Interesting no one mentioned the 3 free months of YouTube Red you get in the Pixel's paperwork.
Best thing about Red is you can listen to music while the screen is off, there used to be a few apps that did that in the Play store, but google kicked them out.
EDIT: It's actually Play Music APP. Just open it from your Pixel and it will offer you the 3 free month trial. §

NOTE2: I've since used mozilla/firefox with adblock plus addon to listen to youtube videos, since it allows you to turn off the screen and it continues playing.

I'm wondering if the Google Home's 6-month Red will stack on the Pixel's 3-months. I'm waiting to activation the free one from Pixel until Monday when my Google Home gets here.

What do you have to do to get the 3 months free?

It won't. The fine print on the offers is you can't be a current subscriber or one in the last 12 months to redeem one of these offers.

No YouTube Red here in the UK! If they add it here I'd keep my subscription, I'm probably just going to stick with Spotify though as their music app is definitely better to use and much better for discovering new music.
AD free YouTube and YouTube playback minimised would be a game changer for me though.

You can do the same thing on the firefox mobile browser, but it will take video data instead of audio like youtube red does.

Okay, I got my phone on the 2nd and used google play yesterday but when i go into the app it says that my free trial has expired. I've never subbed for google play before.

Yeah, i just did. I spoke with both a Google rep and a Youtube rep on the issue. The Youtube guy said that he was only able to find a cardless free trial for 14 days that i got for downloading Google play music back in March which didn't require any payment methods. The Google rep said that he will escalate my case and get back to me within 24-48 hours. Guess we will see what happens. Ill report back what happens. Anyone else have this issue?

I have subscribed to Play music and canceled when I saw we get 3 free months. However, I don't see the offer when I go to the app. Kind of sucks.

Mine is about not being able to purchase a Pixel XL, site giving me errors and saying I can only buy 1. Or when I hit complete/confirm purchase, it comes back with an error or error 500. Then I checked my bank and it showed transactions pending of $0 but no confirmations the purchase went through. This has been ongoing for about a month now, so if anything I want to see it they can still qualify me for the free DayDream VR.

I had a hard time with them at first the other day.
Try going on their facebook or twitter with your phone and go to the link that way. (also did you make sure to select Sony Xperia play on the list?)
Yeah I finally found that out. I went through Twitter, which I don't even know how to use (LOL - I'm 54 and never tweeted before). I bought 3 games for 99 cents - Fast 5 HD, Shadow Guardian HD and Eternal Legacy. I'll probably buy a few more if I can sweet-talk my bride into it. Call it an early Christmas present!

I tried 101 times and finally, even though the last payment screen froze and I gave up, I later received an email confirmation.
The Play store page says that the device will ship on the 15th, so if that's realistic we should be receiving it on Monday.

Hello everyone. I want to buy this new android smartphone (Nexus 4), but Google Play isn't available in my country. How can i buy it at the astonishing price of 350 EUR (16 gb version) ? Had my browser set to auto refresh every 5 seconds since 11pm last night, and ordering went live for me at 8:33am PST. I completed my order by 8:34, thankfully no hiccups at all in the process. Had to have been one of the very first orders, and thankfully managed to beat the rush of errors!

My normal account had errors repeatedly so I basically made a new account. With the new account, it took like 2 minutes without any error....
Edit: Like 1 minutes after I finished the purchase, Nexus 4 16GB sold out.

Mines on pre order. Just wanted to let you guys know about Amazon price being reduced from £529.99 (Price on UK Microsoft Store) to £469.99 for the 950XL and £449.99 (Price on UK Microsoft Store) to £419.99 for Lumia 950.
Shipping on UK Microsoft Store is set for 03/12 but Amazon are set to ship for 12/12. Amazon prices are the same as CarphoneWarehouse who have also reduced their prices compared to UK Microsoft Store.

I believe it doesn't matter where you get the device from as long as you get it in the initial period you get the free dock, going to ask in cpw again to confirm though

You will actually qualify for the dock. Short version - I spoke to MS support and they assured me this will be valid for any order before the end date and you can ignore the "start date" of the promotion.
Long version: The support representative I spoke to basically said that the Nov 20 date was only the initial date that they thought the first units might ship through partners. The "order date" will infact be counted as the shipping date since it's only a pre-order at this point and the orders haven't actually been completed.
If anyone is interested in buying direct from Microsoft they will price match the official retailers. Refund will be issued once deceive delivered. You also get 30 days return policy and support for free.
also mobilephonesdirect have it in stock for next day delivery.
Ordered mine off amazon this morning, due for delivery tomorrow. Cant wait!

