Issue with music playback (random beeps during playback and sometimes it mutes audio) - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi. Im having this problem when Im listening to music with headset connected to the phone and randomly (I don't how to reproduce the bug) it will produce a short beep (1 second) and continue playing with no problems but in the worst case it will produce a long long beep (10-15 seconds) and then all system audio gets muted even though it shows as if it was playing. To fix it I have to restart the phone. This happened with Spotify. I tried doing a factory reset and install Spotify 5.8 only (so that I know that no other app is causing this) and it keeps happening. I also tried many headphones and earphones but they are not the problem, also happened with the phone connected to my car via aux cable. Do you think it is a hardware related problem with my 3.5mm jack or software related?
Even though those short beeps don't mute system audio they make YouTube desync video/audio for some reason so I have to restart the phone to get it working normally.
My device model is XT1644 4GB ram 64GB storage with build no. MPJ24.139-64 and stock Android 6.0.1.
I will try Google Play Music and see if the same happens... though I don't think that Spotify is the problem since I saw noone with this problem on the Spotify forum and I tried many versions of it.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

It has happened with Netflix, YouTube and also Google Play Music. Strange thing is that I left it all night playing (about 8 hours) and when I woke up I checked it and it was all good; then I started YouTube app to see if sync was OK and it was until 3 minutes approx. of watching a video when a short beep occured. After that I tried Netflix and a long beep occured (needed to restart phone). If it is a hardware problem then why it gets fixed with a restart? I find that hard to understand and even though it seems random I think it is being triggered by something on the Android system maybe... Why did the beep occur right after some minutes of using it when I woke up and not before while it was playing all night? Any other ideas to troubleshoot this?
Thank you!

This problem is out of subject.Would be better if you post this in the motorola forums.Just make sure you dont mention you have rooted or modded your phone otherwise they will blame rooting as culprit.

[ISSUE] Speaker popping DURING audio playback

Before you all yell at me for making another thread about this (I know one exists, that's what I originally found when I searched), this is a different issue.
I'm sitting here in my office at work playing music off my TF, and everything goes well for a while. Then about 30 minutes in, the speakers will start constantly popping during playback. It starts out softly, then gets progressively worse (to the point where it sounds like a dirty record).
However, the first time it happened, I held down the power button and rebooted the TF and that fixed it. Then about 30 minutes later, it started happening again. So instead of rebooting, I decided to try force stopping the Music app (I'm using Google's Music) to see if it's a software issue. And boom, the popping is gone after restarting Music. Weird. Because it sounds like it should be a hardware issue... but restarting the app making the audio seems to fix it. Next time it happens I'll try just opening up Youtube and seeing if it persists.
Anyone else getting this? I'm on stock un-rooted 3.1.
Hey, I seem to have this problem as well,
and only in the Music App.
I'm using headphone to listen to music,
and it just happened about 5 minutes ago,
I decided to unplug the headphone and replug it and it seem to fix the problem,
and then when it happened again, I switched to the Youtube app immediately and the sound was perfectly normal in Youtube.
So I'm suspecting its actually the Music app's issue.
may I ask if you are listening to music you stored online or from your device?
Are you streaming the music? Using any apps like equalizer or volume+?
Also happened to me today for the first time...and I am using volume+
I guess ill turn it off if it happens again and see if its that.
This happens to me when listening to music and the transformer sleeps, it takes a good 3 minutes then finally changes tracks. Once changed though I get this cracking nose also.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I896 using Tapatalk
Same thing happens to me only when listening to google music. Will play normally at times, then popping will suddenly happen. I've listened to Squeezebox streams on my TF for extended periods with no popping, so I also suspect it has something to do with google music.
It would be nice to narrow down the cause and come up with a workaround.
used to have this problem when using older version of thumb keyboard, the typing sound produced this cracking noise. but fixed when I upgrade the thumb keyboard ;-)
+1 here.
Headphones, using Music player. I'm not using any special other apps to boost volume output. My headphones work just fine with any other device.
Unplugging and reconnecting the headphones seems to fix the issue. I haven't tested to see if this is exclusively with just the Music app or not.

