Some questions about Custom ROMs - Moto G4 Play Questions & Answers

I just got my Moto G4 Play and now I'm looking for a good ROM to start with. I guess this question has been asked a million times and I apologize for unoriginal content.
I've been looking around and I think I'm interested in:
AOSP Extended
crDroid
Zephyr OS
AOKP
Dirty Unicorns
Resurrection Remix
Unfortunately, I have no idea about the general differences. Ideally, the ROM would support signature spoofing. Themes would also be nice. AFAIK, that leaves me with AOSP Extended and crDroid. Could someone highlight the main differences of these ROMs?
Also, how do the ROMs compare in General, what makes them different from one another? And what's the difference between AOKP and Dirty Unicorns - I hear DU forked AOKP, right?
Thanks in advance and please don't be too mean if the questions are stupid!

I'm not going to get into detail since I'm new to ROMs and stuff, but I'm using Resurrection Remix and I LOVE it?

I've been using crDroid with microG on my G4 Play as it was the first ROM available with signature spoofing. It is reasonably stable, no issue using it as your "daily driver".
AOSP Extended only recently added signature spoofing. I have considered trying it as I don't need all of crDroid's bells and whistles, but haven't yet done so. If you try AOSP Extended I would like to hear you opinion of it.

I have installed AOSP Extended but not really used it so far except for playing with some settings. So far, I have had no real problems except setting up microG correctly. I will try to do this correctly today and then tell you about my success.
For now, it runs smoothly and is really snappy.

Most Popular OP2 ROM's - Opinion Based?

So now that we have had FP/LAF working on MM ROM's for a few months now, it seems that the ROM development has slowed down...
So far I've tried the following in this order:
CyanPop by Taker18 - The original best working MM ROM in my opinion, from before FP/LAF was working. This thing was solid and made me begin enjoy my OnePlus 2!
BeanStalk by Taker18 - Ran for for about a month, was great but got bored and wanted to switch it up.
CM13 by Seraph08 - This is what I'm currently running.
I'm kind of bored with the Seraph CM13 ROM and it's time to do full wipe as my battery life isnt as great as it should be.. But I can't decide what to try. I was about to flash TEMASEK'S CM13 yesterday but then hesitated when I saw that they were retiring Temasek after CM13...
How are the OOS based ROM's? I was never a fan of OOS as CM13 is where I'm comfortable but I'm looking to spice it up for a bit.. I'd almost be willing to even give MIUI a go but don't really want to fall back to a 5.1.1 based rom with no FP/LAF...
What are people using these days? and what are the opinions on the current state of OP2 development? I get a sense that it has somewhat stalled most likely related to the delays in the OOS 3.0 OTA..
Use Exodus.
In my opinion the best rom so far.
I would say that your list there was pretty close once upon a time, but I really don't think it is accurate anymore. In my opinion, I would say that the most popular ROM for the OPT would be Seraph08's CM13. Everyone likes stock CM. Then I would say Resurrection Remix, and then Beanstalk and Exodus for a tie at third. I would suggest you try Exodus if you don't want many bloat features. I got over having tons of features. I used to only use Resurrection Remix, but then I decided to try some other ROMs. So far, my favorites have been Exodus (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/orig-development/rom-exodus-android-6-oneplus2-t3333929), Purity (https://plus.google.com/communities...5/stream/8da711ee-6e10-450e-94db-b0ad895d3234), and Validus (https://plus.google.com/communities...8/stream/d0341921-196f-4f6c-8c61-10e6a0c36eb6). The best ROM to keep an eye on in my opinion would be halogenOS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/orig-development/rom-halogenos-oneplus-2-t3377799). Happy flashing!

Looking for a ROM with tons of features and customizations

OK... So I have been using the Pure Nexus ROM for a day or so. Its a great ROM and it feels clean ...but I am looking for tons of customizations, themes etc. I would preferred not to have tons of third party apps so I would like a ROM that already provides that any suggestion would be greatly appreciated
Stock rooted with Xposed will get you there (or Trupure which is Stock debloated), or just flash CM13
I'd say AICP. Very feature rich. Really solid custom ROM.
Resurrection Remix is actually the feature king, but most of what it has beyond AICP falls in the "stuff I don't use" category. AICP is a little more actively developed and supported.
Stock with xposed and Frankenclark kernel is my ROM of choice for this phone, but it has been a few months. About time to give the custom ROMs another chance.
Thanks guys this is what I am talking about ....keep them coming ...last time I used CM was about 5 years ago I was very happy with it don't know how it is right now ..plus now a days there is a plethora of good ROMS available ...

