Camera has a line through it. Hardware defect. - Galaxy View General

Love our Galaxy View Tablet, we use it for family stories and family worship.
We noticed a line on the camera after the last update, although probably not related. Seems like a camera sensor issue. Went to Best Buy and they said to send it in, will report on progress of finally outcome.

Screen quality on Juno, did the hardware change?

Alright, long story short, I bought the Juno from Tmo several months ago. One of the reasons I was so impressed with it was the incredible screen quality, it was crystal clear, far better than any other PDA phone Id seen, at least out of what was available at Tmo.
Anyway, that phone got stolen, and the replacement I was sent had very noticeably inferior screen; not clear at all, pixelated. Not to mention a horrible viewing angle. All problems I never had with my original. So I had them send me another replacement, and it was fine again, just like my first one.
Fast forward, that phone dies. They send me another replacement, and the screen is no good again, same horrible quality as the previous replacement. The next several replacements I ask for to fix this issue have the same thing.
All the new Shadows at local Tmo stores are that way too, none of them come close to the first one I had in screen quality.
So my question is, what gives? Did HTC change their screen hardware, or have I just gotten 5 bad apples?
Thanks in advance for any insight, its driving me crazy.
I myself have a Shadow right now, altho not overall what I excepted its really nice for what it is. I miss my qwerty keyboard and touch screen. I'm actually thinking about exchanging it for a different phone. Unless you want to buy it? But the quality is great. Battery life is good.
I ran into the same thing.
The keyboard on mine failed. The replacement has an inferior screen and is missing some features of my first unit like the newer Live client and "driving directions" link on the neo interface.
It's kind of a bummer. The folks at the TMO store were clueless.

To be very honest, I've never met a TMO store clerk who had a clue. I pull my Shadow out at the store and thay are just in aww.
Make T-Mobile keep sending you replacements. I had to go through like 5 replacements in like two weeks in July until I got a good screen shadow. They'll usually waive the shipping off the bat so if the rep is gonna charge you, push to get it waived. They don't care about quality control so don't pay other than the first time. I paid for $15 express overnight the first time and they overnighted for free every other time.
The clueless reps won't believe you. They'll tell you to do a hard reset and go to contrast settings... so what I did was I made a tinyurl of a good thread with pictures right in the first post.
Before you waste too much breath and time, tell them to go to
www.tinyurl.com/shadowscreen (yes the reps have internet access).
That saved me so much time in the phone calls ordering more replacements. After the 2nd or so replacement they didn't believe me anymore so I had to show them.
After the 4th, they made me go to a T-Mobile store to have a rep confirm the issue in person. What I did was bring a friend's good shadow and a bad replacement. The rep couldn't tell a difference with both shadows on the home screen.
He thought I was just picky. Then it hit me to show him the pink T-Mo bootup screen. I tilted them side-by-side and he finally saw the difference and apologized for doubting me. The bad one would go from pink to red to brown while the good one would stay pink in any angle. He made the note on my account and customer care did not give me anymore problems. It didn't matter though because the next one was my good one.
Im not crazy?? Oh thank god!
Thats a huge help, thanks! I'm gonna go talk to them and show them the pictures and see what they say now.
New Hardware
Yes, T-Mobile decided to change the screen hardware, but I was not aware of the screen resolution being degraded. The only bulletin I have seen refers to the screen being changed to help with them not being as prone to cracking. I am one of those "store clerks" and I am not clueless...LOL.
Figures. Half the reason I bought the phone was the amazing screen quality. Any idea if its possible to get an original still?
The "inferior" quality screens started to appear about 9-10 months ago. Here is a post I submitted at Allshadow forums showing the problem in January. I've seen the pictures used in many other forums, which was my purpose in posting:
http://allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=367&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
Since then, my wife's Shadow died and we received a replacement. Unfortunately, it was a bad one... I requested a second one, and it was the same. Then I decided to just sell it rather than dealing with multiple replacements again. Besides, they are a bit more "resistant" to send you replacements 9 months after purchase as opposed to when you are still in your return period
The Shadow I am using has the perfect screen. If something happens to that one and I get a bad replacement, I'll probably sell it and get another HTC device...
So, I wonder...
I accidentally cracked the screen on my shadow the other day, so Im going to try buying a replacement screen online and see if I get lucky and score one of the original, higher quality screens. It would seem that T-mobile doesn't have the good one anymore (6 "crappy" replacements later). Lets just say they aren't very fond of me; 2 call center reps I talked to knew me by name when I would call back...
Anyway, the screen should be in soon, Ill post here with the results
Finally!
Well, I saw an auction for a Shadow on ebay, and thanks to the wonderful pictures the seller posted, I could tell it was an original Shadow, with the original, glorious screen. It was kinda messed up otherwise, but I bought it anyway, took the screen out and put it in mine and voila, amazing Shadow!
Thanks for nothing T-mobile
I bought my Shadow on eBay a couple months ago and i've noticed the screen problem also, do you guys know i i'll able to get a replacement even if i didn't buy it new?
No, sadly. All of the current Shadows have the new, lower quality screen. You would have to find an original on ebay or from another person and switch the screen out (Or use the phone, if its intact)
I just hope the Shadow 2 doesn't also have the crappy screen.
strange problem
I bought a Shadow on ebay and found that the wifi working but the phone will not get a network. It would just show searching again and again. I bought another from ebay that was working well before a broken screen.I took the board from the last fone i bought and install it on the first. everything working apart from the WIfi showing "driver not installed". I then know it was the Dpad section so I changed it then wifi is working but screen color and quality change. I got a strange yellow color and at different viewing angles it would change.I reused the first Dpad and everything is ok apart from wifi. Do you need a matching Dpad flex for special screen?? and wifi???

