S7 EDGE with FRP lock - black screen - won't boot - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

A week ago I bought a used s7 edge. The original owner had done a factory reset. My first thing was to flash the latest local stock rom, bootloader, and modem. Then I installed TWRP and then rooted. All great. After a few days, I got tempted by the new Nougat betas.
OK, so now I've got a huge mess. I updated to the Minotaur 7.0 beta (nice rom) and got it nicely set up. I'm quite sure that I enabled OEM Updates in Developer Options. I was trying a manual setup of the APN and it wasn't working. So I thought a reboot might solve it. When I rebooted, I got a black screen with a little red message at the top - Custom binary blocked by FRP lock.
So I have spent the afternoon on the Internet only to learn that Google and Samsung created that lock so that stolen phones cannot be easily put into service. If OEM updates are checked, that disables the lock. I don't know what happened but I have a phone with a black screen that won't boot. It will go into download mode so I will try to flash a stock rom.
OK, that worked. I lost 2 days set up but the rom is booting.

Hi.
Download the official firmware for your S7 and flash it with Odin. That should solve the problem.

Yes it did! I was very worried that the stock rom was MM and so I was going backward. But it worked! And now I am all set up again. Just wish I knew what triggered that so I could avoid it in the future....

Did you tilt the option about OEM unlock in develop settings? Also try to flash without setting any PIN or fingerprint in the official rom

How do I do this process with a Claro brand phone? I do not know what firmware to select, the list has every country but Unites States.

Edge panel crashing after updating to Android 6.0.1

Hello to all,
I have an issue with my S6 edge after updating it to Android 6.0.1.
All is working fine except an edge (side) panel. When I slide it to people edge it's ok, but when sliding to app edge I get notification that "application edge screen was closed". Restart opens it again but still is crashing the same way.
Already contacted Samsung - had to factory reset. That didn't help. Told me to contact service for further repairs.
Already wiped device in recovery mode - didn't help.
Already changed firmware by Odin to BTU (I'm polish) - didn't help
Already changed firmaware to XEO again - didn't help
Already changed firmware using 4 files (pit too) XEO - didn't help.
Can anyone help to resolve this issue?
What ROM are you currently on? Are you rooted? Do you use Titanium Backup or similar?
I ask because I once had the exact same problem. I'd accidentally frozen "Apps Edge"
in Titanium?
Otherwise, see if there's an Edge update in Samsung Apps. Or try pushing another Apps Edge apk into your current setup?
I'm having the same issue - it only seems to be the apps edge panel that crashes it. If I remove all the apps from the panel then re-add them it's ok for a while, then later it crashes again. It was fine & I was using it all the time before the last software update!
Phone details:
Samsung S6 Edge SM-G925F

How difficult would it be to add a couple lines in your post letting everyone know your phone's exact model,
which custom rom you are currently using and whether or not you have xposed framework installed?
And any other specific details.
Good luck,
Have a great day!

The App endge is alrady up to date.

"Warning: Your phone does not have active CSC code" - Reasons?

Hi all,
Last week I bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge through ebay. Everything has been great until it came time to plug in my recently purchased Gear VR which is coming up with a network error. After some searching for solutions, it appears that my phone isn't set to a specific country (so I guess it doesn't know what software to install). I have installed "Phone INFO" which shows as per the attached screenshot.
My question is what could have caused this? If I was to reinstall firmware or attempt to add a CSC could it cause issues? Is it likely the previous owner was just a tinkerer? Am worried If I add a CSC my phone may become blocked or something but If I don't I can't use my Gear VR
Any help or advice greatfully received.
what software version is on your phone ?
It looks like someone may have have upgraded your phone to nougat beta or a custom ropm. Nougat beta does not have a csc associated with it. You need to flash one after installing.nougat beta.
I suggest you ddownload one for your provider from samfirmware or contact the sellor and try to find out what was done to the phone.

The previous owner has probably installed a custom rom and that's why the csc is missing. If you don't have root, then I would recommend for you download the stock firmware and flash it with Odin and that should fix your problem.

Please see attached for the software info, does this looks like the beta? Thanks for the replies both, I'll look into this Odin and see what it's all about. I haven't done anything with firmwares for years, not since messing about with Nitdroid on my old Nokia N9, hopefully can still get to grips with it all!

Nope. not nougat
You can download full rom and flash through odin. Make sure you flash all 4 files (bl,ap,modem and CSC).
Here's what I thought happened.
Previous owner root phone(cause knox 0x1)
and probably update the firmware by flashing rom though odin or use custom rom. But he/she didn't know how to flash the full firmware though odin properly(or just don't want to. idk) because of the old modem(baseband APEQ) but new rom file(build APG3) and also missing CSC.
These probably mean he/she flashes only AP files(rom) in odin and ignore the other 2 files(modem and CSC) and might also bl file(bootloader).

Yeah that sounds very plausible, just can't imagine why they would root it and update firmware but not do it properly, every guide I've read directs you to use the appropriate CSC for your country. Well I've got Odin running as we speak, so fingers crossed I can get this working and that I'll be testing out the VR as soon as possible! Does put me off buying second hand in future, but I guess on the plus side at least I don't have a warranty to worry about and can have some fun with different firmware.
some small 3 rd party providers or regional area have csc which are not commonly available, so when you upgrade you would not want to touch the csc.
The sim you are using may not recognize the csc the previous sim card was using that is why it is giving you there error message.
Could be that, guess we'll never know.
As mentioned above I have flashed with the latest firmware and updated the CSC, fortunately it's all working now so thanks for all the support. My refurbishment check now shows as attached.