When I click on the menu button at the top left and then click sign in at the bottom of the menu, it comes up and says choose account. Problem is, it doesnt list any accounts I can choose. How do I get around this?
Edit never mind, did a wipe and everything is now 100% This is soo much better than android!

Now I have had a day or so to play around with it, it is wicked cool! would be hard pushed to go back to android. Cant wait for full Cortana integration on my Windows 10 desktop. Will be very cool to be able to send text messages from my PC.

I use a Lumia 930 running WX 10586.29 Preview Build - lovely device, S/W a bit flakey. My "dirt" phone is a Blu Win HD LTE - £59 from Amazon UK and running W8.1 UP2 - know what - it's amazing for the money! Really good.
My Android is an LG G2 32 Gb (the EU version with more memory than the UK version) and it has been a really great phone for over 2 years now. It looks and performs like new. Don't use it much nowadays.... but still pleases me when I do.

For both phones, MS have pushed out a fairly significant OTA FIRMWARE update - don't get those often...

Just got mine yesterday, coming from a G Note 3 the improvements are immense and some Apps are actually better than their Android equivalent (6tag, Outlook mail, Baconit to name a few). I'm converted back to MS, my last MS phone was the legendary HTC HD2, hopefully we can mod the 950 XL as much as we could the HD2.
Out of over 100 Apps the only real App I'm missing is my Sonos App , all my other smart home app's are just as good, Plex, Tado, Roku, Xbox. Can anyone advise a good Sonos App? currently using 'Smart Player'.
The camera is amazing for a smartphone, so is the screen quality and I really like the 'Hello' unlock just for the speed and handiness of it.
The only 'problem' I have with the device is as a IT Administrator who deals primarily with MS Networks, I'm surprised there's not many Apps compared to Android. I miss the likes of fing, JuiceSSH, Network Scanner, OpenConnect (though standard VPN does work), Spoofer, ADManager, and even some MS ones.... Thankfully the situation looks to be getting better as i've heard some Apps are in development or will be ported over. If that's too much then all we ask for is a PowerShell App MS!
I like 950xl. Anyone esle want to sell it?
Phonos is a fairly good Sonos app. Not as good as the official android one but probably the best you'll find at the moment.

Google canceled my order for no reason !

I preordered 32gb Black pixel XL the minute it was announced on the 4th.
Everything went through fine and I got a confirmation email of the order.
Then I notice that there are no funds on hold in my account .
I think nothing of it and figure they will hold funds when it ships .
Fast forward to Monday the 17th .
I call customer service to inquire when I should receive my phone and why there isn't a hold on my bank account for the funds.
They tell me that I should receive the phone between the 26-28 of October .
And that I will be charged when it ships.
That my order is processing and every is fine .
Last night I get an email from Google saying that my order has been cancelled.
It states to reason as to why ....
So I call customer service , they tell me its a billing issue and transfer me to google wallet .
We verify that my billing and mailing addresses match and they do .
Next we get on a 3 way call with my bank to see if their were any declines from their end .
Once again nothing , the bank has no record of google ever making any attempt to charge it hold funds.
The customer service representative from wallet says " well everything looks fine , so you should go ahead and place an order again "
I said to them it's sold out , how do you want me to do that .
They had no answer for that .
Then she transfered me to the ordering department .
I went back and forth with them about what took place , they escalated it to a tier 2 person , in which they told me to join the waiting list .
This is complete bull**** , they canceled my order for no reason and now I have to get on a waiting list for a phone that i ordered and got confirmation was shipping next week .
What can I do at this point ?

That sucks. One thing to try is pleading on twitter. Many companies hate when you make something public on social media so you may get a better response.
Same thing happened to my order. Came in to work today to the cancelled order email. Contacted them via phone and chat and was told something happened in the system and a bunch of orders got cancelled and that there was nothing they could do about it. Absolutely ridiculous! Having ordered over two weeks ago only to get on a wait list now and probably not get the free VR headset!? Really wish this was a regular retail store so I could take my business elsewhere.