[Q] Did you have to replace your NookColor due to quality problems ?

I'm more and more concerned about the quality of the NookColor due to countless complaints about the display and charging issues.
I have NC on order and it makes me nerves since I'm not located in US
Did you have to replace your NookColor ?
PLEASE PEOPLE VOTE, even if you have nothing to say to get large sample of users to see if this is real problem
THANKS
107 votes now and about 30% failure rate is very bad Looks like it is not unusual to return the device several times. Shame on the manufacturer to have this kind of quality control!
Yes, I had to replace my NC (Christmas gift) within the first 2 days. However, it was due to a sound issue - also discussed on several websites - and it couldn't have been an easier process. My local B&N said that of the hundreds of NCs they'd sold, mine was only the 2nd exchanged. I think that's a pretty safe ratio. My new one has had no quality issues at all. Given that I've had to replace PCs, smartphones and other electronics for quality issues, this doesn't seem too out of the norm.
I've had to replace mine as well. First due to sound issues. Now the piece of plastic around the "N" button isn't completely flush with the screen. I'm not taking it back for that reason because the rest of the hardware is fine. I do, however, have to get a new NC cable since the one i have now won't charge my NC. If it's not one thing, it's another.
Had to replace mine too, xmas gift, due to screen quality. There was a lot of light leaking along the bottom edge and a dead pixel. Super fast and easy, even transfered the extended warranty right over to the new serial. New NC is perfect so far.
Those with sound issues what were your symptoms?
Mine's been great. I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone from buying.... I'm not discounting the issues people have had (multiple returns is certainly eyebrow-raising), but I'm sure for every problem you hear about on the forums, there are many with no problems that you just don't hear about.
Mine has been great, aside from one dead pixel. Can't even notice it for the most part, especially since adding one of the anti-glare screen covers.
Sent from my LogicPD Zoom2 using XDA App
I just replaced mine today for sound issues!! Every time it would hibernate I would lose all sounds and the only way to get them back was to reboot.
Not an issue in sight. No screen problems. No sound issues. My biggest complaint is no bluetooth.
Sent from my NC 1.0.1 AN2.12.18
Thanks for all replies folks!
I feel better now
It will be interesting to see more votes in couple days.
No problems at all here 3 weeks in. I visit the B&N forums somewhat frequently and never heard of the sound problem before reading this thread.
My biggest problem is reboots after rooting.
First one dust under screen, dead pixel dead center.
Second one dead pixel lower right corner.
If you look at various sites, you will realize that there really is a quality problem that seems to be more centralized to screen issues/plastic noise.
Also realize that most of the issues are not major hardware failures but simple flaws.
Another thing to notice is that people are willing to exchange multiple times in efforts to find a keeper because the unit is just that good.
3rd one is on it's way! 1st & 2nd one had display issues...!!! Stupid me bought it online & as a bonus, it can't be exchanged in local B&N shops...
Yep ... 5 times. 6th (current) one is great, first 5 all had dead pixels.
I suppose it does say something about how awesome I find the device (once rooted), for me to go through that much trouble driving around getting it replaced ...
Got mine on release day and have had -0- problems ... got a second one a week b4 Christmas and it also was 'perfect' .. no performance or plastic problems ... live in a 'low demand' area I think and perhaps B&N is 'reprocessing' some of the returns that then get shipped to high demand area? Or maybe it's just luck of the draw ... anyway am really pleased with the two I have ...
3 weeks of hard use and no problems, but not rooted. yet.....
My front Bezel starting becoming unstuck at day 12 of the 14 day return period. It was showing the stretching glue on the left side that creaked. I noticed it warping and looked at it in landscape mode from the top.. Surprise!