Well i no more use cm. Rather i use stock rom. It is stable and we can get all features with xposed and other apps.
I have tried the following
Resurrection remix
Android Ice cold project
CM13
Bliss pop
Liquid smooth
For me CM13 was the most stable but it certainly was not the fastest, event tho in some conditions it performed well, and is the rom that I have had the most experience with. The other roms I listed above were quicker but they were a bit more unstable than cm13 but not to the point of unusable.
And finally I have been testing a new rom called exodus and my experience with this, since the past week is wow, it is the fastest rom that I have come across in terms of bootup time and shutdown, including overall performance when using my galaxy s5, however even tho there hasn't been much in a way of apps crashing I do get the odd lag now and again which is not consistent, but I can see this rom will always continue to improve.
There is another rom that I like to try out and it's called aokp as that claims to have good performance, however i'm not sure of the stability of this.
You should check out the xda channel on youtube, there are quite a few reviews for custom roms that are even available on our device.

Best Rom (opinion )

Hey
I have a G900F and I'm wondering wich rom you consider to be the best and why. I have stock marshmallow and it's been laggy lately. I would like to give a try to a custom ROM. I'm interested in lineage os and resurrection remix but I'm not sure if I should use any of them since I read on the forum that both have some sort of problem with gapps. Can you help?
Tell me if it's safe to install any of the above or if you can recommend another.
Thanks

Welcome to the S5 community @balangmusic,
Have a look at this thread for some ROM suggestions:
Which ROM do you like most?
RR 5.7.4 is a popular choice and I highly recommend using it. It is a little outdated in terms of security updates but it gets the job done and it is feature packed. LineageOS is currently a little buggy with Google Play Services, where your phone would freeze after auto updating.
Saber
or p h oenix rom
general rule - AOSP roms such as the ones you are interested in - can get nougat (which comes with perks such as extra features and extra security), bugs (as stated above) stability and compatibility issues (some have issues with fingerprint and sometimes camera) .
Touchwiz roms (e.g. Omega) - can only get up to marshmallow (or lollipop depending on the rom). more stable
I lean more towards Touchwiz based rom. if i wanted AOSP rom, I would have gotten a Nexus. I'm also not to concerned about what version of android i'm running.
I personally use Xtrestolite which is lollipop, touchwiz based and quite old. However, it's very stable. I'm having no issues.
Why do I use lollipop? - I really like Ktoonsez's Kernel.
In my opinion, I like Xtrestolite, or Alliance (although both are currently unsupported and are lollipop based at latest).
Omega is a Touchwiz based one (and pretty good) that supports Marshmallow now I believe. I reckon you should give that a try if you want a good balance between up-to-dateness, features and stability.
I'll post any links is you are interested in any of these and want links.
Edit: also very interested to hear about other good roms and people's opinions
Also Red's Revenge seems pretty cool and recent. havent tried it yet though.
Thanks man.
Can you give me links for omega and red's revenge?

No worries
OMEGA - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714159
RED'S REVENGE - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/beta-red-s-revengeg900f-m-t-l-s-t3536409
Good luck!
Try them out and let us know how you go.
I have Lineage Os 14.1 on my S5 and it works perfectly, I think this is the best Rom because cyanogenmod turned in Lineage.

Best custom rom?

Hi.
what is best stable and simple custom rom for nexus 6p?
There's no best and all are stable. For fans of Pure Nexus ABC ROM seems to be the go to for Oreo. Simplicity SuperXe custom build straight from source. I prefer the modified stock SuperXe personally. Some honorable mentions Nitrogen, AquariOS, CrDroid.

I haven't tried it in some time because I just returned to my mostly trusty 6p after several months on an ill-fated adventure with a dud Xperia XZ Premium. However, Dirty Unicorns is still in development and was always one of the better ones IMHO. Particularly if you don't want to flash Viper, DU has OK sound enhancement over stock.
But, yeah, 'best' is basically the ROM you like the most for your purposes.
Almost some custom roms has very options to customize but i need simple official rom with only a few option.like official stock but improved for battery usage and performance

I'm on the latest Lineage 15 and it seems pretty solid. Has a bunch of features that should come with stock ROM but does not.
I tried Carbon ROM but had problems with lag and slowness and now I'm running ABC rom, much better and really fluid plus some nice additions . Recommended
Dirty Unicorns
