractor from your Original UPDATE.APP
system.img is loading in steps and need much time.

Hi guys, i have the same problem after doing some ****, flashed stock rom from lineageos 14 and a lot of things that i'm trying now to unbrick my phone... i cant enter to the erecovery with the 3 buttons method, wathever i do, and i dont have any idea on how to unbrick my phone... I hope someone could help me

P9 Lite Bricked. Help me!!!

Hello,
I was always a Samsung fanboy, but than I decided to buy the P9 lite (VNS-L21 single sim)
I wanted to flash the android 7 update for my phone, but I was such a noob in Huawei, that I didn't understand a word. But i tried to do what the instructions said. Now my phone is bricked. I can go to recovery, erecovery (which can't download anyithing) and download mode. I heard of this fastboot stuff as well, but I don't know how to do this. I tried to flash as many roms as I could with dload and it didn't work, after 5%, it said it failed... Now I don't know what to do. I think somebody (expert) should make a clear tutorial for noobs. Oh and I almost forgot that i don't have root, custom recovery, and things like that. I just bought the phone, I didn't want to make big changes, just new android. Is it possible that after this Huawei would fix my phone, if I couldn't? Or warranty is void? And sadly I don't know more of my phone because I'm not ina rom, and the phone and papers don't say more.
If you could help me, I would appreciate it:
Raul
Turn off your phone, connect to the pc while holding the volume down button, you will end up in fastboot mode.
I assume you have ADB and drivers installed (if not, install ADB and device drivers).
Optional: unlock your bootloader if it's locked.
Download the latest offical rom zip for your phone version (the marshmallow one), extract the update.app.
Use Huawei extractor to ectract the following files (google is your friend in this one, but its not difficult):
boot.img
recovery.img
cust.img
system.img
After you've done this, connect your phone to the PC in fastboot mode .
Open a command promt from the folder where the extracted files are (shift+right click, Open Command window here), enter the following commands
fastboot devices (you will see the list of attached devices with a lot of random number + fastboot)
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot
After all this, you should be good to go, just be sure you are using the correct rom for you version.
Or you can just serach on the forum and find this.

Until you have bootloader unlock you can not run any fastboot flash command...

What is the error? - Have u disconnected the device from the PC during the update?
If not, try to update again and just disconnect the device from any USB connection...

Hello. I disconnected it from everything (for example USB)When I tried to install it said something like incompatibility version, but it couldn't be because I tried many roms for my phone. And I tried some dual sim roms as well because, I thought that it might work... But then I will do that unlock if it will do good. Thanks for the help Without bootloader I can't flash from dload as well?

Heyho,
the dload method works always without unlock bootloader. But, u can't flash for example an B161 over an B3xx (what nougat is) if the update u installed modified already the oeminfo u are not able to flash any rom below B3xx (nougat) via dload.
-
In that case u might use the official rollback package (never tested it myself) or, u unlock ur bootloader, flash a TWRP recovery matching to ur current FW. Flash from there a oeminfo + custom.bin (lower than B3xx) and flash the FW matching to the new oeminfo via dload and stock recovery.
Regards,
Sebastian
If you have custom recovery, wipe everything. Data, system, boot. extract update app (which is your stock rom) with huawei update extractor. go to custom recovery, flash stock boot IMG and stock recovery IMG. Power off, use three button dload method, reboot, when booting press vol up for three second, now you are in e-recovery. Press shutdown. Press and hold power and vol up for stock recovery. Do factory reset. If need do the factory reset 2/3 times. Now you are with locked bootloader.
