Lowest possible DPI for LeEco Pro3 - LeEco Le Pro3 Questions & Answers

What is the lowest possible DPI that we can go to for this phone?
I am coming from LG G3 using 520 DPI. I set the font size at 403 DPI for this phone and it seems to be quite large.

Set it to 360

Are there any options for lowering the dpi with the stock rom? I have been digging through the options but haven't seen anything yet.

texdroider seems to have no effect on fonts so i set it 350 from texdroider and then also used the adb shell to appropriate font size using this command
adb shell wm density 350 && adb reboot
it looks good now

yes, but i try to find a usual method to config it out, many of ROMs doesn't give a UI support of this issue
OP, try to follow these instructions

The density setting in build.prop changes every size onscreen not just the bottom like you need.

[TIP] Adjusting DPI without root

How to adjust your DPI without root, I believe the current DPI is around 300 I could be wrong.
To adjust the DPI follow the steps below, THIS DOES NOT REQUIRE ROOT.
Open settings and scroll all the way down to About
Open Software Information
Tap the build number quickly a couple times till it says "You're now a developer"
Head back into the main settings page and open the new Developer Options
Enable USB debugging
Install ADB on your computer (there are plenty of tutorials out there if you don't know how)
Start ADB and check if you see your device by typing
Code:
adb devices
If you see your phone go ahead and type
Code:
adb shell wm density 250
Reboot your phone to apply the effects system wide.
250 is the DPI set which I think looks the best for me. Adjust how you like it
NOTE: IT WILL LOOK WEIRD AT FIRST, REBOOT YOUR PHONE!
This is a great method. Use it often. Couple more commands:
Code:
adb shell wm density reset (set to default)
adb shell wm size 1080x1920 (emulate whatever resolution)
adb shell wm size reset (set to default)
What Screen Resolution have you chosen?

I noticed in the pics from your review consisted of smaller icons. I am assuming you changed the DPI to 250. I would like to know if you have tinkered with your screen resolution as well. If yes can you show us some screenshots? Does that have any other benefits like battery performance and processing speed?

Yes, you're correct the dpi was changed. There's no performance gain I see. I do this so I can fit more on the screen at once within apps, while browsing etc... For me this is half the value of an HD device - you can shrink stuff down to fit 2x as much, but tiny text still remains comfortably legible.
This can also be done within terminal emulator. For me, not successful unless entering su.

Mine is 256k. That should be how much data is held in the logs.
thanks...got it...it just goes to default by itself when closing developer option......
This is pretty cool, is there an adb command to readout the density what ever it's currently set at?
I ended up at 390, it gives a nice 5x5 grid.
Thanx, work fine! A little notice: Asus Powermanagment end in force closed when you change the DPI. Went back to orig. 480 and it works, when you need it
And next big issue Swift key doenst work with changed DPI. When changed i saw only a few very!! big letters. Keyboard not useable.
Thanks OP!
The issue with swiftkey is well known and documented, just search Google for it (XDA says I don't have enough posts to post links yet). It looks like there's a fix, but it requires root. I switch to the Google keyboard and it works fine with modified DPI.
FYI, density setting of 460 is the lowest (stock is 480) that will keep the widget width taking up the whole screen for wide widgets. Makes everything a little sharper than stock, which was needed.
The hardware keys below the screen also stop working when the screen resolution is changed.

As for swiftkey, you could probably use xposed appsettings to adjust its dpi/dp settings.

Try a different DPI. 480 is extreme and some apps simply won't work properly at such a high setting.
After doing this, how to revert to the original one???

How to Change per App DPI without root?

hello everyone,
As title say anyone here knows how to change DPI per App without Root? i use to do it using Xposed Module but because we don't have root YET in this device i was wondering if there is a way.
i know how to change the DPI in general but i rather know how to do this per app...
P.S. here are some differences from 640dpi (Default) to 560dpi (Override) and so far the only issue i have run into is the Default ZTE Keyboard had to change it to Google Keyboard but i'll install the Blackberry one i have on my G4.
I don't know about per app, but this works generally:
adb shell wm density 560
Slightly offtopic, when I chenged the DPI I had to use windows to adb shell into the phone, I wouldn't get the authorization prompt when using linux. Anybody noticed this?
Maybe ask in the xda review comments section. Hope this is helpful.

