Anyone having problems with music apps like Spotify not staying paused... - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Coming from the Note 7 and the Note 4, whenever you unplugged the headphone jack or turned off your car with bluetooth if I was listening to music through Spotify or other apps, it would pause and not play through the phone speakers.
On the V20 it pauses long enough to transition to the phone speakers and keeps playing. It also does not pause when taking or making a phone call at least on bluetooth in my car. It lowers the volume and sounds mono when placing or taking a call, but the audio does not pause.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

same...thought it was just me.

I think it's an issue with Spotify and 7.0.

nope. My spotify is working perfectly.

Same issue here (AT&T version)... also my bluetooth has been stuttering/skipping in my car when playing music

Same issue here my Spotify keeps on playing when I make or receive calls.

Same issue here, and half the time the music controls on both the lockscreen and notification panel dont show

It is just Spotify and it is after their last update. Downgrade to the previous version by sideloading the 6.2 version and you will be fine.
Remember to uncheck auto-update for Spotify until they fix. I'm trying out their betas currently to see if they fix it.

I'm having an issue with iHeartradio randomly stopping the feed

same here. After I disconnect from my car bluetooth it doesn't stop like most apps, it keeps going until I get away from the car and the phone loses bluetooth connection then it starts coming out of the speaker at full volume!

This is a issue with Spotify 6.3, since spotify developers are not acknowledging this or at least taking their time to fix it I highly suggest you downgrade to the more stable and bug free 6.2.
Note: You will not lose your playlists but you will have to redownload music if you download.
- uninstall Spotify
- make sure auto update in playstore is disabled or it'll automatically update you back to 6.3
- enable the ability to install apps outside of the playstore (I suggest disabling this setting once you've installed 6.2)
- go to http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/spotify-ltd/spotify/spotify-6-2-0-1028-release/
- download the apk for ARM architecture and install it
This fixes several issues including:
- bluetooth controls not working
- music still playing when answering the phone
- lock screen controls missing
- notification controls not working
Pretty clear to me that spotify didnt even bother with the most basic QC checks when they released this buggy pos.

On that same site the most recent Beta they have to download (which is version 6.5) fixes the issue permanently as well. I'm running the beta at the moment.

I tried the beta there are reports of the beta eventually having the same issue. I personally downgraded because the performance was poor on my phone (v10). Plus I can't imagine how many bugs are in their beta builds since their gm builds suck.

New Bluetooth Issue after MR - Weird Problem Playing Music/Podcasts via B/T Speakers

So the bluetooth ROM leak issue is definitely fixed. I can reboot the phone and it is still paired with my car, and I am able to make & receive calls perfectly.
However, when I try to play music or podcasts via the bluetooth speakers, absolutely nothing is heard. The music app/podcast player (BeyondPod) both show that they are playing, but nothing is heard. When I turn bluetooth off, both apps play their respective files perfectly through the phone speaker.
Whats REALLY weird is that when trying to play through bluetooth, they both are playing super fast i.e. for every second that passes in reality, the player says that it has played about 4 seconds (almost like its in fast forward).
Although its great that bluetooth can now pair perfectly and stay paired, Im now completely unable to play any media.
Would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this and/or has any ideas.
This is the ONLY issue I now have with the Hero and Im determined to get it sorted...
Thanks for all the help/comments

I have two CDMA Heros in my household, one rooted and one not. The unrooted phone went through the OTA update without problem and it played music over bluetooth speakers without any problem, just as it did before the OTA update.
I think it's an app setting of some sort. Some apps allow you to turn BT audio on and off. Try another app, like ACast or something.

