Unhappy with the Axon 7 after 2 weeks:Questions - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I came from a Nexus 6. Here are the issues I have with the axon 7 and why I am returning it:
-Screen is 5.5" Not 5.9" or greater like the Nexus 6. I thought I could get use to it and like the screen being smaller but I just miss a bigger screen. I wish for a Axon 7 pro or plus model that had a bigger screen.
-No water resistance or dust resistance (after 1 week I noticed the speakers were not as loud as my Nexus 6.. I took some air spray and sprayed air in the speakers of the axon 7 and the clarity came back... Annoying to have to do this all the time. The Nexus 6 didn't have this issue as it it dust resistant)
-No wireless charger. I love dropping the Nexus 6 on the wireless charger and picking it up with no wires.
-No on screen buttons. With on screen buttons I can customize the button shape, color, etc... More over can use pie which I love as this gives you MORE screen and hides the navigation buttons until you need them on the Nexus 6)
-Lack of roms. Unlike the Nexus 6 which has a HUGE dev community offering custom roms, the Axon 7 doesn't as not many know about Axon / ZTE.
**Side note. I am really loving the front facing speakers of the device. Like the Nexus 6, this device has true dual speakers and it's just great along with the AMOLED display like the Nexus 6 it has deep blacks. Does anyone know a phone that exists like the Axon 7 but also ticks the boxes I outline above?
At @02busa , you live in the states like me. What do you think? I have read that this device checked off many boxes for you. I'd love your input on my thread. I respect your posts here.

locally here i am seeing people getting the phone and selling it within 2- 3 days , very odd

What is model number for Chinese version?

every last one of this posters' complaints were known facts before the purchase of the phone was made - why buy it then if it wasn't what you wanted?

The On-screen nav. Keys will be present in future USA updates. You just need to WAIT a bit and be patient.

ok great, thank you

I've had it for about a month already no issues here love this phone and no ZTE is not paying me to say this its a great phone for the price. flawed? yes but seriously what phone isn't? Just look at the Note7 which is the device I came from before the Axon7 and for the price I can't complain the specs are amazing camera isn't as great as Samsung S7 but its good enough for me.

Totally agree. I had a vzn s7e as a daily driver. Now I split the duties depending on what my day consists of. Like many have said, is the phone perfect? No. Does it have flaws? Yes. But for the price point, specs and the POTENTIAL development. I believe the thing many people are having a problem with this phone is being patient!(I'm guilty of it myself)

Please help me decide between Nexus 10 and Galaxy note 8

I am having a lot of trouble deciding between these two devices, particularly because the nexus 10 is not available to try out at any physical store in my area so I'd be going on just online feedback alone. I made myself a little pro/con list. I am hoping that by seeing what I see, maybe someone can help me tip the scales in one direction or the other!
Galaxy note 8 (not considering ipad mini, i like the note better)
Pros
-I am a physician, the size is perfect for carrying around the hospital in my white coat. As a former owner of an ipad 3, carrying that around was annoying.
-Colors look bright
-S-pen. I don't use it a whole lot on my note 2 phone, but i also dont take notes on my phone. I hope to be able to use my tablet for reading pdfs, highlighting and even following along in lectures. This provides that opportunity.
Cons
-Price, very difficult pill to swallow the price for half the resolution and processing power.
-Lack of XDA support (can this tablet even be rooted? Huge concern for me if not), I'm sort of a flashaholic.
-Havent had a chance to watch an HD movie yet.. can someone comment on what I might expect to see quality wise compared to my old ipad 3 and even the nexus 10?
Google Nexus 10
Pros
-Easily the most beautiful display available, I am a techie who wants the best and brightest
-Always updated by google blah blah, stock android
-Amazing developer community
Cons
-Size, I do like that tablet to fit in my whitecoat and not be cumbersome in the hospital all day
-I'd be buying blind, I have never seen a galaxy 10 tablet in person (ive seen the 7 but i know theyre very different)
Personally id go for the Nexus 7. I dont know how big your lab coat is but it can fit into a suit jacket snugly. I dont think you will see a big size difference between a Nexus 10 and a Note 8, and like you mentioned they are charging an arm and a leg for a vastly underequipped device because it is a "Note"