Ok, I am B&N is sending my 3rd replacement. (Not Rooted!)
1st one would not boot/reset after plugging it in to recharge.
2nd one reboots and reloads on its own. Called tech. support and had me do a factory reset but the next day did the same thing but came up with an install failure.
My cousin bought one on release date and had no problems with her's.
My first one(Tursday) came OOB with a borked USB port on the NC. I managed to get the cable inserted twice on Thursday(almost took it back the first time that I plugged it in but the cable finally went in as I was about to give up). The next morning no amount fiddling would get the connector to insert properly.
Had a horrible time exchanging it. The idiot at the register kept trying to tell me that it was "fine" and that was how it was "supposed to be" until I made him hook up the power adapter, point out no LED, took it over to the demo unit and demonstrated there, got them to get their charger out try it in the obviously defective one and couldn't insert that cable either. Finally they gave in and deigned to exchange it. After all of that I had decided to check the exchanges connector right then and there, and lo and behold it was just like the demo unit and obvious VERY clearly inserting unlike the defective unit.
B&N have crappy QA, cs, and sales. No wonder they're in trouble... I think that if anything crops up w/this one before my 14d are up its going back permanently. I probably should've bought it from the Worst Buy literally across the street or Walmart for better cs alone.
Who is manufacturing the NC for B&N ?

IIRC correctly , the hardware is by Inventec (Taiwan). As far as problems, none... nada... zero... zilch with mine, nor have I had problems with either of the "classic" Nook ereaders that we have.

Samsung Galaxy Note Pixellation, Black Crush, Black Clipping and Samsung's Answer

