Question about performance: Lineage os 14.1 20170206 and Rerurrection Remix 5.8.0 - Moto G4 Play Questions & Answers

Good Evening, i have spent a lot of time reading and watching videos about the lineage os and resurrection remix, i currently on stock marshmallow 6.0.1 waiting for the official upgrade to nougat 7.0 for moto g4 play.
My question is, wich rom do you guys ( the actual experts on this) recommend. Wich one is the most stable at the moment? Does Moto action features are enabled for those rom? What about vulkan api? Wich one is the bes?
Thank you for your time for those who read and respond and helped me.

I was using CM14.1 and am currently using Lineage 14.1. I can tell you that Moto Actions are not available on this ROM (and likely wouldn't be on Resurrection either because it's also CM based AFAIK). Additionally, I don't believe Vulkan API is enabled on the G4 Play even on stock. The Snapdragon 410, while 64-bit capable, was locked to 32-bit by Motorola/Lenovo.
Between the two ROMs, Lineage is obviously going to be the cleaner experience since it's as bare bones as one can get. Thus, you're free to customize it to your liking. However, if you want something that comes preloaded with all of the bells and whistles, that would lean you more toward Resurrection Remix.

Some questions about Custom ROMs

I just got my Moto G4 Play and now I'm looking for a good ROM to start with. I guess this question has been asked a million times and I apologize for unoriginal content.
I've been looking around and I think I'm interested in:
AOSP Extended
crDroid
Zephyr OS
AOKP
Dirty Unicorns
Resurrection Remix
Unfortunately, I have no idea about the general differences. Ideally, the ROM would support signature spoofing. Themes would also be nice. AFAIK, that leaves me with AOSP Extended and crDroid. Could someone highlight the main differences of these ROMs?
Also, how do the ROMs compare in General, what makes them different from one another? And what's the difference between AOKP and Dirty Unicorns - I hear DU forked AOKP, right?
Thanks in advance and please don't be too mean if the questions are stupid!
I'm not going to get into detail since I'm new to ROMs and stuff, but I'm using Resurrection Remix and I LOVE it?
I've been using crDroid with microG on my G4 Play as it was the first ROM available with signature spoofing. It is reasonably stable, no issue using it as your "daily driver".
AOSP Extended only recently added signature spoofing. I have considered trying it as I don't need all of crDroid's bells and whistles, but haven't yet done so. If you try AOSP Extended I would like to hear you opinion of it.
I have installed AOSP Extended but not really used it so far except for playing with some settings. So far, I have had no real problems except setting up microG correctly. I will try to do this correctly today and then tell you about my success.
For now, it runs smoothly and is really snappy.

Custom Roms: Nougat vs MM

For those who tested both version of custom roms, what u guys liked and did not liked?
i'm new here and i already tested invicta, rr, viper and aex (aex is the best so far). i will test some mm custom roms for now

I believe Nougat ROMs will be better than Marshmallow ROMs.
Just one reason, time gap between release of G4/G4+ and Nougat is nearly 3 months (so development period will be less than 3 months), when actual development of custom ROMs was started, little after Nougat was announced. So developers haven't got enough time for development of MM. There will be device specific bugs.
I have tried OrionOS, it was fine!

I had tried invicta, rr, aosp extended, viper, aex too, then vanadium, telsa, los. I preferred rr for its customization capability and los for stability. Aosp for simplicity but los is there.
All i had tried were nougat based, and i was not liking mm as there were no significant update in there after lollipop (a major one).
Specific to Moto G4+, the device was introduced at a time when Nougat was nearing official release, so custom ROM development for Athene obviously started with MM - the version phones were shipped out with. Within a few months (Nov 2016 ish) Nougat overtook as the preferred Android version for both devs and users, across LOS and AOSP based roms. This was mainly due to Nougat offering considerable improvement over MM, which just as the last post points out, was merely a refinement of Lollipop.
IME, those who stuck with MM were mostly ones who couldn't do without Xposed, or prolly were ones who cautiously waited for an official firmware upgrade by Lenovo.
Based on my own experience, I find RR N to be far superior than RR M, in terms of performance and stability both. The fact that customization options which lie at core of RR didn't change much over the two Android versions should further point to why N is preferable over MM.
Invicta's fate sadly hangs in uncertainty and that is a huge loss given SileshNair consistently worked to get us stock-rom level stability and robustness on super feature rich ROMs.
Unless you're particular about being on the latest Android version, currently the best combination would be RR N whose recent version come shipped with Spectrum to let you choose the gov profile of your choice. Or you can go step further and get flar2's legendary ElementalX to tweak your phone all the way up! Plus with official Xposed N and rapidly updated stable mods , you can have best of all worlds - performance, features, battery life and functionality.
Tho I did switch over to Invicta Oreo a fortnight ago, I can still vouch for RR N + ElementalX + xposed (with greenify, amplify, xposed edge et al) combo to be most rewarding.

