Fast charging not working and phone charging extremely slow - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

So I'm on the 935u for about a month and a half now and had no problems. All of a sudden today my phone stopped fast charging and is in fact charging extremely slow. I was on zero percent and put my phone on the charger around 6pm. It is now 1am and I'm at 49%. I'm thinking this is a hardware problem but before I bring the phone to Verizon I wanted to see if anyone else had this prob? Also will version give me a hard time since Im on the 935u software?

If you're worried about Verizon giving you a hard time then flash back Verizon's firmware. But before your return it I would test out the functionality of fast charging and see what happens. If it works then why return it? Also if it works then I would say flash back to the U firmware and test again. Don't restore old settings or anything.
Or you could just start from where you are now and flash the U firmware over your current U firmware to reset any setting changes you have made. I know, it's a lengthy process but it's better than going back to the store and dealing with Verizon.

turns out there might be an issue with my usb port. My phone won't even detect I connected it to my pc. It just shows charging. No options come up for media or anything. I can't even reset my phone to stock rom. This sucks.

Rooted? If so, you have to go into the developer options to change the usb mode. There is no pop up on the phone, it defaults to charging mode.

Are you sure the cable is a data cable? If it's the stock cable then try to get ahold of another Samsung cable. Someone else had a similar problem with their S6 on another forum.

yep, its the stock cable. I plugged in my wifes s6 on it and it worked perfectly.

Anyway to flash stock rom without the use of odin or usb?

Weirdly enough, I was having this same issue yesterday. Couldn't figure out what was going on - then tried a different cable and it charged normally. I think those Samsung cables aren't built very well. Ordering that PowerLine+ from Anker.

so verizon exchanged it via warranty no issues. They just checked to see if it was rooted whichi it wasn't and confirmed that the usb port was defective. All is well in the world again!

I was having this problem about 4 weeks ago. I tried everything but nothing worked. Rebooting would help for a bit then it would slow down to a crawl when I tried to wireless charge. Then I recalled I had taken an update recently and hadn't done a factory reset. I had traditionally always done one because in the past android was always buggy if you didn't. I thought android was supposed to have gotten better about taking updates without needing a FR so I had decided to do one without and had no problems for a while so forgot about it. When I realised that was the issue I saved as much as I could with Helium (normally I would use Titanium but I don't like the root method so for now have remained stock) and performed a FR. Since then I have had no issues and wireless charging works as expected.
TLDR: Backup everything and perform a factory reset.

Battery issues, what is my best course of action?

Currently on dirkk's 1. 1 uv kernel(voodoo) and the superclean Rom
My phone thinks the. Usb is always connected and flashes between "fully charged" and real battery level. Also getting a lot of force closes for process. Android. Acore. It's quite frustrating. I have tried clearing battery stats in clockwork mod. This combination worked fine until about a week ago.
What else should I do? Start over? Try another Rom?
Thank you!

im no expert but i blame voodoo. try uninstalling it.
-removed voodoo
-installed a new kernel and ROM (superfast and blackhole)
The problem persists
The phone thinks it is connected to the USB when it is not, and also getting a force close for process.android.acore every few minutes. FML
Wipe the dalvik cache and batt.stats again and try another cable.

Tried and tried.
Have brought the phone back as close to stock as possible without using Odin. That's my next option. No force closes but the USB and battery issued persist. Geek squad warrenty might be worth it: x

You have a one year warranty on the phone. If it's a genuine hardware problem, take the phone in and have it replaced.
Its looking like a hardware issue, I used odin to get it completely stock and the issue is still there. USB thinks it is always connected (which made it a huge PITA to get into the SD card to add files or use ADB) and the battery life is everywhere. Also wont boot without a USB cable plugged in. Very interesting hardware issue, my guess is the USB port got buggered up.

thinks its charging....

so i've noticed multiple times today (just got it yesterday, rooted) that the charging indicator flashes on and off. this keeps bringing it out of standby. although sometimes the screen turns on without it saying charging but that seems to be a known issue.
but whats up with the charging flashing
full reset and its still doing it
actually i think it has to do something with rooting
i used this http://androidflip.com/how-to-root-acer-iconia-a500-with-stock-honeycomb-3-1/
but i unrooted and uninstalled and its not doing it now....
any other root method for 3.1?
Strange
Never had this issue on my a500 - but have the exact same issue on my Samsung Intercept with a slightly damaged charging port - after unplugging the system will still show as charging and offer to mount as an external storage device - even though it's not plugged into anything.
Had the random screen on when I was still on a 3.0 based rom - have you registered your tablet with Acer and upgraded ota to 3.1? Can also manually flash 3.1 update.
best of luck!
i just updated my last post,
but yeah im on the latest ota 3.1 in the US and registered

well cancel my happiness. did a reboot and now it fully thinks its charging. no flickering.
even plugged it in and unplugged and still says charging.
this time i plugged it in and rebooted. at least the notification went away
edit: and its back.
really strange....
May want to just return it and snag a new one if that is easy/possible.
After your full reset did you do any Modding/install any apps? May be possible something you are running is causing the issue, but I am really stumped on this one.
Could always get cwm running and reset the battery cache, but I am pretty doubtful that is gonna do anything.
same problem for me here.though I did not root my device yet.it shows charging with no charger plugged in.also recognized that my battery indicator sometimes remains on a certain percentage and hangs.after a restart it shows the actual battery level.I am on stock rom 3.0.1...maybe I send it back tomorrow.because this is really enoying...
yup. mine just started doing the hanging at one percentage til reboot
don´t know if it´s software or even hardware related