Hi, as you may see I am a new member to this forums. As soon as I got off the phone from Samsung's customer service I had no choice but to throw a rant and some conceptions.
I know this issue has popped up here before so it is a great place to start. Anyway... As you may have guessed from the title I am suffering from the pixellation issue also known as black crush or black clipping. I have displayed the gamma test pattern on my screen and well my screen cuts off at the number 3.
Now the thing about the gamma test I have displayed it on a Galaxy S3 and a MacBook screen and those seem more natural then the Galaxy Note. By natural I mean you can not see all of the numbers at all, only quite few as it gradually goes to black really quickly in comparison to the Galaxy Note where you can see almost all numbers!
Anyway I received this phone as a present, transferred a couple of movies and watched in a dark room (this problem is most visible in low light conditions). Found the pixellation an issue as it has never occurred on any of my other gadgets and laptops. So did some research and found it to be a common fault with the handset.
So I called Samsung and they agreed for me to send it in for repair. Sent it in waited and received my handset.. Fixed? Nope! No fault found (quite odd) Also scratched my NEW Official flip back cover to add insult to injury.
Now I call up Samsung again and they give me the number to the repair center and tell me to take it up with them. So I do, I explain the problem to the guy and he seems to understand, also mention the back cover and he says he will put through a replacement great.
So this time I send in the phone again BUT with the Gamma test pattern as the home screen wallpaper (no icons) and a video (shot from the camera to prove it wasn't a resolution issue as one of many Samsung's excuses to my problem). Wrote that I've done so on the paper and explained the problem again in DETAIL.
I wait and I receive my phone back again, open the box and again no fault found. Now at this point I call up Samsung who now send me through to the customer services. I explain to them about what I've gone through and they claim they can't do anything as they haven't found any problems. So I claim they are overlooking the problem and that I want a replacement.
No way was I going to waste my time sending my phone in for repair again. So I'm told to get an engineer report describing the problem and they will fix it this time round, I tell them I am an engineer my self and work with phones so can send through my own report (which they were happy with). The 'report' I sent was pretty much the same as the note I sent through both times when sending the phone in for repair.
I now await for Samsung to get back to me but get no reply. I end up calling them myself and get nothing but more excuses and again to make matters worse they didn't actually put through an order for my back cover and claim it was scratched when it was received (luckily I took pictures before sending my phone through).
So long story short it seems to be a very common problem and to make matters worse the customer service is horrendous! I hope we can widespread these issues to people who may not be aware. I recommend not buying this phone even though it is probably the best phone I've used (and I've used a LOT of phones).
i know how you feel,
this issue is SUCH an eyesore
considering the price,
in my case it tantamounts to 4 months salary
i got it coz its a phablet, the screen size suits me, and there are many plus points... but
theres this user in another thread said - thanks for tips for reducing it, i felt ashamed to show videos to my friends on my phone
the best we can do is throw it back in their face, publish it in open forums ( satish has done a lot to create awareness)
Exactly, it isn't cheap neither! I have posted my story to BBC Watchdog.
I'm sure if we get enough people to complain they will pick up the story, especially since it was the official olympics sponsored phone!
The thing is they didn't even attempt to repair the phone all they ever did was flash the phone to Gingerbread and claimed they 'upgraded the software' even though I had installed the latest ICS (who are they fooling?)

I am pretty happy with mine, considering it's the D6616 T-mobile version and flashing anything besides stock is not doable at the moment it still satisfies me.
I had an xperia z ultra and besides the poor quality camera, I loved the phone. After selling it, I went back to my note 3 then the g3, sold my note and gave the wife the g3 when T-mobile put the Z3 on sale for 500. Sure it's not perfect but what is? I have no display issues, glass and frame line up and tested the waterproof ability of the phone prior to getting it wet, did that because I understand that errors in manufacturing can and do happen.
If you have issues with the phone, contact your provider or Sony, it has a warranty because they also know errors in manufacturing occur. I always go back to T-mobile when I have issues, they have always handled it for me.
As an example, when I decided to get this phone, did some research on it and found the screen is subject to cracks caused by temperature changes, I asked the T-mobile rep about it and he had heard of that, I asked him to note my account with the issue and that if I have that issue they will send me a new phone, he was more then happy to do that. Once I received my phone, knowing I have a 14 day buyers remorse I called T-mobile back and verified that my account was notated about the screen and that if I have that issue, they will infact replace it, which they will.
Point of all this is know what you are buying and know that you have certain rights as explained in the warranty, I have always found if you approach them in a polite manner, most people will help you, the times they don't I hang up and call right back, get a different rep and try again.

Yes I went to repair center to claim warranty, and after ten days they gave it back to me with few more scratches and wrote they cant find any fault, so I took photo of the display showing issue (lucky me I got gift from my brother Samsung NX1000, making some nice photos) and transferred it to Z3 and set it as wallpaper LOL
Then went back to service and showed them after that they told me next week I will get my phone, and they should replace display and motherboard...
But all of this HW issues are well known so far...all reported...