i thought about the nexus 7 but i found that extra inch pretty clutch for doing practice exam questions and viewing imaging. The 8" also would fit perfectly in the pocket (obviously 7" would too)
Nexus 10 On the Way
I recently purchased the $139 refurb deal on the Nexus 7 and while it's a nice tablet I found that the screen size was too small. I already have a Note 2 as my phone and found that the Nexus 7 didn't offer enough to justify using it over my Note 2. I ended up giving it to my kids to use. I next considered the Note 8 and the Nexus 10 just like you. I ultimately decided that I probably wouldn't be happy with the 8" screen size either. The reduced size Android tablets are designed mainly for vertical orientation and so make you feel like you are just using a scaled up phone, which doesn't appeal to me. I also think the Note 8 is over-priced. If Samsung made a Note 10 with a high-res display I would definitely get it, but they don't. I just can't see dropping money on a tablet that uses a 1280 resolution display. So I decided to go for the refurb deal on the Nexus 10 in the 32gb model. Like you I haven't ever seen one but like the idea of the high-res display and the Nexus brand (get updates right from Google). At $429 with free shipping I figure its worth ordering just to try out. Mine should be arriving tomorrow. Here is where I ordered from:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/330899402811
I bought the Note 8. I also have / had the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Nexus 7, and iPad 3.
The Note 8 is for people who need to use it to write handwritten notes. None of the other tablets I've used come close to the Note 8 if that is what you need. The size is perfect for note taking. It can take the same amount and size notes on its smaller screen as the iPad can in zoomed mode. However if you do not need the note taking aspect of this tablet, you would be right to think it's over priced. I liked the Nexus 7 size better, it was just more comfortable to hold. The original Samsung 10.1 tablet is slow and the screen is not that great, but it is still my preferred device for videos, mostly because it can display them on the largest screen due to its aspect ratio. The iPad has a beautiful screen which made it a pleasure to use, and I didn't mind its weight at work, but I rarely use it at home because it's too big and heavy. The old 10.1 Android got more use, though now that I have the Note 8 it probably won't be used much any more. My recommendation would be to buy the Nexus 10 for home, and the Note 8 for work if you need it for note taking, but if you don't need the s pen, I would wait a month and see what the next Nexus 7 or 7.7 or 8 will be. It should be announced at Google IO.
my sugestion its that stay out of nexus 10 regarding its multiply issues with build quality until you are not testing the device to the blood before buying.
good luck

Go to any tablet on XDA and you will see just as many horror stories people returning their device 6 or 7 times due to some QC problem... Some people are just never happy. There are some legit problems but a lot of what you see is from people who get their jollys off complaining about a product they bought...
The only problem the nexus 10 has that others don't is a software issue... The thermal throttling is WAY too conservative... This can be easily fixed with a custom kernel... And as this guy says he is a flashaholic a custom kernel shouldn't be a problem...
All tablets with LCD screens have light bleed issues... If they has put an Ambled screen on this bad boy it would have raised the cost and people would have complained...
The one thing I wish is that they stuck to a 1080p res screen... There really is no reason to go above that... 1080p looks AMAZING on my 42" lcd(which by the way also has huge light bleed lol) it would look awesome on my nexus 10 especially since they probable could have gone with an AMoled screen at that res for the same price
As far as the OP goes, I I'd pick the nexus 10 lol
PS sorry for the rant lol
I just got the Note 8 today (attempting to making the switch from the Nexus 10). Both are great devices, but I just needed the S Pen feature work, so I went with the Note 8. It's too early to know which one I'll like better at the end.
I can tell you that I love the screen resolution on the Nexus 10. The Note 8 has no comparison when it comes to that department.

And its developments too.. Good luck.
I ended up buying both tablets today since I can return either in 15 days. SO far I'm undecided, but I am bummed out that there is no root option for the note 8.
On the flipside.. the nexus 10 is already seeming like a pain in the ass to carry around. Also, whoever designed the note 8 deserves a swift kick in the nuts for making the camera stick out on the back.
I picked uo the Galaxy note 8, 2 days ago. I am using it while on the road for work while at the hotel on the network I am watching the wifi signal strength drop ever time I cover thetop right back side of the tablet with my hand. I mean just the corner of it could any of you guys that have it check. I can post a a video if needed. You can not miss it.
Another issue is the battery life, it just goes too quick. Maybe I am not giving it enough time. If all I am going to get is 5 hours on this battery. I will take this tablet back.

