T-Mobile & B&O PLAY earphones - LG V20 Questions & Answers

So other pre-orders people aren't shocked or disappointed as well you *DON'T* receive the headphone in your box. There are 2 ways to get them.
1) The LG promo on LG.com
Note the deal doesn't open up until 10/28/2016
or
2) Visit the store, bring your box, and agreement and pick them up after 10/28/2016
Hopefully they will have enough in store when I turn in my V10.
I just LGUP'd my V10 back to stock and it's ready to go back to T-Mobile. Loving the weight of the V20 vs the V10. It feels so much better in the hand. Now we'll see how the battery life is.

I'll wait on lg...but I'll call and see if T-Mobile can ship

I did call T-mobile and they said these were the only two options. T-mobile doesn't actually fulfill the order and T-mobile needs to let LG know the promo is legit by producing proof of sale and the IMEI #.

Who is to blame for this poor G2 launch on at&t, my experience..

So I go to my nearest local at&t store and when I ask for it they said I think we have it on display, but not in stock. Maybe will get stock later from delivery. I go to my next nearest store, and they have it on display as well. I ask him to get me one and he says they have none in the back. I have a definite contact that would hold one for me at his store but its an hour from me but I was about to take the road trip. As I left the 2nd at&t store, I get in my car and the 2nd at&t store rep calls me on my phone and says I found some in the back they were in my managers office. I go back and purchase it off contract. I dare ask for any available cases, he goes to the back again and says they cant find none but one pink one. I said no thanks, no offense to pink cases.
So with that being said, who's fault is this? I actually think it's LG's fault for not pushing for a bigger launch. They dont seem worried, oh well I got one and I'm liking it. Gonna root it and debloat this poor bloated G2. I just hope the battery life is better than my sgs4, I'm using whatever charge it came with today. It sort of reminds me of my nexus 4, the double tap to turn on/off is a stock feature I thought I would never see.
Anyone else with a similar experience? Maybe companies should not launch on Friday the 13th??

This is why I ordered on AT&T website. I placed the order 9/10 at 11pm and it was in my hands on 9/12. I hate dealing with local AT&T stores, at least in the DC/Metro area.
ordered the friday it came out on 9/6 was in my hands monday morning, have been in contact with the guys on IRC, hope we can get this thing cracked soon. =P
Same here. Premier order was even worse. I actually ended up getting one in store this morning. My premier order is still processing from the 11th. Will refuse it when it comes since I can't cancel according to them even though it hasn't shipped.

Bottom line is At&t employees are bunch of dummies. Kidding. Im sure people are quite smart going in but once theyve been in the cluster F ( that is At&t) they are screwed. At&t tells them what phones to push ( Iphones, S4's HTC's etc) and all the others are just fillers. Ive been into at&t stores before and educated the sales rep about the phones they have on display and in most cases they dont even care. This is your freggin job people!! Hello???!!! I ran into the same thing when I purchased the LG OGP - they were clueless and kept wanting me to take a look at the HTC One! Im sure its partly LG's fault but end of the day (IMO) its not just At&t employees that are clueless, Ive encountered the same thing at TMO and Verizon stores too. Never set foot in a Sprint store so I can comment on them.

I've experienced the same thing from AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Almost none of the reps that I've spoken with are knowledgeable on phones. I went to a Verizon store wanting to purchase an HTC Droid DNA and was directed to a Note II. I advised him of the reason I was interested in the DNA. Not interested in the Note for the same reasons.

Well I used to work for At&t and I can tell you that they do not really care which phones you buy (to an extent). They only really make money off of contracts. The problem is that they only educate workers on the more popular phones, so they tend to show you a Samsung so they don't look stupid since they know nothing about LG. The problem is that they are really pushing you to increase your MRC (Monthly Recurring Revenue). So they want things like Mobile Protection Pack and they encourage you to add a line or buy marked up accessories. It doesn't matter which phone you buy. They spend very little time teaching employees about a Snapdragon 800 and lots of time about the 5 key behaviors of sales. I just happen to be a hardcore phone enthusiast so would be able to talk with customers about every phone. So this is the real reason behind another terrible LG launch. Like the G Pro. At&t only cares about phones that will bring in more customers so they can increase sales, like iPhones. plus people who buy iPhones tend to buy more accessories and have multiple cases. And people like us tend to shop online and only buy store accessories when we're desperate and are waiting for our case from Amazon to arrive. So there you have it guys.
I agree.

