Overall it is a very positive on the reviews.. very similar to the existing and initial OnePlus 3 reviews save for the increase in costs.

Thanks for posting. It seems like the general consensus is that if you were looking at the 1+3, the 1+3t is worth the extra $40, but not worth upgrading if you already have a 3.

Great phone...all the reviews are very positive ..i was between mate 9 or OP3T..
but it was not so difficult to make a choice..
OP3T wins very easy to replase my old LG G3.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app

i noticed all the reviews are pretty general and stating specs... no mention of the EIS, battery, benchmark comparisons. side by side comparisons of images and video.
they dont really go into detail. of course the phone will be fast, switching between apps and gaming.
dont get me wrong, i like the phone

Even though I watched these reviews and the phone checks everything I need, I still am hesitant to buy it; the reviews are for people who just use Android, not tinker with Android. My biggest concern is with the dev community. I come from an OPO and I don't think I'll be able to stomach a phone with little community support. If only this phone were never released; then my choice would be obvious in getting an OP3. Only time will tell how this subforum grows or withers. I'm hopeful but not optimistic.

This is what I don't understand why people keep bring up the point about dev support. I mean it's not like every dev on earth just declared war on OP3T. Seriously how many custom ROMs do you need? The way I look at it, even just a few good one and pick one among them that suit you best is enough. Even for phone w/ locked bootloader are still some mod ROMs crop up here and there, and it's not like the OP3T will have a lock bootloader. Unless I get something wrong, just because some current OP3 dev say they don't plan to support OP3T, does that mean there won't be other? Or the OP3 one will never move to OP3T? I'm not a dev, but if I own OP3 right now I wouldn't plan on getting OP3T. But if the OP3 would break next week then I would be seriously thinking on the new OP3T rather than buying a used OP3 somewhere else. Aside from that, maybe there are some dev that was planing to do some work on the Note 7 would come over.

Interesting, considering that and what OP said about the update for OP3 and OP3T will be on the same cycle. Does this mean there will just be one ROM for both of them?

That's because the OP3T is on the newer version of OxygenOS that is currently available with the community builds and the F2FS filesystem system is utilized by default instead of EXT4.

The Snapdragon 821 is for the most part not much different than the Snapdragon 820 apart from the higher factory clock speed. Also that won't significantly impact the speed of opening applications. The OP3 also has similar improvements in app loading speeds when using F2FS on the newer community builds, and both devices will be on essentially the same builds going into the future.

There's a comparison videos on the youtube channel YourTechGuide on OnePlus 3T between OnePlus 3 and the iPhone 7 Plus and by the benchmarks results the new OnePlus 3T throttle alot...

Speaking of hardware, the only meh so far are the volume-/powerbuttons. They appear quite cheap and wobbly. Stock-SW is sth you have to get used to. Or simply give a custom-rom a try.

Mine arrived and the buttons are solid enough. Could be better (aluminium) but nothing to put me off and certainly better than the N7100/N7102 I am leaving behind, which have a silly amount of creaks and soft areas considering their price.
Most reviews have been on the mark now I've actually got the device. Areas of improvement for sure but initial impressions are it's a really fine effort considering the size and experience of the competition. Starting out with stock (official) ROM before going to Betas and AOSP/AOKP to see how each fare. I quite like the stock interface - a bit of a change from traditional dark Android and it doesn't lag like TouchWiz
Also, the text difficult to read as noted in the review is fixed - screen of notification pull-down in current official stock ROM (0514).

Thanks for the heads up! Oppo's rep has also contacted letting me know that it has been fixed some time ago (shame on me!). Anyway, I've updated my review.
I guess it's a good way for people interested to see how Oppo progresses the software with user feedback.

Thanks for that fantatstic review.
A very interesting point in the review is this sentence: "Want a Google Edition device? This comes pretty darn close!"
I follow all the cm/aokp/pac/pa threads but as far as ive seen, there are troubles with the camera, overall stability and performance. Why are there no stable or almost stable roms out if this device is every developers dream?