I don't have any wifi issue with mine. I just tried to reproduce it, but I see no change in signal strength or Internet speed regardless of how I hold it. Check at another wifi location to rule out the hotel being the problem instead. Exchange it if it still does it.
I agree the battery could be better. It gets me through a work day, but needs to be plugged in before I'm ready to put it down for the night. The iPad does do much better with battery life. I'm not sure whether my other Android tablets are better though. Possibly, but it hasn't been noticeable to me.

If a Nexus 7 should even be considered you need to at least wait until next month when official specs are released for the new model update that comes out in a few months.

So your saying that signal levels drop when you place a highly signal absorbent object over the antenna? That's so crazy, I would never have thought this would be the case. [/donebeingadick]

Just because your single device had issues doesn't mean everyone elses does My Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 arrived just fine without any huge glaring issues (only "minor" issue my N7 had was screen lift, which was common during early models; none on the later model I bought).
If my device has problems that means that the quality control its bad . if a single device has problems it could havebeen yours , others and others . It could probably happen to you in the future also .
don t you think?
i think 50% of the nexus 10 units has problems from the number of complains onthe forums .
I want a clean product , like my money are . I need the perfect quality control from google and samsung togheder because i dont pay half money when I do .
Dont worry Ravanous ... nexus 10 has also 5 6 hours of battery. Buy note 8 or wait for ipad mini 2 if you can eat IOS.

I have a Nexus 10 but I have it on ebay at the moment and waiting to replace it with a Note 8 3G (whenever they are available here in the UK!).I love the screen on the N10 but that's about it, I find the size awkward and rarely use it as a result. I see myself getting more use out of Note 8. I always thought that 8" is the sweetspot in terms of size.

There are thousands of Nexus 10 owners on these forums, which we can see from ROM and kernel downloads. Of those, there is at best only 10% of owners who actually post here. Of those 10%, only 2-3% have problems with their tablet. 2-3% of product that has issues is on the upper end of "acceptable" for most companies these days.

Coming from a Nexus 6

I'm coming from a Nexus 6, I'm not sure how I'll readjust to the "small" screen, I'm currently debating between the S7 Edge and the LG G5.
Got any advice on which phone to chose?
I'd go with a note but they won't be announcing one for another year, and I don't want to wait for the S7 Edge+
Thanks!

I have the V10 and I like it, but the S7 Edge is gorgeous, so I'm thinking of taking the plunge. The G5, while innovative, will require many subsequent investments I would think, which is kind of a deal breaker for me, since I upgrade every 6 months or so. No point in buying a phone and then plunking down a lot of money on the add-ons if I'm only going to keep it a short while. Plus, it sounds like an accessory bag may be needed for the G5!! :silly:

I have a Nexus 6 too atm and also seriously considering the Galaxy S7 ha ha. From the few hands-on video`s and reports i saw i think that atm the S7 is the overall better phone of the two. Maybe wait a few weeks and wait for real reviews so you have more info to base an opinion on. The S7 screen is a bit bigger (5,5 vs 5,3 inch for the G5). But both are great phones and i don`t know if the SD 820 is better or worse then the Exynos 8890 (at least used in Europe).
LG G5 looks ugly compared to Galaxy S7.
LG G5 no app's drawer. so think about it.
i will go for galaxy S7 becauase of water proof, and bigger battery. and looks alot better especially the Gold color. edge is the most sexy phone ever.
if i wanted to go for LG then i will go for LG V10 instead. if you like big phones.

No app drawer is a non-issue with android. Simply use a 3rd party launcher - most of which are better than stock anyway.

I'm an LG fan - have had the G3, G4 and V10 and I've loved the rear volume and power buttons. I'm probably not the best person to ask because I change phones almost as much as I change my underwear :silly:, but to me, there is a much larger investment than just the phone. If you are anything like me, you'll want most, if not all of the add-ons. While I don't know what they will cost, I doubt they will be cheap. That, combined with the fact that there probably won't be 3rd party versions of those add-ons, means several hundred dollars more to pour into the G5. Considering how long I keep a phone, it makes no sense for me, but if you plan on keeping if for a long time, it might be a great device! I am about 90% sure I'll pre-order the S7 Edge tonight after midnight. It's flat-out gorgeous, and now that it's waterproof and has a micro-sd slot (why only a max of 200gb is beyond me, but it's enough for me), and a huge battery, it might be the perfect phone!
Hope this helps a little....