Returning G4 (810)

The LG G4 is one of the best phones I have owned. I truly appreciate it, however it has some nagging issues with carrier restrictions and as much as I hate to do it, my AT&T 810 G4 is going back. I am not happy about it, and may pick up an international (815) one soon, but I decided this one was going back.
Why Send it back?
No Root, No Bootloader Unlock
AT&T Bloatware
AT&T Disabled FM Radio
AT&T OTA pushes
Leather back felt cheap, and I could not find a good case to fit it
Nexus 5 2015
This is a great phone, and I have nothing against functionality or performance.
Whats Next?
Returning to my trusty HTC One M7 (For Now)
See what happens with the Nexus 5 2015
Might pickup an LG G4 815 International
Wait and see where developers go with unlocking the G4

Root and unlock will happen, the leather back I have feels high class (t-mo brown) you can freeze bloat with de-bloater tool (all mine is) I dont use the radio (too many apps to use it, plus some of them have local radio) ota-cant help that... I'll most likely get the Nexus 5 as. Well....while keeping this phone.....you did admit its a great phone!
OP has all fair points. Not mad.. but sorry to see you go.

Looks like you need to buy a phone full price, no carrier BS.
Sorry to see you go, but I completely understand. I have seen things in this forum that US carriers do to that phone and I have no idea WTF they are thinking.
As for root, I have faith.:good:
Sadly, mine's going back as well. As much as I like the phone, there are currently too many things that annoy me. I'm with Verizon, so the missing apps started me out on the wrong foot. Then throw in LG and/or Verizon not honoring the $100 GB of Google Drive storage as promised, and the touchscreen issues. Finally, I got a notice from Verizon and my bill went up $23 instead of dropping a couple bucks which two Best Buy reps assured me it would. I spoke to a Best Buy manager, and they agreed to return the phone a month after I purchased it (as well as cancel the Edge plan).
All in all, it's a great phone but it's not significantly better than my trusty G3 (slightly better CPU, camera, battery etc...) enough to offset the additional expense. I have a bunch of accessories for the G4 that I'm holding onto, so I'll probably pick one up further down the road. I'd opt for the international version for obvious reasons. I assume that the unlocked version will work fine on a CDMA network with the proper set-up.
UPDATE: Nope... I guess I'm keeping it. After two Verizon reps assured me that I could cancel my Edge agreement, when the time came to do so the rep I got said in no uncertain terms that it wasn't going to happen. So even though Best Buy admitted that they screwed up and offered to return the phone AND twice Verizon said otherwise, I'm now told that I would have to buy out the remainder of the contract. I can't complain too much, since I got the $100 Best Buy gift card and Verizon kicked in a $145 bill credit for the mistake.
Unlocked International won't be a good idea..... As long as Verizon doesn't transition to full LTE and still uses CDMA till 2017, this won't work as voice won't go over GSM...
Actually holding back from the G4 because of those as well. Let's see what this year's Nexus have to offer and probably the OnePlus Two as well.
I did the same. Unless there is a viable unlock + root option no LG G4 for me!

Yep, I am waiting to. I may head back to LG4 if there is an unlock and root option.
I can certainly respect your decision, even if I would not do the same thing. Sorry that you did not get as much out of your G4 as you were expecting that you would, I just hope you can find a phone that fits your needs and you can have more fun with.
BTW - That Nexus 5 2015 does sound pretty promising, if you pick one up be sure to let me know how it is.
im in the same boat, Att H810 have the least number of bands out of all G4 variants, so I can't get data even when I unlock the phone to use in Asia.
But I am already past my 14 days period so fml.