Same issue, unplugging headphones fixes.
Running an OC kernel w/ Voodoo Sound, and Prime 1.4. Kinda points to an issue with software, I don't think i can blame the Player, more like the drivers/OS. Getting into a grove coding, i left my headphones on with no songs playing, and there was still an occasional crackle.
Really bummed, because this is a sweet music playback device with quality headphones and an amp'd signal.
Update: Flashed Asus 3.1 with CW Recovery mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112527) and popping gone. Still running OC kernel.

Spotify Issues / Notifications disappearing / music not stopping phone calls

Is it just me or anyone running Spotify notice that there seem to be some bugs recently...
I noticed that the Spotify notifications disappear every once and awhile while music is playing. I'm wondering if this is something that was introduced into 6.0 or what. Anyone have any ideas? I can open spotify check back an hour later and it's still playing but I have to switch back to the app and the notification comes back. This is pretty frustrating when trying to stop the music from running. It can also happen after 20 minutes it seems...
Another issue is that I receive a phone call but the music starts playing in earpiece or bluetooth while the phone is occurring. Combine this with issue 1 and you have a difficult situation here...
I have had the notification disappear once or twice, but more commonly I am using the phone and swipe Spotify out of my recents (I do it A LOT on accident because I my recent apps clean) and it will continue to play. I have to then open Spotify and wait for it to show what is playing at the bottom, then swipe it out again and it stops.
Last night was the first time I've had it mess up with a phone call. I was in my car and it was dark and raining, I was driving downtown and not really wanting to talk on the phone anyway, but I hit answer on the handsfree in my car. The music started playing through the phone audio in my car. My car only has bluetooth for phone calls so I use a bluetooth A2DP dongle to feed the 3.5mm line in port on the stereo. The music was clearly playing over the phone because it was of much poorer quality than the A2DP device. I only let it play for a second or two before I hung up on the person because it was probably BLASTING on their end.
I don't get a ton of phone calls, let alone when music is playing, but that's the first time I've had that particular issue.
I also get this strange thing where sometimes when playing bluetooth and disconnect it will start playing out of my stereo which can be embarrassing if you're at work! All the issues seem random so hopefully they go away or get patched.
Ditto, I am having a ton of issues with Spotify on my N6P. Music just stops playing, I have to open the app, hit pause and then hit resume for it to start playing sound again.
I am also having the same issue with music playback suddenly stopping. I have to pause it and hit play again. But it then stops playing again every 30 seconds. I am using an aux cord in my car but frankly I am quite annoyed.
I’m having the issue with the lock screen widget/notification disappearing sometimes, it's especially annoying when in my car and I want to skip/repeat a track and the widget disappears. My guess it's a marshmallow issue and should be fixed with an update to the app.
similar issues for me here now. guess we just need to wait for an app update.

My Spidey senses tell me is has something to do with doze, my N6P stops Spotify every time it's put into my pocket, recent Spotify update hasn't fixed anything???

Doze won't activate if your phone is in your pocket. It only triggers when the device is sitting completely still for some time. I have had Spotify repeatedly pause itself when my battery was very low (<10%) before, though. I would press play and as soon as the screen shut off, it would pause again. I didn't turn off battery optimization for Spotify explicitly yet, but mine doesn't seem to be acting up as much as it was before.
It just occasionally removes the ongoing notification but launching and exiting the app again restores it every time.

I have the 6p and now music will randomly stop playing with any music app if connected via 3.5mm.
Same issue here with music still on phone calls.
Use Pioneer BT head unit in the car and stream Music and Calls over it. Use Spotify premium with all music offline.
I have posted on the Spotify forums but so far have not seen any replies that will fix the issue.
One person recommended uninstalling and reinstalling the application, however I don't really want to have to download 6GB of music again...
I am also experiencing these issues. Waiting on updates to Marshmallow and/or Spotify to fix them... It is quite frustrating though.
i've now experience some similar issues. just waiting on an update like everyone else.
I've had the disappearing notification, as well as audio dropouts while listening via wired headset and Bluetooth (though that one might be caused by Viper4Android - not sure)
My Spotify + Nexus 6P issue is when I'm listening to music and then I press the app drawer. I momentarily lose sounds for a very short period of time, not even a second, split second maybe. Though it is intermittent, it kinda bugs me out.