Nexus 4 USB-Debugging doesn't work

Hi Guys,
I used the new Nexus 4 Toolkit to unlock the bootloader.
As I unfortunately dont have 10 Posts, I cant ask in this thread, so I hope it's ok to ask here.
I installed the drivers with USB-Debugging (as before for my galaxy nexus) and unlocked the bootloader.
So far everything went normal and good!
Then I wanted to root the system. It was said that I've to enable USB-Debugging again and the system will reboot.
But then :
I tap on "Enable USB-Debugging" and I'm asked If im sure. After this, nothing happens. Usually I see a information-icon, that usb-debugging is enabled in the taskbar.
This icon is now missing. And im completly not able to connect to phone via PC and use ADB.
Im slightly desperated, as anything I could do requires ADB/USB-Debugging.
Can you guys help me?
Thanks in advance.
Does your phone show up as MTP storage OK?
I remember my One X decided to cease all USB activity except charging once, a reboot sorted it.
The USB debugging icon is a little jelly bean as per the attached screenshot.
thanks for your reply.
I dont remember If it was shown as MPT-Storage - will check this immediately after work
THe Jelly-Bean-Icon showed up before, when used the toolkit to unlock the bootloader.
I also rebooted the phone several times
Ok, now everything seems to be identified correctly, again. Very strange.
Maybe the PC needed to be restarted.
Sorry for this post. It can be closed.
Thank you!
Were you able to resolve the problem?
I actually have the same problem also my Nexus 4 is getting very hot and the battery is drain within 4 hours from 100% to ~10% (about 400-800mA consumption).
All stock - I've already contacted the google support but now are holidays.

I've got the same problem, except my device is not loading until 100%. It gets really hot while not doing anything and it's empty in about 3 hours.
I figured out that the Nexus is only charged via "USB" although it's plugged in the charger.
Now my device is charging up until 100% but it still gets hot, is empty in about 5 hours and if I connect it in fastboot mode my laptop says that the drivers are not installed properly even though I installed the naked drivers. Re-installing the drivers does not work either, it says that my laptop already had the right drivers installed. And when I connect my device when it's booted it is not recognized at all and does not show up in the device manager. I tried three other cables... Sounds like an USB brick, right?

My battery life got a lot better with the new Franco kernel but the USB-debugging is just gone. I was wondering if maybe one of the recovery developers could help here. Need some help!

Good day,
I've been running a GT-I9505 ROM on my i337m for a couple of months and it had been working great. Then randomly one day I started getting an MHL wakelock that wouldn't let my device sleep at all. I reflashed the ROM and I still had this issue, I also noticed that my device wouldn't recognize being plugged in, and would charge extremely slow. I decided to flash my carriers stock ROM (Rogers on MG1) in ODIN. Its back running the stock ROM but I cant turn wireless on (Which happened last time I flashed back to stock briefly), it still won't recognize a charging cable and Knox is giving me the old "An application is attempting to do something I don't like blah blah blah."
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Just some added information, The phone know when its plugged in when its powered off, I'll get the big grey battery icon.
- Did a second flash of the stock firmware and WIFI now works.
I'm just guessing but I think I'd try a different usb cable.

but over the years if I could not find a solution I wiped all including system 3x
format both sdcards, the external one outside of phone
seems like a pita--s, but doing that and thena reflashing your stock firmware with odin seems like the only way to get back to the beginning

Charging problems
Hi there.
Last week, I got the OTA update for my Swift 2 Plus. Now, when I try to charge the phone I observe massive problems.
1. Charging with Quick Charge 3.0 does not appear possible. There even observe a reduction of the battery charge when connected to the charger.
2. Charging with a standard fast charger (2.1 Amps) is not really fast. It gives me about 25-30% overnight, if I switch off the phone.
3. Charging via the USB port of a computer is hardly possible. (It is at least so slow that no progress is recognizable.)
I tried already different chargers and different cables, without any improvement. The same chargers and cables work perfectly with two other identical phones (but without the update) and before the update, I did not observe any problems when charging my phone with the various chargers and cable. I also tried to clean the contacts on the phone, without any improvement, too.
The update which was offered to me was already the one of the second round. I understand (and observed myself) that the first update was withdrawn again, because of battery charging problems.
Is anyone aware of a (convenient) solution for my problem?
1. So far, I tried to get a solution from Wileyfox support. I guess that I don't have to tell anybody that my experiences with the support a more than disappointing. Several times I got the answer that my problem is forwarded to the Senior Team Leader who will get back to me shortly. (I'm still waiting, at least for a specification of the term "shortly".)
2. I also tried to connect the phone to the computer in order to save the relevant data and in order to check if I can transfer an update filed to the phone (with the idea to carry out an update manually). However, the phone is not recognized by the computer. The different options und USB-settings do not have any effect. (Note that developer mode ("Entwickleroptionen") is activated, of course.)
3. I considered to try the factory reset. However, it is not clear to me how a can assure, especially under the given circumstances that no data connection to the computer can be established, that I can restore my phone to the current status (with all apps, app data and documents) again.
Your help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks to everbody in advance.

Thanks for your answer.
No. Definitely not. I have never heard of this possibility.
I have to investigate firstly how this installation can be carried out. I fear, if the installation requires the transfer of the ROM onto the phone via USB, that the lack of a data connection between the computer and the phone might finally prevent me from succeeding with this option.