Call recorder. This is a must have app for everyone who interacts with any business at all. They're always going to record your call for 'quality assurance', which automatically gives you the right to record it as well (at least in California) without informing them. Always good for CYA situations like this.

LG V20 available through VZW starting Oct. 20th.

I bet all carriers release before 28th
Why is pricing such a secret with this device? So weird.
Can't wait to get this in my hands soon! I love the V10 so far (it's a loaner device between the Note 7 and V20) and know I'll love the V20 even more!
Yeah can't wait for it either. I'm coming from the Note 7. Hate giving up this device but the V20 looks like a great phone.

As a long time Verizon customer, I knew it was only a matter of time until they released the V20, as they first wanted to have a push for the Pixel exclusivity.
Still, would like a bootloader unlocked device that can at least be rooted.
It would also be nice is Verizon had a nice deal like what Tmobile is doing.

Verizon is definitely doing the deal with getting the free pair of headphones but it's to be seen if they will sweeten the deal like Tmobile.

According to various forums and here, the V20 is arriving at doorsteps today for many T-mobile customers. I am jealous, they just started the pre order and I pre ordered mine a week ago with AT&T and may not see it until next week
Can't wait for Verizon to get their pre order up. I'm pretty sure I'm ordering it. This being posted from my note 7. Like many others I don't want to get rid of this phone but oh well. LG v20 looks like a good replacement.

All deals that Tmo is doing can all be traced back to being LG deals. The headphones, tablet bundle and even the making sure devices are given a minimum $200 trade in value.
So from the looks of it, the best deal is for T-Mobile as they are also getting a $200 trade in credit for any working 4G phone and a free tablet, in addition to the B&O Earbuds. Verizon is just the Earbuds (which all carriers are doing). Best Buy is doing a $200 BB Gift Card.

Anyone upgrading to the S8+?

Hey everyone,
Just wondering if anyone on here is giving up their N7 for the S8+? Most specs look to be better, with the exception of the S-Pen of course.
Any idea when the N8 will be out? Though they did mention that they will be re-releasing the N7 as refurbs.
Debating about the S8+ at this point.
I love the N7, but who knows when the N8 will be out, so debating...
Called T-Mbile to find out if I still get a refund and they said YES 2 days ago. They said I would get back the downpayment/tax and whatever the monthly charges were up until the day when I called, so it came out to close to 400, but they said it would be in credits to the account, which I am fine with either way. Today I chatted with them online instead of calling, and they advised that the recall was finished and that refunds are no longer being given, but recommended I see a local store, so now I am not sure what to do.
I'll wait for the N8 and I think I heard people say the N8 would be out at the end of the year. Don't quote me on that.
If they are re releasing the N7. As long as it is still a beast of a phone like it was on original release. I will be happy with that. At a cheaper price of course. The pen spoiled me that's for sure
Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk
That is kind of what is holding me back, the lack of the S-Pen, but if you were to ask me how often do I use it, I'd say about 5 times since I got the phone in my hand haha
I like the luxury of having it if I need/want to use it, but do not find myself using it that much unfortunately.

I will head to the store today to see if I like the s8+ or not. the only thing really holding me back would be the fact that i wont be able to jump to the N8 when it comes out since it will be less than a year or 50% of the phone, so thats really the one and only thing. S8 is technically better in terms of specs I think. It is a bit more narrow but bigger screen, but no s-pen.
Eh, decisions, decisions lol
You'll get your credit, only thing is if you were in Jump on Demand then it gets voided and you have to start a different jump program.
It sucks, I didn't wanna have to get rid of JOD. I'm debating if I want to or not now.