J5 2016 ROM recommendations (8.1)

Hello, I own a Moto G4 Plus that I have tested various ROMs on and have had experiences with flashing ROMs on Samsung devices, so a friend of mine asked if I could help him out too. So how stable are the Oreo ROMs? Would there be one that could be called the "best" one? Would it be worth for him to switch to a custom ROM or should he stay on the stock one?
Oreo ROMs are very good the best for me are LineageOS and Resurrection Remix OS
Just my personal experience but...I´m yet to see a Custom Rom for J5 2016 that matches Stock Rom. Used all of them from Lineage to Dot OS and although they are pretty stable, performance is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes the phone works like a rocket and sometimes you nedd to reboot it to make it usable again. I have kids and take a lot of photos, so the shutter lag in custom roms is a great con, for me.
This may vary from user to user, which GApps you use, which apps you use, so I would give it a try anyway. From the ones I used, Lineage is by far the best.

There is already ongoing discussion on this topic : https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/discussion-stable-oreo-rom-t3792049
Also make sure you are posting in question and answer section not in development section..
There's no Oreo custom ROM stable at moment, if you really want to use custom ROM i would recommend Nougat ROMs, especially the Official Lineage 14.1. Alias, even Lineage and ROMs based on lineage suffer from random reboot(And thats why after using custom ROM for more than a year on my Athene i started using Stock again, where everything works well and no random reboot)

Resurrection remix 5.8.5 seems great. No random reboots. Been using it for almost 1.5 years now.
Nougat ROMs have no reboots and hardly any minor bugs. Orero ROMs do have some bugs but are 90% stable which is due to the old baseband and blobs of the device. Hopefully, once official Oreo update is out (or even soak test is out), it should fix the remaining 10% problems.
I tried
RR (Oreo)
Lineage OS (Oreo)
Havoc OS (Oreo)
And in my experience the "most stable" is by far Havoc, righ now is what Im using even when the Dev just droped the project
Im waiting for RR to improve and will be definitly looking for it

Custom ROM comparison in 2020

There are so many roms for the Moto G4 Plus that it's quite confusing to decide which to try.
I'm interested in a ROM that is:
Relatively stable
Still receiving security patches
No major bugs (like Camera not working or other major issues)
Ideally (but not necessarily) passes SafetyNet without Magisk and Magisk hide
Not interested in tons of customisations
Oreo, Pie or 10
What would you suggest?

Pixel experience plus, Arrow OS 10 or LineageOS 15.1
LineageOS and Pixel experience plus are more stable.

Stock ROM is on Oreo while these custom ROMs are on higher android version. Plus latest security updates and some new features that you can not find on stock ROM. May be not as stable as stock ROM in some cases but are very close to stable and with some improvements like battery backup, etc. If you are doing great with Stock ROM then no need to flash these ROMs.
I would like to have the latest security updates and, to a minor extent, a newer Android version, but not if the custom ROM is unstable. What I would not like to have is daily random reboots or the phone turning off when battery is still at 30% for example. Have these issues been solved?

I won't consider Arrow OS 10 because the camera doesn't work. LineageOS is on Android 8.1 whereas Pixel Experience Plus is on Android 9. Is the latter slower that the former or is the performance similar? I would consider using LineageOS with a nano Gapps to limit the background processes since I have a device with 2Gb of RAM only.
Do apps generally perform better (faster) with 64 bit ROMS? Instagram and Messenger are very slow amongst other apps on Stock Oreo ROM. Since my device has 2Gb of RAM, are 64 bit ROMs too heavy?
