do a A carrier reset is almost always necessary if you’re activating a device or if you’re having trouble receiving voice, text, or a data connection. This reset sends your device’s new information to the network so that you can get service.
Note: If unable to perform reset over WiFi, disable option in settings and connect to mobile data.
Android Phones
Connect to Wi-Fi (if available)
Go to the dial pad or phone app
Enter ##72786#
Confirm the reset
Allow the device to restart and go through the activation processNote: Certain legacy devices may require an MSL code. If your device requires one, we recommend submitting a ticket to Support to obtain the code.

Looking for some help
I think this is the right place to post about this. I have an lg stylo 2 and I have not received the update for android 7 yet. I have tried restarting the phone and turning the phone off and taking the battery out for ten seconds. Im wondering if anyone here has heard of this happening or what I can do about it.

I also did not receive the update. Standard methods to accelerate the receipt of the update does not help.

My update went flawlessly. However I'm underwhelmed. I don't see a lot of difference other than notifications.

I just received this update Tuesday. Installed no problem.
Changes I've noticed:
Move "most" apps to SD Card
Ability to change themes
Alt Tabbing recent apps
Multi-Window and resize apps
More customization for Quick Settings
Increase Display density
New Emojis! 72 I think?
Day Dream is now called Screen Saver
New Improved File Manager
Do Not Disturb option
"Noob" Section to highlight important tabs
There's a bunch of other stuff as well. So far I like it.

I feel you @Jralph21
On my Boost Stylo 2 I did the 7.0 update a few weeks ago and all was well then 2 days ago this update popped up so I installed it and BAM! my phone was stuck in "SERVICE DISABLED" ESN was "unknown" and..
After calling Boost and LG I had to send it in under warranty. Luckily it was still under warranty.
Be careful guys! This has never happened to me before.. I now fear updates

Just thought id say my stylo 2 received the the android 7 update today. Update went flawlessly. If you haven't received the update yet, give it another week or two.

Hey since I upgraded almost NONE of my apps are sending notifications. I saw something about cleaning the system cache in recovery mode but I can't get there. Only hard reset and safe. How the hell do I get the notifications back?

Off Screen Memo
So I have been using the off screen memo a lot lately and its really cool. Very useful for writing notes, milk/eggs reminder, getting that hot girls (or guys) number or whatever you need. Or just draw to pass time.
Go to settings > pen > screen off memo. Turn on.
Now, with the screen off, remove the pen/stylus. A black screen will pop up and you can now write or draw right on the screen. You can change the pen style and color too.
Just thought I'd share for those who don't know about this function. :good:

Try this:
No guarantees though...
1. Power down your device
2. Press and hold Volume Down and Power simultaneously until you see the boot screen
3. Use Volume Down to navigate to Recovery Mode
4. Press Power to confirm
5. Wait until you see the Android robot then hold down Power. Press and release Volume Up
6. Navigate with Volume Down to the Wipe Cache Partition option
7. Press Power to select
8. Use Volume Down to highlight the Yes option
9. Press Power to select
10. Press Power to reboot
or you may have to uninstall and reinstall the apps that aren't cooperating.

I updated to 7 a couple of days ago. I like the update, except that I seem to be having more power drain than before - "Call Services" being the main culprit. I've tried looking up what that is, but really haven't found much of anything on it. Just tried clearing Cache Partition - will update if that seemed to do anything.
Any suggestions?
I should also add that my Voice Search icon and "app" disappeared completely - but I can get them back if I switch from "Home" to "Easy Home", but lose again when switching back. The work around was to download a shortcut making app to create a shortcut for it.

Ever since I updated my LG Stylo 2 to 7.0, my phone's brightness keeps dimming or adjusting, and I cannot adjust it back to 100% it says. "Unable to brighten due to high temperatures, please try again later."
It never did this before, but after I applied the update, it's now giving me problems. Is their a way I can remove this, it's annoying.
Thank You.

Battery life since 2.3.3. upgrade...

Anyone else noticed their battery life seriously degrade from 2.3 to 2.3.3? Wish I hadn't upgraded now :O(
Just me then.
I got the opposite effect, battery life increased...you checked HTC sense for anything syncing that you don't need, email and gmail apps for any duplicate accounts or maybe WiFi is on full power?

