Mate 9 Pro owner here. I was on the fence, but ultimately went for the 9 pro. Here's the deal as I saw it- the 9 pro and 10 plus are veeeeeery similar. They have the same SoC and many of the same internals. The big differences are display (9 pro has AMOLED) expandable storage (9 pro has none) and a slightly different camera (9 pro has f2.2 aperture on the rear) There are also small size and cosmetic differences, and the 9 pro has a bigger battery.
Though the claim is that the 9 pro does not have expandable storage, this might not truly be the case. According to my talk with Huawei's tech support, the 9 pro has the same sim/sd internals, just a different tray. The tech said none of them understand why Huawei set up the dual sim tray. So I bought another sim tray for a 9, and if it allows me to use my sd card, I will let the community know- it pretty much eliminates the biggest negative of this phone. There are some other considerations:
- Indications are that the 9 pro's AMOLED is better for VR. It is already daydream ready. The bigger battery is a huge plus here. 10plus IPS will probably have better color representation and a few more ppi...
- Mate 9 pro international is going to be about $200 USD less than the equivalent 10 plus (128gb storage) which is looking to touch the $1K mark.
- 10 plus will have the extra f stop of 1.8 which is better in most ways. The software suite looks a bit better as well.
- 10 plus has the 5.1 skin, though Huawei claims 9 pro's will get that update when the 10's hit the market.
- If you are in the US, it honestly remains to be seen whether the 10's play well with carriers. I am on T Mobile and the 9 pro worked perfectly out of the box.
Honestly, if it turns out the sim tray works, the only real reason to get a 10 plus is the slight camera improvement. But it's going to be a couple hundred more in cost, and you get a smaller capacity battery.
Hope this helps.

Not sure what to think? I want most of the specs from the 6P to be in the 5X, 5.7 screen is just to big
that's too bad, even the 32GB version only has 2GB of RAM. they're going to miss a ton of sales due to this alone.
no SD card was expected, but people who are new to Nexus devices won't like that either.
sales will be even softer due to no carriers or brick & mortar retailers selling it.
for those wanting a ~5" device, next one to look fwd to will be the OnePlus Mini which should be out by Christmas.
I thought other leaked info indicated camera sensor is RGBW?
Well now we know that the price for 16GB is $379 (probably will be well over £300 I reckon) we can safely say this thing is not that competitive really, on specs or on price. Makes it an easy decision for me.
4K, 340fps?? really?
I skipped the nexus 6 last year, now again I'm disappointed. Not buying this.
Tapping on the toe with a new hat
dissapointed. but well see on the reviews
Wow really this is it! Was deciding the sell my oneplus two but now after this I'm keeping it!
HTC is announcing new phones tomorrow as well, including a 5" phone with mid-range specs (SD 617 chip) that looks just like an iPhone on the back. pretty sure that phone only has 2GB RAM as well.

no, but just figured i'd mention what else is coming available in the 5" size. of course, you could just unlock, root, and install a custom AOSP rom with HTC.
Hmm...so no snapdragon 820 and QHD display that were rumored.
hexacore. rrriiiight. I think I'll just get this for $140 and call it a day.

there's no AOSP for S6 due to the proprietary processor Samsung uses, it's essentially closed source so developers don't have access and thus really can't bother.

My eyes popped out looking at that too. Has to be a typo, unfortunately.
2GB ram is kinda retarded... I just cannot undestand why they did this....
I don't understand why the hell everyone wants more than 2 GBs of ram. It's a bloody phone...
I am happy with it. Just miss a 64GB option. And maybe G4's 3000mAh Battery.
Am am sure this will be again a hot seller...
For me, all they needed to do was pretty much an updated version of the original, but this time sort out the camera and battery.
I know many find the specs to be under what's expected. But in a few months time when the 5X is still smooth running the latest M and the S6 owners are still waiting, the 5X may be the smart choice.
Lets see what the reviews say about the Camera & Battery.

Honor 6X is gonna launch Soon. Get ready for it guys...

Huawei Honor has now officially confirmed that it will launch its Honor 6X smartphone on October 18th. The company has begun sending out invitations for the launch event in China.
The Honor 6X phone is expected to have the following specs:
1. 3GB of RAM just like the 5X
2. 5.5-inch 1080p display
3. 32GB of internal storage
4. Kirin 650 processor
5. Rear fingerprint scanner
6. USB Type-C port
7. Dual-SIM support with Dual Standby (Hybrid SIM Slot)
8. Dual Camera
9. 13MP Rear Camera
10. 5MP Selfie Camera
11. 3270mAH Battery
These hardware specifications may not be the same during the launch, but the handset is getting up to be another appealing mid-ranger.
The Honor 6X is expected to retail for around the same price as the 5X, which launched for $200 / £135 / Rs.12,999 last year.
Another variant for 4GB RAM and 64 GB internal will also be released it seems.
All the exact details will be known on October 18th during its Launch event at China.

