how to alphabetize apps on Zenfone 3 Ultra - Asus ZenFone 3 Questions & Answers

Hello, does anyone know how to get the apps to be alphabetized after you install new apps? I'm been searching but can't figure it out. Thanks.

If it is the same as my Zenfone 3, you should be able to do it. First open your app drawer and then on the top right there should be a bow with an arrow pointing down. Hit this and a menu should open up. The select all and they should be in alphabetical order.

Stock Android = No Popup Menu?

Howdy,
This may be a dumb question but is there no contextual menu in stock Android? I know that many apps have the icon that is three vertical dots but on my Note 2 I can bring up a menu in any app by pressing the the menu nav button. I know that's a Samsung button, but is that entire pop up menu feature not in stock? I am sort of lost without it. For example, I can't find My Apps on the Play Store. On my Note 2 its listed in the pop up menu. On my Nexus 7.... I have no idea. I feel like I've looked everywhere. The three dot menu doesn't list it.
Thanks

OK I found my apps (tap little download icon) but still wondering in general. That pop up menu is really handy.

The three dots will come up in the bottom right corner when an older app still needs it. Overflow actions are being moved to the actionbar for devices without a hardware menu button. I recommend getting used to apps having the button on the action bar. It makes it much easier to know when there are available overflow options.

The problem with the menu button is that it was always there, whether it did anything or not. It was impossible to know if you could bring up a menu without trying it on each screen.
Exactly. That's why I am glad google is phasing it out.

Custom ROMs, you can make a permanent menu button. Mostly goes unused though.

OK, thanks guys. I will learn to live without it.

Um.. First off, on tablet sized devices the Play store has a dedicated Download/My Apps button at the top. Second, my Nexus 7 (OG) on 4.3 has the overflow button in the top-right corner.. Yours does not??

Hiding Apps

Anyone knows how to hide apps in Note 3? I'm used to that feature in Note 2. Couldn't get it in Android 4.3.1

I did that. If I did that then the option that follows is to uninstall the application.
Doesn't work. I hit the button but it uninstalls the app. I need to hide few stock apps which I don't use.

Searched for that too.
Don't think it is possible on he Note 3, I couldn't find it.
This is weird because when I was at the Electronics shop and was playing around with the Note 3 that was out on Display it did have the option to hide apps but now I can not find it on my own Note 3. If I am not mistaken I had also seen it on my Note but looked every where for this feature and it just seems to have vanished.

Any way to change delay when holding home for recent apps??

Hi, im running xnote v8 and was wondering, if there is anything available wether as an add on, wanam module or root app or an in rom tweak that can shorten the delay between when holding the home button to bring up the recent apps as I find it too long even on stock touchwiz.

Have the same thing here

I use xposed framework, and the module xposed aditions, you need root for this
When ever I tap on xposed aditions, it judt gives me a little prompt saying "This module does not provide a user interface" the module was already installed with the ROM I believe, tried Uninstalling it then reinstalling it but it doesnt uninstall although it says it does. And updating it doesnt work either as it saying "an existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is installed.
Any advice?

the reason there is delay when you press home button, is because system is waiting to see if it's double press to bring up voice command screen. There is a menu where you can disable double click and that should make wait much shorter, but I can't remember which menu is it ATM. This works on stock, I can't help with custom software.
Look in the Play store for Switcher. You can swipe from the bottom, left or right side of screen to open recent apps.

just install nova launcher or go launcher ex and create a gesture, one or two fingers sliding up to show the recent apps. a lot more convenient and quicker to access recents.

This seems like a much better option than trying to map a double click of the home key. Here's to hoping it works!

meizu mx5 notification

My meizu mx5 not appear notification box ..
facebook, whats app, messages, it does not appear the notification number for me to know if I have messages ..
how do I show up?
I have the same proplem
You need to open the "Security" app.
Then tap on "Permissions", allow the apps you want to. Then go back.
Tap on "Power Saving", then tap on the four squares at the bottom, allow the apps you want to.
That should do the trick. MX5 kills the background process of the apps to save energy and memory.
Hi this doesn't work always.I think the flyme has many bugs with notifications

I can confirm that this works perfectly. I tried this in MX5 Chinese ROM FlymeOS 5.1.1A. My son had hard problems keeping facebook messenger notifications on top. Once permission for alert has been granted, all is OK.
I ve done that..but the notification are coming now and then.all are working fine except fb and fb messenger.am the only one with this Problem [emoji14] ?

EUREKA
OK, i thing a found it
So you got to Security APP, and then in Permintions and then on 4 squares on the bottom.
There you will get a list of all your apps installed, find Viber or WhatsApp and enter.
In may case in all apps that notifications did not work, upon entering in every and each one, Notification and Alert option was disable...
So try this and it should be ok
Best way......Security in Carantäne...better battery and all notifications
How is MX5?

Xda app no menu button

Ok so i got my edge plus yesterday. Been using the regular s6 for a few months now and in the xda app there is a actual menu button with 3 dots that kinda hovers down at the bottom. Well on my plus it isnt there. Cant figure out how to being up the menu. If i hold back with a longpress it just starts backing out. Holding home brings up google now. And holding the task brings up multiwindow.
My problem is i cant bring up the menu to create a new thread. Thats why im posting this on my s6 rather than my edge.
Is it something simple im just overlooking?

Dis you guys try to uninstall and install again? Im using XDA premium 4 and everything is awesome here
Yeah I have the same issue. One thing you can do though (not a permanent solution) is to go to accessibility settings and then add that hovering extra button and in that way you can access the menu button.

Long press back button?

I wrote about this over in the Note 5 forum. Nonfiction except to use the XDA premium app, which I think is inferior.
Actually the sad thing is that there's so little one can do to the locked device that I stuck to the free version and it doesnt matter as I hardly have a need to create new forums like the old days (where are you now, HD2???).

Here is the temp fix guys the problem is a lot of apps detect if there is a hardware menu button and omit showing the soft 3 dot button common in a lot of apps. The S5 has no dedicated menu button but it does have the long press home button option to launch the More options/Menu button, however out Galaxy S6 models do not have this option. BUT some apps still detect it and delete their in app button.
Here is the fix I figured out that works in this situation and it would be good to pass this on or write up a document.
Go to phone settings => Accessibility => Dexterity and interaction => Assistant Menu.
At the top right slide the off button to on to enable the Assistant menu icon on all screens. Then click on the Edit option. In the edit menu deselect all the buttons you do not need by hitting the red negative on the icons (-) in the upper part of the screen. (note it has two buttons that you cannot remove Home Screen, and Menu Settings) on the bottom half of the page hit the green plus sign (+) on the More Options button (It has 3 dots).
Now on all screens is a little round button with 4 dots on it, it appears on all screens in all programs and is floating. There is the More options button now which is the software menu button we are missing =). You can just go back and disable Assistant menu afterward or like me leave this handy button on because I have multiple programs that do this.
Hope this helps guys Cheers!

Yeah I tried that it did not work in the app that I run that I could not get to the menu with, I will try another program and see if I can get that to work. I also tried many of the other options I could find through the searches. See the reply above mine in this thread.