Ah..checked some of the settings and backed off or disabled syncing. I normally disable syncing when I dont need anyway and even then I seem to be getting poor battery performance (compared to how it was).
Wifi I hardly use, its off.
I've tweaked some settings and I guess I can see how I go.
Thanks for the input.
I noticed a dip in battery life as well when I updated. After disabling HTC SENCE under accounts and sync, my battery usage went back to usable levels. I have to say, it never did come back to the pre-update usage.
I too had battery problems after the update as well as wifi issues ffs! Anyway, an update sorted the wifi but not the battery.
I was looking through the sticky and found a post by "Skullnubian" from December 2010 regarding battery problems relating to Issues After OTA Update 2.2.1. It works a treat. My battery is performing much much better today! I also have debugging "on" as apparently this shuts down a process that is constantly on in the background and also have auto brightness on....
Hi
I have found a solution for this issue that so far seems to work. After noticing that not even after resetting to factory defaults, Android System (process) persisted in misbehaving, I decided to take a different approach. The procedure involves resetting the phone to factory defaults but this time via the bootloader and recovery menu. To note that my device is not and has not yet been rooted so all options mentioned should be available in your ROM (I guess).
Procedure:
1st - Make sure that all your data is backed up(I use Mybackup pro)
2nd - Turn fast boot off: Settings>Applications>(uncheck)Fastboot
3rd - Now turn the phone Off (Power button and select power Off)
4th - Pressing the volume down button (don't release) then tap the Power button once and with the volume down key still pressed, a white (hBoot) screen should appear.
5th - First using the volume up/down to navigate through the options and power button to select: you select RECOVERY
#The phone should restart in Recovery mode: a picture of the phone with an exclamation mark is presented.
6th - Pressing VOLUME UP and POWER BUTTON should give you different option, scroll down and select Wipe data/factory reset. This should reset the Android side of things and wipe the Cache folder also.
7th - After that is done, you want to reboot the system back into the white (hBoot) screen, so select the first option and whilst rebooting keep the VOLUME DOWN button pressed. Once in the recovery menu you select FACTORY RESET.
At this point the phone should start up as normal and you set everything up again and it should be back to normal. I Would advise to wait a few minutes before restoring your backed up data, the apps should be fine to be restored.
This method worked well for me, the device has been of the charge at around 3 am [GMT] and remains with 30% at 17:45h after restoration and with normal use after about 10am.
Hope this works for you.

[Q] Droid RAZR M problems

First off let the say that I am very technically challenged... I seem to be having a problem w/ my Razr M is that my wifi keeps going off numerous times a day, the other things that use wifi in my home don't have this problem so don't think it is the router, I was told by someone to hard boot it, I'm have a h**l of a time doing that as it seems not to want to do that every time, now to clarify I am pressing both volumes and the power buttons and when my son found this forum and also another site it said to only press the lower volume one and power but when I did that all it did was take a screen shot.. I didn't find out till it was to late that the battery can't be taken out by me. Also what's up w/ an sd card I put one in but it won't transfer my apps to it? I had games on my other phone but when I couldn't put them on sd I just took all those off and put on my tablet. I only use about 3 apps any way, no music no signing on the internet, no FB or twitter, main reason is that I can't see little things that well so do those type of things on PC, if it wasn't for using a few apps to make a few buck(& GCs) to supplement my fixed income I wouldn't have even bought a smart phone.
So hopefully someone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated

regarding the WiFi - go to settings -> Wi-Fi -> advanced and UNCHECK "Avoid poor connections"; also make sure you have the latest update, as that update supposedly improved signal strength (go to settings -> about phone -> baseband version. if prior to May 2013, then you are NOT on the latest update
regarding apps, this is a feature of the operating system (Android Jelly Bean) - so moving apps is not possible.

Sorry I forgot to mention that it was flashed for a prepaid carrier, guess that might make a difference. I did the setting thing already,
I am getting an update which I figure must be from "phone" but it won't install, it comes up many times a day, as the only options I have is later & install but since I hit install first time I saw it and it wouldn't I just now hit later. So any thing I can try for the hard boot?

a hard reboot will not remove the notification. I presume the phone has NOT been rooted nor bootloader unlocked?
to perform a hard reboot, trying pressing and holding down the power button for 3 seconds. if all you see is a power off, then choose that. wait about one minute, then turn it back on.

I have to guess not as I really don't know.....
Did jelly bean change what you can do w/ apps, I had my apps on the sd card when I had a Droid X
well all the 3 seconds do is turn the phone off of which I have done a number of time, it doesn't do any thing, wifi will come back on it's own at some point don't know how long between off & on as I don't see it come back

oh, you mean a hard RESET? that could do it, but you would lose all of your data (anything not saved to the external card - which could include photos). it would be like you just got a new phone. but I'm not so sure a hard reset would do the trick. however, if you have the time and don't mind, then perform a hard reset: it's under settings - not sure where as I'm on 4.2.2 now, but look for backup/restore or security -> factory reset
but before that, contact VZW - they may suggest a "safe mode"
yes, JB disabled the ability to move apps to the external card, as they felt the phone would run smoother with the apps stored in the internal storage.