Me too... My hand feels good with 5.2 inches. 5.5 is little difficult. Even my pant pockets feel difficult to hold it.
The size of Honor 7 and 8 is 5.2 inch which suits perfectly in my hand. But 5X won't.
Especially while accessing apps from the top left corner
5" for small hands, 5.5" for big hands (like google did with pixel) with no hardware compromises. That'll be perfect

The phone was launched by Bollywood celebs Randeep Hooda and Nimrat kaur. Honor President George Zhao graced the occasion. MTV presenter Bani J anchored the event.
The event was very successful with a large crowd from the media. Core fans made it even more special with their presence.
Let's talk about the design, look and specifications of the phone.
Honor 8 comes with The innovative bionic 12MP dual lenses, one lens allows for rich color and the other lens is monochrome to give your images more details, light and increased sharpness. Together they help you capture crisper, more detailed photos of stunning quality to match up the standard of a DSLR camera. Phone has a built-in dual ISP which improves focus, speed, and process time when you take pictures and hence the images are more stabilized, crisp and of best quality. Phone has a 8 MP front shooter as well with perfect selfie mode to give you the best in class selfie images.
Honor 8 comes with Android Marshmallow out of the box with Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 skin on top and sports a 5.2 inch full HD IPS screen display. The 5.2-inch FHD display with a 96% NTSC, color enhancement, and dynamic pixel-level contrast adjustment provides a better viewing experience, with vivid and crisp images. The display looks stunning. Phone is powered by Huawei’s in house Hi-Silicon Kirin 950 chipset (4x2.3 GHz Cortex-A72 & 4x1.8 GHz Cortex A53) with i5 co-processor and leading 16nm FinFET plus SoC coupled with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM enables flawless multitasking and seamless gaming.
The Honor 8 variant launched in India comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage and is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). On connectivity options, the Honor 8 includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (latest ac band is included for faster and better Wi-Fi connectivity), Bluetooth v4.2 which supports Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and fast charging support.
Phone will be available in few latest and popular color options in the market mainly Pearl White, Sapphire Blue, Sunrise Gold color variants in India. The sapphire blue color looks stunning and now we know the reason why the same was liked and appreciated in the European market and phone became very popular in the region and will surely start a trend of new color for handset.
The smartphone features a 3000mAh battery. With 9V/2A fast-charging technology the battery gets charged up to 47% in just 30 minutes and have you covered for the entire day so you need not to worry about the phone running out of juice in critical time. And this time user need not to worry about the fast charger to buy them separately as the phone comes with the fast charger out of the box.
Additionally, during the launch, the company also announced the Honor 8 Smart variant and Honor Holly 3 phone priced at Rs. 19,999 and Rs. 9,999 respectively.

Honor 8 Smart is similar to Honor 5C. There are few plus points in it which are mentioned in my post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5c/how-to/honor-5c-vs-honor-8-smart-difference-t3479156 . Still its not worth for double the amount of 5C.

Maybe later or not much people in India using dual sim yet...
Reliance Jio 4g has arrived india just now which is providing free calls and data till december 16.
Sinve it is a newly launched network, most of us are thinking to give it a try without sacrificing our primary sim.
So especially a this point of time where people are expecting dual sim, the single sim variant won't be that much useful as we are unable to use freely available things
Too bad they didn't go with dual sim

Huawei Mate 9 leaks in high resolution images 2 days in advance of release.

The Huawei Mate 9, which will be officially announced this month, has appeared in high resolution leaked photos showing the final unit with Leica-engineered dual-camera setup.
The leaked photos are consistent with material that's surfaced previously, showcasing a big metal smartphone with a dual-camera setup, accompanied by a dual-LED flash and laser autofocus module.
The handset is rumored to have a 5.9-inch display with 1080p resolution and is to be powered by the Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 960 flagship-tier processor, paired with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. The Huawei Mate 9 allegedly runs Android 7.0 Nougat skinned with the manufacturer's EMUI 5.0 interface.