Yep, I was thinking of that too, but I was originally on Jump 2.0 and did not want to switch to JoD. I dont remember the reasoning why I DIDNT want to switch, but i'm fine with J2.0 because I only jump ones a year either way to the next best samsung lol
Note 7 to Galaxy S8+ Jump on Demand
I've been a lurker on XDA until now; I will describe my time with the Note 7 and switch to the (pre-ordered) S8+.
I obtained my Note 7 shortly after it was released a second time. Confident that the batteries were fine despite allegations of a second round of explosions, I decided to keep my device. I downloaded (and pointedly resisted updating) EZ Disabler Pro, and promptly disabled updates as users on this forum warned of upcoming updates that would limit battery life, and functionality. The app and update restrictions have been in place since November 2016; therefore I still possess a Note 7 device which charges to 100% and more or less performs the way it was intended to at the time of release.
I use my S-Pen constantly. Smart Select is a tool I use multiple times, every day, and I will be quite sad to let it go as I upgrade to the Galaxy S8+. However, having a supported device which will receive updates and is not banned on commercial aircraft is worth the trade in until the Note 8 pops in October of this year.
T-Mobile has made the transition difficult. Any time I call about billing issues or service agreements, representatives ask me about the Note 7 and seem to be unable to process requests on my line because of the phone's status as a recalled device. The first time I called into to pre-order the Galaxy S8+ and trade in my Note 7 through Jump on Demand, I was refused. The representative informed me that I would be unable to complete this trade in due to the Note 7's status, and that I must continue through a standard Jump upgrade, which would put me on an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP). I firmly believe in technology leasing due to the financially unfeasible process of owning the latest devices, and was not willing to take the EIP route. Instead, I ended my call with T-Mobile and decided to do some research on the JoD lease.
In my research I found that as a lessee, I do not own my Note 7. The Note 7 belongs to T-Mobile, and they must take it back and continue my program with a new phoneas long as the trade in device meets the physical requirements for return. (My phone is in mint condition) I also found that pre-orders are covered under JoD, and then was confused as to why I was being refused.
After learning this, I called T-Mobile again, in the early morning hours (I'm in EST US) at about 2am. Turns out that standard customer service representative in the US are just lazy and unwilling to do research. My rep was based in the Philippines and while she initially had responses very similar to earlier reps I had spoken to, upon being asked direct questions about my JoD lease, she took the time (spent about 75 mins on the phone with her) to look through documentation, click through menus on her employee terminal and find the option of continuing my JoD lease, and pre-ordering the S8+ through that portal.
TLDR;
If you're being told that you can't continue JoD because you have a Note 7 and would like to trade in for the S8(+), ask direct questions about your lease until the reps stop being bums and actually go through the documentation. IT IS POSSIBLE TO PRE-ORDER THE S8+ ON JoD COMING FROM A NOTE 7. They will take the first opportunity to hand you off to another rep or force you through the method that they are most familiar with. Keep in mind, newer reps may not know anything about JoD since the program has long been unavailable to new customers. Foreign reps in my experience (whether it be for billing issues, accidental charges, line adjustments, etc) seem to care more your situation/satisfaction than the average US rep.
P.S:
Be warned, JoD is no longer available to new or existing customers. If you leave JoD now, it will not be possible to get back on such a lease. JoD lessees are grandfathered to the program.

I own my Note 7 outright, paid in full. I have no intentions of getting the S8, I'll wait for the next Note. I do, however, intend to return my Note 7 for a full refund and get the Note 8 without having to pay too much more. I'd love to have somebody at Magenta try to tell me the recall is over. Fact is, it is not! There is no expiration date and they can't invent one!

I recently took the plunge and finally returned my note 7. No T-Mobile stores I went to would accept it saying the recall had expired, smh. I eventually ended up doing the return through Samsung and got a better deal. Phone and 2 cases plus the extra $25 from Samsung netted me back $999. I'll gladly take that in a check than credits from T-Mobile.

Like the other carriers they were compensated by Samsung for all Note 7's. That's money they intend to keep, Magenta can be scandalous! Since mine is paid in full it won't go down that way when I return mind, I'll make sure if it!

TLDR;

So are they mailing you something for the Note 7 or are you returning it to the store?
I'm want to get the S8, but I keep getting mixed answer from store and phone reps.