Remote issue.

Lately my remote seems to be going to sleep on me.
If I'm in any particular app or Kodi if my remote is idle for any length of time it lags on the first click or two then it starts working fine. Any idea what could be going on, never noticed this happening before. Thanks.
I have the same issue
Same issue
same here, super annoying. I'm on 7.1.2 May security update
I think I fixed it
I too had just started having this problem and it was driving me nuts! I think I just fixed it though. Some of this might be unnecessary additional steps but here is what I did:
1. Go to Settings > Apps
2. Under System Apps scroll to and click "Android TV Remote Service"
3. Click "Uninstall updates" and "Clear data"
4. Back out to the main Settings list, scroll to "Remote & accessories" and click Nexus Remote > Unpair > Ok
5. Disconnect Nexus player from internet and unplug Nexus player power supply
6. Wait 10 seconds and reconnect power supply
7. Once it's powered up reconnect to internet
8. Re-pair the Nexus Player remote
9. Wait for the notification that the Android TV Remote Service is updating/updated
That's it. So far it's working like normal again. Hope it stays that way and works for you too!
Deleted.
same problem here...i press some button and nexus player responds after 5-7 secs..
I've suddenly started to experience this problem as well. After it drops the connection, when I press a button on the remote, the light will flash while it reconnects—typically 3-5 seconds. I haven't experienced this behaviour before. Could this actually have been caused by an update? I'm also on 7.1.2. Just odd that we all suddenly seem to be experiencing the same issue...
im on 8.0 so version doesnt make a difference...what can we do?
Has anyone tried my fix above? I've had no further issues since I did it.

Because you have another operating system - ver.8 right?
I had it working by only a small change or two from the original instructions with running 8 and worked a treat...
Then another forced update, another set of them dumping back on the standard apps, but that's another story grrr. And tried the above again with small changes like before but nothing.
Still a great bit of kit when they're not 'improving' it, now using the remote on the phone and the missus keeps going 'Who you texting?'
Had the same issue here. I turned off Wi-Fi and it started working fine again, so now I'm using a cheap usb 2.0 Ethernet adapter instead of Wi-Fi.
I stopped having this problem two days ago. I don't know if they silently updated a Google service or what but it's been working perfectly and I haven't changed anything.
Having this issue aswell on 8.0 any fix yet?
So it was fine for a while after I turned off Wi-Fi, and now it's falling asleep fast again, but this time it only flash twice before it wakes up, instead of 5 times.
Using my tv remote at the minute as a remote. Very annoying
Check this thread. Seems as though there might be a fix, haven't tried yet myself.

Mine did it again. I did what it says but smart Lock is still blank. Does it take a minute?
This happens on a regular (one a week for the last month) basis for me, it isn't really annoying except when I need it to work like when I'm at home and I'm carrying around my baby. lol In addition to @rignfool's post you might need to go back and check that Smart Lock is NOT in the menu before turning Smart Lock ON again in trusted agents. That has worked for me everytime versus toggling it on then off in the same time period.
Recurring issue
I constantly need to toggle on-off the security -> trust agents -> Smart Lock (Google) to make it work again.
Any suggestion to eliminate the issue?
It seems I have to do it every morning after I left it charged over-night.
Thank you
There's a normal security feature that if the phone has been idle/unused for 4 hours that you have to manually unlock again before using OK google. Verified with multiple users! My Mother is having the exact same problem though, that it keeps locking it over the course of using it via bluetooth in car (Yes I've read there's already issues) and having it in front of her during use. Literally happened hit or miss right after activation. Maybe I'll reset her phone and start over again.

LG-H918 - lg ims has stopped

I've had my LG V20 for over a year now... it has been working fine until this morning, when I've started getting a popup saying "lg ims has stopped", about every 10 seconds.
I've searched around Google for a solution to this, but cannot execute any of the solutions that they mention...
1. I have not installed any new apps on my phone in weeks now, so that's not the issue.
2. Many solutions say to call 277634#*# to open a config menu, then open 'IMS Settings' on this menu and change 'IP Version' to IPV4...
Unfortunately, while I can get to the config menu, if I open 'IMS Settings' menu, this error pops up, and switches me back to the previous menu...
This is nuts!!! Is there any way to actually fix this, other than factory reset, which I *really* don't want to do!!!!
Please Help??
I have the exact same problem. I just did a factory reset. Once I got to the part about adding recommended apps, the darn "Unfortunately, LG IMS has stopped" message started popping up again. So, from my experience, doing the factory reset does not help eliminate this problem. Now trying to figure out what to try next.

