Question regarding annoying bell - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone. I am going to buy an axon 7 someday soon. And I have a question regarding the bell I read bothers some.
Does installing nova launcher allow for a better experience?

The thing with the bell is that you have to press the bell to see the notifications. Your notifications won't be there when you turn the screen on but will have to press the bell. That's all, it's not the end of the world. ..just one extra step to see your notification is all.

To be honest, I never see my lockscreen. I always use the fingerprint sensor.

The Bell will be optional in the next update,

remove wifi on notification pulldown?

When im connected via wifi., it shows up on my pulldown. .any way to remove that? Thanks
I too find this to be idiotic and annoying. It's the icon in the status bar seriously not enough? AT&T/Samsung really bloated this thing up like never before.

Yeah seriously annoying !
That's an at&t thing... It's been present on past phones. e.g. The sgs3... The at&t variant had that annoying notification that all other variants didn't.
Oh, no Verizon did it on the GS3 and I hated that crap. Every time I dropped down the menu I would hit WiFi and suck the battery down. PITA.
Hopefully when some developers get hold of this thing, they will find a workaround. Just takes up space.
Att skyrocket does that to when it got the jb update

Strange cause my i717 og note doesn't show this on ICS. What a waste of space!
Things that need to disappear - FAST
- Wifi Connected persistant notification on the Ongoing Notification pull down
- Smart Stay / Pause / etc icon on the notification bar (at least the SIII would only show this icon when in use, not all the damn time!)
- NFC icon on the notification bar (why, God, why)
Other than that, I love this thing! Definitely a huge improvement over the SIII, IMO
I actually find this useful because I have att dsl for the most common use cases and cable for low latency lag free gaming (farcry 3).
It's really quick to switch between them with this notification.

No one here is talking about the toggle switch.
And btw if you long press on the wifi toggle it goes to the wifi setting
I wasn't referring to the toggle. If I touch the notification wifi connected. Which is in the drop down notifications. It takes me to wifi settings where I select the ap I want to switch or connect to.
I am running holo launcher hd.
Not sure if that makes any difference.

That's the point long press on the toggle gets you there it just takes out notification space annoying ...

Nexus 4 coming tomorrow.

Hey guys, I've got a nexus 4 coming tomorrow and I am really excited! However, there is one thing that kind of scares me... Do the on-screen buttons take up a lot of screen space? Also, what is the best way to deal with them.
Thanks in advance!

No, they don't use much space. Some people like to use the PIE instead, I personally turn on expanded desktop on CM10.1 and downloaded a gesture control app. Works pretty good, esp. because I didn't like the PIE
Haha mine is coming in tomorrow too! Along with the wireless charger and cases I bought off of Amazon!

That makes 3 of us :good: I finally pulled the trigger. I will be receiving it tomorrow. Hope to get the case and SP tomorrow too..
Also most roms have options to change the height of the navbar

Theres not really a "best" way.
Why not just use "fastboot flash recovery" to install it? Its probably the most efficient and direct way to go about it.

The size and alignment of on-screen buttons is perfect with respective to screen size. However, you can change their size also after rooting the device.
Do you mean flashing it through like twrp?

The navbar?

Honestly you can adapt to both options, I used to use it normally and now I am using pie

T-Mobile lied to me... T_T
They said it would be coming expedited next day but they sent it ground shipping... Won't be here till Monday or Tuesday! Lame.
I prefer the navigation bars over pie. If you use a custom rom with the feature then you can adjust it's size so it appears smaller on the screen.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Flash a custom ROM and adjust the size of them. I personally think the size of the Navbar on stock is hideous, whenever I compare my phone to my friend's stock N4 I think that mine just looks so much cleaner with less black space at the bottom of the screen. 70% works perfectly for me, not too small but not intrusive either.
Just got mine today! Love it so far!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
The screen buttons are about a quarter of an inch, which imo is fine. Coming from an s3 I prefer on screen buttons over physical buttons any day and will be a deciding factor in buying any future phone.
Yeah on screen a really more responsive in my opinion. Find myself only having to hit them once unlike my s3.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks guys for all of the info, really excited for my phone to come... Coming from an HTC One S right now and I really like being able to have my recent apps key double as menu on short press and recent apps on long press... Would that be possible with the onscreen buttons?
Sorry for the double post, just wanna say that it arrived last night and I couldn't be any happier on a work day. XD
I don't find them intrusive at all even on the default size, but then again I migrated from an 800x480 phone, lol.
They also auto-hide when playing videos - tapping the screen during the video brings them back again for a few seconds.
Flashing a custom ROM is great for customizing the buttons and what they do. I find that I prefer a menu button over having to hunt for a 3-dot overflow, and I also find a search button useful for quickly bringing up the address bar in the browser so I can type a URL. So thanks to CM10.1 I was easily able to reconfigure the onscreen buttons - I now have Back, Home, Menu, and Search from left to right. The Menu button doubles as a Recent Apps Switcher when longpressed.
What is annoying though is that they are easy to accidentally hit when using apps in portrait mode. I have inadvertently exited Carmageddon many times to my extreme rage :/

Everyone with an s4 watch this

Need some input please. Watch this video that I filmed of my s4 earlier and tell me if your phone does this too.