Yeah, it works, but its far away from stable and the camera still has its bugs. Im not complaining, dont get me wrong, i just want to know why the find 5 is always mentioned when people search for a dev friendly aosp device.
Also there are so few people around in this forum that i fear that the dev`s loose their interest in this device, before theres a stable release of an aosp rom.

Time. The device has only been out a few months, and honestly, both xplodwild and I have been pretty busy with non-CM stuff lately.
Our fault, not Oppo's. Oppo has been, without a doubt, a pleasure to work with. They even sent me a SECOND device (with the serial console hardware populated along with two serial cables) to help with the kernel rebase. Unfortunately after making massive progress on it two weekends ago, I haven't had time to touch CM at all on any device since then.

I wouldn`t dare to complain about the dev`s awesome work, i was just a little bit unsure about the possibility of seeing a stable aosp rom one day, and whether i should keep my find 5 or send it back. To hear that oppo is a pleasure to work with and that awesome dev`s like you will carry on gives me enough certainty to keep that fantastic piece of hardware, and to supply some money to donate
I... am sold. Oppo's proactive dev support is just too awesome. I can see development taking off with this device months down the line, and that's saying much considering that it's already got a solid base for its age.
Looking forward to being a dev labrat~

Oneplus Two Overrated.....

Yay?... Nay?
I must say yes..
TRASH antutu score. We get that same score RIGHT NOW on the oneplus one.
The Samsung button makes the phone super ugly.
The 810 overheats.
The phone is 10mm thick.
I'm going to have to say no thank you. Huawei, Zuk, Elephone, Umi, & others are creating great phones at prices that make upgrading from a oneplus one to the oneplus 2 useless. Don't fall for the hype guys.

I think its a decent phone, a nice improvement with the move to a more 'premium' build along with what appears to be a better camera, bigger battery, more ram/faster processor. I havent seen any mention of OP2's 810 overheating yet, I think some have mentioned the phone warming up a bit (like most phones) when running a benchmark or gaming, but it doesnt seem to impact performance. The biggest issues I have seen are with the Sony Z3+/Z4 which was overheating badly and had the camera crashing.
I dont worry about benchmarks much as its the real world usage that matters most. Overall I like the look of the design, I like that the finger print scanner is capacitive rather than a 'clicky', one less moving part to worry about.
But I definitely think you're right with the competition, a lot of chinese companies are stepping up with premium builds, top features like big batteries, quick charging, 5.1.1 out of the box, 64bit chips, sd card slots, etc, etc, all for a decent price. Just look at the Zenfone 2, very good value for money.

I don't like the oneplus 2 because of the hype. Essentially its just another Chinese phone like Zopo, Mlais, etc.. As you said, there are hella Chinese & Indian manufacturers who have way better builds and even better specs than the ONEPLUS 2. However, they go unnoticed because they don't have promotional funding from OPPO(Yes OPPO).
The Ulefone Be Touch 2 has a fingerprint scanner & a build that is much better than the ONEPLUS 2 IMHO.

Yea it looks pretty decent although I've seen people on XDA saying the battery life was pretty poor. Another thing with some of these brands is the software support, I'd be concerned how much you would get at the rate these companies churn devices out. At least with the OPO and OP2 (if you like or dislike oxygen) they are committed to providing updates (just dont mention the timing!). But you're totally right Oneplus has built a foundation around the online marketing/hype, which none of the other companies have.
This looks like it could be decent as well if its priced right

Yea they're really pumping them out this year. For a while they all seemed to be churning out cheap and nasty 4.4 devices but they've really upped their game in terms of the hardware and software. Theres definitely more choice than ever which is only a good thing.
Everyone likes to conform I see....

Thank you. Well while it is spec-ulation atm, it will be nice to see what the final design will offer.
The G5's dimensions will allegedly be 149.4 x 73.9 x 8.2 mm
If I can get a significantly extended battery for it, I'll consider it. If no big battery = no buy.

Not sure that will be possible. The battery has a different insertion method... or so it was speculated.
Rear camera will be a dual Camera, one cam will have 16mp and the other one 8mp and the gpu adreno 530, not 520. Wouldn't expect a bump that big from 3k to 4k mah on battery :/
I have a G3, if this phone turns out to be REALLYYYYY revolutionary, I might think on upgrading by the end of the year.
No
Because the bootloader on the G4 & V10 still hasn't been unlocked... Not sure if the hack Gods are interested in LGs phones anymore.