Did this just start, yesterday or today??
I'm wondering if LG has actually discontinued some service that the phone relies on??
I'm thinking of getting another V20 from ebay, because I *really* love this phone!! But I don't want to end up with another phone having the same issue...

A couple hours ago. As you have probably seen, the problem is not new. Would love to know why both of us were affected today.
I'm currently trying variations of what I've seen on this page:
What is LG IMS and How to Fix the “Unfortunately, LG IMS Has Stopped” issue? – The Shared Web
Okay, here's an update... I switched back to an old phone, then powered up my V20, and this error no longer occurred... I also was able finally to get to the 'IMS Settings' menu (after dialing 277634#*# as recommended at all sites for this issue)...
I tried each of these settings (recommended by various sources):
> set IP Version to IPV4V6 (default is IPV6V4)
> set IP Version to IPV6
> disable VoLTE
In each of these cases, once I inserted a valid SIM and rebooted, this error message began occurring again.
So my best guess at this point, is that LG has simply disabled something on the V20, and I just won't be able to use it any more, at least with MetroPCS/TMobile...
I replaced my 12 year old wireless access point this a few days ago. Thought maybe the new WAP with Wi-Fi 6 was causing the problem. Put my old WAP back. Reset the phone again. Message started again when I got to loading apps.
Found this video that was posted today about the problem. Already has almost 21k views. One of the commenters says he contacted LG and LG is supposedly working on it and will push out a fix in 24 to 48 hours.

Whoa !! Thanks for the update!! I sure hope this works...
I found this a few minutes ago. I also have a v20 and this worked for me, so hopefully it works for you as well. It says to put into airplane mode, which for me did not stop the pop ups. Removing the sim card works, but once I put it back in, the error occured until I re-followed these steps. So unfortunately, you will just have to put up with the pop-ups while doing this. It's been about 15 minutes and I haven't gotten the message, so it looks like I'm in the clear. Hopefully you will be, too.
Set your LG phone to airplane mode to prevent the error message from popping up over and over.
Head to Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> App info.
Tap the 3-dot menu in the top right corner and enable show system.
Look for com.lge.ims.rcsprovider in the list and tap it.
In the detailed overview for this app, hit the following three buttons in order: Clear cache, clear storage/data, and force stop. (Depending on the Android version on your phone, some of these three options may be found under storage information.)
You may have to repeat step 5 above multiple times for the problem to fix itself.
And the clear data/cache was under storage for me.

Just to save others some trouble, please note that this video, itself, just repeats the same non-working solutions that everyone else suggested, none of which work, including factory reset.
However, the comments *do* appear to have further useful discussions of this subject... so we now can be sure that this is an LG issue... hopefully we'll have a solution in a day or two...
Thank you again, @kcclark99, for finding and sharing this video with all of its comments!!

Same here. The only problem is that removing the sim card while doing the method that I found was pointless, as once I put the sim card back in, the problem came back. Though once O followed the method with the sim card in, it went away and has stayed away. For now, at least. I assume turning off the phone will reset whatever I did, and I may have to do it again.
Still no fix for this from T-Mobile or LG.

Well, all we can do now is wait...

I should have added not to pay attention to the actual video. Thanks for correcting my oversight.

Works for me. I did only once. About 30 minutes, no pop-ups! Thank you.

Well, this *sort of* works with mine... however, every time I reboot the phone, I have to go through this sequence again...
That is not entirely a desirable solution !!
Later note: okay, I didn't read the original post clearly enough... @Arthilios already noted this issue...
Oh well, I can probably live with that!!
Putting the phone in airplane mode renders the phone basically useless. As soon as you turn on Wifi while in airplane mode, the error message pops back up. Can't switch to AT&T either because the T-Mobile's V20 doesn't work on AT&T anymore since AT&T turn off 3G service back in Feb 2022 even though the V20 is VoLTE capable. Another solution is pull the sim card out and just use it like a phone with blacklisted IMEI. LG said they're working on it but I doubt they're gonna push out an update for this 7 year old phone. Maybe they can make an app to take care of this. I think it's time to throw in the towel on LG and get other brands.

I want a phone that I can swap in a charged battery. When I looked at what was available two years ago, I found the V20 was still the best available, IMO. Current phones with that ability were low end models.