Occasional home button response delay
Sent from my Galaxy S4
Your definition of Lag is definitely different than my definition. However, the "home" button has a short pause because it is designed that way. It is waiting (just a fraction of a second) to see if you are going to use it for it's double tap option or not. Disable this feature (you can search for how) and that very little delay should go away.

You did a 10 minute video for that???? I believe when you say you have OCD. I suggest you to seek professional help, and not from Samsung support
I agree there's nothing wrong with your phone.. But they're might be something wrong with you if a .01 millisecond delay bothers you to the point of making a 10 minute video and rambling on and on about it. I would try and get laid if I were you and stop worrying about the phones home button.. Not that big of a deal

Thank goodness for fast forward or that would have been a painful 10 minutes.
You should all kinds of weirdness with your launcher - how about going back to stock 100% first. But from what I see things are fine. Maybe the mechanical home button is slower then the touchscreen. You could always return it for an iPhone.
Hahahahaha is this guy serious
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
Limiting the process to four will negatively impact your performance.
More ram usage does not mean more battery usage, in fact it should usually save battery because the applications are already loaded in ram when you go to use them. If you are constantly killing them you'll have to reload from nand flash and back into ram.
Also you should probably try to make shorter videos
Do you have any idea why when I have maybe 5 apps in my recent list my home button response has a slight delay but then if I clear all recent the home button response is basically instant?
Sent from my Galaxy S4
I actually went to at&t yesterday to compare mine to the display models and the home button response was exactly the same, until I started loading multiple apps then mine was a tad bit slower. You guys might think this is ridiculous but I'm just trying to make sure that I don't have a defective device. I have like 6 more days to return it to Verizon if i feel I do.
Sent from my Galaxy S4
If you feel your device is a defect. Just go get an exchange. Let us know how your second device is doing.

your not crazy, the lag is def there. however, it is designed to be like that, so there will be no changing it. just ignore these trolls, everyone loves the opportunity to come out from the shadows to spew spite all over the newbs and repeat posters.
Well I took the s4 back and they exchanged it for another. Seems to be working much better.

Anyone come from a nexus 4? I have both now and can't decide.

Just got my g2 this am and its not that I'm disappointed I just don't know if its worth the full retail I paid over my nexus4. I'm moving to India in a few months so lte does not really matter to me.
Anyone come from a n4 to the g2 and have any insight on what you are enjoying more about the n4?
*not a fan of the lg skin but figure its just a matter of time till we have aosp roms.
Picture comparison between the two

I am considering the same thing. Can you post pics of them together? I may wait for the nexus 5 but think i like the buttons on the back and bigger battery. I hope the bootloader is able to be unlocked.
Sure give me a few and I will grab some pictures.
Overall the nexus feels better in the hand to me, love the back glass feel, I don't mind dealing with stock for a couple weeks as long as that bootloader becomes unlockable and we get some aosp action.
Re: the buttons on the back, I don't mind em one bit and actually like em but I don't use volume up/down much on my phone anyway.
My phone is on back order, but I'll be giving my wife my Nexus 4 so I can't comment on that decision, but I'm definitely keeping the G2 for myself. I played with one for a few minutes and I'm sold.

Thanks!! Really loving the bezels. I see you hide your onscreen keys on the Nexus.... Decisions, Decisions. I may wait to see if the new nexus is based off of this.
I've had a nexus 4 one and s4 in the last 6 months and now g2.. loving the g2, screen is better on the g2, way better battery life, snappier processor better camera.. Also aosp Roms will come in time... That said I will undoubtedly get the next nexus as I'm a gadget junkie.

I had them all too, but I find myself back with the nexus. Mainly for the simple things. I love the onscreen buttons and cyanogenmod mms with the quick reply and functions. I would love the battery life and better camera though, .
Wow they really are close in size! The nexus screen looks great with the buttons hidden. Does the G2 not allow 3rd party wallpapers appear behind transparent notification bar and buttons at the bottom?

Weird issues

Hello everyone. Had my Note 3 for about a week now and I love it. A couple of things I've noticed and wonder if anyone else has this. I like to disable the animations in Developer Options so the phone feels more fluid. But for some reason the transition animations wont stay off. They always go back to 1. Second question. Just recently my 4Glte icon doesn't hide like it used to. It now sits next to my wifi icon for no real reason. Anyone else?

Was also confirmed by a lot of peeps here in xda including me of the transition animation bug

Ok that's good that it's not just me. So what about my 4Glte icon always being visible all of a sudden? Just some random bug?