Hey Man im thinking to take the warranty but it said, no water damage i meant realy can i warranty it or im pretty much a dead man
How am I loking to service repair in my country (Croatia). They are all tomfools. Not only they don't now how to repair big problems but are avouching you in their stupidity. I saw that many times. And I had my experience with them when back glass cracks on XPERIA Z2. When I brought them device I was polite and they told me that it is foulty device and I will probebly going to get new one. But after a week they called me asking me if I dropped it. And then I realized how stupid they are. Crack was one line from edge of phone to the camera, not from some center point of impact if you understand me. And they were trying to avouch me that this was dropp and warrenty is off. So when I threatened them with accusation they told me they will advise with Sony UK. After 10 days servicce repair gave me new XPERIA Z2.
So you have to be persistent if you wan't to achieve something. It is not Sony to blame if repair service is bad in your country.
So heres my opinion. Just dont believe in sony's advertising . If you know an electronic device will spoil in the water, well dont put your device in water. I dont say sony doesnt have responsabilities. It happened to me.
I put my xperia z3 in water then i lost signal and data. When i take my device to warranty after two weeks i just got the answer : "does not apply for misuse of the device" .
So Sony is telling me something. They dont care about costumers or costumers having troubles with their device. They just care about selling lies, because when someone tells them they just did what their advertising told them what can you do then is your fault.
Anyway.... I am so disappointed about Sony. Is a good device. The best i have ever had but in customer care they stink

So.... nobody has a solution for the Mobile data problem and No Signal?
In Australia, Sony have been taken to task on the whole waterproof claim. They have pretty much said that they will replace devices with water damage.
Thankfully, we have strong consumer protection laws to hold them to account.

I'm sorry to hear Sony has a bad camera because Sony has a long-standing reputation for its excellent camera and even Samsung uses Sony's camera on their cellphones. I'll never put my phone into water to test its waterproof. I'd rather try the pressure sensor thing.

Not bad at all, camera is at least good if not better then good...
Z3 is a fantastic device. Along with the Note 2 (before Samsung's awful firmware upgrade which trashed it) it's the best phone I've ever had. However, like many others have found, it simply isn't waterproof. Mine got replaced but I now treat my new one like I would all previous phones i.e. keep it away from water.
wifi reception is terrible. i am at hotel now. i can even watch video with my asus tablet but xperia z3 doesn't even connect to same wifi. i am considering to sell this phone because of that.
the phone always saying "saved" for the connection.
I have this terrible WiFi too on Sony products I've ever gottten.. BEFORE I got my Z3, the WiFi reception is great to me, better than my old Xmp, XL, and GTab 2 10.1

Xperia Z5 problems finally sorted - 5th attempt!

This is absolutely ridiculous! I have replaced the Xperia Z5 four times now the 5th unit I have finally has no issues. I ordered it directly from Sony (luckily not from Amazon as they probably would just kept “repairing” the same unit by resetting it to factory settings and each time it would take me weeks to get my phone back…) That's what it took to finally get the phone without any problems...
The first phone did not have any build quality issues and had absolutely no gaps between the screen and the frame. For a flagship phone, not being able to store my “pocket fluff” between the screen and the frame is absolutely unacceptable so I asked for a replacement.
Second unit did not randomly restart even once! I tried everything and it just would not restart at all. I really wanted to see the LED light blinking red at least once but apparently Sony decided that random restarts are not what the customer wants! Again I asked for a replacement.
Third phone's both speakers were equally loud. I was expecting that the bottom speaker will be noticeably quieter. My left ear is not as good as it used to be (courtesy of Vietcong) so was hoping the sound will be nicely balanced. Unfortunately this was a problem for me because you cannot adjust the L/R speaker balance in YouTube app so every time I watched videos the sound was much quieter on the left side of the phone. It was very annoying so again I asked for the phone to be replaced.
At this point you probably wonder why I didn’t give up and go for a different brand. Well, I just really like the Omni balance design and you can easily call me a Sony fanboy as almost all of my electronics are Sony. It did however make me consider switching camps but ultimately I decided to give them another chance.
Fourth phone I really hoped will have all these amazing features people here are talking about. And it did!! Unfortunately the heating element did not work properly and I was able to record the 1080p 60fps and 4K videos for longer than 3 minutes in room temperature (UK room temperature not Bangkok room temperature). I even managed to record 4K video for 15 minutes once! Who on earth would need such long videos! On top of that I was really hoping to use it as a hand warmer in the winter but since the heating element did not work properly I was unable to. In addition, when playing demanding games the phone would not shut itself off after 5+ minutes and because of that I almost got addicted to Candy Crush Saga. I thought that I’m now so close to getting a perfect unit I have to try for the last time…
And it finally happened!!!! The fifth phone I got is perfect and it finally has all these amazing features mentioned in this forum! It has a nice gaps to store my pocket fluff, the speakers are amazingly unbalanced, it does randomly restarts itself to make my life more unpredictable and it warms up nicely when making videos or playing games to the point when it shuts itself off.
And now the cherry on the cake…are you ready for it????!!!
All previous four phones were missing Sony’s amazing built in filter giving this cool effect of blurring the left side of the photos!!! Yes!!! You read it right!!! I finally have the Z5 that does have a proper “left-hand-side-photo-blur” (“LHSPB”) effect built in!!!! Now I can finally uninstall Instagram as this is the only filter I will ever use!!
Anyway, apologies for the long post but I just wanted to share my happiness and thank Sony for amazing customer service and all the fun I had replacing all these phones
P.S. Here’s the link to the photos I took to prove that I have the phone with the LHSPB filter that’s working properly!!