The S7 Edge's screen is 5.5, right? That's only .2 smaller than my V10 (current phone). I am only 5'7", and my hands are pretty small. I use a strap on the V10 to keep from dropping it, so no, I won't lose sleep over -.2". The 5C is much smaller than the S7 E.
Nexus 6 is much bigger, so yeah you will have some significant adjustments to make. I love the nexus 6 keyboard space and the fact that i dont reach for a tablet nearly as much when using it is a plus. Any phone over 5 inches is a two hander for typing or using quickly to me, especially the slippery ones. So why not go big, but thats just my opinion. Next time your out hold your nexus next to an iphone 6s plus and you will see the screen size difference. My mental block about the s7 edge is the 32gb only offering. If they only offer one size why not make it the medium 64gb of last years offerings. They want to push gaming on us but then give us a very limited 32gb phone. Makes no sense to me. What will make me really mad is if they offer a 64gb version about 3 months later after all the initial buyers and hype subside.

Samsung stated they only put 200gb because that's all the market has to offer right now. I'm sure the interface will still be the same for larger cards (1TB, 2TB), like LG G5 spec.
Read or saw it on a video somewhere, forgot.

I don't have the device (yet) but if you use "devcheck" from the play store and go to Hardware->Panel you should be able to see OEM name on most devices.

What's the exact part number? It usually lists for Samsung Panels stuff like "s6e3fa3" next to the OEM.

That's good to know. I will test the Axon 7 (G Model) for two weeks and decide if I like it or not.
If I like it I will keep it if not I will send it back.
The capacitive buttons are a no go for me. But I will see. I will also compare signal cell/WiFi strength to my old phone. If it's worse I will get the next device to test for two weeks. Who knows I might even end up with the Pixel XL at the end xD

I'm also waiting to see what the Pixel XL will be like... especially considering how much Google is promoting this... (unless previous the Nexus phones in the past) Just saw a giant sign on the side of the interstate with Google's ad about this upcoming phone... kind of weird... even Apple doesn't do anything like that to promote iPhones.

I read many posts that said the Axon 7's AMOLED was "worse" than then AMOLED screens on current Samsung phones. That really confused me. Is it possible that Samsung sold cheaper/substandard/outdated versions of the AMOLED panels to other smartphone manufacturers? O
I had compared my Axon 7 with my friend's Sam Note edge today. The displays seems identical, with the only exception being Note Edge has an edge. Samsung does not sell their best display to other manufacturers that's just the fact.
I'm having both s7 edge and Axon 7 and the quality of the screen is on par with latest Samsung top smartphone.
The sunlight readability is on par with s7 edge the accuracy of the color is top level also.
Well done to ZTE that deliver top of the top AMOLED display to his current flagship.

Worse? I guess they are maybe talking about some "metrics" that aren't visible to the eye. The screen on this device is gorgeous and matches up to any of the current Samsung flagship devices I know (not the S8, though. Haven't held one yet.).
Since I'm on a custom ROM I use kCal to increase color slightly to mimic that original colour tool on stock. Has me "ooh-ing" and "aah-ing" from video to video. )

LG v20 or Axon 7?

Have anyone checked out the Axon 7? Im coming from a note 7, and have been using samsung since the skyrocket. Its either the lg v20 or axon 7. what are your thoughts.
I have both. From a value standpoint, Axon 7 all day long. From a feature standpoint, V20 without a doubt. Coming from a Note 4 edge and LG G4 recently. If i had to pick my favorite, the V20 wins. Removable battery, second screen, better camera being the main reasons. The Axon 7 is no slouch though, especially in the audio department. I got the gold one and it is beautiful to see and feels a little better in the hand. Mostly because of the smaller size and more rounded corners.
V20 quality build and larger screen are big hits to name a few....

I really don't need 2 phones but as a daily driver is it v20 all day? And do you use the axon 7 from time to time, since you have both? Or should I return the axon 7?thanks in advanced.