S7 Edge audio muting itself

S7 Edge Exynos - SM-G935F
Often when playing audio through speaker, whether that be streaming/downloaded music from GPM, through YouTube (both app and safari) and other apps sound (like games) after a while the sound will just cut out. If it's music or a video, it continues playback, just without sound. It's seemingly completely random - sometimes I can play music for hours without a problem, other times it will happen nearly instantly. Pausing and resuming will play sound for maybe 0.2 seconds before it mutes again, or sometimes fix it, I can't think of any reason why this sometimes fixes it and sometimes doesn't. It does not happen when using headphones. This happens both pre and post root.
I've spent a few hours googling it and the only solution I can find is disabling OK Google, but this didn't solve my issue.
I have a suspicion it's a faulty headphone jack, but I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. Is there a way to get a status bar icon for showing that headphones are plugged in?
Fair few of us have had this issue, have a look at this thread.

Ouch. I seemed to miss that thread. How irritating...

Audio randomly stops (youtube, browser, etc). I have to press play for it to resume.

Happens everyday (even with my S6). It'll stop when audio is playing for a bit, or after I hit the volume button. It doesn't do it constantly through out the day, but it'll happen atleast once everyday i'm listening to audio. Anyone else?
Anyone?
It is happening with my S8 either when playing games or youtube and even music.
This problem started after the software update. So i think it is a software issue..
Whenever the sound cut off, i just lock the screen and unlock it back....
Hope Samsung will release a software update as soo as possible
Games is fine for me, it's just players like YouTube, music apps, and players inside websites. Just gotta press play again. Pretty annoying, but happens atleast once a day, not constantly through out the day.
It happens to me in Youtube and NBA app when video is being played.
Sometimes the screen just shuts off completely too.
I agree it's not consistent.
To add, sound not working sometimes when i am using skype and even sometimes for my alarms.
What do you think, is it a software problem or hardware?
Seems to happen more through out the day now. It's pretty annoying.
This just started happening to me yesterday. I've tried restarting my phone, pausing the video and playing it again, turning the volume all the way down then back up. All of those things restore the sound but it'll cut out a few seconds later. Also audio plays just fine in my headphones.
I dont have my s8 yet, but this sounds like a problem I used to have on a previous galaxy s phone (i think it may have been the s4). It turned out I had a setting enabled where the player pauses or stops when I'm not looking at the screen. It's called smart pause. Could be something similar although i'm not sure.
Uggg
Same problem here. Got the s8 less than a week ago and I use spotify offline (downloaded) and Google Music for downloaded files and it always pauses after about 15 minutes, sometimes sooner. I don't use battery saver, and none of the 'smart' features are enabled. It happens with headphones, without headphones, on Bluetooth. Just pauses the song and I have to hit play again, super annoying and I can't find any fix. I'm really regretting this purchase.
I also have S8 and currently experiencing this kind of issue. Every after 1 minute of playing either youtube or videos on my phone it paused and I didn't even clicked it.
I have a problem like this on my s7edge. Then I thought it can be related third party apps. And yes when I uninstall Sputnik news app, it solves the problem.

issues and Spotify playback

I'm not sure if this is a Spotify issue, essential phone issue or specific to the latest update a few days ago.
I got my PH-1 about 2 weeks ago but today is the 1st time I'm playing Spotify so I'm just now noticing the issue.
Observation
When I start a Playlist it plays 2 sometimes 3 songs then stops. Skipping or tapping pause then play from the lockscreen does not help. I have to unlock the phone and open Spotify for playback to start again. Seems to always happen at the end of a song.
I 1st noticed it while playing through my Bluetooth speaker but tried wired headphones, and the loud speakers and it always spot at the end of song 2 or 3. (Different Playlists).
What I've done
1- uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify
2- turn off battery optimization for Spotify
None seems to make any difference. Has anyone noticed this, and figured out how to get it done play normally?
Sometimes it simply stops playing music, pressing play, pause, next ro back doesnt work. I have to close the app but it works fine after opening it again.
I had issues with Spotify when I used an ad blocking VPN. Went away when I disabled it.