Seems like you are plagued by bad luck bre.
Happy for you for finding a suitable and perfect device which meet all commercial announcement.
From my side I did not succeed yet to have a phone with all elements working as they should be.
I currently am waiting for a 12th replacement... I am staying with this brand as a lot of people are satified with (and also becuse I am coming from the perfect XZ).
Nevertheless, Sonny has to take care about their manufacturing quality issue as from my point of view it is becoming unacceptable...
I will post later on if the 14th device is the good one...
Finger crossed...
For the story, I have encountered :
- Left hand blur issue (x3)
- Screen Issue (white spot on different areas) (x2)
- Camera Button issue (focussing but not shooting)
- Unglued back glass
- Bad speaker (x2)
- Jack hole not working
- Heating issue while recording
- Soft brick or HW brick after MM Update
@chrisftlse, that's a real dedication to sticking with Sony I'd probably do the same and people like us are probably part of the problem. If people just stopped buying Sony phones after experiencing problems they would have to do something in the end.
I also experienced smaller issues which I didn't mention earlier:
1. Rattling vibration module;
2. Uneven and sticking out sim card flap;
3. Bluetooth skipping after MM update (surprisingly the phone I have now seems to be OK);
4. Shutter button not working properly; and
5. Camera focus problems (in 2 out of 5 units I had);
I hope this time you'll finally get the proper phone that's in usable condition. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for your encouragements,
I will keep you posted as soon as I receive my New Device
@ OP.. lol. Really enjoyed reading your post. Hillarious (excellent sense of humour) as it is but I do feel for you as I've myself been that route! Anyway, good luck and enjoy your phone with "LHSPB filter".. lol!

Could you post a picture taken with the new device, the one that has no blur?

Happy for you for finding a suitable and perfect device which meet all commercial announcement.
From my side I did not succeed yet to have a phone with all elements working as they should be.

This is the bit that I do not understand: are these photos blur-free, or do they exhibit blur?
I can't understand with your first post if these are indeed supposed to be blur free or not.

Yes I can understand your point of view but I currently am engaged with a provider contract (Orange to name it) and unfortunately they are refusing to either propose me another brand/model either to cancel the contract so I have escalated this to their complaint manager.
BTW, as this XZ5 did not work for me, I do not pay any monthly fee since November last year... small compensation
I am waiting their call and perhaps switch to the XZ5 Premium instead of the normal one as I do not want either to go to another and available brand from their catalog (iPhone, Samsung, Huawei) may be I will decide to switch to the HTC 10 but I really prefer the Sony one
I don't think there is. Previous phones I had were severely affected but unfortunately I don't have any photos. Maybe XDA-Developers community could judge?
Also you can find a long thread here that has many examples of photos blur.