This is a tough choice anyway you slice it. I bought the Axon 7 to tide me over until the V20 was released. I intended to take it back to BB before 14 day return window expired. But once i unboxed the Axon 7 and started using it, i fell in love and decided to keep it as backup phone or gift it to my wife or son. I would say out of all the $400 "budget phones" out there, the Axon 7 is the best all around device imo. If you don't need or want 2 phones, return the Axon 7 and keep the V20. It is the better, more feature packed phone. Just don't open the Axon 7 box and start playing with the phone, or else you might be tempted to keep it

How does the axon7 speakers compare to the lg v20?
There is a similar thread on the Axon 7 section. I came from a note7 and I think the axon is a really good device. I have spent time with the v20 and the only significant item that the LG wins on is low light photography IMHO. Other than that I am really enjoying the Axon

Volume wise its very close. The Axon 7 pulls ahead because of its front facing stereo speakers.
I have both V20 and Axon 7. Sold the Axon 7 yesterday.
Hardware wise the Axon 7 is brilliant and feels very nice in hand. Performance is very snappy, great battery life, and amazing sound. However, to my ears, the V20 sounds better. While the Axon 7 is louder, I would not be going hear the peak volume for too long anyways. You can't go wrong if you are just looking in these few departments.
However, the software is where pulled the Axon 7 - Horrible lock screen notifications (you'll have to click on the notification bell EVERY TIME to reveal notifications), some stutter in animations, some weird behaviours with apps like swiftkey would randomly remove inputs. If you can deal with these, consider the price of the Axon 7, it's almost a perfect phone. Unfortunately, these things bug me as a daily driver phone.

I have both as well on AT&T, the A7 has batter battery life, sound quality on video recording is close, the v20 has better low light of course. the a7 records in h265(4k) which can save around 30% after 10 min

Should I give up my S7E for a unlocked v20 or iphone?

I currently have an S7 Edge I got when I had to return my Note 7. Is it worth the money to switch to the V20 unlocked version that BH sells even though it doesn't offer Wifi Calling? Also I hear about the camera glass breaking on it as well easily.
Finally, would the iPhone 7 Plus be a better alternative to the V20?
I'm seriously thinking about it and wondering what v20 users think.
Few comparisons.
For Better camera : stay with S7E. Awesome low light pics .
For Screen size : Go for V20 larger displays.
For Screen resolution : stay with S7E way better resolution
Edge vs 2nd screen : v20 I am finding it more useful then S7E.
Power button : stay with S7E don't have to lift the phone to power on with S7E . V20 power button is in the back .
Notifications : S7E has notifications light . V20 doesn't. Notifications on 2nd screen .
For mobile pay : S7E is winner Samsung pay. V20 Android pay is hit and miss.
Removable battery : Go for V20
Wireless charging : S7E , v 20 doesn't have this feature.
Will never go for iPhone there is no comparison between all 3. Hands down android any day.
Actually as I am typing this planing to go back to my S7E . Lol
Hope this helps

I get bored with phones lol. I had the s7 edge back in march, then bought the Note 7 then had to return that and got the Edge. Nearly got the iphone plus instead of the Edge but it was out of stock. Now i see the v20 with a larger screen and more features.
Also better cases for teh v20 that are more protective because it has a flat screen. Im using a Defender for the Edge which this screen protector actually fits tight to the screen but you have to tap hard because it's a thicker kind of plastic. Im thinking about getting Speck candygrip shell for it and sticking with the edge maybe.

Actually, you don't need the power button except you want to turn the phone off/restart the phone.
Hit the screen twice can turn the screen on/off
I had the s7 then went for the note 7 and when I had to turn that back in I went with the s7 edge. The edge was an ok phone but I felt it was a downgrade from the note 7.
This is how I rate the edge to the v20.
Screen Samsung wins it hands down for brightness and auto brightness. Where as the v20 seems to not know what the correct amount should be. Plus the color on the edge is more vibrant and richer than the v20.
Camera ill just say toss up as the note 7 spoiled me.
The second screen on the v20 is very useful if you want to switch between two apps a lot and don't want to press the square. Also taking screenshots is a breeze with that also. I just hope they come out with more function for the second screen as it has potential. The edge screen I hated as if you was typing in landscape it would pick up touches from the inside of my thumb and index finger.
If you need water resistant then keep the edge but where v20 gives that up you do get a removable battery. That can allow the phone to last longer and keep you from cracking open a sealed device when you have a battery issue and want to replace.
I don't care where the power button is placed. As with all my cellphones over the years has had then in all different locations. So up to you if that's an issue or not but with it in the back and recessed it keeps from being turned on like with the Samsung phones. So that can be a plus in the v20 side.
I do miss Samsung pay and wish the app could be placed on any phone and not Samsung only. I have gift cards on my account but guess I'll just use my s6 edge plus for that. So if you don't have a backup Samsung device might be hard to use your cards.
Big plus for the V20 is the built in DAC for headphones. I'd you have higher end buds or phones the fax will engage and makes it sound way better than the stock sound chip. Was the one reason I got this phone was to try the dac. Sure it can't compete with the stand alone dac/amps but for portability the phones dac works surprisingly well. If you want to trick the dac to turn on because your headsets resistance is low. Just buy a little male/female aux cable and plug that in first then your headsets and it tricks it on. Be careful. As it can damage the cheaper headsets/buds
In the end both phones are good devices and each has their strong points. Swapped the s7 edge for the v20 because I had a. Note 7 and felt the edge was a step backwards.
So hope this helps you and as far as the v20 camera glass breaking easily. Take that with a grain of salt. You don't know how the person treated their phone. The same thing went on when the HTC One M7 came out. People blamed everyone but themselves. First thing all them people on rhw HTC one site would say is I babied my phone. I had a HTC one for 2 years and my lens never cracked.
Good luck on your choice in phone

