The OnePlus 5T is unable to stream Netflix, Amazon Prime Video in HD - OnePlus 5T Guides, News, & Discussion

Really.....Did they think no one would notice?
https://www.theverge.com/2017/12/10/16758728/oneplus-5t-netflix-amazon-prime-video-hd-streaming

Wow, the news here is that the are going to upgrade to L1 security with a software update. From what I've read before that's not possible because its a hardware issue.
And the OP5 has been in the market for half a year already and still has the same issue, and hasn't been updated.
Maybe if this makes some headlines they'll go for a fix, give it a try admins!!

We were told both yesterday and today by a representative from the company that "We will be adding L1 support to the OP5T and OP5," which would enable the devices to play HD content from sources such as Netflix. So far there's no word yet for either a schedule or when it comes to other devices such as the OnePlus 3 or 3T. At this point, the company's older phones probably aren't included in these plans. But if we receive confirmation of that, we'll update this article.

My understanding is it only effects Amazon and Netflix streaming. OP has a return process in place where you can send your phone back and have the issue corrected. They promise a 3 day turn-around and I can firmly say, at this point, it appears to hold true. I sent my phone in late last week and it arrived at their partner repair facility (in Texas) today. Approximately, 3 hours later I received a email stating the phone had been repaired and is being packaged for shipping. That is a decent turn-around time. We will see how long shipping takes but being that they are willing to flip the bill on shipping to and from their repair facility, I'm even o.k. with slow shipping. I have to say I am impressed so far with their level of support.
We will see if there is a noticeable difference as I use both Netflix and Amazon Video
Thanks

Expansys UK - You have been warned!

If you are considerin an order with Expansys - think again!
I tried to post this in the Expansys forums but it was deleted within minutes and it seems they have now blocked my right to post!
Ordered the Desire HD with free accessoy pack (204815) when stock was showing as available and confirmed that the item was in stock with customer services prior to placing the order.
Order summary showed everything in stock but when the order moved to 'in progress' the Desire HD then showed 'Estimated 1 day'. This then moved to 3 days and is currently showing 6 days!
Called customer support and was told that everything is in stock but the Desire HD - this was obviously the main part of the order. When questioning why the site said 'in stock' when ordering I was offered no explanation and was told that the Desire HD is in high demand.
Poor Expansys, very poor. If you don't have the stock, do NOT say that you do!
This mirrors my experience 18 months ago with the my HTC Magic order I finally cancelled my order having been told good luck but no-one has any in stock and got one from phones4u delivered the following day. I have stayed away from Expansys since but if you look they always claim to be getting items in much earlier than anyone else
I really do hate it when any online company shows something I want as "IN STOCK" when in actual fact they have nothing, www play com also does this.

Worse still is being lied to when calling to check stock level on the site. On two occasions I spoke to Expansys (two separate orders) and on two occasions I was told they were in stock. Guess what, on two occasions the order reverted to 'awaiting stock' following payment!
Not impressed with Expansys at all. The part that annoyed me even further is that my query and warning to others in the Expansys forum was removed within minutes and I was barred from posting again!
Not good business!
Expansys are scammers, pure and simple. I've had a couple of similar experiences and now wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
I strongly advise everyone to keep well away.

They're showing 99 in stock at the moment so you should be getting yours soon. Hopefully. Fingers crossed.
I always stick to ebay when buying new phones and the sellers with excellent feedback usually dont let you down.
I was going to buy a couple of charging docks from Expansys (my wife has a DHD too) and I was pleased to see a voucher for 50% off. At the basket it would only discount one dock and not two so I had a grumble to myself and decided to buy neither. Nice looking little dock though, but I am put off buying there by the stories here.
The exact same thing happened to me when I ordered my htc desire a few months back, they said they had it in stock on the website, then then out of stock, then estimated 2 days, then 5 days then 10 days .
It was so bad I almost harmed myself!
Anyways why are you ordering from expansys, they have the highest price at the moment for the Desire HD, there are other places selling it cheaper.