Some versions of the Intl V10 and the T-mo are BL unlocked. Same goes for the G4:good:
I'm upgrade from S6 Edge & LG G2... . Lg makes usefull smart phones. I like this one too ...
I'm currently running the G3. I really liked the v10, but the things I want improved on the v10 are USB-C, smaller profile, and the SD 820. I also would like to keep the 4GB of RAM, but let's see how that goes.
I hope the G5 keeps the same style and form as the previous G4,G3, and (to a major extent) G2. The buttons on the back and the high screen to body ratio are my two favorite things on the G3. I also really like the audio cord on the bottom.
Hey guys, just coming here to lay my claim to this sub forum! I'm 99% sure I'm picking up a G5, porting it for an official NetHunter release, and fixing up a fun kernel. I might even get involved with TWRP.
It's starting to look like it could be a real open development phone for me. (I'll be getting it in Canada though when it is available, so I'm certain I'll be in the bootloader safezone)
I'm really glad they went with a 5.6" screen. It'd be nice to see some reliable information on the battery and how easy it will be to replace. Leaving the world of 1 second battery swap to full is a scary thing for me.
Won't upgrade from V10
I am really considering buying the V10 right now, but after seeing this I must consider to wait for the G5.... Decisions, decisions
I am currently using xperia Z5 Premium.

Hope is the word:fingers-crossed:
Glad to see Devs populating this device:good:
I like how the spec in OP is for a 6 inch lens.
I'll probably be getting a G5 in Spring/Summer. Currently the G3 is working great and is slowly coming up for a replacement.
I may upgrade my old G2 now

[Q] Where do we go next from the OPO?

I can't seem to desire any other phone. I love the display, I love the size. Speed is good. Battery is very good (running stock CM). Not to mention the price.
Also - I love the hardware buttons (I think software buttons - like in the nexus 6p for example - are a waste of screen real estate).
Anyone upgraded and was happy doing so?
I'm in the same boat as you, my phone is almost 2 years old now but i feel no need to upgrade. Unless you live in a area with faster than 150mbs lte, want a finger print scanner, or a crystal clear screen, i would just keep it until the op4.
Had the One for just over a year now and don't feel the need for an upgrade. When I do end up upgrading this phone, it will not be another OnePlus device. The 2 and X have shown little improvements as successors to the One. There will be better options when the time comes
The OPO really opened me up to the modding capabilities of android. As so many people had grabbed the phone and experimented, there was lots of support. CyanogenMod was a key factor in my decision to get it, and I agree with @kenboyles72 : The 2 and X haven't improved enough for me to want to upgrade.
Also, there's nothing wrong with the OPO, even two years old. It still outperforms most of my mates devices
will be a better unit. BUT not that too soon.
opo will be still outstanding unit at least few more years.
Used to handle HTC models prior to opo
really appreciated opo unit.
appropriate in many ways.
I'm going to wait for the OnePlus 3 to see what it has in store, and if the price is high or it doesn't impress me with it's design and such, I'm going with the Xiaomi Mi5. I mean 4GB of RAM, Snapdragon 820, Fingerprint Scanner, Marshmallow, Good Camera, Awesome design and 64GB of storage for ~700AUD, I'm sold.

Is it bootloader unlocked? Or do you plan on staying on stock for several months hoping for some AOSP support only to switch again? Most of the time it's better to wait and see how popular a device is before buying as the more popular a device is the more likely it is to get a good development scene

Boot loader is locked and honestly I don't care. I don't care what Android skin I use, everyone makes a big fuss about oh I can use this and ew Touchwiz and what not and honestly I don't care. I use Google Messenger for texting, Snapchat, Reddit and Facebook Messenger. I'd be lucky to make an hour of phone calls a week. I install Google Now Launcher on the device and an icon pack, the main interaction I have with MIUI is the status bar and recents apps menu. Like looking at this, you wouldn't even know it was MIUI underneath.