I've been instructed to return my Note7 at a store within two weeks of receiving my new device. I just got the S8+ some 12-13 hours ago. I have not yet returned the Note7.
I'm currently in possession of both the S8+ and the Note7. They're quite similar actually; I think the upgrade is far more dramatic from the S7 or even the S7 edge.

Thanks for the info, I went to Tmo store and did it there. I kept my JOD so I'll be able to get the Note 8 when it comes out. I'm a happy camper lol. But I went with the regular S8, same screen size as the Note 7, just less bezel.

Hey everyone,
Just wondering if anyone on here is giving up their N7 for the S8+? Most specs look to be better, with the exception of the S-Pen of course.

I'm using both phones(N7 & s8+). Let me make it a short and sweet. S8+ is pretty much like the N7. Both phones pretty much has same software and exterior, except s8+ is a bit taller(more screen real estate). You obviously missing out the mighty s-pen from N7. Look at the pic below, the N7 sits almost perfectly inside the s8+'s wallet case. For those whom still has the N7, IMO just keep it and wait until the N8.

Lol, I would of kept mine but my battery was getting ****tier and my charging port was so loose that by the slightest touch it would come off. It was getting annoying.
But you're right, S8 is pretty much a N7 without the pen. Which I miss lol

LG V20 now in 2017 and is it bootlooping

I'm in Hong Kong over the summer and I can get a V20 for about 250 pounds and g6 for about 300. Do you think it's worth the extra 50 pounds for the g6. And are there bootlooping issues as it was added to the lawsuit.

I suggest you go for LG G6. V20 is good but I have seen instances where it is mentioned in boot-loop discussions. Plus, LG G6 has a slightly better processor, better build, better form factor and water proof as well.
Just because the V20 is listed in a lawsuit proves nothing...
Before I bought my phone I did some quick research and I have not found anyone with a V20 having a real bootloop concern.
There are threads like this one (https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/lg-v20-boot-loop-fix-t3629308) that are incorrectly titled (as in this thread) which lead people to that conclusion but by reading the posts they would see that this concern does not exist.
The V20 and G6 are totally different phones. It really boils down to what your wants/needs are.
I picked up both phones a few days ago, the v20 and the g6. My other phone is an OnePlus 3. I decided to buy them based off a couple reasons honestly, T-Mobile offered me $100 off each phone for being with them 10+ years then with the lg promotion currently going on for free mini projector and headset I figured why not. I had wanted the v20 since release and tho it's not the fastest phone out, I knew from using my OnePlus that it will do what I want.
To compare the two, keeping in mind these are T-Mobile variants, the v20 has root where the g6 does not. I knew I wanted root where my wife could care less. Bigger screen overall is another plus for me where she prefers smaller phones. Cameras, to my untrained eye are not much different. The benefit of the g6 would be water resistant and wireless charging, I wish the v20 had ip certification but wireless charging does little for me. As for the boot looping, T-Mobile stands by the manufacturer warranty for a year, any problems like that and they replace it so it's not really a concern to me.
I like both phones, but I also liked my g5 that I previously had given to the wife so obviously it's all a matter of personal preference.

How you got the $100 off offered from T-Mobile? I've been with them for 10+ years too.
Also I brought couple used T-Mobile V20 which is H918 but both seems start having the boot looping issues that would restart itself 5-6 times a day with normal use, some times even just listening songs with bluetooth at work would restart 2 times in 4 hours... I can't get replacement from T-Mobile since I didn't buy from their store and don't have receipt for LG to warranty although it still made within a year

I just called them, asked if that was their best price, rep put me in touch with customer loyalty and they offered me that deal.
I would still call T-Mobile and ask about exchanging the phone, if it's paid off and not tied to someone else's account they will probably do it for you, they have in the past for me when I had purchased a phone from swappa. It's still a T-Mobile variant under the year threshold.. All you can do is explain your situation and ask. If first rep says no, don't be afraid to try again. I've found that often, reps handle things differently from one to another.