Following the link provided in your first post goo.gl/WGbQjS, look at the trees in the top-right areas. And your device probably has slight right hand side blur, I would say.
ALL Z5 devices will exhibit blur. I've been through all the messages in this forum and in the Sony Mobile forum, and there always is blur in the corners. Most people agree here, right? But I go further: there is always a side which is a tiny little bit blurrier than the other. In all cases. The lens is never 100% well centered.
But where you're right is that, in some cases, the blur is just too pronounced. In this case, you see it clearly, and the only solution is to exchange the device.
I don't believe many devices are really bad, and I also don't believe the Revision number makes a difference. I have a Rev 1 device bought last month, and I only have slight blurring on the right side, that, I take, is a side effect of the wide angle lens, more than a manufacturing defect from Sony.
On this forum and on Sony Mobile, you will find here and there a few pictures with blur-prone lighting conditions in the corners which nevertheless are 100% blur free : these are FAKES. The reason is extremely simple: even on the left corners of my pictures, that is, my clear, non-blurry side, there is a tiny bit of blur, that I can see and measure. Meaning all corners are affected to some extent. Meaning it is not possible to get a blur-free picture (corner blur). It's that simple.

I don't believe it is possible to have 14 faulty devices in a row - this is what I meant. In probabilistic law, the chances are incredibly low. Go play and play the lottery, I would say
Well, the Xperia X will be available very shortly. It would be silly to switch to another brand if you like Sony.
It seems the X won't have a very compact version like the Z5 have. Makes me comfortable with my choice of the Z5C. And BTW the Z5P seems affected just as much as the Z5 and Z5C.
@frankm87, I think you're missing a point here a little bit. Nobody is really complaining about the blur and darkness in the corners as this is a normal effect caused by light in the lens called "vignetting" and every camera in the world suffers from it to some extent. The LHSPB problem with Z5 is a completely different thing and shows as a very distinctive and pronounced blur only on the left hand side of the photo which looks a little bit like smudged picture when you move your camera. you can also spot a very pronounced border where the blur ends in most cases and when you turn the phone upside down, the blur will be on the right side. In addition, every camera will have a bit softer focus on the side of the photo but this is different then the smudgy blur in Z5. In my opinion the camera I got does not suffer from the LHSPB issue and all softer focus is either vignetting or normal softer focus in the far edges.
@chrisftlse, One guy in UK had the same issue and actually threatened Sony with lawsuit and Sony agreed to buy him out from his contract and offered compensation. His problem was similar as he kept getting faulty Z5's and network operator refused to exchanged it to a different model as he signed contract for Z5. At least they offer you different models.

Are you talking about CerberusSco? He did keep the phone, and offered it to his son. Proof Sony's phones aren't THAT bad, huh
As for the left hand blur issue, I don't think it is as binary as you say. And none of the pictures I have seen on the forums with the blur issue have a pronounced border where the blur ends.

Yeah, that's the guy I was talking about Never said they're bad, it's just that Sony's quality check process is lacking and they're not exactly the best in terms of customer service I love my Xperia Z5 and I also had Z2 which was a great phone but with its own unique problems. All in all, Sony does make great phones
Yeah, I agree it's not so black and white with the LHSPB. Maybe I wasn't explaining properly but the border is not like sharp line, more like an area where you can start seeing that the blur gets much smaller.

Sounds to me like the store/vendor is providing him with returned phones hopping one of them will stick. 14 faulty ones in a row just is impossible if you buy in a regular store. That or there is something fishy going on with the storytelling here. You know unicorns and magic wands. But I believe he is being played out by the store. Would be interesting to know the serial and revision number from all of the 14 phones.

Hi XZ5 lovers,
Just to update my situation, my carrier finally came back to me with a proposal:
1- Change again the defective XZ5 with a brand new one (new box)
2- Change to any other model
I have selected the 2 option and now running the HTC 10
I am very sad cause I liked this phone so much (despite all encountered issues) but I have decided to turn the Sony's page for now on...
But I did not tell my last word I am purchasing a brand new XZ5 for my wife

So.. You bought a used one and/or had your Z5 exchanged for used ones by the store instead of brand new ones? That explains why you got so many faulty ones one after another. You where getting returned faulty phones as exchange units. So in short this has nothing to do with Sony and all to do with the store playing faul game with you.