I STRONGLY suspect they are not in stock at all and this is just a ploy to secure 'pre-orders'. Let's face it, their price is that far inflated over the competition what else would make us buy from them, the fact they have it 'in stock' even though they don't!
There is no way they would suddenly have 100 units in stock when I was told today they are having trouble maintaining stock level and that they expect a delivery on Tuesday, therefore mine SHOULD be shipped out Tuesday or Wednesday.
My order still shows 'Estimated 6 days' even though stock shows as 99+ A complete joke!
Good luck to all who place an order with Expansys!

They MIGHT be ok for accessories but then having had first hand experience of their sly ways I can not recommend them. Buy at your own risk :-/

Simply because they had them in stock, or so I was told!
Personally I no longer believe a word these cowboys say and I will definitely be recommending that people to not buy from Expansys after my experience.
Not surprising to hear, unfortunately. I ordered my Hero through them last year, and the days kept creeping up, with stock levels showing as available. A common trend, it seems.

I really can't see why they are allowed to say they have something in stock when they clearly do not. Moreover, to be told they are in stock when ringing to verify the stock level on the website is just plain dishonest!
Removing my post in the forums and blocking my access is just the icing on the cake!
Another one with a bad experience of eXpansys.
It took them over 2 weeks to deliver my daughter's HTC Snap even though it was supposedly in stock. Ignored e-mails too. Terrible customer support.
Complete and utter shysters, plus that annoying t**t, Peter Jones has his sticky fingers in the company.
Please, for your own good, avoid eXpansys like the plague!
I would also recommend avoiding Expansys.
In my experiences, their stock numbers are not reliable (i.e. fabricated). Their deceptive business practices lure you into ordering with them then keep you hanging on waiting for your product.
On one particular order when I queried when delivery was to occur I was told to "relax" and that it was "on it's way." If their pricing was cheaper/competitive then you could reasonably put up with this.
Other than a poor customer experience, inflated prices and deceptive/misleading business practices they are fine (i.e. you'll eventually get what you've purchased in good condition).
Would recommend Handtec first, then Clove as better alternatives.

I agree that this quite nicely sums things up with this company.
Expansys also shipping Vodafone branded DHD as "sim-free, unbranded"!!!
1) Expansys do get 100 handsets but it seems they only update the 'in stock' numbers once a day when they 'process' orders. If you are customer 1-99 then great, no problem but if come online in the evening and are customer 100+, and they haven't updated the numbers, then you essentially become a pre-order - even though it says in stock. Dodgy.
2) BUT, way more dodgy... I just got my DHD yesterday: sim free, unlocked, unbranded and clean ...or so I thought.... But what do I see as soon as I boot? Vodafone branding. Called them; "oh, but it is just the boot logo, otherwise it is a normal DHD" Not good enough, I buy unbranded cos I want unbranded!
And Vodafone 360 replaces Amazon MP3 in the HTC music player too - so more than just a boot screen. What else is affected? Where do the upgrade ROMs come from? HTC or so I have to wait for a Vodafone ROM??
Worst of all, when I call HTC to migrate my Navigation subscriptions they tell me I should return the DHD as I shouldn't have a UK Vodafone branded handset in Sweden, and that Expansys shouldn't be selling it to me.
3) To give Expansys some credit here (a little), they send TNT in a few hours to collect the Vodafone handset and supposedly have a replacement, real sim-free, unbranded handset to send me tomorrow. Just hope it exists and shows up.

Expansys is known for a dodgy rep , if you are buying sim free from the uk stick with clove or handtec dont even consider expansys.
i boughts something a while ago from them i received an empty box :\, when i asked questions i got no answer i did a charge back thingy with my bank and got the money back, was for a replacement phone charger luckily it didnt cost too much

Where to get it "from stock"

I ordered mine from efox-shop.com
Shipment by DHL Express was fast, but it takes around 5 working days (after the order/payment) until it is picked up by DHL and shipped from their Hong Kong warehouse.
So expect 5 - 10 working days before it reaches you. In Germany, DHL also does tax and VAT and collects the amount cash at delivery... Don´t know how that works in other Countries.
AOSP apk are easy to get in the Google Play Store (which is already installed and easy working).
Hope I could help.
best regards
Dietmar
According to Elephone Facebook site, US version will probably not be released until July. Originally, back in November, I was told January, then before April 20th and now it's July?
Have you got your phone already then? I've ordered mine via Elephonestore and am deciding whether I should cancel the order or not as they aren't clear when mine will be shipped.