Snapchat text issue

So anytime I send a snap to someone or post on my story the text in the snap becomes very little to the left side. My dpi is standard for 1440 x 2560 and I don't know how to fix it. It's very annoying and hard to read. Someone please help. (Posted screenshot)

Yes but I've changed it back and set it to multiple dpi's. No luck. Even factory reset it. Nothing.
A factory reset should surely reset the dpi. Many apps have issues playing nice with an overridden dpi, specifically the functionalities that include resizing or cropping.
Try an "adb shell wm density reset && adb reboot" command for good measure

Settings Database Editor tweaks

I've been playing around with an app called "Settings Database Editor" and found some very cool tweaks that don't require root. It does require you to run "adb shell pm grant by4a.setedit22 android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS" on a computer though. Also sidenote, I'm not the creator of this app just stumbled across it on the play store and found some really cool things that it enables you to tweak on the S8.
In the tab "global" there are values for "transition_animation_scale", "animator_duration_scale", and "window_animation_scale" if you have development options enabled then you're probably familiar with these settings but with this you can tweak it to the exact scale you'd like instead of being limited to 7 different preset scales.
And in the tab "global" there is a value called "display_size_forced" by looking at the value set it seems to be what Settings -> Display -> Screen resolution is set to, maybe this will allow a wider range of resolutions instead of the 3 presets we get?
There's a bunch more tweaks, it's worth a look through

Yup there if you look there is an option called qs_tile_column, qs_tile_row, and qs_tile_column_landscape under secure. Just make sure not to set it to 1 otherwise SystemUI will go into a crash loop and renders your phone completely useless until you use adb to change the settings back. If you don't have usb debugging on you may be forced to do a factory reset

So I cant have just one row of tiles? Also, just a bit confused on how to actually use the app. I plus my phone into my PC and run some command in CMD? I just want like a 1*4 (x,x,x,x) How would I add tiles back if I wanted them?

You're mistaken, display_size_forced isn't the dpi.

Changing the number of QS columns is totally possible using the System UI Tuner app in the Play Store, I've successfully changed mine to 7 columns, but I've also tested it with as little as 3 columns.

Google took out support for hangouts as an SMS app the end of may. It is no longer possible to use hangouts with an actual phone number unless it's a Google voice number
You can use this method to change the default install location. Just throwing that out there, it's under Global in the app. You can also add your own settings, if I knew what the hell I was doing I'd add them, but have to imagine if I play around with Tasker or extract activities and intents from other apps that use secure settings, etc... This might give us at least some flexibility. I am beyond frustrated with lack of root on this phone, coming from LG v10, I was really relying on the Galaxy community to come through on this device. Still holding out hope.

I also just used this to turn off the Brightness Warning, under Global I went to "limit_brightness_state" and changed "80, 80" to "100,100"... warning gone.
The new Update from T-Mobile broke the changes I made here in quick settings. It's now just a blank box entirely. Damn
Nevermind went in and change to 5 and then back to 7 and all is well again

Noticed this too but not until after I got recent tmo update. I haven't had a chance to troubleshoot but it's either related to the update or the setting reverts on reboot. Seems like one of those settings it'd be better to change with a script on boot. Man I miss root. I had successfully changed all settings again after tmo update but reboot killed it. I'm gonna try grant permissions via adb again to see if the settings will stick at some point...ah well

I haven't updated on tmobile and it still happened. I believe it's a on reboot thing. What's weird is in the app it still shows my settings to 100,100. I'm going to try to set it again to see if its an error in the app showing wrong values. Because I notices when you change the tether requirement to 0, it always switches back to 1
Update: I just checked the app and now it's showing null for my limit brightness again. Put it back to 100, 100 and its working fine. Will try to see if it sticks on reboot
Double update : settings stayed after boot

It's weird man. One thing I noticed would looking into something else was that under apps inactive app in developer settings the database editor was some how set to inactive. I'm guessing it could be a battery thing maybe due to power saving settings. Maybe need to turn off all battery optimization for this. I'll gonna hopefully used Tasker to automate changes at boot and keep active.

try adding or moding this setting under (secure) without quotes "sms_default_application" and the setting value is
"com.google.android.apps.hangoutsdialer" if you use the hangouts dialer.. if not then "com.google.android.talk" for hangouts..

I'm not sure if this will work, but try setting it back to defaultand install systemui tuner and messing with the immersive mode setting. Also, enable the touch bar (the new Oreo setting that gives you the circle that acts like the soft keys.)
Why did you even disable that in the first place? If you want it fully back, you have to reset your phone.