So far it doesn't seem like it. All I have been told is that I need to get on the wait list. That is unacceptable as it looks like it will push the order out 1-2months and we would be screwed out of the VR headset. I just called back myself to try talking to someone else or a manager if needed. They said they had to check on something and they would call me back in 5 minutes (we shall see if they do).
The only acceptable resolution for me is for them to reinstate the order and get it shipped out soon as well as still providing the codes for the headsets . After committing to spend over $1600 with Google for two phones I think that is fair on my part.
If you are getting the 32GB, it often goes back on sale multiple times a day. I say 1/3 times I checked the 32GB is available, the 128GB is the hard one. Just keep checking and you will be able to order another one. I used their financing, that might help too if you can, don't have to deal with another bank. No reason not to at 24 mo, 0% interest. Saves yourself a tiny bit through the time value of money.

I used the Google financing and the order was still cancelled! I have 3 different email addresses set on the wait list since I am trying to get 2 phones. I am constantly checking to see if I can grab one. If I can get an order in for two by tomorrow I will be satisfied. Not happy, but satisfied.

You will get a hard inquiry in your credit report, that was the reason I didn't finance.

Yes you will, that is the only down side, so make sure you have no problem with your credit being affected by that.

I just called back again and pressed the issue. They finally escalated the issue but this just means they emailed me to tell me I would hear back in 1-2 business days. I made it clear that this defeats the purpose as by then the preorder is over and I loose the headsets.
Not holding my breath here though.

That's where they left off with me last night.
Escalated and awaiting an email ... Meanwhile the phone launches at best buy and Verizon tomorrow.
Really weighing out my options at the moment to make sure I don't left in the dark.

yeah, really blows. I don't want any other phone but really need a new one. I really don't want to buy from VZW or anyone else with their fingers in things. Worst case I wait until they are available again but I am still going to be very bitter about being screwed out of 2 VR headsets.
google pre order system works backwards.
Same thing happened to me today at 3pm. I had google finance and pre ordered the phone on October 4th and all of the sudden it got cancelled.
There seems to be a lot on canceled orders on here alone. I wonder if it scales up with everyone that pre-ordered? If it does, could it be google canceled random people due to low supply?

just a heads up. I called Google the other day to ask about the pre order promotion. I said specifically that I wanted to take advantage of it but was afraid that I would miss it because the window was closing.
The rep from Google told me not to worry that "no matter when you order, if you get this phone, you get a headset".
Verizon seems to be doing the same thing. I called them and they gave me a promo code over the phone they said you just need to activate a phone to use the promo. Doesn't seem to matter when you buy.
I think it was setup this way just to build hype.

It definitely isn't everyone. I have a buddy who ordered one the same day and he also financed with Google. His order has not been cancelled as of now. Granted he did get the regular Pixel so maybe it is related to the XL only?
They claimed to me on the phone that two nights ago at 3am something happened and the orders had issues/got cancelled and that it happened to many orders.

Wow, the news here is that the are going to upgrade to L1 security with a software update. From what I've read before that's not possible because its a hardware issue.
And the OP5 has been in the market for half a year already and still has the same issue, and hasn't been updated.
Maybe if this makes some headlines they'll go for a fix, give it a try admins!!
We were told both yesterday and today by a representative from the company that "We will be adding L1 support to the OP5T and OP5," which would enable the devices to play HD content from sources such as Netflix. So far there's no word yet for either a schedule or when it comes to other devices such as the OnePlus 3 or 3T. At this point, the company's older phones probably aren't included in these plans. But if we receive confirmation of that, we'll update this article.

My understanding is it only effects Amazon and Netflix streaming. OP has a return process in place where you can send your phone back and have the issue corrected. They promise a 3 day turn-around and I can firmly say, at this point, it appears to hold true. I sent my phone in late last week and it arrived at their partner repair facility (in Texas) today. Approximately, 3 hours later I received a email stating the phone had been repaired and is being packaged for shipping. That is a decent turn-around time. We will see how long shipping takes but being that they are willing to flip the bill on shipping to and from their repair facility, I'm even o.k. with slow shipping. I have to say I am impressed so far with their level of support.
We will see if there is a noticeable difference as I use both Netflix and Amazon Video