No, I have not ordered yet. Been waiting for the US version, which they keep delaying and can not give me a definite date when it will be released. Makes you wonder about the quality of their work, when this is the way they do business.

Dunno let me know how it goes though. At most you'd probably get stung £20-£30 which isn't bad as it still puts the phone under £200 which seems about right. I'm deciding now whether I want to cancel with elephonestore and reorder this via another shop or go with a Xiaomi Mi4s or Redmi Note 3 Pro. Both around the same price but then I'd be losing NFC and Band 20 (not a big deal for me as I might switch from GiffGaff to EE if I do). Did order a £5 glass screen protector for the P9000 that hasn't arrived yet so might just write off that and just go with a different phone. Annoying thing is Xiaomi probably locks boot loader or isn't close to vanilla android. Lots of good phones out there for around the £200 mark!
I think a lot of people still awaiting shipment these days. Next weeks community will start with lots of discussions. Lets keep connected with first experiences of tax & device itself. @DaBountyHunter: I also thought about switching to Xiaomi or Redmi (Note) device, but will give the P9000 a chance first (i also like the NFC, QI-Charge, USB-C features and also i hope for a working gyro in the P9000). I have tested the Elephone Trunk for couple of days (handed over to a friend) and was pretty ok with the quality (also with 3 OTA updates within first weeks for the Trunk it seems that Elephone is working on ROM quality for their new devices).
Br Arangato
Personally I definitely wanted Android v6 Marshmallow, and neither of those two alternatives have I believe, but the P9000 has.
Yeah that's definitely one of the things that drew me towards the P9000. It's got everything there the only negative is the P10 is a bit underpowered but then all I do is surf the web... whatsapp and play Clash of Clans and it'll be fine for that. Just wish it was easier to get hold of !
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 2s, it's a well made phone and before the most recent ota which redeemed my Neuxs 5x it was my daily driver but it's frustratingly poor Android experience. You can replace the launcher so it looks like something other than the bastard child of IOS but miui 7 is very very aggressive in killing background apps, which makes listening to music difficult so I'm hoping the P9000 with stock is a better experience. I'll let you know.

So in answer to the question “Where to get it from stock" e-Fox for sure.
It looks good came well packed, I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet only put it on charge so far.

Was it via DHL? Thanks for reporting back. Wish I didn't waste time with Elephonestore and saw these people first. Please update if you do get Tax because sometimes they are crooks and send you a letter a week or two after you've received the goods. You can normally dispute the admin charge on that but you still have to pay the customs and vat unfortunately.
The shipping agent (from HK) was Netherlands (PostNL International Mail) then it was passed on to Royal-Mail to deliver, I didn’t have to sign anything, (but I was still in bed when the postman came) the package had a declared value of $75 US on it.
Cheers mate looks all good then! Hope you enjoy the phone !! Happy days !! also does yours come with the silicone case in the box as others have?
Also which shipping method did you choose as there's three there...
Registered airmail... german express... and dhl
I order my P9000 also at eFox. But since 02.04 the status is "Shipment ready to be shipped". Nothing happens

Burned by the n7 and now again by the s8! Good-bye samsung!

So I preordered the S8 on 4.12.17 on Samsung's website. At checkout, I was given the option of the free VR gear gift, or the imersive bundle for $100 more. I chose the imersive VR bundle and paid full weight on both.
Yesterday, I receive my phone and only my phone. I figured ok, they will send the imersive pack separately on cheaper shipping. Today, over 24 hours after I receive my phone, I get my tracking email. The email states that both items were shipped in one package, and that it was delivered on 4.19. So I call Samsung, wait on hold for 2 hours when the girl on the phone tells me it looks like there was a shipping mistake and that there are no more imersive bundles left. She said she would send an email up the chain, and could give me no more information!
At this point all I know is that I didn't get what I paid for, and probably won't, and have no clue when this will be resolved. I am so fed up right now with Samsung's screwups.