Agreed.
Plus, the Kirin 960 isn't much faster as well (for non-gamers that is as the GPU-side however is massively quicker (but current games run just fine on the 950 as well, imho)) and pretty expensive so will hold onto the Mate 8 for the time being :good:
it is all about the price about this one, I am also disspointed with the camerabump and camera modul, it looks not very stylish and not up to huawies recent standards.
I am a gamer so for personally k960 is very much neeeded. The picture abouve I still see black borders against the screen this is disappointing, I think otherwise Nubia Z9 has done very good with this and I wish all other manufactures would do the same to create borderless screen
The leaks seem to be getting confirmed (or thrown out) as the 4th approaches. On a Note 4 (but running Note 7 softwate) and have a ROM'd MediaPad X2 (which was a PITA to update) . So I like rooted Huawei devices with new ROMs so looking at 3 very different devices:
In the spirit of the thread, my first pick
- Mate 9 mostly for the great devs here. Nougat would be a bonus, and hopefully chainfires work can be brought over. Not global (or including 4g then off the list.
- LeEco LePro 3 with flash rebate it is absurdly affordable and reasonably reviewed as a whole. Only 5.5 is a real deal thinker. 5.9 on the Mate much better by leaps and jumps ahead.
- Lenovo Phab Pro 2 out (for ordering) now, but holding for the Huawei intro press conference on the 4th. Bigger (like the 6.4), much less performance wise.
Two pictures from the phone.

Assuming this will be available in the US on the Huawei website as an unlocked version you can use in the US?
Opinion on it being my next phone over my Nexus 6p?
Two sensors (20MP+12MP) 4K video + OIS, new CPU, new GPU, Android 7.0, IR blaster, USB Type-C. Good update over Mate 8.
"Porsche Design" will be not for everyone. Especially design quite like Samsung - front main button ... and price of course.

Yes, can't wait to see the Mate 9! The Pixel xl is under specs and over priced for me. I'm on Nitrogen OS N 7.1 after a clean install & all is good!
I revisit family in akron every few years, but only in the summer!

Yeah, that's how I feel about the Pixel, but it being a new phone I'm like "man, I want a new phone" haha. This 6p has me loving Huawei. Best phone I've ever had ... I may try the 7.1 Pure Nexus tonight and just bite the bullet of a clean install.

The Honor 6X was one of my favorite budget phones of last year. It came out in October of 2016 and the next release is expected to come out in October as well. Here are all the rumors about the phone so far:
Price
The expected launch price for the Honor 7X is $225 USD. This is around the same price as the 6X which launched at just a little over $200 as well. This keeps the 'X' model phone as one of the best values that Honor has to offer.
Design
If the pictures above are accurate, we will be seeing a completely new design for the Honor 7x. This would be a great change since the 6x and 5x seemed to struggle to find their identity in this department.
Display
It shouldn't be a surprise that the Honor 7X will most likely come with a 1080x1920 display. Once again, we will probably see the same 5.5" screen size as well.
Storage
For storage options there will be 32GB and 64GB models. No word on if the SD card slot will still be there, but Honor has been pretty consistent with offering an SD card slot in all of their phones. There is no reason to expect not to see it in the 7X
Camera
As for the camera it's expected to have a dual-camera setup with 12MP monochrome sensor + 12MP RGB sensor.
Battery
Honor may be going for a massive 4000 mAh battery in the Honor 7X. This would be the most significant upgrade for this new device.
Chipset and RAM
Expect to see the Kirin 670 which is a mid-range chipset. There will most likely see 4GB of RAM in this phone, just like the previous 6X.
That's everything that is known about this phone so far.

This phone initially has been presented with the name Honor V9 Mini, but yesterday an unknown device received a 3C certification in China, revealing the phone's true name: Honor 7X. I read that the price will be around 1499 Yuan for the 32GB variant and 1799 Yuan for the 64GB, something like 188€ for the 1st and 224€ for the 2nd. The operative system should be Nougat 7.1 with EMUI 5.1, and it should mantain the same position of the central fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone, as the 6X. It should have an USB type-A port, and the hexa-core CPU should have 2 Moscow custom cores on 2,2 GHz, 4 Cortex A-53 cores on 2 GHz and the GPU should be a Mali-G7-MP4. Sadly, the good old 3,5mm audio jack should be missing. Oh yes, i've seen these 2 pictures that looks exactly the same phone from the picture in OP.

You're welcome. Battery size should be 4000 mAh, to me isn't that low compared to other batteries

What? Why usb type A port its not logical and why no headphone jack!! Do they want to ruin their phones

Dunno about the USB, but as i observed from recent reviews about recent devices on tech sites, the remotion of the headphone jack is a bad choice that other OEMs already took in consideration from at least one year on other phones... An example? There's a rumor saying that the Google Pixel 2 won't have it. It's only a rumor, but even the idea scares me.
Removing the headphone jack is a bad choice, especially for a mid-range device
Am I the only one finding similarity in design with OP5 except fingerprint scanner obviously

It takes so much time to release in india.
Due to Huawei's recent marketing decisions (removing every available update package from their database, not providing android 7.0 to Honor 5X, disabling via software some NFC chips on Honor 6X, etc) and the possibility that this phone will miss an headphone jack, I'm sure I won't ever buy, and neither suggest to anyone, it.
I prefer even number...so maybe 8x...
Looks promising
Hi, is there any chance that the honor 7X will be available in philippines