Fresh ROM Bluetooth Issue Confirmed - Prevents Media Being played throgh B/T Speakers
OK, so Ive just confirmed that the Fresh 0.4 ROM has an issue with playing media through bluetooth speakers, and Sprint/HTC are 100% NOT responsible for it.
Originally, I restored back to my original Sprint ROM, updated to Fresh 0.4, and all worked perfectly; except for the fact that I was unable to play any media whatsoever through bluetooth speakers (making and receiving phone calls worked fine and all bluetooth ROM leak issues were fixed). What was weird was that the music app and podcast app i was using (BeyondPod) showed that they were playing, but they looked as if they were playing in fast forward i.e. for every second that past, 4 seconds of the song/podcast were played according to the app. NB: The phone and the speakers showed that the link was established perfectly (for whatever thats worth)
I then decided to go back to when I first got the Hero i.e. use the Sprint RUU to unroot and got back to original ROM. Then did the OTA MR.
Playing media through the speakers worked 100% perfectly.
So bottom line, something has been changed/removed in the Fresh ROM that messes up media via bluetooth.
I havent come across anyone else talking about this, but any additional info would be great.
All the best.
I have done a fresh clean (started with Sprint RUU) to a fresh 0.4 update (not from modaco) and i also have this issue. I also tried the above check and i got the same results. Please if you have this issue, contact the makers of fresh rom and let them know of the issue if they do not already know.

Music playback stops when using GPS navigation

I've noticed recently that after the Android 2.2 update for the Droid Incredible my music just stops completely while using Google navigation. I have to manually start the music again from its paused state every time the navigation system starts to speak.
With android 2.1 I used to be able to have the music playing and then when the navigation app needed to speak it would either just mute my music or pause it then speak and afterward resume the playback.
Has anyone else noticed this?
I'm not rooted btw with the stock rom from the Ruu that was released.
Has anyone noticed this?
Should I have just posted this in the Q&A section instead of general?
I've seen this as well, but not in every case. For example, music stops playing in Pandora, but continues in Mixzing. I'm not really sure who's the culprit in this case.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770724
Emptied my wallet for bTune.
bTune works fine with Google Navigation and Calls, but won't works with Google Actions.
It just keep on going regardless.
Battery life is the only thread that keeping me from going back for now, to 2.1 that is.
I have noticed the same thing when using Pandora. It's a little annoying. The only work around I've found so far is to mute the navigation voice over. Not my favorite solution but the only one I have at the moment.
I've noticed this as well when using Pandora. I'd love to see a fix for this.
When I ride my motorcycle I usually have one headphone in and use Google Navigation if I am going somewhere beyond what I can memorize for directions. The bonus was that I would also run Pandora over the headphones, but no more.

Music Stopping after a track or 2

Have noticed Music keeps stopping after a track or 2 when i have phone in pocket with display off. Some threads say is down to a task killer, but I dont have one of those, I have autokiller but I understand that shouldnt stop apps like music and doesnt have an exclude list, could it be the stock task manager (there doesnt seem to be an exclude list there either?). The only other thing I have installed recently is juicedefender, could that be doing it.
Any hints or tips, not found a solution using search yet.
I'm having the same issue with Spotify and Google Listen. I thought it was because of my headphones as they're on the way out but I guess not.
I only used the music player for the first time today and I have exactly the same thing happening. I can even hear the phone start up music so I think the player is causing the phone to reboot.
KE7 seems to have a bug with the music player causing it to soft reboot. A hard reset doesn't fix it. You can try PowerAmp for now as a replacement. Been using for a day or so and it is pretty awesome.
Ah ok, hopefully samsung will fix it soon then

I am noticing the same issue with the default music player, double twist, spotify, google listen and powerAMP.
I don't have any task killer apps which are set to automatically kill running apps.
I do have juice defender but all that should do is shut down the data connections, this surly should not affect playback.
Its quite annoying so I hope it gets fixed soon.
I have the same issue, has anyone found a cure? Doesn't matter what I am using IE radio, music or listen it just stops randomly.
I had the issue previously but think it was down to motion settings as since I disabled motion it has not happened (flip phone to mute sounds)
Hope this helps

My motion wasn't activated, but that seems to be the general answer, turn of motion.

Nexus Player and Kodi Bluetooth Headphones Issue

One if the better features on marshmallow was to allow the connection of Bluetooth head phones for audio, within regular apps this works flawlessly such as youtube, crunchyroll and the lean back launcher. Within Kodi there is always a silence gap of anywhere from a few seconds to 20 seconds at the beginning of anything been played, even if it does start to work as soon as you skip or pause the silence is back. I can see there were people complaining about this issue months ago and then nothing so I'm wondering if I've screwed something or people just don't use bluetooth headphones.
Currently I'm using the latest stock marshmallow and the official Kodi v16 (though I've tried them all with the same outcome). Also it happens with any file format.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I have the same problem. I think it has something to do with the quality of the streams in kodi or the cache size. However, I have no idea how to resolve it. What I do is I start the movie with earphones turned off and once it is playing then I turn on the earphones and it works. If I pause I lose the audio again.