I posted this in the "Where to pre-order?" thread on April 2. Samsung.com is, was, and likely to continue to be horrible.
Anyone here get tangled up in the Note7 recall? A lesson to be learned is that if there's a problem with the phone in general or yours in particular where you buy it makes a difference.
The mass market B&M retailers including Best Buy were incredibly difficult for people to deal with. Target and Walmart being exceptionally bad. Online, Amazon was fantastic and B&H gets honorable mention. Ironically Samsung.com get's a resounding "F." People who pre-ordered from them were the last to get their phones and they were clueless and helpless during the recall. Samsung.com isn't run by Samsung. It's run by Digital River on their behalf. I've had problems even ordering accessories from them. I'd stay far away. People that bought grey market phones from eBay in many cases were either left with no refund or spent inordinate amounts of time trying to get their Note7's refunded. So - Caveat Emptor,

Has anyone actually gotten the 360 camera for $50?

Wow, Essential's support and customer service are not ready for primetime. I reserved a couple of Essential phones along with two cameras for $50. I received the black phone I ordered but no camera. I figured it wasn't available and yet and would probably ship separately. I followed up with Essential this week and after a bunch of back and forth they're refusing to honor the $50 camera deal even though I reserved one. I'm really surprised and while annoyed about the camera I'm more alarmed about what sort of company would operate this way and I can imagine how their future conduct and support will be going forward. I asked them to help me return the phone in light of this and I haven't heard back. What the heck?
The phone seems cool but the company not so much. I would discourage everyone from buying any Essential products at this point as they clearly break their word and can't be trusted.
Yes I got mine yesterday and used it to video my house for insurance purposes (pray IRMA keeps going west please).
What would you like to know about it?
got mine yesterday also
Got mine yesterday.
OP, did you get a pre-order notification for the camera?
I got a separate pre-order notification for the camera.
Got my yesterday morning. Works great. Just checked my bank statement, too, and it was $50 as their emails and confirmation confirmed.
When you reserved your phone, did you opt for the cameras at that time, too? If so, your email reservation (mine was dated June 12th) should list the 360 Camera as an "Added Extras" option... If it does NOT, you didn't participate in the promotion, which has since ended, and while it's disappointing that you missed out on it, their customer service team is doing their job. If, however, your email confirmation from when you reserved the phone states you have a phone AND a 360 Camera as an added extra, then yes, they should be honouring that, and you should point out clearly that you have that confirmation in writing.
I don't know what your email says, and I mean no disrespect. I'm simply pointing out that this very well could be a mistake on their end which they really should correct, but it also could be human error on your part, as well, which is unfortunate, but not their fault.
Yep. Got it and love it. Turns out Windows 10 Photo and Video player make watching the 360 video super easy, as does Virtual Desktop for VR use.
Got mine.

Thanks for the comments all, and I'm glad Essential honored the $50 price for at least some of you. For those curious, I did indeed reserve 2 cameras at the time I placed my 2 pre-orders for the phones (for $50 how could you go wrong?) so I hold Essential responsible and I would caution others from doing business with Essential. They still have not told me how to return the device to them so I will have to file a chargeback with my bank and proceed from there. I also find it disappointing they have no plans to make the software images available for download like Google does. Hopefully the phones work well for those of you who are going to keep them over time because if you have any issues I suspect you're on your own.
Got mine yesterday.
Its not worth 200 IMHO

EE UK

Ordered mine just now from EE, bye bye Huawei.
Went with the 128GB as I barely use 50GB on my Huawei.
Unlimited 5G with the Galaxy Active 2 watch also on LTE.
£79+£14 pm.
No upfront cost, all in black.
Watch comes tomorrow, phone on the 13th apparently..
I didn't even want 12GB as it'll just use more battery for no reason, 8GB is the sweet spot, but I'm excited about getting the device. Hopefully the exynos can bring a smile to my face, it's been a while since I had a Sammy.
12GB won’t use more battery... all about future proofing.
My S20 Ultra 512GB arrives Monday

Tbh 12GB over 8GB will use more exactly the same as 16GB will use more than 12. It's the nature of hardware.
Tbh 5000MAh sounds like if should be enough I think.
I think both will be superb.