OP3 or whatever ~5" Nexus device(s) come out this year.
Went to a Nexus 5x already, but keep leaning back to the OPO that's still lying around.
After The opo will be useless at 2018 i will looking into new battery techs
i was thinking to Nexus 6p, but I've see now the 820's snapdragon devices.... So I think I will wait for sure the next Nexus, if it will be nice i will buy that... And obviously, have a look to opo4
I'm waiting on the note 6... after it gets a custom recovery.
One plus 3 ( if specifications equal or above opo ).
Maybe mi5 when price drops or Next Nexus, opo is still uncomparable as price/quality ratio
Using this thing until it is too slow to use day to day...did this with my HTC g2 and m7. When they start to lag behind too much and battery dies too often, it was upgrade time. I always make sure lots of memory is free for performance.
Sent from the one and only Oneplus One
thus is cool but i am worried if there is hope of android o for us with this one or any good custom roms or any new holy **** kernels as i donot see dev with opo2 then what with opo3 opo 4 will dim
S7 Edge on Tmobile's buy one get one free deal.
I was just browsing the subforum and happened to come across this. I personally own the X which is essentially a more compact One with an AMOLED screen and expandable storage.
I would say keep the One. It's a great phone and if you compare performance of the X to the one, I'd say that there isn't a reason for you to upgrade to anything at all. If you must, go for the X. It's really a side grade if anything as both devices level one another out on terms of HW, but in all honesty, keep what you have. You guys have the best ROMs, the best revision of the 801, and the best kernels after all. Enjoy what you have.
I've had inconsistent performance with the GPS on my OPO. I'm really tempted to get a 5X now that it's $200 (plus that first month of service, right?). Didn't know how important the GPS would be to me.

beginners guide to downgrading to MM?

Hi is there a beginner friendly guide to downgrading s7 edge back to MM?
The guides are so vague that if you understand them you dont really need the guide to begin with. Any A to Z guide available?... i couldn`t find one with the search.
Why would you do that? android 7 is better on every aspect..

A sweeping statement, clearly subjective.

There are more things i can multi task with in MM (e.g. instagram)... and youtube is stuck at the midpoint when multitasking in landscape on nougat.
Battery life feels worse and this is without twilight app running (I switched to inbuilt blue light filter on nougat) and I dont want to lower the ****ing resolution!
Certain UI changes i dont like (e.g. drop down menu)... the rest make no difference to me.
Camera app lost some quick-change settings on its camera screen.. so now i have to dig into camera settings to change them.
Generally the update is bland in terms of colours... feels washed out generally speaking.
All in all i got nothing out of nougat, just i remembered why i should never put the welfare of my electronics in profit driven entities.
I`m sure you get loonies like me passing by frequently but my experiences made me someone who believes updates` main purpose is to slow down the older phones so we buy the newer ones. I could elaborate on this but lets just avoid it for everyone`s sake

Thats simply not true...ive been using an S6 edge till i got this s7 edge and i can tell you that Nougat made the s6 way faster then it ever was...Even costum roms werent worth when stock nougat launched...was using lineage os for the s6 before switching to nougat and man what a difference..
you just need to accept updates dude, also when you say that colours are washed out on nougat dude common...
Battery is good for me...

Nop, a slightly cynical stance is good when it comes to fast changing consumer electronics.
New certainly is not always better.
As to Nougat, of what I read so far it is a woeful update as a new Android version.
They could have just packed the few useful new things in an update for MM.
I got the update ready to install but am in no hurry whatsoever. MM runs superbly.
The lure of the new is just too much for most. I've read of folks getting seriously anxious because they had to wait ?.
Sad
I feel that my battery life isnt as good. Now its pointless telling me your having good battery life I FEEL as if i`m experiencing worse battery life.
Anyways i found a way to downgrade. Everything was working fine before. If you can link me to a thread with some battery optimisations for nougat i`ll reconsider... but lower the ****ing resolution is not one of them... I enjoy full resolution with good battery life before and expect it to be at full resolution now. Performance profile is optimised
All I can say is lol.