Hey, today afternoon was so boring therefore I'm wondering around threads and then i found your update here.
You can try it out if your problem isn't solved yet. I think it'll help because it's the official nova 7.0 nougat version for Europe. Do reply so that others can benefit from your experience.

Your linking a old version of the Nougat update for the Nova variant CAN-L01C432 and the CAN-L11C432 which if your not careful could damage your phone if you don't have that version of the Nova. There is the CAN-L01C432/CAN-L11C432 variants, the MLA-L03C654 variant, the CAN-L01C02 variant and a couple of others I believe.

my bad i didn't know that there are these many variants.. Thank you for notifying
Hi everyone, my first post here.
Looks like im in the same situation.
I have Nova Plus from Bell/Virgin Canada. MLA-L03. Purchased it on Caraigslist and after 2 month they blacklisted my Imei. I decided to root the phone and maybe change imei as the phone was useless anyways. So i installed TWRP and rooted it successfuly .
The problem was that i could never get diagnostic port open for Qualcomm QPST program. So i upgraded to Nougar 7.0 ( NRD90M) it got UNrooted and i wanted tio install a newer version of TWRP, i guess i got a wrong version. Now its properly screwed up. I have FRP Lock in fasboot, it makes fastboot useless as i cant adb flash boot, or flash recovery. I can boot back to OS but OEM Unlocking is off and grayed out and FRP Lock blocks all communication, so ADB or Fastboot commands dont get through. i get "waiting for device" crap in command line. SD card upgrade doesn't work either. I dont know why and eRecovery wants to download update but fails all the time. I dont know how to get rid of FPR lock. If i find anything i will post here.

Good News Guys >>>>Official T-Mobile Galaxy J7 Android 7.1.1 Nougat update released

Good News Guys >>>>Official T-Mobile Galaxy J7 Android 7.1.1 Nougat update released
We reported recently that the Galaxy J7 might soon receive the Nougat update. The handset was spotted at the Wi-Fi Alliance running a Nougat build. It was a big indication that the company was planning on rolling out the update soon.
T-Mobile has now started rolling out the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Galaxy J7. It’s one of the few devices that Samsung has updated straight to version 7.1.1 from Marshmallow.
T-Mobile Galaxy J7 Android 7.1.1 Nougat Update
T-Mobile has started rolling out the Nougat update for the Galaxy J7 over-the-air. However, the company’s support document for this handset is all over the place. It assigns version number Android 6.0.1, Android 7.0 and Android 7.1.1 to one single firmware version, J700TUVU3BQI5.
This is obviously not possible. Clearly, there are clerical issues with the document. That doesn’t mean the T-Mobile Galaxy J7 Android 7.1.1 Nougat update isn’t rolling out. Those who own this handset on T-Mobile will soon receive an update notification if they haven’t already.
This firmware is also available for download from our firmware section where the Android version is accurately mentioned as Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Despite the fact that this update has been released in October, it comes with the August security patch.
Galaxy J7 owners on T-Mobile can either wait for the update to go live in their region or simply download the firmware from our website.
Download 7.1.1 here and happy flashing J700TUVU3BQI5 - Galaxy J7 SM-J700T TMB USA (T-Mobile)

Tmobile received the update from samsung on 8/28. They filled it with their garbage and sent it last thursday, most of us flashed aqf1 stock and got it ota friday morning.i dont see any clerical errors or anything like that at all. And ive been digging through the build for a week. Im running it now. All internation j7 roms flash with this builds kernel, but reboot in the setup wiz, so once we get a good base there will be a ton of ports in this community. Also, we have found, edge screen, blf, high performance mode, and aod hidden but inactive in the phone. This build is something amazing folks.
Btw, sammobile is a useless, slow dinosaur. Updato via playstore is the best source for firmware.

U cannot in any capacity flash a stock firmware with twrp.u have to wipe your whole phone and go to download mode and flash the firmware via odin. Dont forget to unzip the file first so u have the unzipped form of it loaded in the ap slot
Aight I'm chill (no way at all to update without wiping my phone?) Like what if I don't wipe and flash in odin; will that lead to problems?

Updating S7 edge to Android 8.0

Hi guyz
I have purchased Galaxy S7 Edge SM-G935P but the i guess Tmobile firmware is currently installed. Is there anyway to confirm this.
Further, I want to upgrade to Android 8.0 but whenever I tap on system updates in settings it does not respond. I tried to update it with Samsung smart switch but it does not show any update.
Please suggest me a way to update my phone to android 8.0 without unlocking bootloader and rooting.
Thanks

Hey guys,
Use odin to update to oreo. After the update goes through its usual process, perform a cache wipe to further ensure a clean install and other temp files during installation. NOTE: For those that can't stand bloat, I bought package disabler pro (it was around 3.50 USD). I checked all bloat ware or apps I didn't use. This will further help battery life from my experience.
When all apps are checked, backspace out of the app and perform a restart on your phone. It will refresh your phone while all apps that were checked off while also be un-installed.
Wordy post yes but info is necessary for your benefit if you choose as such.

Not sure then as using Odin to flash official software is nothing too taxing. As long as you have downloaded the correct firmware for the 935P it should contain the correct bootloader and modem files for your device, possibly master reset through recovery and cache but other than that i cant give you any further advice.