Ordered mine just now from EE, bye bye Huawei.
Went with the 128GB as I barely use 50GB on my Huawei.
Unlimited 5G with the Galaxy Active 2 watch also on LTE.
£79+£14 pm.
No upfront cost, all in black.

I ordered a couple of weeks ago and was told the 13th (also black 128gb). The order tracker now says 24-26th March

That's crazy, I was told by EE today that it almost certainly will be the 13th which I believe is a Friday
I'm thinking they'll send it on the 16th and I'll have it on the 17th.
Who did you order from?
I've been in touch with their Twitter rep who (claims he) checked stock intake plans and identified there is an established queue. I am on it and will get mine 24th-26th as per my order page. People ordering today will get it on 31st March.
Essentially, your estimated delivery date is accurate. If it says 10th March, you got in early enough to be in the first batch, if not, you are in a later batch.

Thanks for that, is a shame as I would have obviously preferred to have it in the first batch. Maybe I would have got in the first batch if they didn't have issues processing the payment which meant I had to call up after the weekend to sort it out

Tbh missing the first batch may have been a blessing in disguise, often the first ones released have the most bugs, whether it be hardware or software.
Silver linings
Yeah, plus it gives them time to patch these camera issues we're reading about. At last we can make a decision about returning based on the "fixed" firmware rather than risking running out the return period waiting for an update.

Yea absolutely, tbh I've took a chance on so many devices, most of them HTC but some oddballs like the Sony Z1, great phone, awful modding community, same with the note 4, Evo 3D, great camera; unable to patch over to Cyanogenmod, bought that bugger and it was listed as SIM free for £556 which was then the highest priced smartphone of the time, 3 months later it was listed as £155 (this was the beginning of the end for HTC, they never recovered, such a shame, HTC did so much right for Android as a platform)
Even the S3 I bought was a risk, but it paid off, stellar device.
I think if Samsung are going to focus on the Exynos device ( which If what I've heard is true. They won't!
Reason I say this is because this is apparently the last exynos, not even the South Koreans are using it, for the first time)
I hope that Samsung allow updates to the exynos device drivers similar to the SD via the play store.
For me so long as the exynos can run the windwaker on dolphin then I'll be happy as it'll be on pay with the 855 from the SD range.
As for the battery, I have a unique set of apps and a great habit and track record of making a device last a long time and show the best SOT times I've ever seen.
Oneplus 5 - 14 hours 47 minutes over 2 days on 1 charge
P20 pro - 17 hours 30 minutes over 2.5 days on 1 charge
So I think if I set the device up right, I believe I'm going to break 20 hours, also before you think I am reading books or something, the app list is shown on the OnePlus forum.

It's not delayed. The problem is there are no stock to fulfill the demand for the Ultra. No one has been pre ordering the 20 plus or 20 really.
Have to say if they don't fulfill their promise to me about the 13th I'll be cancelling both this and the watch.

I'm not with virgin lad.. no idea, EE advised it would be the 13th. If it's not then I'm cancelling. Going to try the oppo V2 pro
Just got off the phone to EE as I got the active 2 watch with cellular WITH the phone and seeing as I have the watch and not the phone I was worried that id end up with a watch I couldn't use with my current phone, p20 pro.
The chap from EE clarified that I will definitely get the phone on launch, march 13th as I ordered on the 3rd..
So I'm quietly happy now, just hope they don't mess me about.
My advice if you're unsure, tell them that if there's a level of uncertainty that it won't be there on the day that's you've been promised then you'll cancel it if it doesn't show up.
With EE, they told me that my order status will update on the day before to say it's been allocated.
so noone got the phone yet so far, just as i said they are lying. I was told tomorrow but yet no email from Virgin