I came from the Note 5 if that helps. I had edge features modded in and I never really found them useful. The first week it's like yeah this is awesome than after that your like meh. I honestly have found the V20 to be a pretty good experience so far. It's easier to develop and the community on it has grown tremendously already. I see a bright future for the V20 just give it time.
Even me i think to swapping the v20 because the battery ln stand by is not good also i missed the LED notification? but at the same time i like the lg software more then samsung double tap ,gallery ,ir.... .
If go to the battery life section all the results is awesome? compared to v20 actually i think to wait until th G6 or S8 release then i will decide which one go with .
Sent from my LG-H990 using Tapatalk
if I were you i'll just going to wait for the S8...
the only good thing about the LG v20 is just the removable battery...
If you get an iphone you wont need the xda app i guess. See you in 2 years.
I was in the exact same bought. I had an S7E, then bought Note 7, then had to return Note 7, so bought an iPhone 7 Plus. Stayed on the iphone for about 3 days, but couldnt take it anymore so bought an S7E again. Then I started missing the 5.7 inch screen so went for V20 !
In my honest opinion after trying out every damn option out there is that they are ALL THE SAME. I really say which is BETTER between Note 7, iphone7+, S7E, and even Pixel XL. They are all good. Sure, each one have advantages but thats about it. Neither one has a BAD camera. neither has a BAD screen, you know ?
Now considering that, the key thing for me boils down to price. and that is different in each part of the world. here in New Zealand, i have to pay 1600$ for a 128GB iPhone 7 Plus, 1400$ for 128GB Pixel XL, and 900$ for V20 or S7E. So the choice is clear really.
Between S7E and V20, i would defintly go for V20 having tried both. once the S7e gets the final non-beta nougat update and receives all the features the Note 7 had, then it can contend with V20.
at the end of the day, i am thankful for so many good options ! haha
---------- Post added at 12:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:44 AM ----------
SO just to clarify, if you need to add alot of money on top of your S7E for a V20, then i wouldnt suggest doing it, because you dont REALLY get anything extra, especially when the Nougat update hits the S7e. but if you dont have to add much money and you are looking for something new, then you will definitely love the V20.
IS the unlocked version worth it even though it's missing wifi calling?

I currently have an S7 Edge I got when I had to return my Note 7. Is it worth the money to switch to the V20 unlocked version that BH sells even though it doesn't offer Wifi Calling? Also I hear about the camera glass breaking on it as well easily.
Finally, would the iPhone 7 Plus be a better alternative to the V20?
I'm seriously thinking about it and wondering what v20 users think.

No. I sold my LG V20 today. very bad battery life, I had running out of battery in 6 hours. I had Note 7 and had been using all Note series. S7E is the best option for you right now. I bought Huawei Mate 9 and I'm very happy, I like it because I have also been using Mate 8 before. I don't think you will consider it, so my suggestion is to stick with S7E.

Yes, knew some of you will feel like that. Me and my brother bought my LG V20 after reading reviews here for all the good functions, especially the battery life. I had a spare battery set, but then if the battery lasts only 6-7 hours, then even 2 batteries weren't enough. I have installed Accubattery and it showed sometimes it drains 1700 to 2000 ma per hour. Even if I would turn off the data and WiFi. I even tried Greenify. Even blocked background data for many apps. Maybe my model here in Hong Kong is more affected. But anyway, after receiving 3 updates, it was still same, looks like all updates were for security patches. I miss my Galaxy Note 7, but Huawei Mate 9 gives me similar feel, except the waterproofing, which I don't think is going to be a big problem.
