Hiding Apps - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone knows how to hide apps in Note 3? I'm used to that feature in Note 2. Couldn't get it in Android 4.3.1

I also saw this feature on the Note 3 but could not find it now. I did see it before though.

When you are in your apps tap the menu key and hit Un install disable

Hey there,
Go into your app Drawer.
Hit your menu key.
Then tap on the uninstall/disable apps
Please don't forget to say thanks

I did that. If I did that then the option that follows is to uninstall the application.

Doesn't work. I hit the button but it uninstalls the app. I need to hide few stock apps which I don't use.

Searched for that too.
Don't think it is possible on he Note 3, I couldn't find it.

This is weird because when I was at the Electronics shop and was playing around with the Note 3 that was out on Display it did have the option to hide apps but now I can not find it on my own Note 3. If I am not mistaken I had also seen it on my Note but looked every where for this feature and it just seems to have vanished.

Any way to change delay when holding home for recent apps??

Hi, im running xnote v8 and was wondering, if there is anything available wether as an add on, wanam module or root app or an in rom tweak that can shorten the delay between when holding the home button to bring up the recent apps as I find it too long even on stock touchwiz.

I use xposed framework, and the module xposed aditions, you need root for this
When ever I tap on xposed aditions, it judt gives me a little prompt saying "This module does not provide a user interface" the module was already installed with the ROM I believe, tried Uninstalling it then reinstalling it but it doesnt uninstall although it says it does. And updating it doesnt work either as it saying "an existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is installed.
Any advice?

the reason there is delay when you press home button, is because system is waiting to see if it's double press to bring up voice command screen. There is a menu where you can disable double click and that should make wait much shorter, but I can't remember which menu is it ATM. This works on stock, I can't help with custom software.
Look in the Play store for Switcher. You can swipe from the bottom, left or right side of screen to open recent apps.

just install nova launcher or go launcher ex and create a gesture, one or two fingers sliding up to show the recent apps. a lot more convenient and quicker to access recents.

This seems like a much better option than trying to map a double click of the home key. Here's to hoping it works!

I am so used to my S3 I would love an option to switch the home button and menu button so that home is my apps list and menu is the google now / s voice
Dont see why they changed something everyone was used to since S2 and I cant see them changing it back either
My hardware buttons are back to the old S4 way. Used xposed and gravity box love it!

I think, you just need to download a third party app to get what you want.
I havent found a single third party app that would do it yet.
Stallion, do u have any links showing how to do it? Will it require root? Im looking for a non-root method for the time being

You need root to use xposed. Not sure of any non root methods, pretty sure you can't without root.

To open "Recent apps" you have to press and hold the Home button.
The alternative way is install the 'Android Missing Shortcuts' app and select 'Recent Apps' in the main screen.
(download link in my signature)

Home button takes me to recent apps.

I'm experiencing this problem since few days now.
When ever I tap home button normally it always takes me to recent apps. Dont know whats wrong with it.
Any one has any solution to this? Is any app conflicing or is it a hardware problem.

When u r on home screen and push the power button do u get a touchWiz crashed message b 4 it takes u to the recent app? If u do it's the same issue others had reported b 4. Still not sure if it is the magazine app uninstalled/disabled or something else related to any not installed Samsung app. Most people, me included, fixed it by wiping data. I have no issue anymore after reflashing the rom with Samsung apps checked in boot loader. Since that happened so often I'm kinda curious what exactly causes the problem.
@4aces no and on home screen it doesnt takes me to recent apps it just stays there. Clear data for magazine? I have disabled to open magazine with home tap and now it seems to work better but still sometimes ot takes me to recent apps.. But it was all fine with magazine before qhy it started happening now?

Ok so it's not that problem. Just happened so many times that I thought it's the same. Are u using any mods on home button functionality like xposed editions or home 2 shortcut or anything related?

Maybe u changed the home button delay to short? I don't really know cause I haven't had that issue but I would try to disable the wanam modules and check them one by one.

Installed xui mod and lost my phone service. Uninstalled again. Maybe it causes conflicts with other modules

Cannot Unistall App by Drag and Drop

Hi dears
I have Galaxy Note 3, and I used to unistall/remove apps by goin to the App Drawer, long press and drag it all the way up where it says Remove.
No, when I do that it's not working, it's just not dong any thing.
I found a work around by going to the App Drawer, hit the menu setting and from them tap on Unistall, but I really prefer drag and drop.
If any one know how to get this feature back, please reply
Thanks
I can't uninstall using that either. I have drag to app info and uninstall from that screen.
I assumed it to be a bug in the OS?
Works fine for me...
Edit: Oh. Right. No, sorry, I'm not using Touchwiz, I'm using Apex.

*NOVA LAUNCHER* Double tap to lock

Here is a work around to the popular double tap to lock when using Nova Launcher.
All you need to do is to download "screen off and lock" from the Google Play store, then go into Nova's "gestures and buttons" settings menu and tie double tap to the screen off and lock app.
Then it should work as it does with the standard launcher.
Thank for the tip
Or if you have greenify you can tie the double tap to hibernate and it does exactly he same. Actually I prefer since, I use greenify on my phone anyways.

Oooops! :crying:
I have the Note 4 and the LG G3 and was switching between forums.
My sincere apologies.
Scrren Off app + Nova Launcher Pro with the gesture option (double tap executing the screen off)
Just works! :good:
With 3rd party lock apps I had issues with the keylock activating even though i had smartlock set to deactivate my pin when my phone is connected to my pebble watch. So i now use tasker to double tap off with nova from anywhere on the screen.
In tasker set up a new task to mimic a press of the power button:
New task>code > run shell> Command> input keyevent 26
Tick use root access.
Then point novas double tap gesture to the task. Because its mimicking the power button press it doesn't interfere with smartlock.

Can you please explain how to "point novas double tap gesture to the task"? Thank you very much!
Hi
In nova settings > gestures> double tap> shortcuts> task shortcuts> select the name you gave to the task you created.

Hi and thank you. I did that and it interacts with tasker on double tap, as i see the message from super su. I guess i didn't set up tasker as it should.. Any ideas?
Not sure but you might need to give the task in tasker an icon for it to work?