Bluetooth audio stutter

Who else is facing audio stutter when listening to music over bluetooth?
I thought it was an issue with my headset (Sony SBH80) but it seems to be happening on all devices, its very bad when using stock music player. Its totally unusable.
I have intermittent music over Bluetooth in my car sometimes... When I shut all the apps it's fine..

When I used it with my last headunit in my car (sony-device) it worked fine! But since we switched to another car (mazda) it stutters frequently without any logical reason. I also didn't manage to recreate the issue as it, sometimes, play just fine.

I was using Samsung before z5 and I think Samsung Bluetooth and WiFi is much superior then Xperia... My Samsung could connect to my Asus ac router beyond 300 meter Xperia sometimes can't get connected while I am at home..

I have to live with multiple issues on Z5p, it heats up and the UI stutters when its hot . Battery life is not as good as my Z3...Wish Sony will address all of this in Xperia X performance at least.
But the bluetooth issue made me completely pissed, never have experienced this in any of my previous phones, even basic phones with no smart features have a decent bluetooth radio!
Same here. Got the bt stuttering on a regular basis. Phone restart helps for a limited amount of time. Super sucky problem indeed!
This problem has been addressed in the Sony Mobile Forum. Apparently the FM Radio app is causing the issue(even if you don't use it). To fix this, the FM Radio was removed in the next update, and added back again in the subsequent update after the issue has been fixed. So until the updates are released, we have to live with it.
I've got it too. Z5 premium dual sim 6.0.1 build 32.2.A.0.224.
Sometimes it's clean, other times audio breaks out intermittently.
It seems to be less when I turn on stamina mode (very bad compared to the old stamina mode and the notification is ugly) on the latest marshmallow update. Others please confirm if its the same case for you.

Same here I've isolated it to Wi-Fi. The occurrence is reproduced during periods when Wi-Fi button is on!
Will try with wifi off on the way home.
My target is Kia head unit which works fine against
HTC one m7
Xperia z1
Nexus 5
Sgs6 edge
Only z5 premium giving issues.
My ear tells me that there is a buffer under run occurring... some bucket is running empty and the audio stream cuts out.
I occasionally have connections where I don't have stuttering but my experience is not consistent
It's irritating.
I've been getting this recently, not all the time but it's getting worse as time goes on.

I have a Sony SRS-X33 and it plays everything without any hiccup using high quality profile.
I have a Samsung sound dock DA E750 top of the line. I never had sound shuddering with Nokia, Samsung, iPhone. Unfortunately Xperia z5 I get it often...

So the last update does fix a bit, no stuttering when turning up or down the volume. It does however still stutter here and there which is too damn annoying.
What I do not understand is... What the hell changed from Lollipop to Marshmallow? It never stuttered in Lollipop...
I honestly don't believe it's happening because of the radio, otherwise it would have happened in Lollipop as well.
i also suffer this bluettoth issue but the stange thin is that not in all paired device i had that.
whit all standard bluetooth speaker it goes well no issue but i had that when i try to connect to my beoplay a2. i think it's relataded to the connection on aptx device ,cose on my boombox and vibe thor i had no problem
i see in music option, if you're connected to an aptx device, that the phone use the sony personal ldac protocol not the aptx.
maybe this is the problem

Before marshmallow everything was fine for me. Only after the MM update this issue surfaced...
Sent from my SO-03H using Tapatalk
Same thing happening to me - the only solution I found so far is to restart the phone in Safe Mode (hold the power button, then hold the finger on the Shut Down button on screen and chose Reboot in Safe Mode option), then restarting again - after this it's fine for some time - sometimes it's few days, sometimes it's just few hours, hit and miss.
Before Marshmallow Update all was good.
